| 1 | The Roles of Innate Immune Cells in Liver Injury and Regeneration显示文摘For predominant abundance with liver-specific Kupffer cells, natural killer (NK) cells, and natural killer T (NKT) cells and their rapid responses to several stimuli, the liver is considered as an organ with innate immune features. In contrast to their roles in the defense of many infectious agents like hepatitis viruses and parasites, hepatic innate immune cells are also involved in the immunopathogenesis of human clinical liver diseases and several murine hepatitis models such as concanavalin A (Con A), lipopolysaccharide (LPS), or polyinosinic-polycytidylic acid (Poly I:C)-induced liver injury. | 2 | Spatial variations of macrozoobenthos and sediment nutrients in Lake Yangcheng: Emphasis on effect of pen culture of Chinese mitten crab显示文摘We determined the effect of Chinese mitten crab(CMC) pen culture on the quantified spatial distribution of the macrozoobenthic community and sediment nutrients in Lake Yangcheng.Redundancy analysis indicated that water temperature, macrophyte occurrence, sediment type, and crab culture were the main environmental factors that influence the spatiotemporal macrozoobenthic distribution. Macrozoobenthic assemblages in the lake were characterized by eutrophic indicator species. In the most polluted estuaries, the abundance and diversity indices of the whole community and abundance of chironomids and oligochaetes were significantly depressed, and sediment carbon(C) and phosphorus(P) were significantly enhanced compared with those in the western, middle(MB), and eastern basin(EB). Crab culture in this lake had significant effects on the species composition of the macrozoobenthic community in one of three CMC culture pens(CP), and generally depressed the abundance of most chironomid and oligochaete species. Significantly increased diversity, evenness, sediment carbon and nitrogen content, and sediment C:P ratio in the CP were found compared with those in the three basins.However, no conspicuous difference in sediment P content between the CP and the two basins of MB and EB was detected. | 3 | Revealing of the ultrafast third-order nonlinear optical response and enabled photonic application in two-dimensional tin sulfide显示文摘Black phosphorus(BP), a typical mono-elemental and two-dimensional(2D) material, has gathered significant attention owing to its distinct optoelectronic properties and promising applications, despite its main obstacle of long-term stability. Consequently, BP-analog materials with long-term chemical stability show additional potential. In this contribution, tin sulfide(SnS), a novel two-elemental and 2D structural BP-analog monochalcogenide, has been demonstrated to show enhanced stability under ambient conditions. The broadband nonlinear optical properties and carrier dynamics have been systematically investigated via Z-scan and transient absorption approaches. The excellent nonlinear absorption coefficient of 50.5 × 10^-3 cm∕GW, 1 order of magnitude larger than that of BP, endows the promising application of SnS in ultrafast laser generation. Two different decay times of τ1~873 fs and τ2~96.9 ps allow the alteration between pure Q switching and continuous-wave(CW) mode locking in an identical laser resonator. Both mode-locked and Q-switched operations have been experimentally demonstrated using an SnS saturable absorber at the telecommunication window. Femtosecond laser pulses with tunable wavelength and high stability are easily obtained, suggesting the promising potential of SnS as an efficient optical modulator for ultrafast photonics. | 4 | The Involvement of Heat Shock Proteins in Murine Liver Regeneration显示文摘Partial hepatectomy (PHx) in mammals is a very common experimental model to investigate the process of liver regeneration. The surgery itself could give birth to a series of stresses, such as the temporary raise of body temperature and the ischaemia-reperfusion injury. Heat shock proteins (HSPs) were a family of stress-inducible proteins involved in maintaining cell homeostasis and regulating the immune system. In our study, we intended to investigate the expression and role of HSPs in liver regeneration. Using RT-PCR and Western blotting, we determined the expression in regenerating liver of HSP27, HSP60, HSP70 and HSP90 in mRNA level and protein level, respectively, with mice treated with sham operation as controls. We also used quercertin as an inhibitior of HSPs to explore their effects on liver regeneration. We found that hepatic expression of HSPs increased at the early phase of liver regeneration and declined to the constitutively low level later. Moreover, quercetin pretreatment delayed the progress of liver regeneration in mice via inhibition of HSPs. | 6 | BLT1 in dendritic cells promotes Th1/Th17 differentiation and its deficiency ameliorates TNBS-induced colitis显示文摘Leukotriene B4(LTB4)synthesis is enhanced in the colonic mucosa in patients with inflammatory bowel disease(IBD).BLT1,a highaffinity receptor for LTB4,exhibits no effect on the progression of dextran sodium sulfate(DSS)-induced colitis,which mostly relies on innate immunity.Here,we reported that BLT1 regulates trinitrobenzene sulfonic acid(TNBS)-induced colitis,which reflects CD4+T-cell-dependent adaptive immune mechanisms of IBD.We found that BLT1 signaling enhanced the progression of colitis through controlling the production of proinflammatory cytokines by dendritic cells(DCs)and modulating the differentiation of Th1 and Th17.BLT1−/−mice displayed an alleviated severity of TNBS-induced colitis with reduced body weight loss and infiltrating cells in the lamina propria.BLT1 deficiency in DCs led to reduced production of proinflammatory cytokines,including IL-6,TNF-α,and IL-12,and these results were further confirmed via treatment with a BLT1 antagonist.The impaired cytokine production by BLT1−/−DCs subsequently led to reduced Th1 and Th17 differentiation both in vitro and in vivo.We further performed a conditional DC reconstitution experiment to assess whether BLT1 in DCs plays a major role in regulating the pathogenesis of TNBS-induced colitis,and the results indicate that BLT1 deficiency in DCs also significantly reduces disease severity.The mechanistic study demonstrated that BLT1-regulated proinflammatory cytokine production through the Gαiβγsubunit-phospholipase Cβ(PLCβ)-PKC pathway.Notably,we found that treatment with the BLT1 antagonist also reduced the production of proinflammatory cytokines by human peripheral blood DCs.Our findings reveal the critical role of BLT1 in regulating adaptive immunity and TNBS-induced colitis,which further supports BLT1 as a potential drug target for adaptive immunity-mediated IBD. | Jinfeng Zhou Weiming Lai Wanjie Yang Juping Pan Hu Shen Yingying Cai Cuixia Yang Ningjia Ma Yue Zhang Ru Zhang Xin Xie Zhongjun Dong Yuan Gao Changsheng Du | 2018 | Cellular & Molecular Immunology2018,15,12: | 9 |

Rare earth ores canbe divided into the single-mineral type ore with bastnaesite, the multi-mineral type ore with bastnaesite and monazite, andthe weathering crust type. Both the Bayan Obo rare earth ore and the Zhushan rare earth ore are a kind of mixed ore, con-sisting of bastnaesite and monazite. Their rare earth partitionings are strongly enriched in light rare earths, where CeO2 is50% and the light rare earth partitioning is totally over 95%. The Mianning rare earth ore as well as the Weishan rare earthis a kind of rare earth ore only having bastnaesite. Their rare earth partitionings are also strongly enriched in light rare earths,in which CeO2 is 47% and the light rare earth partitioning is totally over 94%. For the weathering crust type rare earth ore,there are the Longnan rare earth ore, the Xunwu rare earth ore, and the middle yttrium and rich europium ore. In the Long-nan rare earth ore, which is strongly enriched in heavy rare earths, Y2O3 is 64.83%, and the heavy and light rare earthpartitionings are 89.40% and 10.53%, respectively. In the Xunwu rare earth ore, which is strongly enriched in light rareearths, CeO2 is 47.16%, and the light rare earth partitioning is totally 93.25%. | 13 | Biodegradation of dissolved organic carbon in soil extracts and leachates from a temperate forest stand and its relationship to ultraviolet absorbance显示文摘The amount and biodegradability of dissolved organic carbon (DOC) in forest floors can contribute to carbon sequestration in soils and the release of CO 2-C from soil to the atmosphere.There is only limited knowledge about the biodegradation of DOC in soil extracts and leachates due to the limitations inherent in degradation experiments.Differences in the biodegradation of DOC were studied in forest soil extracts using cold and hot water and 4 mmol/L CaCl 2 solution and in soil leachates sampled under different conditions over a wide range of DOC concentrations.From these results,we developed a simple and rapid method for determining the biodegradable organic C in forest floors.The hot water extracts and CaCl 2 extracts after CH 3 Cl fumigation contained higher concentrations of biodegradable organic C than the cold water extracts and CaCl 2 extracts before fumigation,with rapid DOC degradation occurring 24-48 h after incubation with an inoculum,followed by slow DOC degradation till 120-168 h into the incubation.During a 7-d incubation with an inoculum,the variation in DOC degradation in the different soil extracts was consistent with the change in special UV absorbance at 254 nm.Relatively higher levels of biodegradable organic C were detected in soil leachates from the forest canopy than in forest gaps between April and October 2008 (P <0.05).Relatively lower concentrations of DOC and biodegradable organic C were observed in soil leachates from N-fertilized plots during the growing season compared with the control,with the exception of the plot treated with KNO 3 at a rate of 45 kg N ha 1 a 1.Around 77.4% to 96.3% of the variability in the biodegradable organic C concentrations in the forest floors could be accounted for by the initial DOC concentration and UV absorbance at 254 nm.Compared with the conventional inoculum incubation method,the method of analyzing UV absorbance at 254 nm is less time consuming and requires a much smaller sample volume.The results suggest that the regression models obtained using the initial DOC concentration and UV absorbance can provide a rapid,simple and reliable method for determining the biodegradable organic C content,especially in field studies involving relatively large numbers of samples. | XU XingKai LUO XianBaot JIANG SongHua XU ZhongJun | 2012 | Chinese Science Bulletin2012,57,8: | 7 |

| 16 | Graphene/phosphorene nano-heterojunction:facile synthesis, nonlinear optics, and ultrafast photonics applications with enhanced performance显示文摘Owing to its thickness-modulated direct energy band gap, relatively strong light–matter interaction, and unique nonlinear optical response at a long wavelength, few-layer black phosphorus, or phosphorene, becomes very attractive in ultrafast photonics applications. Herein, we synthesized a graphene/phosphorene nano-heterojunction using a liquid phase-stripping method. Tiny lattice distortions in graphene and phosphorene suggest the formation of a nano-heterojunction between graphene and phosphorene nanosheets. In addition, we systematically investigate their nonlinear optical responses at different wavelength regimes. Our experiments indicate that the combined advantages of ultrafast relaxation, broadband response in graphene, and the strong light–matter interaction in phosphorene can be combined together by nano-heterojunction. We have further fabricated two-dimensional(2D) nano-heterojunction based optical saturable absorbers and integrated them into an erbium-doped fiber laser to demonstrate the generation of a stable ultrashort pulse down to 148 fs. Our results indicate that a graphene/phosphorene nano-heterojunction can operate as a promising saturable absorber for ultrafast laser systems with ultrahigh pulse energy and ultranarrow pulse duration. | 20 | Combined deficiency of SLAMF8 and SLAMF9 prevents endotoxin-induced liver inflammation by downregulating TLR4 expression on macrophages显示文摘Classical signaling lymphocyte activating molecule(SLAM)family receptors are abundant within many types of immune cells,whereas the nonclassical SLAM family receptors SLAMF8 and SLAMF9,which uniquely lack cytoplasmic signaling motifs,are highly expressed by myeloid cells.Due to the potential redundancy,whether these two receptors regulate macrophage function remains largely unknown.Here,we show that SLAMF8 and SLAMF9 co-regulate macrophage-mediated liver inflammation.To overcome the redundancy,we generated mice that simultaneously lacked SLAMF8 and SLAMF9 using CRISPR-Cas9 technology.Although macrophage differentiation was not altered by the combined deficiency of SLAMF8 and SLAMF9,the loss of these two receptors significantly protected against lipopolysaccharide(LPS)-induced liver injury.SLAMF8 and SLAMF9 double-deficient mice had a prolonged survival rate and less infiltration of inflammatory cells.The depletion of macrophages using clodronate liposomes abolished the effects of SLAMF8 and SLAMF9 deficiencies on LPS-induced liver injury,which demonstrates that these receptors are required for macrophage activation following LPS challenge.Moreover,the deficiency of SLAMF8 and SLAMF9 suppressed the secretion of inflammatory cytokines by downregulating the expression of Toll-like receptor-4(TLR4),a receptor that specifically binds LPS,which led to decreased mitogen-activated protein kinases(MAPK)signaling activation.Notably,combined injections of truncated extracellular SLAMF8 and SLAMF9 proteins significantly alleviated LPS-induced liver injury.Thus,our findings provide insights into the role of SLAMF8 and SLAMF9 in endotoxin-induced liver injury and suggest that SLAMF8 and SLAMF9 are potential therapeutic targets for acute hepatic injury. | Xiaokang Zeng Guangao Liu Wanwen Peng Junming He Chenxu Cai Wei Xiong Shasha Chen Meixiang Yang Zhongjun Dong | 2020 | Cellular & Molecular Immunology2020,17,2: | 5 |
