1Outline of the Report on Cardiovascular Disease in China,2010显示文摘Major and profound changes have taken place in China over the past 30 years.Rapid socioeconomic progress has exerted a great impact on lifestyle,ranging from food,clothing,working and living conditions,and means of transportation to leisure activities and entertainment.At the same time,new health problems have emerged,and health services are facing new challenges.Presently,cardiovascular diseases (CVD) are among the top health problems of the Chinese people,and pose a serious challenge to all engaged in the prevention and control of these diseases.An epidemic of CVD in China is emerging as a result of lifestyle changes,urbanization and longevity.Both national policy decision-making and medical practice urgently need an authoritative report which comprehensively reflects the trends in the epidemic of CVD and current preventive measures.Since 2005,guided by the Bureau of Disease Prevention of the Ministry of Health of the People's Republic of China and the National Center for Cardiovascular Diseases of China,nationwide experts in the fields of epidemiology,clinical medicine and health economics in the realms of CVD,cerebrovascular disease,diabetes and chronic kidney disease,completed the Report on Cardiovascular Diseases in China every year.The report aims to provide a timely review of the trend of the epidemic and to assess the progress of prevention and control of CVD.In addition,as the report is authoritative,representative and readable,it will become an information platform in the CVD field and an important reference book for government,academic institutes,medical organizations and clinical physicians.This publication is expected to play a positive role in the prevention and control of CVD in China.We present an abstract from the Report on Cardiovascular Diseases in China (2010),including trends in CVD,morbidity and mortality of major CVDs,up-to-date assessment of risk factors,as well as health resources for CVD,and a profile of medical expenditure,with the aim of providing evidence for decision-making in CVD prevention and control programs in China,and of delivering the most authoritative information on CVD prevention and control for all citizens.HUSheng Shou KONG Ling Zhi GAO Run Lin ZHU Man Lu WANG Wen WANG Yong Jun WU Zhao Su CHEN Wei Wei LIU Ming Bo For the editorial board 2012Biomedical and Environmental Sciences2012,25,3:93

4Effects of different resuscitation fluid on severe acute pancreatitis显示文摘AIM: To compare effects of different resuscitation fluid on microcirculation, inflammation, intestinal barrier and clinical results in severe acute pancreatitis (SAP). METHODS: One hundred and twenty patients with SAP were enrolled at the Pancreatic Disease Institute between January 2007 and March 2010. The patients were randomly treated with normal saline (NS group), combination of normal saline and hydroxyethyl starch (HES) (SH group), combination of normal saline, hydroxyethyl starch and glutamine (SHG group) in resuscitation. The ratio of normal saline to HES in the SH and SHG groups was 3:1. The glutamine (20% glutamine dipeptide, 100 mL/d) was supplemented into the resuscitation liquid in the SHG group. Complications and outcomes including respiratory and abdominal infection, sepsis, abdominal hemorrhage, intra-abdominal hypertension, abdominal compartment syndrome (ACS), renal failure, acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), multiple organ dysfunction syndrome (MODS), operation intervention, length of intensive care unit stay, length of hospital stay, and mortality at 60 d were compared. Moreover, blood oxygen saturation (SpO 2 ), gastric intramucosal pH value (pHi), intra-abdominal pressure (IAP), inflammation cytokines, urine lactulose/mannitol (L/M) ratio, and serum endotoxin were investigated to evaluate the inflammatory reaction and gut barrier. RESULTS: Compared to the NS group, patients in the SH and SHG groups accessed the endpoint more quickly (3.9 ± 0.23 d and 4.1 ± 0.21 d vs 5.8 ± 0.25 d, P < 0.05) with less fluid volume (67.26 ± 28.53 mL/kg/d, 61.79 ± 27.61 mL/kg per day vs 85.23 ± 21.27 mL/kg per day, P < 0.05). Compared to the NS group, incidence of renal dysfunction, ARDS, MODS and ACS in the SH and SHG groups was obviously lower. Furthermore, incidence of respiratory and abdominal infection was significantly decreased in the SH and SHG groups, while no significant difference in sepsis was seen. Moreover, less operation time was needed in the SH and SHG group than the NS group, but the difference was not significant. The mortality did not differ significantly among these groups. Blood SpO 2 and gastric mucosal pHi in the SH and SHG groups increased more quickly than in the NS group, while IAP was significantly decreased in the SH and SHG group. Moreover, the serum tumor necrosis factor-α, interleukin-8 and C-reactive protein levels in the SH and SHG groups were obviously lower than in the NS group at each time point. 52018 Chinese Pediatric Cardiology Society(CPCS) guideline for diagnosis and treatment of syncope in children and adolescents显示文摘Syncope belongs to the transient loss of consciousness(TLOC), characterized by a rapid onset, short duration, and spontaneous complete recovery. It is common in children and adolescents, accounting for 1% to 2% of emergency department visits.Recurrent syncope can seriously affect children's physical and mental health, learning ability and quality of life and sometimes cardiac syncope even poses a risk of sudden death. The present guideline for the diagnosis and treatment of syncope in children and adolescents was developed for guiding a better clinical management of pediatric syncope. Based on the globally recent development and the evidence-based data in China, 2018 Chinese Pediatric Cardiology Society(CPCS) guideline for diagnosis and treatment of syncope in children and adolescents was jointly prepared by the Pediatric Cardiology Society, Chinese Pediatric Society, Chinese Medical Association(CMA)/Committee on Pediatric Syncope, Pediatricians Branch, Chinese Medical Doctor Association(CMDA)/Committee on Pediatric Cardiology, Chinese College of Cardiovascular Physicians, Chinese Medical Doctor Association(CMDA)/Pediatric Cardiology Society, Beijing Pediatric Society, Beijing Medical Association(BMA). 9Chinese deserts and sand fields in Last Glacial Maximum and Holocene Optimum显示文摘The Last Glacial Maximum (LGM, c. 26-16 ka) and the Holocene Optimum (HO, c. 9-5 ka) were characterized by cold-dry and warm-wet climates respectively in the recently geological Earth. How Chinese deserts and sand fields responded to these distinctive climatic changes is still not clear, however. To reconstruct environments of the deserts and sand fields during the LGM and HO is helpful to understand the forcing mechanisms of environment change in this arid region, and to test paleoclimatic modeling results. Through our long-term field and laboratory investigations, 400 optically stimulated luminescence (OSL) ages and more than 100 depositional records in the Chinese deserts and sand fields were obtained; on the basis of these data, we reconstruct spatial distributions of the deserts and sand fields during the LGM and HO. Our results show that the sand fields of Mu Us, Hunshandake, Horqin and Hulun Buir in northern and northeastern China had expanded 25%, 37%, 38% and 270%, respectively, during the LGM; the sand fields of Gonghe in the northeastern Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau had expanded 20%, and the deserts of Badain Jaran, Tengger in central northern China had expanded 39% and 29% separately during the LGM; the deserts of Taklimakan, Gurbantünggüt and Kumtag in northwestern China had expanded 10%-20% respectively, compared to their modern areas. On the other hand, all of the sand fields were nearly completely covered by vegetation during the HO; the deserts in northwestern and central northern China were reduced by around 5%-20% in area during this time. Lakes in this arid region were probably expanded during the HO but this conclusion needs more investigation. Compared with the geological distributions of deserts and sand fields, human activity has clearly changed (expanded) the area of active sand dunes at the present time. 10Apelin-13 inhibits apoptosis and excessive autophagy in cerebral ischemia/reperfusion injury显示文摘Apelin-13 is a novel endogenous ligand for an angiotensin-like orphan G-protein coupled receptor,and it may be neuroprotective against cerebral ischemia injury.However,the precise mechanisms of the effects of apelin-13 remain to be elucidated.To investigate the effects of apelin-13 on apoptosis and autophagy in models of cerebral ischemia/reperfusion injury,a rat model was established by middle cerebral artery occlusion.Apelin-13(50μg/kg)was injected into the right ventricle as a treatment.In addition,an SH-SY5Y cell model was established by oxygen-glucose deprivation/reperfusion,with cells first cultured in sugar-free medium with 95%N2 and 5%CO2 for 4 hours and then cultured in a normal environment with sugar-containing medium for 5 hours.This SH-SY5Y cell model was treated with 10-7 M apelin-13 for 5 hours.Results showed that apelin-13 protected against cerebral ischemia/reperfusion injury.Apelin-13 treatment alleviated neuronal apoptosis by increasing the ratio of Bcl-2/Bax and significantly decreasing cleaved caspase-3 expression.In addition,apelin-13 significantly inhibited excessive autophagy by regulating the expression of LC3B,p62,and Beclin1.Furthermore,the expression of Bcl-2 and the phosphatidylinositol-3-kinase(PI3K)/Akt/mammalian target of rapamycin(mTOR)pathway was markedly increased.Both LY294002(20μM)and rapamycin(500 nM),which are inhibitors of the PI3K/Akt/mTOR pathway,significantly attenuated the inhibition of autophagy and apoptosis caused by apelin-13.In conclusion,the findings of the present study suggest that Bcl-2 upregulation and mTOR signaling pathway activation lead to the inhibition of apoptosis and excessive autophagy.These effects are involved in apelin-13-induced neuroprotection against cerebral ischemia/reperfusion injury,both in vivo and in vitro.The study was approved by the Animal Ethical and Welfare Committee of Jining Medical University,China(approval No.2018-JS-001)in February 2018.Zi-Qi Shao Shan-Shan Dou Jun-Ge Zhu Hui-Qing Wang Chun-Mei Wang Bao-Hua Cheng Bo Bai 2021Neural Regeneration Research2021,16,6:35
11Volumetric-modulated arc therapy vs c-IMRT in esophageal cancer:A treatment planning comparison显示文摘AIM:To compare the volumetric-modulated arc therapy AT plans ith conventional sliding indo intensity-modulated radiotherapy c-I RT plans in esophageal cancer EC . METHODS:Tenty patients ith EC ere selected, including 5 cases located in the cervical, the upper, the middle and the lo er thorax, respectively. Five plans ere generated ith the eclipse planning system:three using c-IMRT with 5 fields (5F), 7 fields (7F) and 9 fields (9F), and two using VMAT with a single arc 1A and double arcs 2A . The treatment plans ere designed to deliver a dose of 60 Gy to the plan-ning target volume Tith the same constrains in a 2.0 Gy daily fraction, 5 d a eek. lans ere normalized to 95% of the T that received 100% of the prescribed dose. We examined the dose-volume histogram parameters of T and the organs at risk OAR such as lungs, spinal cord and heart. onitor units U and normal tissue complication probability NTC of OAR ere also reported. RESULTS:Both c-I RT and AT plans resulted in abundant dose coverage of T for EC of different locations. The dose conformity to T as improved as the number of field in c-IMRT or rotating arc in VMAT as increased. The doses to T and OAR in AT plans ere not statistically different in comparison ith c-I RT plans, ith the follo ing exceptions:in cervical and upper thoracic EC, the conformity index CI as higher in VMAT (1A 0.78 and 2A 0.8) than in c-IMRT (5F 0.62, 7F 0.66 and 9F 0.73) and homogeneity was slightly better in c-IMRT (7F 1.09 and 9F 1.07) than in VMAT (1A 1.1 and 2A 1.09). Lung V30 was lower in VMAT (1A 12.52 and 2A 12.29) than in c-IMRT (7F 14.35 and 9F 14.81). The humeral head doses were significantly increased in AT as against c-I RT. 13Engineering Broad-Spectrum Bacterial Blight Resistance by Simultaneously Disrupting Variable TALE-Binding Elements of Multiple Susceptibility Genes in Rice显示文摘Xanthomonas oryzae pv.oryzae(Xoo),the causal agent of bacterial blight of rice,employs the transcription activator-like effectors(TALEs)to induce the expression of the OsSWEET family of putative sugar transporter genes,which function in conferring disease susceptibility(S)in rice plants.To engineer broadspectrum bacterial blight resistance,we used CRISPR/Cas9-mediated gene editing to disrupt the TALEbinding elements(EBEs)of two S genes,OsSWEETH and OsSWEET14,in rice cv.Kitaake,which harbors the recessive resistance allele of Xa25/OsSWEET13.The engineered rice line MS14K exhibited broadspectrum resistance to most Xoo strains with a few exceptions,suggesting that the compatible strains may contain new TALEs.We identified two PthXo2-like TALEs,Tal5LN18 and Tal7PX061,as major virulence factors in the compatible Xoo strains LN18 and PX061,respectively,and found that Xoo encodes at least five types of PthXo2-like effectors.Given that PthXo2/PthXo2.1 target OsSlVEETf3 for transcriptional activation,the genomes of 3000 rice varieties were analyzed for EBE variationsin the OsSWEET13 promoter,and 10Xa25-like haplotypes were identified.We found that Tal5LN18 and Tal7PX〇6i bind slightly different EBE sequences in the OsSWEET13 promoter to activate its expression.CRISPR/Cas9 technology was then used to generate InDels in the EBE of the OsSWEET13 promoter in MS14K to creat a new germplasm with three edited OsSWEET EBEs and broad-spectrum resistance against all Xoo strains tested.Collectively,our findings illustrate how to disarm TALE-S co-evolved loci to generate broad-spectrum resistance through the loss of effector-triggered susceptibility in plants.Zhengyin Xu Xiameng Xu Qiang Gong Ziyang Li Ying Li Sai Wang Yangyang Yang Wenxiu Ma Longyu Liu Bo Zhu Lifang Zou Gongyou Chen 2019Molecular Plant2019,12,11:29

15Secondary organic carbon quantification and source apportionment of PM_(10) in Kaifeng, China显示文摘During 2005, the filter samples of ambient PM10 from five sites and the source samples of particulate matter were collected in Kaifeng, Henan Province of China. Nineteen elements, water-soluble ions, total carbon (TC) and organic carbon (OC) contained in samples were analyzed. Seven contributive source types were identified and their contributions to ambient PM10 were estimated by chemical mass balance (CMB) receptor model. Weak associations between the concentrations of organic carbon and element carbon (EC) were observed during the sampling periods, indicating that there was secondary organic aerosol pollution in the urban atmosphere. An indirect method of 'OC/EC minimum ratio' was applied to estimate the concentration of secondary organic carbon (SOC). The results showed that SOC contributed 26.2%, 32.4% and 18.0% of TC in spring, summer-fall and winter, respectively, and the annual average SOC concentration was 7.07 μg/m3, accounting for 5.73% of the total mass in ambient PM10. 17HIF-1α induces VE-cadherin expression and modulates vasculogenic mimicry in esophageal carcinoma cells显示文摘AIM:To investigate whether hypoxia inducible factor(HIF)-1αmodulates vasculogenic mimicry(VM)by upregulating VE-cadherin expression in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma(ESCC).METHODS:Esophageal squamous cancer cell lines Eca109 and TE13 were transfected with plasmids harboring small interfering RNAs targeting HIF-1αor VEcadherin.The proliferation and invasion of esophageal carcinoma cells were detected by MTT and Transwell migration assays.The formation of tubular networks of cells was analyzed by 3D culture in vitro.BALB/c nude mice were used to observe xenograft tumor formation.The relationship between the expression of HIF-1αand VE-cadherin,ephrin A2(Eph A2)and laminin5γ2(LN5γ2)was measured by Western blot and real-time polymerase chain reaction.RESULTS:Knockdown of HIF-1αinhibited cell proliferation(32.3%±6.1%for Eca109 cells and 38.6%±6.8%for TE13 cells,P<0.05).Both Eca109 and TE13cells formed typical tubular networks.The number of tubular networks markedly decreased when HIF-1αor VE-cadherin was knocked down.Expression of VEcadherin,Eph A2 and LN5γ2 was dramatically inhibited,but the expression of matrix metalloproteinase 2 had no obvious change in HIF-1α-silenced cells.Knockdown of VE-cadherin significantly decreased expression of both Eph A2 and LN5γ2(P<0.05),while HIF-1αexpression was unchanged.The time for xenograft tumor formation was 6±1.2 d for Eca109 cells and Eca109cells transfected with HIF-1αNeo control short hairpin RNA(sh RNA)vector,and 8.4±2.1 d for Eca109 cells transfected with an sh RNA against HIF-1α.Knockdown of HIF-1αinhibited vasculogenic mimicry(VM)and tumorigenicity in vivo.CONCLUSION:HIF-1αmay modulate VM in ESCC by regulating VE-cadherin expression,which affects VM formation through Eph A2 and LN5γ2.Na-Na Tang Hong Zhu Hong-Jie Zhang Wei-Feng Zhang Hai-Lin Jin Lu Wang Pin Wang Gui-Jun He Bo Hao Rui-Hua Shi 2014World Journal of Gastroenterology2014,20,47:25

19Non-Point-Source Nitrogen and Phosphorus Loadings from a Small Watershed in the Three Gorges Reservoir Area显示文摘Non-point-source pollution has become a major threat to the water quality of the Three Gorges Reservoir(TGR);however,nutrient loadings from terrestrial sources are unclear due to a lack of in situ monitoring.A representative small watershed in the central part of the TGR area was selected to monitor the loss of nitrogen(N) and phosphorous(P) continuously along with the runoff from 2007 through 2009 to understand the exact sources and loadings.Results show that the non-point-source nitrogen and phosphorus comes mainly from the storm runoff from residential areas,citrus orchards and sloping croplands,which contributes up to 76% of the loadings in this watershed.Thus,a crucial measure for controlling non-point-source pollution is to intercept storm runoff from the three sources.Paddy fields provide a sink for non-point-source N and P by intercepting the runoff and sediment along with their different forms of nitrogen and phosphorus.The N and P removal efficiency by paddy fields from residential areas is within the range of 56% to 98%.Paddy fields are an important land-use option for reducing the non-point-source loading of N and P in the TGR area.ZHU BO WANG Zhenhua WANG Tao DONG Zhixin 2012Journal of Mountain Science2012,9,1:24
20Laparoscopic low anterior resection for rectal carcinoma:Complications and management in 132 consecutive patients显示文摘AIM:To analyze the clinical manifestations and risk fac-tors of complications in laparoscopic low anterior resection(LAR)for rectal cancer patients.METHODS:A series of 132 consecutive patients who received laparoscopic LAR for rectal cancer in our center were included.The etiology,diagnosis,treatment and prevention of rectal cancer were studied among the patients with surgery-related complications using both univariate and multivariate regression analysis.RESULTS:No conversion to open surgery was observed and 5 cases converted to hand-assisted laparoscopic operation.The overall morbidity rate was 20.5%.Complications occurred during the operation in 7 patients(5.3%),within 30 postoperative days in 24 patients(18.2%),and within 3 mo in 2 patients(1.5%).The most significant complications were anastomotic leak-age(9.1%)and anastomotic hemorrhage(5.3%).Sizeand location of tumor,pathological staging and preoperative nutrition were significant factors associated with LAR complications,while gender,age and pathological type showed no relevance.Binary logistics regression showed that the size and location of tumor,and pathological staging were independent factors of laparoscopic LAR.All the complications were treated during their onset of clinical manifestations by interventional or conservative therapy.CONCLUSION:Anastomotic leakage is a major com-plication in laparoscopic LAR.The complications may be associated with tumor size and site,and pathological stage.Interventional therapies are of value in the management of laparoscopic LAR complications.Qian-Lin Zhu,Bo Feng,Ai-Guo Lu,Ming-Liang Wang,Wei-Guo Hu,Jian-Wen Li,Zhi-Hai Mao,Min-Hua Zheng,Department of General Surgery,Shanghai Ruijin Hospital,Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine,Shanghai 200025,China Shanghai Minimally Invasive Surgery Center,Shanghai 200025,China 2010World Journal of Gastroenterology2010,16,36:23
