1Zircon U-Pb geochronological framework of Qitianling granite batholith, middle part of Nanling Range, South China显示文摘The Qitianling granite batholith (QGB) is located in the southern Hunan Province, middle part of the Nanling Range, South China. Its total exposure area is about 520 km2. Based on our 25 single grain zircon U-Pb age data and 7 published data as well as the geological, petrological, and space distribution characteristics, we conclude that QGB is an Early Yanshanian (Jurassic) multi-staged composite pluton. Its formation process can be subdivided into three major stages. The first stage, emplaced at 163―160 Ma with a peak at about 161 Ma, is mainly composed of hornblende-biotite monzonitic granites and locally biotite granites, and distributed in the eastern, northern, and western peripheral parts of the pluton. The second stage, emplaced at 157―153 Ma with a peak at 157―156 Ma, is mainly composed of biotite granites and locally containing hornblende, and distributed in the middle and southeastern parts of the pluton. The third stage, emplaced at 150―146 Ma with a peak at about 149 Ma, is mainly composed of fine-grained (locally porphyritic) biotite granites, and distributed in the middle-southern part of the pluton. Each stage can be further disintegrated into several granite bodies. The first two intrusive stages comprise the major phase of QGB, and the third intrusive stage comprises the additional phase. Many second stage fine-grained granite bosses and dykes intruded into the first stage host granites with clear chilling margin-baking phenomena at their intrusive contacts. They were emplaced in the open fracture space of the earlier stage consolidated rocks. Their isotopic ages are mostly 2―6 Ma younger than their hosts. Conceivably, the time interval from magma emplacement, through cooling, crystallization, solidification, up to fracturing of the earlier stage granites cannot exceed 2―6 Ma. During the Middle-Late Jurassic in the Qitianling area and neighboring Nanling Range, the coeval granitic and basic-intermediate magmatic activities were widely developed. It indicates that the Early Yanshanian period was the culmination time of magmatic activities in this region. The Nanling Range was under a post-orogenic, intracontinental geotectonic environment with an obvious lithospheric extension and thinning. 2Morphology and contact mechanics influence adhesive characteristics of Dung Beetle's bristle and Gecko's setae显示文摘Geckos(Gekko gecko)use their hairy setae to adhere on various solid surfaces and dung beetles(Copris ochus Motschulsky)use their hairy bristles to anti-adhere in sticky environments.We study why two hairy systems express a conflict in functions by using SEM,histological approaches and functional experiments.Adhesion models and various parameters were collected and analyzed.Based on the morphological data and functional experimental results carried out by natural and denatured gecko setae and beetle bristles,we first demonstrated that the stiffness along the hair is 1000 to 30000 times that perpendicular to the hair.This stiffness difference is the key factor leading to the two hairy systems' functional differences.Slope of gecko setae reduces contact stiffness,increases contact points and real contact area that results in amazing adhesive abilities.On the other hand,stiff bristles in a beetle have higher contact stiffness,which reduces the real contact area and decreases the adhesion between two contact surfaces.Deformation of gecko setae destroys the hierarchical structure,increases the contact stiffness and results in a decrease of adhesion forces.Similarly,deformation of beetle bristles destroys the erect structure of the hair,interconnects the separated bristles and thus decreases the anti-adhesive functions.These observations inspire us in designing anti-adhesive and adhesive biomimeticDai Zhendong Sun Jiurong Yue David Guo Ce Cheng Hong Yu Min Ji Aihong 2007Progress in Natural Science:Materials International2007,17,9:8
3Fenitized Wall Rock Geochemistry of the First Carbonatite Dyke at Bayan Obo, Inner Mongolia, China显示文摘The first carbonatite dyke at Bayan Obo is well exposed on the surface for a length and width of approximately 60 m and 1.1–1.5 m, respectively. Along its strike, the fenitized H1(Qs) and H2(Cs) quartzite is replaced by Na-amphiboles, aegirines, and alkali-feldspars, intermittently stretching as far away as 800 m in length. Based on petrographical characteristics, the dyke's fenitized wall rocks are divisible into different zones:(1) outer,(2) middle, and(3) inner. The outer zone is 5–17 m from the NW margin of the dyke. The middle zone is located at 3.5–5 m from the NW margin of the dyke. The inner contact zone is located between direct contact with the dyke and 3.5 m from the dyke. In the outer zone, upon visual examination, no evidence of outcrop fenitization was found and the major elemental rock composition is nearly identical to the unaltered H1 and H2 lithologies. In the thin sections, however, small amounts of Na-amphibole and phlogopite are present. Despite relatively poor development throughout the 5 m of fenitization, the wall rocks have retained at least a small geochemical signature comparable to the original sedimentary protolith. The fenites occurring in the inner zone exhibit distinct variations, not only for the sharp contact at the outcrop scale, but also for variations in major, rare earth elements(REE), and trace elements and Sm-Nd isotope composition. The wall rocks within 3.5 m have undergone strong fenitization, inheriting the geochemical signature derived from the carbonatite dyke. Fenitization in the middle zone was not as strong, at least compared to the inner zone, but was stronger than the outer zone. Compared to some trace elements and REEs, the major elements are relatively immobile during fenitization. The Sm-Nd isotope data for the carbonatite dyke and the adjacent fenitized wall rocks, where the Sm and Nd originate solely from the dyke, plots as a six-point isochron with an age of 1308±56 Ma. This age is identical to that of ore-bearing dolomite carbonatite and the related ore-forming events, indicating that there may be a petrogenetic link between the two. 4Bone-targeted pH-responsive cerium nanoparticles for anabolic therapy in osteoporosis显示文摘Antiresorptive drugs are widely used for treatment of osteoporosis and cancer bone metastasis,which function mainly through an overall inhibition of osteoclast.However,not all osteoclasts are“bone eaters”;preosteoclasts(pOCs)play anabolic roles in bone formation and angiogenesis through coupling with osteoblasts and secreting platelet derived growth factor-BB(PDGF-BB).In this study,a bone-targeted pH-responsive nanomaterial was designed for selectively eliminating mature osteoclasts(mOCs)without affecting pOCs.Biocompatible cerium nano-system(CNS)was guided to the acidic extracellular microenvironment created by mOCs and gained oxidative enzymatic activity.Oxidative CNS decreased the viability of mOCs through accumulating intracellular reactive oxygen species and enhancing calcium oscillation.Non-acid secreting anabolic pOCs were thus preserved and kept producing PDGF-BB,which lead to mesenchymal stem cell osteogenesis and endothelial progenitor cell angiogenesis via PI3K-Akt activated focal adhesion kinase.In treating osteoporotic ovariectomized mice,CNS showed better protective effects compare with the current first line antiresorptive drug due to the better anabolic effects marked by higher level of bone formation and vascularization.We provided a novel anabolic therapeutic strategy in treating bone disorders with excessive bone resorption.Ce Dou Jianmei Li Jian He Fei Luo Tao Yu Qijie Dai Yueqi Chen Jianzhong Xu Xiaochao Yang Shiwu Dong 2021Bioactive Materials2021,6,12:3
5Extraterrestrial artificial photosynthetic materials for in-situ resource utilization显示文摘Aerospace milestones in human history,including returning to the moon and manned Martian missions,have been implemented in recent years.Space exploration has become one of the global common goals,and to ensure the survival and development of human beings in the extraterrestrial extreme environment has been becoming the basic ability and technology of manned space exploration.For the purpose of fulfilling the goal of extraterrestrial survival,researchers in Nanjing University and the China Academy of Space Technology proposed extraterrestrial artificial photosynthesis(EAP)technology.By simulating the natural photosynthesis of green plants on the Earth,EAP converts CO_(2)/H_(2)O into fuel and O_(2)in an in-situ,accelerated and controllable manner by using waste CO_(2)in the confined space of spacecraft,or abundant CO_(2)resources in extraterrestrial celestial environments,e.g.Mars.Thus,the material loading of manned spacecraft can be greatly reduced to support affordable and sustainable deep space exploration.In this paper,EAP technology is compared with existing methods of converting CO_(2)/H_(2)O into fuel and O_(2)in the aerospace field,especially the Sabatier method and Bosch reduction method.The research progress of possible EAP materials for in-situ utilization of extraterrestrial resources are also discussed in depth.Finally,this review lists the challenges that the EAP process may encounter,which need to be focused on for future implementation and application.We expect to deepen the understanding of artificial photosynthetic materials and technologies,and aim to strongly support the development of manned spaceflight.Liuqing Yang Ce Zhang Xiwen Yu Yingfang Yao Zhaosheng Li Congping Wu Wei Yao Zhigang Zou 2021National Science Review2021,8,8:3
6SRSF1 plays a critical role in invariant natural killer T cell development and function显示文摘Invariant natural killer T(iNKT)cells are highly conserved innate-like T lymphocytes that originate from CD4^(+)CD8^(+)double-positive(DP)thymocytes.Here,we report that serine/arginine splicing factor 1(SRSF1)intrinsically regulates iNKT cell development by directly targeting Myb and balancing the abundance of short and long isoforms.Conditional ablation of SRSF1 in DP cells led to a substantially diminished iNKT cell pool due to defects in proliferation,survival,and TCRαrearrangement.The transition from stage 0 to stage 1 of iNKT cells was substantially blocked,and the iNKT2 subset was notably diminished in SRSF1-deficient mice.SRSF1 deficiency resulted in aberrant expression of a series of regulators that are tightly correlated with iNKT cell development and iNKT2 differentiation,including Myb,PLZF,Gata3,ICOS,and CD5.In particular,we found that SRSF1 directly binds and regulates pre-mRNA alternative splicing of Myb and that the expression of the short isoform of Myb is substantially reduced in SRSF1-deficient DP and iNKT cells.Strikingly,ectopic expression of the Myb short isoform partially rectified the defects caused by ablation of SRSF1.Furthermore,we confirmed that the SRSF1-deficient mice exhibited resistance to acute liver injury uponα-GalCer and Con A induction.Our findings thus uncovered a previously unknown role of SRSF1 as an essential post-transcriptional regulator in iNKT cell development and functional differentiation,providing new clinical insights into iNKT-correlated disease.Jingjing Liu Menghao You Yingpeng Yao Ce Ji Zhao Wang Fang Wang Di Wang Zhihong Qi Guotao Yu Zhen Sun Wenhui Guo Juanjuan Liu Shumin Li Yipeng Jin Tianyan Zhao Hai-Hui Xue Yuanchao Xue Shuyang Yu 2021Cellular & Molecular Immunology2021,18,11:3
7Differences between physiological and pathological convulsive thresholds in patients with epilepsy显示文摘BACKGROUND: Physiological convulsive thresholds degrade when the brain is in some pathologic states; thus, a level of stimulus that cannot provoke a convulsion may evoke a seizure or epileptic seizure. OBJECTIVE: To investigate the changes that occur in the brain when the physiological convulsive threshold becomes pathological, and to determine what differences occur in pathological and physiological convulsive thresholds during the development of epilepsy. DESIGN: A randomized controlled animal experiment. SETTING: Research Institute of Epilepsy of Shanxi Medical University; Department of Neurology, The Third Hospital of Shanxi Medical University; Research Institute of Function of Shanxi Medical University. MATERIALS: Thirty-six female Wistar rats were selected for this study. The rats were obtained from the experimental animal center of Shanxi Medical University. All laboratory procedures complied with animal ethical standards. The animals were randomly divided into three groups: a strong current group, a weak current group and a control group, with 12 rats in each group. An automatic determinator of seizure threshold was made at Shanxi Medical University and Taiyuan University of Technology. Two bipolar stainless steel stimulating electrodes and an electrode connector (diameter 1.2 mm) were made at Taiyuan University of Technology. METHODS: This study was performed in the laboratory of Research Institute of the Epilepsy of Shanxi Medical University between December 2005 and August 2006. The threshold of localized seizures was measured by performing direct cortical stimulation in rats under anesthesia. After 1 week of post-operative recovery, electric stimulation was started with three different kinds of stimulation. Seizure activity was induced by a ramp-shaped single train of biphasic pulses (50 Hz, total pulse duration of 2 ms, increasing from 0 to 2 000 μA in 15 seconds). The threshold of localized seizures (TLS) has been defined as the minimum current intensity necessary to provoke convulsion of the forelimbs and/or facial muscles. Up to the TLS, if stimulation continued, the current intensity necessary to provoke the generalized seizures is called the threshold of generalized seizures (TGS). If stimulation is continued for about 2 seconds when the TGS is reached, rats still showed generalized clonic activity after stimulation ceased. When seizures stopped, a short period of immobility can be observed. The current intensity is called the threshold of prolonged seizures (TPS). The rats in the strong current group were stimulated up to the current level required to reach the TPS. In the course of stimulation, first, the TLS was recorded, then the TGS, and finally the TPS. The stimulation interval in one session was 10 minutes, repeated twice daily. The rats in the weak current group were only stimulated up to the current levels required to reach the TGS; first, the TLS was recorded and then the TGS was measured at the same time as the strong current group. Control animals were also equipped with a full electrode set and placed in the same conditions, but no stimulation took place, only electroencephalogram (EEG) recording at the same times as the experimental groups. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: ① Stimulation of the two experimental groups lasted for 11 weeks and then observation of their behavior and electroencephalogram recording continued for 4 weeks. The control group was also observed over a total of 15 weeks. ② Observing neuronal damage/loss in the hippocampus with a light microscope using a 250× visual field. RESULTS: All 36 Wistar rats were included in the final analysis. At the beginning of the experiment, the convulsive thresholds were all above 1 100 μA, although there were significant individual variations among rats of the same group. Those thresholds quickly declined during the initial 4 weeks of repetitive electrical stimulation. The convulsive thresholds approached a constant level in the 10th week after commencement of stimulation. There were no significant changes in thresholds when stimulations lasted longer; the convulsive thresholds and the variations in rats of the same group were significantly lower than at the beginning of the trial (P < 0.01). An interictal discharge was also recorded in the 3rd week in the strong current group, and in the 8th week in the weak current group; these discharges were concomitant with neuronal damage and loss in the hippocampus. There was no abnormality observed in the control group. CONCLUSION: These findings indicated that the convulsion threshold in the brain should be divided intotwo stages: a physiological convulsive threshold and a pathological convulsive threshold (epileptic threshold). The epileptic threshold is created by pathologically acquired factors, which give rise to brain damage. 8Composition and immuno-stimulatory properties of extracellular DNA from mouse gut flora显示文摘AIM To demonstrate that specific bacteria might release bacterial extracellular DNA(e DNA) to exert immunomodulatory functions in the mouse small intestine.METHODS Extracellular DNA was extracted using phosphate buffered saline with 0.5 mmol/L dithiothreitol combined with two phenol extractions. TOTO-1 iodide, a cell-impermeant and high-affinity nucleic acid stain, was used to confirm the existence of e DNA in the mucus layers of the small intestineand colon in healthy Male C57 BL/6 mice. Composition difference of e DNA and intracellular DNA(i DNA) of the small intestinal mucus was studied by Illumina sequencing and terminal restriction fragment length polymorphism(T-RFLP). Stimulation of cytokine production by e DNA was studied in RAW264.7 cells in vitro.RESULTS TOTO-1 iodide staining confirmed existence of e DNA in loose mucus layer of the mouse colon and thin surface mucus layer of the small intestine. Illumina sequencing analysis and T-RFLP revealed that the composition of the e DNA in the small intestinal mucus was significantly different from that of the i DNA of the small intestinal mucus bacteria. Illumina Miseq sequencing showed that the e DNA sequences came mainly from Gram-negative bacteria of Bacteroidales S24-7. By contrast, predominant bacteria of the small intestinal flora comprised Grampositive bacteria. Both e DNA and i DNA were added to native or lipopolysaccharide-stimulated Raw267.4 macrophages, respectively. The e DNA induced significantly lower tumor necrosis factor-α/interleukin-10(IL-10) and IL-6/IL-10 ratios than i DNA, suggesting the predominance for maintaining immune homeostasis of the gut.CONCLUSION Our results indicated that degraded bacterial genomic DNA was mainly released by Gram-negative bacteria, especially Bacteroidales-S24-7 and Stenotrophomonas genus in gut mucus of mice. 9Benzimidazolium Functionalized Polysulfone-based Anion Exchange Membranes with Improved Alkaline Stability显示文摘The stability of anion exchange membranes(AEMs) is an important feature of alkaline exchange membrane fuel cells(AEMFCs), which has been extensively studied. However it remains a real challenge due to the harsh working condition. Herein, we developed a novel type of polysulfone-based AEMs with three modified 1,2-dimethylbenzimidazoliums containing different substitutes at C4-and C7-position. The results showed that the introduction of the substitutes could obviously improve the dimensional and alkaline stabilities of the corresponding membranes. The swelling ratios of resultant AEMs were all lower than 10% after water immersion. The membrane with 4,7-dimethoxy-1,2-dimethylbenzimidazolium group exhibited the highest alkaline stability. Only 9.2% loss of hydroxide conductivity was observed after treating the membrane in 1 mol·L^(-1) KOH solution at 80 °C for 336 h. 10Pharmacokinetics and tissue distribution of intraperitoneal 5-fluorouracil with a novel carrier solution in rats显示文摘AIM: To compare the pharmacokinetics and tissue distribution of 5-fluorouracil administered intraperitoneally with two isotonic carrier solutions: HAES-steri (neotype 6% hydroxyethyl starch), a novel carrier solution with middle molecular weight and physiologic saline (0.9% sodium chloride solution), a traditional carrier solution for intraperitoneal chemotherapy, in rats. METHODS: A total of 60 Sprague Dawley rats were randomized into groups according to the carrier solution administered. Each group was further randomized according to the intraperitoneal dwell period (1, 3, 6, 12, 18 and 24 h). At the end of the procedure the rats were killed, the peritoneal fluid was withdrawn completely and quantitated. Drug concentrations in peritoneal fluid, plasma, and tissues were determined by high- performance liquid chromatography. RESULTS: The mean volumes remaining in the peritoneal cavity were significantly higher with HAES- steri than those with physiologic saline at 1, 6, 12, 18, and 24 h (P = 0.047, 0.009, 0.005, 0.005 and 0.005 respectively, the percentages of remaining peritoneal fluid volume were 89.9 ± 5.6 vs 83.4 ± 4.9, 79.9 ± 2.8 vs 56.2 ± 15.7, 46.8 ± 5.5 vs 24.7 ± 9.7, 23.0 ± 2.8 vs 0.0 ± 0.0 and 4.2 ± 1.7 vs 0.0 ± 0.0 respectively). Mean concentrations in peritoneal fluid were significantly higher with HAES-steri than those with physiologic saline at 3, 12 and 18 h (P = 0.009, 0.009 and 0.005 respectively, the concentrations were 139.2768 ± 28.2317 mg/L vs mg/L, 11.5427 ± 3.0976 mg/L vs 0.0000 ± 0.0000 mg/L and 4.7724 ± 1.0936 mg/L vs 0.0000 ± 0.0000 mg/L respectively). Mean plasma 5-fluorouracil concentrations in portal vein were significantly higher with HAES-steri at 3, 12, 18 and 24 h (P = 0.009, 0.034, 0.005 and 0.019 respectively, the concentrations were 3.3572 ± 0.8128 mg/L vs 0.8794 ± 0.2394 mg/L, 0.6203 ± 0.9935 mg/L vs 0.0112 ± 0.0250 mg/L, 0.3725 ± 0.3871 mg/L vs 0.0000 ± 0.0000 mg/L, and 0.2469 ± 0.1457 mg/L vs 0.0000 ± 0.0000 mg/L respectively), but significantly lower at 1 h (P = 0.009, the concentrations were 4.1957 ± 0.6952 mg/L vs 7.7406 ± 1.2377 mg/L). There were no significant differences in the plasma 5-fluorouracil in inferior caval vein at each time-point. 5-fluorouracil concentrations were significantly greater with HAES-steri at 18 h in gastric tissue (P = 0.016, the concentrations were 0.9486 ± 0.8173 mg/L vs 030392 ± 0.0316 mg/L), at 18 h in colon (P = 0.009, the concentrations were 0.1730 ± 0.0446 mg/L vs 0.0626 ± 0.0425 mg/L), at 3, 6, 12 and 24 h in liver (P = 0.009, 0.013, 0.034 and 0.013 respectively, the concentrations were 0.6472685 ± 0.5256 mg/L vs 0.1554 ± 0.1043mg/L, 0.8606826 ± 0.7155 mg/L vs 0.0014 ± 0.0029 mg/L, 0.0445 ± 0.0330 mg/L vs 0.0797 ± 0.1005 mg/L and 0.0863 ± 0.0399 mg/L vs 0.0034 ± 0.0075 mg/L respectively) and at 18 h in lung (P = 0.009, the concentrations were 0.0886 ± 0.0668 mg/L vs 0.0094 ± 0.0210 mg/L). There were no differences in 5-fluorouracil concentrations in renal tissue at each time-point. CONCLUSION: The use of intraperitoneal 5-fluoro- uracil with HAES-Steri carrier solution provides a pharmacokinetic advantage for a local-regional killing of residual tumor cells and improve the accumulated penetrability of 5-fluorouracil with decreased systemic toxicity. 11Optimal locating arrays for at most two faults显示文摘Locating arrays are of interest in generating software test suites to cover all t-way component interactions and locate interaction faults in component-based systems.Recently,Tang,Colbourn and Yin made an investigation into optimal locating arrays in the case where a single fault is to be located.They pointed out that when two or more faults were considered,matters would become rather complicated.To handle those cases generally seems challenging,but is well worth further research.In this paper,we establish a lower bound on the size of locating arrays with at most two faults,and then prove that optimal locating arrays meeting this bound can be equivalently characterized in terms of orthogonal arrays with prescribed properties.Using this characterization,we develop a number of constructions of optimal locating arrays.Two infinite series of optimal locating arrays are then obtained.SHI Ce TANG Yu YIN JianXing 2012Science China Mathematics2012,55,1:2

13High and ultra-stable energy storage from all-carbon sodium-ion capacitor with 3D framework carbon as cathode and carbon nanosheet as anode显示文摘Sodium-ion capacitors(SICs)are extremely promising due to the combined merits of high energy-power characteristics and considerable price advantage.However,it is still difficult to achieve high energypower outputs and cycle stability in a typical configuration of the metal-based battery-type anode and activated carbon capacitor-type cathode due to the kinetic mismatching.In this work,a carbon nanosheet(PSCS-600)with large interlayer spacing of 0.41 nm derived from the bio-waste pine cone shell was prepared.Besides,the covalent triazine framework derived carbon(OPDN-CTF-A)was obtained through ionothermal synthesis strategy,exhibiting beneficial hierarchical pores(0.5-6 nm)and high heteroatoms(5.6 at%N,6.6 at%O).On this basis,the all-carbon SICs were fabricated by the integration of PSCS-600 anode and OPDN-CTF-A cathode.The device delivered high energy density 111 Wh kg^(-1),high power output of 14,200 W kg^(-1) and ultra-stable cycling life(~90.7%capacitance retention after 10,000 cycles).This work provides new ideas in fabricating carbon-carbon architectural SICs with high energy storage for practical application.Fangyuan Hu Siyang Liu Shengming Li Cheng Liu Guipeng Yu Ce Song Wenlong Shao Tianpeng Zhang Xigao Jian 2021Journal of Energy Chemistry2021,30,4:2
