1Fractionation of heavy metals in shallow marine sediments from Jinzhou Bay,China显示文摘This work investigated the distribution and speciation of Cd, Cu, Pb, Fe and Mn in the shallow sediments of Jinzhou Bay, Northeast China, which has been heavily contaminated by nonferrous smelting activities. The concentrations of Cd, Cu and Pb in sediments were found to be 100, 13 and 7 times, respectively, being higher than the national guideline (GB 18668-2002). Sequential extraction test showed that 39%-61% of Cd were exchangeable fractions, indicating that Cd in the sediments posed a high risk to local environments. While Cu and Pb were at moderate risk levels. 2GC-MS, GC-O and OAV analyses of key aroma compounds in Jiaozi Steamed Bread显示文摘Jiaozi Steamed Bread(JSB)has a unique aroma as a traditional staple food in China.The volatile compounds in JSBwere extracted by simultaneous distillation and extraction(SDE)and headspace solid-phasemicroextraction(HS-SPME).These volatile substances were analyzed by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry(GC-MS)and gas chromatographyolfactometry-mass spectrometry(GC-O-MS).The results demonstrated that 61 volatile compounds were identified totally in samples,of which 15 were confirmed as potent aroma compounds with odor active values(OAVs)>1.The 15 potent aroma compounds were ethanol,1-butanol,1-pentanol,1-hexanol,heptanol,1-octen-3-ol,3-methyl-1-butanol,hexanal,heptanal,nonanal,(E)-2-heptenal,benzaldehyde,(E,E)-2,4-decadienal,2-pentylfuran and naphthalene.The SDEmethod had better linearity with coefficients of determination(R2)equal to or higher than 0.9991.Furthermore,the SDE method also achieved lower sensitivity and better repeatability and recovery than HS-SPME.This work provides reference method and parameters for future research on the flavor of JSB for commercial products.Yuanhui Wang Jingwen Zhao Fei Xu Xiaoyun Wu Wenxuan Hu Yongfeng Chang Lanlan Zhang Jie Chen Changhong Liu 2020Grain & Oil Science and Technology2020,3,1:17
3Blocking FSH inhibits hepatic cholesterol biosynthesis and reduces serum cholesterol显示文摘Menopause is associated with dyslipidemia and an increased risk of cardio-cerebrovascular disease.The classic view assumes that the underlying mechanism of dyslipidemia is attributed to an insufficiency of estrogen.In addition to a decrease in estrogen, circulating follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH)levels become elevated at menopause.In this study,we find that blocking FSH reduces serum cholesterol via inhibiting hepatic cholesterol biosynthesis.First,epidemiological results show that the serum FSH levels are positively correlated with the serum total cholesterol levels,even after adjustment by considering the effects of serum estrogen,in addition,the prevalence of hypercholesterolemia is significantly higher in peri-menopausal women than that in premenopausal women.Furthermore,we generated a mouse model of FSH elevation by intraperitoneally injecting exogenous FSH into ovariectomized (OVX)mice,in which a normal level of estrogen (E2)was maintained by exogenous supplementation. Consistently,the results indicate that FSH,independent of estrogen,increases the serum cholesterol level in this mouse model. 4Establishment of a novel corneal endothelial cell line from domestic rabbit,Oryctolagus curiculus显示文摘To develop a rabbit corneal endothelial (RCE) cell line, in vitro culture of RCE cells was initiated from Oryctolagus curiculus corneas and a novel RCE cell line was established in this study. To initiate the primary culture of RCE cells, corneas from rabbit eyes were sliced and attached into glutin-coated wells with endothelial cell surface down. After being cultured at a time-gradient interval from 48 to 6 h, the corneal slices were detached and reattached into new wells, respectively. Cells in the wells containing only a pure population of RCE cells were collected and cultured in 20% FBS-DMEM/F12 medium con- taining chondroitin sulfate, ocular extract, epidermal growth factor (EGF), basic fibroblast growth factor (bFGF), carboxymethyl-chitosan, N-acetylglucosamine hydrochloride, glucosamine hydrochloride, culture medium of rabbit corneal stromal cells and oxidation-degradation products of chondroitin sul- fate at 37℃, 5% CO2. The cultured RCE cells, in quadrangle and polygonal shapes, proliferated to con- fluence 3 weeks later. During the subsequent subculture, the shape of RCE cells changed gradually from polygonal to more fibroblastic. A novel RCE cell line, growing at a steady rate, with a population doubling time of 53.8 h, has been established and subcultured to passage 67. Chromosome analysis showed that the RCE cells exhibited chromosomal aneuploidy with the modal chromosome number of 44. The results of immuno-cytochemical staining with neuron specific enolase (NSE) confirmed that the RCE cells were in neuroectodermal origin. Combined with the results of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) treatment and endothelial cell morphology recovery, it can be concluded that the cell line established here is an RCE cell line. 5A high-strength,ductile Al-0.35Sc-0.2Zr alloy with good electrical conductivity strengthened by coherent nanosized-precipitates显示文摘Ductility and electrical conductivity of metallic materials are inversely correlated with their strength,resulting in a difficulty of optimizing all three simultaneously. We design an Al-Sc-Zr-based alloy using semisolid extrusion to yield a good trade-off between strength and ductility along with excellent electrical conductivity. The Al-0.35Sc-0.2Zr wire with a diameter of 3 mm exhibited the best combined properties: a tensile strength of 210 ± 2 MPa, elongation of 7.6% ± 0.5%, and an electrical conductivity of 34.9 ± 0.05 MS/m. The average particle size of nanosized Al_3(Sc, Zr) precipitates increased from 6.5 ± 0.5 nm to 25.0 ± 0.5 nm as the aging time increased from 1 h to 96 h at 380 °C, accompanied by the corresponding volume fraction variation from(6.2 ± 0.1) × 10^(-4) to(3.7 ± 0.1) × 10^(-3). 6Outcome of multimodal MRI-guided intravenous thrombolysis in patients with stroke with unknown time of onset显示文摘Objective Intravenous tissue plasminogen activator(tPA)is the standard therapy for patients with acute ischaemic stroke(AIS)within 4.5 hours of onset.Recent trials have expanded the endovascular treatment window to 24 hours.We investigated the efficacy and safety of using multimodal MRI to guide intravenous tPA treatment for patients with AIS of unknown time of onset(UTO).Methods Data on patients with AIS with UTO and within 4.5 hours of onset were reviewed.Data elements collected and analysed included:demographics,National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale(NIHSS)score at baseline and 2 hours,24 hours,7 days after thrombolysis and before discharge,the modified Rankin Scale(mRS)score at 3 months after discharge,imaging findings and any adverse event.results Forty-two patients with UTO and 62 in control group treated within 4.5 hours of onset were treated with intravenous tPA.The NIHSS scores after thrombolysis and/or before discharge in UTO group were significantly improved compared with the baseline(p<0.05).Between the two groups,no significant differences in NIHSS score were observed(p>0.05).Utilising the non-inferiority test,to compare mRS scores(0-2)at 3 months between the two groups,the difference was 5.2%(92%CI,OR 0.196).Patients in the UTO group had mRS scores of 0-2,which were non-inferior to the control group.Their incidence of adverse events was similar.Conclusions Utilising multimodal MRI to guide intravenous only thrombolysis for patients with AIS with UTO was safe and effective.In those patients with AIS between 6 and 24 hours of time of onset but without large arterial occlusion,intravenous thrombolysis could be considered an option.Jie Zhao Hongmei Zhao Runtao Li Jiangtao Li Chang Liu Juan Lv Yanan Li Wei Liu Dongpu Ma Huaihai Hao Xinguang Xiao Junzhong Liu Yongfeng Yin Rongli Liu Qiaoyan Yu Yingjie Wei Pengyan Li Yue Wang Runqing Wang 2019Stroke & Vascular Neurology2019,4,1:8
7Task-related functional magnetic resonance imaging-based neuronavigation for the treatment of depression by individualized repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation of the visual cortex显示文摘To determine whether repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation(rTMS)of the visual cortex(VC)provides effective and welltolerated treatment and whether magnetic resonance imaging(MRI)measures functional change of the VC as a biomarker of therapeutic effect in major depressive disorder(MDD),we performed a sham-controlled,double-blind,randomized,three-arm VC rTMS treatment study in 74 MDD patients.Neuronavigated rTMS(10 Hz,90%of resting motor threshold,1,600 pulses over20 min twice per day)was performed over the VC for five days.Clinical outcome was measured by Hamilton Depression Rating Scale(HAMD-24)at days 0,1,3,5 and after terminating rTMS,with follow-up at four weeks.MRI was measured at days 0 and5.The individualized group exhibited the greatest change in HAMD-24 scores after VC rTMS for 5 days(F=5.53,P=0.005),which were maintained during follow-up period(F=4.22,P=0.016).All patients reported good tolerance.Changes in VC taskrelated functional MRI correlated with symptomatic reduction in the individualized group.Treatment reduced the initially abnormal increase in resting state functional connectivity from the VC to the pre/subgenual anterior cingulate cortex at day 5,especially in the individualized group.We demonstrated therapeutic potential and good tolerance of VC rTMS in MDD patients,indicated by biomarkers of f MRI measurement.Zhijun Zhang Hongxing Zhang Chun-Ming Xie Meng Zhang Yachen Shi Ruize Song Xiang Lu Haisan Zhang Kun Li Bi Wang Yongfeng Yang Xianrui Li Jianli Zhu Yang Zhao Ti-Fei Yuan Georg Northoff 2021Science China(Life Sciences)2021,64,1:8
8Prediction of the anti-inflammatory mechanisms of curcumin by module-based protein interaction network analysis显示文摘Curcumin,the medically active component from Curcuma longa(Turmeric),is widely used to treat inflammatory diseases.Protein interaction network(PIN) analysis was used to predict its mechanisms of molecular action.Targets of curcumin were obtained based on ChE MBL and STITCH databases.Protein–protein interactions(PPIs) were extracted from the String database.The PIN of curcumin was constructed by Cytoscape and the function modules identified by gene ontology(GO) enrichment analysis based on molecular complex detection(MCODE).A PIN of curcumin with 482 nodes and 1688 interactions was constructed,which has scale-free,small world and modular properties.Based on analysis of these function modules,the mechanism of curcumin is proposed.Two modules were found to be intimately associated with inflammation.With function modules analysis,the anti-inflammatory effects of curcumin were related to SMAD,ERG and mediation by the TLR family.TLR9 may be a potential target of curcumin to treat inflammation.Yanxiong Gan Shichao Zheng Jan P.A.Baak Silei Zhao Yongfeng Zheng Nini Luo Wan Liao Chaomei Fu 2015Acta Pharmaceutica Sinica B2015,5,6:5
9Effects of Cu^(2+)and humic acids on degradation and fate of TBBPA in pure culture of Pseudomonas sp.strain CDT显示文摘Soil contamination with tetrabromobisphenol A(TBBPA) has caused great concerns;however, the presence of heavy metals and soil organic matter on the biodegradation of TBBPA is still unclear. We isolated Pseudomonas sp. strain CDT, a TBBPA-degrading bacterium, from activated sludge and incubated it with ^(14)C-labeled TBBPA for 87 days in the absence and presence of Cu^(2+)and humic acids(HA). TBBPA was degraded to organic-solvent extractable(59.4% ± 2.2%) and non-extractable(25.1% ± 1.3%) metabolites,mineralized to CO_2(4.8% ± 0.8%), and assimilated into cells(10.6% ± 0.9%) at the end of incubation. When Cu^(2+)was present, the transformation of extractable metabolites into non-extractable metabolites and mineralization were inhibited, possibly due to the toxicity of Cu^(2+)to cells. HA significantly inhibited both dissipation and mineralization of TBBPA and altered the fate of TBBPA in the culture by formation of HA-bound residues that amounted to 22.1% ± 3.7% of the transformed TBBPA. The inhibition from HA was attributed to adsorption of TBBPA and formation of bound residues with HA via reaction of reactive metabolites with HA molecules, which decreased bioavailability of TBBPA and metabolites in the culture. When Cu^(2+)and HA were both present, Cu^(2+)significantly promoted the HA inhibition on TBBPA dissipation but not on metabolite degradation. 10Spatial and temporal evolutions of groundwater arsenic approximately along the flow path in the Hetao basin, Inner Mongolia显示文摘Patchy distribution of high As groundwater has normally been observed in As-affected areas. Spatial and temporal evolutions help in better understanding mechanisms of As mobilization and in developing effective strategies for ensuring drinking water safety. Four multilevel samplers were installed approximately along the groundwater flow path to investigate spatial and temporal variations in groundwater As in the Hetao basin, Inner Mongolia. Both water chemistry and groundwater level were monitored for about two years. Groundwater As concentration generally showed increasing trends, and Eh values showed decreasing trends along the flow path, indicating that As was mobilized via reductive dissolution of Fe oxides. However, in evaporation discharge area, shallow groundwater As was generally lower than those upstream and downstream. In addition to evaporation, siderite and pyrite precipitations controlled groundwater As concentrations. The negative correlations between As concentration and SIpyrite (or SIsiderite) implied that siderite and pyrite precipitations wold scavenge groundwater As and lower As concentration. Temporal variation showed different trends in different locations. It may reflect replenishment of high/low As groundwater for the increase/decrease in As concentrations, resulting from water level fluctuation. The increase trends in groundwater As concentrations at depth around 15m in the discharge areas would result from the increase in the recharge of underlying groundwater (20m) with high As concentration due to enhanced evaporation in the seasons with high water levels. 12Impact of external carbon source on A2/O system and its biological phosphorus and nitrogen removal efficiency before and after restoration显示文摘以啤酒废水作为外加碳源,研究了不同浓度外加碳源对A2/O系统的冲击情况,并通过调节工艺参数对系统进行修复,对比了修复前后系统的脱氮除磷效果。结果表明,投加低浓度(COD为50mg/L)外加碳源没有影响系统的正常运行,且有助于提高系统的脱氮除磷效率;用COD为150mg/L的啤酒废水对系统进行冲击时,总氮、氨氮、总磷和COD的去除率均有所下降,依次下降了31.53、16.38、7.61、10.19百分点;经过修复后,与冲击前相比较,各分析指标的去除率略有降低。用高浓度(COD为250nag/L)的啤酒废水冲击A2/O系统,冲击期间各分析指标显著下降,且产生轻微的污泥膨胀,修复后各分析指标去除率依次降低了11.75、9.56、21.20、20.79百分点。实验表明,啤酒废水可以作为外加碳源用以调节系统的C/N,且A0/o系统对浓度变化的冲击具有一定的抵抗力。LIU Fangjing DUAN Yitong ZHAO Jianhui CHENG Guoling LI Yongfeng 2014环境污染与防治2014,36,4:4
13Up-regulation of glycolipid transfer protein by bicyclol causes spontaneous restriction of hepatitis C virus replication显示文摘Bicyclol is a synthetic drug for hepatoprotection in clinic since 2004. Preliminary clinical observations suggest that bicyclol might be active against hepatitis C virus(HCV) with unknown mechanism. Here, we showed that bicyclol significantly inhibited HCV replication in vitro and in hepatitis C patients. Using bicyclol as a probe, we identified glycolipid transfer protein(GLTP) to be a novel restrictive factor for HCV replication. The GLTP preferentially bound host vesicle-associated membrane protein-associated protein-A(VAP-A) in competition with the HCV NS5 A, causing an interruption of the complex formation between VAP-A and HCV NS5 A. As the formation of VAP-A/NS5 A complex is essential for viral RNA replication, up-regulation of GLTP by bicyclol reduced the level of VAP-A/NS5 A complex and thus inhibited HCV replication. Bicyclol also exhibited an inhibition on HCV variants resistant to direct-acting antiviral agents(DAAs) with an efficacy identical to that on wild type HCV. In combination with bicyclol, DAAs inhibited HCV replication in a synergistic fashion. 15Colour compound lenses for a portable fluorescence microscope显示文摘In this article,we demonstrated a handheld smartphone fluorescence microscope(HSFM)that integrates dualfunctional polymer lenses with a smartphone.The HSFM consists of a smartphone,a field-portable illumination source,and a dual-functional polymer lens that performs both optical imaging and filtering.Therefore,compared with the existing smartphone fluorescence microscope,the HSFM does not need any additional optical filters.Although fluorescence imaging has traditionally played an indispensable role in biomedical and clinical applications due to its high specificity and sensitivity for detecting cells,proteins,DNAs/RNAs,etc.,the bulky elements of conventional fluorescence microscopes make them inconvenient for use in point-of-care diagnosis.The HSFM demonstrated in this article solves this problem by providing a multifunctional,miniature,small-form-factor fluorescence module.This multifunctional fluorescence module can be seamlessly attached to any smartphone camera for both bright-field and fluorescence imaging at cellular-scale resolutions without the use of additional bulky lenses/filters;in fact,the HSFM achieves magnification and light filtration using a single lens.Cell and tissue observation,cell counting,plasmid transfection evaluation,and superoxide production analysis were performed using this device.Notably,this lens system has the unique capability of functioning with numerous smartphones,irrespective of the smartphone model and the camera technology housed within each device.As such,this HSFM has the potential to pave the way for realtime point-of-care diagnosis and opens up countless possibilities for personalized medicine.Bo Dai Ziao Jiao Lulu Zheng Hunter Bachman Yongfeng Fu Xinjun Wan Yule Zhang Yu Huang Xiaodian Han Chenglong Zhao Tony Jun Huang Songlin Zhuang Dawei Zhang 2019Light(Science & Applications)2019,8,1:3
16Crashworthiness Optimization Design of Thin-Walled Tube Filled with Re-entrant Triangles Honeycombs显示文摘A novel re-entrant triangles-filled tube(RTT)is proposed through decoupling structural stiffness and energy absorption.Inner re-entrant triangles are employed to satisfy energy absorption,and outer thin wall is used to acquire high stiffness.This paper starts from establishment of theoretical models between geometric parameters of re-entrant triangles and relative density,equivalent elastic modulus and energy absorption characteristics,which are validated by experiments.On this basis,the optimal geometric parameters of unit cell are sought to maximize unit volume energy absorption and minimize relative density by adopting NSGA-II method.Subsequently,the cross-section of tube with optimal stiffness is obtained with targets for maximizing axial stiffness and lateral stiffness by employing static topology optimization method.To verify the proposed optimization method,RTT is analyzed and compared with positive Poisson’s ratio foam-filled tube(PFT),non-filled traditionally optimized tube(NTT)and pre-optimized square tube(PST).The results show that the novel RTT can improve stiffness and energy absorption performance simultaneously.Compared with the positive Poisson’s ratio material,re-entrant triangles honeycomb shows superior advantages in energy absorption.In comparison with the PFT,energy absorption of the RTT increases by 17.23%,and the peak crush force reduces by 5.04%.Therefore,the proposed decoupling design method demonstrates superiority in satisfying various performance requirements simultaneously.Fangwu Ma Ying Zhao Guowang Wang Liang Wu Yongfeng Pu 2019Automotive Innovation2019,2,1:3
17Conductive photo-thermal responsive bifunctional hydrogel system with self-actuating and self-monitoring abilities显示文摘Despite enormous efforts in actuators,most researches are only limited to various actuation behaviors and demonstrations of soft materials.It has not yet been reported to capture and monitor its movement status in an invisible environment.Therefore,it is of great significance to develop a self-sensing and self-actuating dual-function hydrogel actuator system to realize real-time monitoring.Here,we report a bifunctional hydrogel system with self-actuating and self-monitoring abilities,which combines the functions of photothermal actuation and electrical resistance sensing into a single material.The bilayer tough conductive hydrogel synthesized by unconventional complementary concentration recombination and cryogenic freezing technique presents a dense conductive network and high-porosity structure,achieving high toughness at 190.3 kPa of tensile strength,high stretchability(164.3%strain),and the toughness dramatically(1,471.4 kJ·m^(−3)).The working mechanism of the monitoring and self-sensing system is accomplished through the integrated monitoring device of surface temperature–bending angle–electron current,to solve the problem of not apperceiving actuator motion state when encountering obstacles in an invisible environment.We demonstrated for the first time a photothermal actuator’s motion of a football player and goalkeeper to finish the penalty and a soft actuator hand,which can achieve the action of sticking to grab and release under photo-thermal actuation.When connected to the control closed circuit,the actuator realized closed-loop monitoring and sensing feedback.The development of bifunctional hydrogel systems may bring new opportunities and ideas in the fields of material science,circuit technology,sensors,and mechanical engineering.Neng Chen Yang Zhou Yinping Liu Yuanyuan Mi Sisi Zhao Wang Yang Sai Che Hongchen liu FengJiang Chen Chong Xu Guang Ma Xue Peng Yongfeng Li 2022Nano Research2022,15,8:3
18Atomic layer deposition-induced integration of N-doped carbon particles on carbon foam for flexible supercapacitor显示文摘Flexible devices have attracted abundant attention in energy storage systems.In this paper,we presented a novel approach for fabricating flexible supercapacitor based on metal organic frameworks-derived material.In this approach,a uniform zeolitic imidazolate frameworks-8 layer with a high mass loading was deposited on a flexible carbon foam(CF)skeleton efficiently by the induction of a uniform ZnO nanomembrane prepared via an atomic layer deposition technique.A flexible N-doped carbon particle-carbon foam(N-CP-CF)composite with a hierarchically porous structure and a large specific surface area(i.e.,538 m^(2) g^(-1))was obtained in a subsequent pyrolysis process.The resultant materials have the excellent electrochemical performance(i.e.,a high specific capacitance of 300 F g^(-1) and a high energy density of 20.8 W h kg^(-1)).The N-CP-CF composite can provide a stable capacitance(i.e.,250 F g^(-1))and an energy density(i.e.,17.36 W h kg^(-1))under large deformation(25% of original thickness).This work could propose a promising strategy in fabrication of flexible electrode with a large potential towards energy storage applications in the future.Zhe Zhao Ye Kong Chang Liu Jinrun Liu Zhijie Wang Gengfeng Zheng Gaoshan Huang Yongfeng Mei 2020Journal of Materiomics2020,6,1:3
