6Carbon carry capacity and carbon sequestration potential in China based on an integrated analysis of mature forest biomass显示文摘Forests play an important role in acting as a carbon sink of terrestrial ecosystem.Although global forests have huge carbon carrying capacity(CCC)and carbon sequestration potential(CSP),there were few quantification reports on Chinese forests.We collected and compiled a forest biomass dataset of China,a total of 5841 sites,based on forest inventory and literature search results.From the dataset we extracted 338 sites with forests aged over 80 years,a threshold for defining mature forest,to establish the mature forest biomass dataset.After analyzing the spatial pattern of the carbon density of Chinese mature forests and its controlling factors,we used carbon density of mature forests as the reference level,and conservatively estimated the CCC of the forests in China by interpolation methods of Regression Kriging,Inverse Distance Weighted and Partial Thin Plate Smoothing Spline.Combining with the sixth National Forest Resources Inventory,we also estimated the forest CSP.The results revealed positive relationships between carbon density of mature forests and temperature,precipitation and stand age,and the horizontal and elevational patterns of carbon density of mature forests can be well predicted by temperature and precipitation.The total CCC and CSP of the existing forests are 19.87 and 13.86 Pg C,respectively.Subtropical forests would have more CCC and CSP than other biomes.Consequently,relying on forests to uptake carbon by decreasing disturbance on forests would be an alternative approach for mitigating greenhouse gas concentration effects besides afforestation and reforestation.LIU Ying Chun YU Gui Rui WANG Qiu Feng ZHANG Yang Jian XU Ze Hong 2014Science China(Life Sciences)2014,57,12:15

10Apolipoprotein E, amyloid-beta, and neuroinflammation in Alzheimer's disease显示文摘Alzheimer's disease(AD) is characterized by the accumulation and deposition of amyloid-beta(Aβ) peptides in the brain. Neuroinflammation occurs in the AD brain and plays a critical role in the neurodegenerative pathology. Particularly, Aβ evokes an inflammatory response that leads to synaptic dysfunction, neuronal death, and neurodegeneration. Apolipoprotein E(ApoE) proteins are involved in cholesterol transport, Aβ binding and clearance, and synaptic functions in the brain. The ApoE4 isoform is a key risk factor for AD, while the ApoE2 isoform has a neuroprotective effect. However, studies have reached different conclusions about the roles of the isoforms; some show that both ApoE3 and ApoE4 have anti-infl ammatory effects, while others show that ApoE4 causes a predisposition to inflammation or promotes an inflammatory response following lipopolysaccharide treatment. These discrepancies may result from the differences in models, cell types, experimental conditions, and inflammatory stimuli used. Further, little was known about the role of ApoE isoforms in the Aβ-induced inflammatory response and in the neuroinflammation of AD. Our recent work showed that ApoE isoforms differentially regulate and modify the Aβ-induced infl ammatory response in neural cells, with ApoE2 suppressing and ApoE4 promoting the response. 12Effect of SiO_2/Na_2O mole ratio on the properties of foam geopolymers fabricated from circulating fluidized bed fly ash显示文摘Geopolymers are three-dimensional aluminosilicates formed in a short time at low temperature by geopolymerization. In this paper, alkali-activated foam geopolymers were fabricated from circulating fluidized bed fly ash(CFA), and the effect of SiO2/Na2O mole ratio(0.91–1.68) on their properties was studied. Geopolymerization products were characterized by mechanical testing, scanning electron microscopy(SEM), energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy(EDX), and X-ray diffraction(XRD). The results show that SiO2/Na2O mole ratio plays an important role in the mechanical and morphological characteristics of geopolymers. Foam samples prepared in 28 d with a SiO2/Na2O mole ratio of 1.42 exhibit the greatest compressive strength of 2.52 MPa. Morphological analysis reveals that these foam geopolymers appear the relatively optimized pore structure and distribution, which are beneficial to the structure stability. 14Changes in Activities of Glutamine Synthetase during Grain Filling and Their Relation to Rice Quality显示文摘Four japonica rice varieties differed in cooking and eating qualities were used in a pot experiment to study the relationship between the activities of glutamine synthetase during grain filling and rice quality. The activities of glutamine synthetase gradually increased and then declined as a single peak curve in the course of grain filling. The 15th day after heading was a turning point, before which the enzymatic activities in the inferior rice varieties with high protein content were higher than those in the superior rice varietie with low protein content, and after which it was converse. The activity of glutamine synthetase in grain was correlated with the taste meter value, peak viscosity and breakdown negatively at the early stage of grain filling whereas positively at the middle and late stages. Moreover, it was correlated with the protein content of rice grain and setback positively at the early stage and negatively at the middle and late stages. The correlation degree varied with the course of grain filling. 15Ab-Induced Insulin Resistance and the Effects of Insulin on the Cholesterol Synthesis Pathway and Ab Secretion in Neural Cells显示文摘Alzheimer's disease(AD) is characterized by amyloid-b(Ab) toxicity,tau pathology,insulin resistance,neuroinflammation,and dysregulation of cholesterol homeostasis,all of which play roles in neurodegeneration.Insulin has polytrophic effects on neurons and may be at the center of these pathophysiological changes.In this study,we investigated possible relationships among insulin signaling and cholesterol biosynthesis,along with the effects of Ab42 on these pathways in vitro.We found that neuroblastoma 2a(N2a) cells transfected with the human gene encoding amyloid-b protein precursor(Ab PP)(N2aAb PP) produced Ab and exhibited insulin resistance by reduced p-Akt and a suppressed cholesterol-synthesis pathway following insulin treatment,and by increased phosphorylation of insulin receptor subunit-1 at serine 612(p-IRS-S612) as compared to parental N2 a cells.Treatment of human neuroblastoma SH-SY5 Y cells with Ab42 also increased p-IRS-S612,suggesting that Ab42 is responsible for insulin resistance.The insulin resistance was alleviated when N2a-Ab PP cells were treated with higher insulin concentrations.Insulin increased Ab release from N2 aAb PP cells,by which it may promote Ab clearance.Insulin increased cholesterol-synthesis gene expression in SHSY5 Y and N2 a cells,including 24-dehydrocholesterol reductase(DHCR24) and 3-hydroxy-3-methyl-glutaryl-Co A reductase(HMGCR) through sterol-regulatory element-binding protein-2(SREBP2).While Ab42-treated SH-SY5 Y cells exhibited increased HMGCR expression and c-Jun phosphorylation as pro-inflammatory responses,they also showed down-regulation of neuro-protective/antiinflammatory DHCR24.These results suggest that Ab42 may cause insulin resistance,activate JNK for c-Jun phosphorylation,and lead to dysregulation of cholesterol homeostasis,and that enhancing insulin signaling may relieve the insulin-resistant phenotype and the dysregulated cholesterol-synthesis pathway to promote Ab release for clearance from neural cells.Dema Najem Michelle Bamji-Mirza Ze Yang Wandong Zhang 2016Neuroscience Bulletin2016,32,3:6
16Efficient and stable planar all-inorganic perovskite solar cells based on high-quality CsPbBr3 films with controllable morphology显示文摘All-inorganic cesium lead bromide(CsPbBr3)perovskite is attracting growing interest as functional materials in photovoltaics and other optoelectronic devices due to its superb stability.However,the fabrication of high-quality CsPbBr3 films still remains a big challenge by solution-process because of the low solubility of the cesium precursor in common solvents.Herein,we report a facile solution-processed approach to prepare high-quality CsPbBr3 perovskite films via a two-step spin-coating method,in which the Cs Br methanol/H2 O mixed solvent solution is spin-coated onto the lead bromide films,followed by an isopropanol-assisted post-treatment to regulate the crystallization process and to control the film morphology.In this fashion,dense and uniform CsPbBr3 films are obtained consisting of large crystalline domains with sizes up to microns and low defect density.The effectiveness of the resulting CsPbBr3 films is further examined in perovskite solar cells(PSCs)with a simplified planar architecture of fluorine–doped tin oxide/compact Ti O2/CsPbBr3/carbon,which deliver a maximum power conversion efficiency of 8.11%together with excellent thermal and humidity stability.The present work offers a simple and effective strategy in fabrication of high-quality CsPbBr3 films for efficient and stable PSCs as well as other optoelectronic devices.Xiaojing Wan Ze Yu Wenming Tian Fuzhi Huang Shengye Jin Xichuan Yang Yi-Bing Cheng Anders Hagfeldt Licheng Sun 2020Journal of Energy Chemistry2020,29,7:6

18The combination of PD-1 blockade with interferon-αhas a synergistic effect on hepatocellular carcinoma显示文摘Background The efficacy of immune checkpoint inhibitors(ICIs),such as programmed cell death protein-1(PD-1)or its ligand 1(PD-L1)antibody,in hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)is limited,and it is recommended that they be combined with other therapies.We evaluated the combination of pegylated interferon-α(Peg-IFNα)with PD-1 blockade in HCC mouse models.Methods We analyzed the effects of Peg-IFNαon tumor-infiltrating immune cells and PD-1 expression in the HCC immune microenvironment and examined the underlying mechanism of its unique effect on the PD-1 pathway.The in vivo efficacy of anti-PD-1 and Peg-IFNαwas evaluated in both subcutaneous and orthotopic mouse models of HCC.Results The combination of Peg-IFNαwith PD-1 blockade dramatically enhanced T-cell infiltration,improved the efficacy of PD-1 antibody and prolonged mouse survival compared with PD-1 antibody monotherapy.Mechanistically,Peg-IFNαcould recruit cytotoxic CD8+T cells to infiltrate the HCC microenvironment by inducing tumor cells to secrete the chemokine CCL4.Nevertheless,the HCC microenvironment quickly overcame the immune responses by upregulating PD-1 expression in CD8+T cells via the IFNα-IFNAR1-JAK1-STAT3 signaling pathway.The combination of PD-1 blockade with Peg-IFNαcould restore the cytotoxic capacity of CD8+T cells and exerted a significant synergistic effect on HCC.Conclusion These results indicate that in addition to initiating the antitumor immune response itself,Peg-IFNαcan also generate a microenvironment favoring PD-1 blockade.Thus,the combination of Peg-IFNαand PD-1 blockade can be a promising strategy for HCC.Ying Zhu Mo Chen Da Xu Tian-En Li Ze Zhang Jian-Hua Li Xiang-Yu Wang Xin Yang Lu Lu Hu-Liang Jia Qiong-Zhu Dong Lun-Xiu Qin 2022Cellular & Molecular Immunology2022,19,6:6
