| 2 | Controlled growth of silver nanoparticles in a hydrothermal process显示文摘A two-step synthesis was used to control the shape of silver nanoparticles. First, a few spherical silver nanoparticles, ~10nm in size, were prepared via reduction of Ag+ ions in aqueous Ag(NH3)2NO3 by poly(N-vinyl-2-pyrrolidone) (PVP). Then, in a subsequent hydrothermal treatment, the remaining Ag+ ions were reduced by PVP into polyhedral nanoparticles, or larger spherical nanoparticles formed from the small spherical seed silver nanoparticles in the first step. The morphology and size of the resultant particles depend on the hydrothermal temperature, PVP/Ag molar ratio and concentration of Ag+ ions. | 5 | Preparation of α-Fe_2O_3 Nanodisks by Blocking the Growth of (001) Plane显示文摘Based on the difference of hydroxy group configuration on different planes of α-Fe2O3 nanoparticles, using the special adsorption and coordination of phosphate on the (001) plane of α-Fe2O3, well-crystallized and well dispersed α-Fe2O3 nanodisks with diameter of 150–200 nm and thickness of 40–80 nm were synthesized via a hydrothermal method. The magnetic properties of synthesized nanodisks were investigated. It was found that the nanodisks possessed a saturation magnetization (Ms) of 0.38 emu/g, a remanent magnetization (Mr) of 0.031 emu/g and a coercivity of 452.91 Oe at room temperature. The as-synthesized material was characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy dispersive X-ray (EDX), UV-vis diffusion reflection (UV-vis) and Raman spectrometry. Based on these characterizations, the synthesis mechanism was explained in terms of combined heterogeneous nucleation and solid state transformation reaction. | 13 | USP21 deubiquitylates Nanog to regulate protein stability and stem cell pluripotency显示文摘The homeobox transcription factor Nanog has a vital role in maintaining pluripotency and self-renewal of embryonic stem cells(ESCs).Stabilization of Nanog proteins is essential for ESCs.The ubiquitin–proteasome pathway mediated by E3 ubiquitin ligases and deubiquitylases is one of the key ways to regulate protein levels and functions.Although ubiquitylation of Nanog catalyzed by the ligase FBXW8 has been demonstrated,the deubiquitylase that maintains the protein levels of Nanog in ESCs yet to be defined.In this study,we identify the ubiquitin-specific peptidase 21(USP21)as a deubiquitylase for Nanog,but not for Oct4 or Sox2.USP21 interacts with Nanog protein in ESCs in vivo and in vitro.The C-terminal USP domain of USP21 and the C-domain of Nanog are responsible for this interaction.USP21 deubiquitylates the K48-type linkage of the ubiquitin chain of Nanog,stabilizing Nanog.USP21-mediated Nanog stabilization is enhanced in mouse ESCs and this stabilization is required to maintain the pluripotential state of the ESCs.Depletion of USP21 in mouse ESCs leads to Nanog degradation and ESC differentiation.Overall,our results demonstrate that USP21 maintains the stemness of mouse ESCs through deubiquitylating and stabilizing Nanog. | Xingyu Liu Yuying Yao Huiguo Ding Chuanchun Han Yuhan Chen Yuan Zhang Chanjuan Wang Xin Zhang Yiling Zhang Yun Zhai Ping Wang Wenyi Wei Jing Zhang Lingqiang Zhang | 2016 | Signal Transduction and Targeted Therapy2016,1,1: | 1 |
| 14 | Sustained growth of the largest uninhabited alluvial island in the Changjiang Estuary under the drastic reduction of river discharged sediment显示文摘The evolution of the Changjiang Delta is obviously affected by current rapidly rising sea level and drastically declining river discharge,and it is also vital for the sustainable development of Shanghai and the Changjiang River Economic Belt,which represent China’s economic development leader and major national strategic area,respectively.In this paper,the growth pattern of Jiuduansha Island,the largest uninhabited alluvial island in the Changjiang Estuary,is studied in terms of the change in elevation,position and area over the past 50 years through using satellite-derived instantaneous shoreline positions and high/low tide exposure areas based on 497 satellite images from 1974 to 2020;and the influencing factors and future development patterns are further discussed by comparison with other alluvial islands or sandbars in the estuary.The results show that Jiuduansha Island has maintained a rapid or even accelerated area growth rate,although the sediment discharge of the Changjiang River has sharply decreased in recent decades.This sustained growth is mainly attributed to the existence of the estuarine turbidity maximum zone,coarsening fluvial sediment,onshore sediment replenishment by tide,cone-like geomorphology of Jiuduansha Island,and siltation promotion effect of vegetation.The growth rate of the low tide exposure area of Jiuduansha Island increased from 1.9 km^(2)a^(−1) in 1974–1990 to 3.0 km^(2)a^(−1) in 1990–2020,and the growth rate of the high tide exposure area reached as high as 3.7 km^(2)a^(−1) in 1994–2020.The implementation of the Deep-Water Channel Project has significantly affected the evolution of Jiuduansha Island,including shifting the heads of Shangsha and Zhongxiasha from severe retreat to rapid accretion,and promoting tidal flat progradation seaward of the Jiangyanansha and Zhongxiasha,but restricting the growth of the low tide exposure area of Jiuduansha Island. | Xiaodong ZHANG Rui XIE Daidu FAN Zuosheng YANG Hongmin WANG Chuang WU Yuhan YAO | 2021 | Science China Earth Sciences2021,64,10: | 0 |
| 15 | The effect of iron on the preservation of organic carbon in marine sediments and its implications for carbon sequestration显示文摘Marine sediments are the most significant reservoir of organic carbon(OC)in Earth′s surface system.Iron,a crucial component of the marine biogeochemical cycle,has a considerable impact on marine ecology and carbon cycling.Understanding the effect of iron on the preservation of OC in marine sediments is essential for comprehending biogeochemical processes of carbon and climate change.This review summarizes the methods for characterizing the content and structure of iron-bound OC and explores the influencing mechanism of iron on OC preservation in marine sediments from two aspects:the selective preservation of OC by reactive iron minerals(iron oxides and iron sulfides)and iron redox processes.The selective preservation of sedimentary OC is influenced by different types of reactive iron minerals,OC reactivity,and functional groups.The iron redox process has dual effects on the preservation and degradation of OC.By considering sedimentary records of iron-bound OC across diverse marine environments,the role of iron in long-term preservation of OC and its significance for carbon sequestration are illustrated.Future research should focus on identifying effective methods for extracting reactive iron,the effect of diverse functional groups and marine sedimentary environments on the selective preservation of OC,and the mediation of microorganisms.Such work will help elucidate the influencing mechanisms of iron on the long-term burial and preservation of OC and explore its potential application in marine carbon sequestration to maximize its role in achieving carbon neutrality. | Limin HU Yuhan JI Bin ZHAO Xiting LIU Jiazong DU Yantao LIANG Peng YAO | 2023 | Science China Earth Sciences2023,66,9: | 0 |
| 16 | Late Neoarchean crustal growth under paired continental arc-back arc system in the North China Craton显示文摘The late Archean(~3.0-2.5 Ga)was a key period of continental growth globally,which is widely considered to reflect the onset of vigorous plate tectonic activity,although related continental growth modes remain contentious.Here we investigate a suite of late Neoarchean metavolcanic rocks from the southwest Qixia area of the Jiaobei terrane in the North China Craton.The rocks in this suite include amphibolites,clinopyroxene amphibolites,and hornblende plagioclase gneisses.We present zircon U-Pb isotopic data which indicate that the protoliths of these rocks formed during~2549-2511 Ma.The(clinopyroxene)amphibolites correspond to meta-basaltic rocks,with some containing high modal content of titanite.These rocks show moderate to high FeO_(T)(8.96-13.62 wt.%)and TiO_(2)(0.59-1.59 wt.%),flat to less fractionated REE patterns,and mildly negative Th,Nb,and Ta anomalies,resembling those of Fe-tholeiites.In addition,they display positive zirconε_(Hf)(t)values(+2.6 to+8.7),and are devoid of crustal contamination or fractional crystallization.Combined with the low Nb/Yb(mostly<1.60)and(Hf/Sm)_N(mostly<0.95),low to moderate Th/Yb(0.08-0.54),and low V/Sc(5.53-9.19)ratios,these basaltic rocks are interpreted to have been derived from a relatively reduced and depleted mantle source that was mildly metasomatized by hydrous fluids.The hornblende plagioclase gneisses are meta-andesitic rocks,and occur interlayered with the basaltic rocks.They are transitional between tholeiitic and calc-alkaline rock series,and show fractionated REE patterns with evidently negative Th,Nb,and Ta anomalies.The depleted zirconε_(Hf)(t)values(+2.4 to+8.4)and quantitative chemical modeling suggest that the andesitic rocks were most likely generated by injection and mixing of juvenile felsic magmas with the tholeiitic basaltic magmas.In general,the chemical features and genesis of late Neoarchean meta-basaltic rocks in our study area resemble those of Mariana back-arc basin basalts.Combined with regional geological data,it is proposed that the Jiaobei terrane witnessed late Neoarchean crustal growth under a paired continental arc-back arc setting.On a regional context,we propose two distinct geodynamic mode of late Neoarchean continental growth across North China Craton(particularly the Eastern Block),i.e.,(1)arc-continent accretion along northwestern part of the Eastern Block;and(2)paired continental arc-back arc system surrounding the~3.8-2.7 Ga continental nuclei to the southeast. | Xin He Wei Wang M.Santosh Jiachen Yao Kangting Gao Yuhan Zhang Denggang Lu Lishuang Guo | 2021 | Geoscience Frontiers2021,12,3: | 0 |
