| 1 | Enhancement and selective production of avermectin B by recombinants of Streptomyces avermitilis via intraspecific protoplast fusion显示文摘Among eight components of avermectin, B1 fractions have the most effective antiparasitic activities and the lowest level of toxic side-effects and are used widely in veterinary and agricultural fields. In-traspecific protoplast fusion between two strains of Streptomyces avermitilis, one an avermectin high producer (strain 76-05) and the other a genetically engineered strain containing the mutations aveDˉ and olmAˉ (strain 73-12) was performed for enhancement and selective production of avermectin B in the absence of oligomycin. Two recombinant strains (F23 and F29) were isolated and characterized with regards to the parental merits. F23 and F29 produced only the four avermectin B components with high yield and produced no oligomycin. The avermectin production of F23 and F29 was about 84.20% and 103.45% of the parental strain 76-05, respectively, and increased about 2.66-fold and 3.50-fold, re-spectively, compared to that of parental strain 73-12. F23 and F29 were genetically stable prototrophic recombinants and F29 was quite tolerant of fermentation conditions compared to avermectin high producer parental strain 76-05. The ability to produce avermectin B with high yield without the produc-tion of other avermectin components and oligomycin will make F23 and F29 useful strains for aver-mectin production. | 4 | Generation of multi-channel chaotic signals with time delay signature concealment and ultrafast photonic decision making based on a globally-coupled semiconductor laser network显示文摘We propose and demonstrate experimentally and numerically a network of three globally coupled semiconductor lasers(SLs)that generate triple-channel chaotic signals with time delayed signature(TDS)concealment.The effects of the coupling strength and bias current on the concealment of the TDS are investigated.The generated chaotic signals are further applied to reinforcement learning,and a parallel scheme is proposed to solve the multiarmed bandit(MAB)problem.The influences of mutual correlation between signals from different channels,the sampling interval of signals,and the TDS concealment on the performance of decision making are analyzed.Comparisons between the proposed scheme and two existing schemes show that,with a simplified algorithm,the proposed scheme can perform as well as the previous schemes or even better.Moreover,we also consider the robustness of decision making performance against a dynamically changing environment and verify the scalability for MAB problems with different sizes.This proposed globally coupled SL network for a multi-channel chaotic source is simple in structure and easy to implement.The attempt to solve the MAB problem in parallel can provide potential values in the realm of the application of ultrafast photonics intelligence. | Yanan Han Shuiying Xiang Yang Wang Yuanting Ma Bo Wang Aijun Wen Yue Hao | 2020 | Photonics Research2020,8,11: | 6 |
| 5 | AUTHENTICATED SYMMETRIC-KEY ESTABLISHMENT FOR MEDICAL BODY SENSOR NETWORKS显示文摘This study concerns security issues of the emerging Wireless Body Sensor Network (WBSN) formed by biomedical sensors worn on or implanted in the human body for mobile healthcare appli-cations. A novel authenticated symmetric-key establishment scheme is proposed for WBSN,which fully exploits the physiological features obtained by network entities via the body channel available in WBSN but not other wireless networks. The self-defined Intrinsic Shared Secret (ISS) is used to replace the pre-deployment of secrets among network entities,which thus eliminates centralized services or au-thorities essential in existing protocols,and resolves the key transport problem in the pure symmet-ric-key cryptosystem for WBSN as well. The security properties of the proposed scheme are demon-strated in terms of its attack complexity and the types of attacks it can resist. Besides,the scheme can be implemented under a light-weight way in WBSN systems. | 7 | Multi-functional polyethersulfone nanofibrous membranes with ultra-high adsorption capacity and ultra-fast removal rates for dyes and bacteria显示文摘The adsorption technology has been widely applied in water remediation for contamination removal of dyes and bacteria,by virtue of the advantages of adsorption technology including high efficiency,energy conservation and ease of operation.Simultaneous removal of dyes and bacteria has been realized by some reported materials,but to achieve satisfactory adsorption amounts and rates remain an unmet goal for decades.Herein,a poly(methacrylatoethyl trimethyl ammonium chloride-co-methyl methacrylate)copolymer was synthesized,and then blended with polyethersulfone for the fabrication of nanofibrous membranes via electrospinning for the use of fast and massive removal of dyes and bacteria.Owing to the introduction of abundant quaternary ammonium groups,the maximum adsorption amount for methyl orange was up to 909.8 mg g^(-1).In addition,the modified nanofibrous membranes showed good recyclability,broad applications in severe environments,selective adsorption ability,and excellent dynamic removal performance.Especially,thanks to the abundant functional groups,the membranes showed fast adsorption ability for bacteria through electrostatic interaction.It should be noted that the clearance ratio for Staphylococcus aureus or Escherichia coli by 6 min of static adsorption could reach 93%or 90%for each.Additionally,dynamic removal ratio via filtration with the nanofibrous membranes could reach 99.7%for Staphylococcus aureus or 98.7%for Escherichia coli in 90 s.Therefore,the proposed approach towards the quaternary ammonium modified polyethersulfone nanofibrous membranes creates a new route for ultra-high adsorption capacity and ultra-fast removal rates for dyes and bacteria in water remediation. | Jianxu Bao Hang Li Yuanting Xu Shengqiu Chen Zhoujun Wang Chunji Jiang Huilin Li Zhiwei Wei Shudong Sun Weifeng Zhao Changsheng Zhao | 2021 | Journal of Materials Science & Technology2021,,19: | 4 |

| 9 | The Impact of Phenotypic Characteristics on Thermoregulation in a Cold-Climate Agamid lizard,Phrynocephalus guinanensis显示文摘Physiological and metabolic processes of ectotherms are markedly influenced by ambient temperature. Previous studies have shown that the abdominal black-speckled area becomes larger with increased elevation in plateau Phrynocephalus, however, no studies have verified the hypothesis that this variation is correlated with the lizard's thermoregulation. In this study, infrared thermal imaging technology was first used to study the skin temperature variation of torsos, heads, limbs and tails of a cold-climate agamid lizard, Phrynocephalus guinanensis. The heating rates of the central abdominal black-speckled skin area and peripheral non-black-speckled skin area under solar radiation were compared. Our results showed that the heating rates of limbs and tails were relatively faster than the torsos, as heating time was extended, rates gradually slowed before stabilizing under solar radiation. Under the environment without solar radiation, the cooling rates of limbs and tails were also relatively faster than the torsos of lizards, the rates slowed down and finally became stable as the cooling time was extended. We also found that the heating rate of the abdominal black-speckled skin area was faster than the nearby non-black-speckled skin area. | 10 | A Low-Power Low-Cost 780MHz CMOS FSK Receiver for Short-Range Wireless Communication显示文摘This paper presents a low-power low-cost780 MHz CMOS Frequency shift keying(FSK) receiver for short-range wireless communication. A current-reused Low power amplifier(LNA) and a single-balance passive mixer are employed to cut down the current consumption of the RF frontend in receiver. A 3rd-order active-RC complex filter with reconfigurable bandwidth is implemented and a novel automatic tuning circuit is used in the filter to eliminate the negative effect of the Process, voltage, temperature(PVT) variations. A novel replica-circuit master-slave automatic tuning circuit and a discrete-time differentiator are employed in demodulator to keep the demodulation performances from the PVT variations and the frequency offset of Intermediate frequency(IF). The receiver is fabricated in 0.18μm CMOS and occupies a chip area of about 0.97mm2. | 11 | Recombinant expression of different mutant K-ras gene in pancreatic cancer Bxpc-3 cells and its effects on chemotherapy sensitivity显示文摘K-ras is a member of ras gene family which is involved in cell survival,proliferation and differentiation.When a mutation occurs in ras gene,the activation of Ras proteins may be prolonged to induce oncogenesis.However,the relationship between K-ras mutation and clinical outcomes in pancreatic cancer patients treated with chemotherapy agents is still under debate.In this study,we constructed five pAcGFP1-C3 plasmids for different types of K-ras gene(WT,G12V,G12R,G12D,and G13D)and stably transfected human pancreatic cancer Bxpc-3 cells with these genes.The wild type and mutant clones showed a comparable growth and expression of K-Ras-GFP fusion protein.The expression of some K-ras mutations resulted in a reduced sensitivity to gefitinib,5-FU,docetaxel and gemcitabine,while showed no effects on erlotinib or cisplatin.Moreover,compared with the wild type clone,K-Ras downstream signals(phospho-Akt and/or phospho-Erk)were increased in K-ras mutant clones.Interestingly,different types of K-ras mutation had non-identical K-Ras downstream signal activities and drug responses.Our results are the first to reveal the relationship between different K-ras mutation and drug sensitivities of these anti-cancer drugs in pancreatic cancer cells in vitro. | SHAO TengFei ZHENG YuanTing ZHAO Bei LI Tao CHENG KeGuang CAI WeiMin | 2014 | Science China(Life Sciences)2014,57,10: | 2 |
| 12 | Activation of the bitter taste sensor TRPM5 prevents high saltinduced cardiovascular dysfunction显示文摘High salt intake is a known risk factor of cardiovascular diseases. Our recent study demonstrated that long-term high salt intake impairs transient receptor potential channel M5(TRPM5)-mediated aversion to high salt concentrations, consequently promoting high salt intake and hypertension;however, it remains unknown whether TRPM5 activation ameliorates cardiovascular dysfunction. Herein we found that bitter melon extract(BME) and cucurbitacin E(CuE), a major compound in BME, lowered high salt-induced hypertension. Long-term BME intake significantly enhanced the aversion to high salt concentrations by upregulating TRPM5 expression and function, eventually decreasing excessive salt consumption in mice. Moreover, dietary BME ameliorated high salt-induced cardiovascular dysfunction and angiotensin II-induced hypertension in vivo. The mechanistic evidence demonstrated that dietary BME inhibited high salt-induced RhoA/Rho kinase pathway overactivation, leading to reduced phosphorylation levels of myosin light chain kinase and myosin phosphatase targeting subunit 1. Furthermore, CuE inhibited vasoconstriction by attenuating L-type Ca^(2+) channel-induced Ca^(2+) influx in vascular smooth muscle cells.
