| 1 | SERK Receptor-like Kinases Control Division Patterns of Vascular Precursors and Ground Tissue Stem Cells during Embryo Development in Arabidopsis显示文摘During embryo development, the vascular precursors and ground tissue stem cells divide to renew them-selves and produce the vascular tissue, endodermal cells, and cortical cells. However, the molecular mech-anisms regulating division of these stem cells have remained largely elusive. In this study, we show that loss of function of SOMATIC EMBRYOGENESIS RECEPTOR-UKE KINASE (SERK) genes results in aberrant em-bryo development. Fewer cortical, endodermal, and vascular cells are generated in the embryos of serk1 serk2bak1 triple mutants. WUSCHEL-RELATED HOMBOBOX5 (WOXS) is ectopically expressed in vascular cells of serkl serk2 bak1 embryos. The first transverse division of vascular precursors in mid-globular em-bryos and second asymmetric division of ground tissue stem cells in early-heart embryos are abnormally altered to a longitudinal division. The embryo defects can be partially rescued by constitutively activated mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) kinase kinase YODA (YDA) and MAPK kinase MKK5. | 2 | APOE and APOC1 gene polymorphisms are associated with cognitive impairment progression in Chinese patients with late-onset Alzheimer's disease显示文摘Current evidence shows that apolipoprotein E(APOE), apolipoprotein CI(APOC1) and low density lipoprotein receptor-related protein(LRP) variations are related to late-onset Alzheimer's disease. However, it remains unclear if genetic polymorphisms in these genes are associated with cognitive decline in late-onset Alzheimer's disease patients. We performed a 30-month longitudinal cohort study to investigate the relationship between Alzheimer's disease and APOE, APOC1, and LRP. In this study, 78 Chinese Han patients with late-onset Alzheimer's disease were recruited form Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region in China. APOE, APOC1, and LRP genotyping was performed using polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphisms. The Mini-Mental State Examination and Clinical Dementia Rating Scale were used to assess patients' cognitive function. After a 30-month follow-up period, we found a significant reduction in Mini-Mental State Examination total score, a higher proportion of patients fulfilling cognitive impairment progression criteria, and a higher proportion of APOC1 H2 carriers in APOE ε4 carriers compared with non-carriers. In addition, the APOE ε4 allele frequency was significantly higher in the cognitive impairment progression group compared with the non-cognitive impairment progression group. | 3 | Non-suicidal self-injury in Shanghai inner bound middle school students显示文摘Background Non-suicidal self-injury (NSSI) behaviour is very common among adolescents. Its prevalence and behavioural characteristics may vary according to regional and cultural differences. Investigation of NSSI locations and diagnosis of adolescents with NSSI are relatively lacking in China. Aims The study objective was to determine the prevalence and features of NSSI among middle school students in Shanghai. Methods The participants were from grade 6 to 8 selected from three junior schools in Jing’an District. Consenting students completed the Ottawa Self-Injury Inventory to determine the prevalence and characteristics of NSSI. Those who indicated NSSI within the past month were administered the Mini-International Neuropsychiatric Interview for Children and Adolescents to assess for emotional disorders. Result The result shows 510 participants (21.7%;mean age 13.51 (0.97) years old;56.7% female) reported at least one instance of NSSI during the previous 12 months. NSSI was significantly more common in girls than boys (24.9% vs 18.5%;χ^2=14.03, p=0.00). Commonly reported reasons for NSSI were for internal and external emotion regulation (87.9%, 82.3%) and social influence (57.8%). Anxiety disorders were the most common (28.9%) disorder associated with NSSI. Conclusion The rate of NSSI of middle school students in Shanghai inner bound is similar to those reported in North American and European youth. | 12 | Bioinspired polymeric heart valves derived from polyurethane and natural cellulose fibers显示文摘In this work,bioinspired anisotropic polymeric heart valves were fabricated using composite materials from polyurethane(PU)and natural cellulose fiber bundles.Cellulose fibers with good alignment were obtained from balsa wood by a top-down process,which were then distributed in polyurethane to pre-pare cellulose fiber bundles reinforced polyurethane(CPU)by hot pressing.The storage modulus of the CPU along the direction parallel to the fiber alignment was 16.70±0.80 MPa,whereas that along the direction perpendicular to the fiber alignment was 8.41±0.94 MPa by dynamic mechanical analysis(DMA)tests at 1 Hz,comparable to aortic valve leaflets.Moreover,2-methacryloyloxyethyl phosphoryl-choline(MPC)was grafted onto the CPU surface(CPU-MPC)to improve hemocompatibility.With MPC modification,the water contact angle decreased significantly from 54.58°±2.98°to 26.42°±3.50°,and the platelet adhesion was reduced by 92%,compared to the original CPU.In vitro cell culture proved that both CPU and CPU-MPC samples did not show any cytotoxicity.Furthermore,the CPU composites were used to fabricate polymeric heart valves,which showed excellent hydrodynamic performance with a large orifice area(1.70 cm 2)and low regurgitation fraction(0.7%),meeting the requirements of ISO 5840-2 standard. | Feng Guo Rizheng Han Jishan Ying Zeping Zhang Rui Yang Xing Zhang | 2023 | Journal of Materials Science & Technology2023，，13： | 0 |

A well-known result on harmonic maps between surfaces shows that there exists no harmonic map from a torus into a sphere(whatever the metrics chosen) in the homotopy class of maps of Brower degree±1. It would be interesting to know if there exists any biharmonic map in that homotopy class of maps. The authors obtain some classifications on biharmonic maps from a torus into a sphere, where the torus is provided with a flat or a class of non-flat metrics whilst the sphere is provided with the standard metric.
