| 3 | Influence of Tip End-plate on Noise of Small Axial Fan显示文摘In this work, tip end-plate is used to improve the noise performance of small axial fans. Both numerical simulations and experimental methods were adopted to study the fluid flow and noise level of axial fans. Four modified models and the prototype are simulated. Influences of tip end-plate on static characteristics, internal flow field and noise of small axial fans are analyzed. The results show that on basis of the prototype, the model with the tip end-plate of 2 mm width and changed length achieved best noise performance. The overall sound pressure level of the model with the tip end-plate of 2 mm width and changed length is 2.4 dB less than that of the prototype at the monitoring point in specified far field. It is found that the mechanism of noise reduction is due to the decrease of vorticity variation on the surface of blades caused by the tip end-plate. Compared with the prototype, the static pressure of the model with the tip end-plate of 2 mm width and changed length at design flow rate decreases by 2 Pa and the efficiency decreases by 0.8%. | 5 | Long-term variation of storm surge-associated waves in the Bohai Sea显示文摘When investigating the long-term variation of wave characteristics as associated with storm surges in the Bohai Sea,the Simulating Waves Nearshore(SWAN)model and Advanced CIRCulation(ADCIRC)model were coupled to simulate 32 storm surges between 1985 and 2014.This simulation was validated by reproducing three actual wave processes,showing that the simulated significant wave height(SWH)and mean wave period agreed well with the actual measurements.In addition,the long-term variations in SWH,pattems in SWH extremes along the Bohai Sea coast,the 100-year retum period SWH extreme distribution,and waves conditional probability distribution were calculated and analyzed.We find that the trend of SWH extremes in most of the coastal stations was negative,among which the largest trend was-0.03 m/a in the western part of Liaodong Bay.From the 100-year return period of the SWH distribution calculated in the Gumbel method,we find that the SWH extremes associated with storm surges decreased gradually from the center of the Bohai Sea to the coast.In addition,the joint probability of wave and surge for the entire Bohai Sea in 100-year return period was determined by the Gumbel logistic method.We therefore,assuming a minimum surge of one meter across the entire Bohai Sea,obtained the spatial SWH distribution.The conclusions of this study are significant for offshore and coastal engineering design. | WANG Yanping LIU Yongling MAO Xinyan CHI Yutao JIANG Wensheng | 2019 | Journal of Oceanology and Limnology2019,37,6: | 2 |

| 7 | Single-phase Computational Fluid Dynamics Applicability for the Study of Three-dimensional Flow in 5×5 Rod Bundles with Spacer Grids显示文摘Spacer grids play an important role in pressurized water reactor(PWR) fuel assembly in that they have significant influence on the thermal-hydraulic characteristics of the reactor core.But so far,the numerical studies are performed without regarding dimple and spring of spacer grids,just considering mixing vane.Moreover,these studies use k-ε turbulence model without considering the suitability of the other turbulence models upon the different spacer grids flow.A study is carried out to understand the 3-D single-phase flow in AFA-2G 5×5 rod bundles with spacer grids based on numerical method.In order to investigate the suitability of different turbulence models,k-ε model and k-ω model,the influence of different parts of spacer grid on the fluid flow is also predicted.By using second-order upwind scheme,hybrid grids technique,and improved SIMPLEC algorithm,the Reynolds averaged mass conservation and momentum conservation equations are solved,and the pressure and velocity field of flow are obtained.The numerical simulation results are compared with experiment results and the agreement is satisfactory.The simulation results show the influences of the spring,dimple and mixing vane,and the different characteristics of the k-ε model and k-ω model.Comparing with the experiment results,the simulation results suggest that the k-ω model is suitable for the simulation of the rod bundle flow with spacer grids;the spring and dimple are the main causes of the pressure loss in the spacer grid channel.The friction coefficient of the channel with spring and dimple is 1.5 times the coefficient of the channel with the vane.These results are beneficial to enhance the simulation ability of spacer grids flow and optimization design ability of spaces grid. | TIAN Ruifeng MAO Xiaohui GAO Puzhen HUANG Yanping | 2012 | Chinese Journal of Mechanical Engineering2012,25,4: | 1 |

| 12 | Arabidopsis Profilin Isoforms,PRF1 and PRF2 Show Distinctive Binding Activities and Subcellular Distributions显示文摘Profilin is an actin-binding protein that shows complex effects on the dynamics of the actin cytoskeleton. There are five profilin isoforms in Arabidopsis thaliana L. However, it is still an open question whether these isoforms are functionally different. In the present study, two profilin isoforms from Arabidopsis, PRF1 and PRF2 were fused with green fluorescent protein (GFP) tag and expressed in Escherichia coli and A. thaliana in order to compare their biochemical properties in vitro and their cellular distributions in vivo. Biochemical analysis revealed that fusion proteins of GFP-PRF1 and GFP-PRF2 can bind to poly-L-proline and G-actin showing remarkable differences. GFP-PRF1 has much higher affinities for both poly-L-proline and G-actin compared with GFP-PRF2. Observations of living cells in stable transgenic A. thaliana lines revealed that 35S::GFP-PRF1 formed a filamentous network, while 35S::GFP-PRF2 formed polygonal meshes. Results from the treatment with latrunculin A and a subsequent recovery experiment indicated that filamentous alignment of GFP-PRF1 was likely associated with actin filaments. However, GFP-PRF2 localized to polygonal meshes resembling the endoplasmic reticulum. Our results provide evidence that Arabidopsis profilin isoforms PRF1 and PRF2 have different biochemical affinities for poly-L-proline and G-actin, and show distinctive localizations in living cells. | 16 | More endemic birds occur in regions with stable climate, more plant species and high altitudinal range in China显示文摘Background:Geographical distribution of endemic species and its multiple scale drivers are an important topic in biodiversity conservation,because these species are especially vulnerable to climate change and habitat degradation,and therefore have high conservation priority.Here,for the first time,we simultaneously linked glacial-interglacial climate change,contemporary climate,plant species richness and altitudinal range with endemic bird distribution in China.Methods:Ordinary least squares models and simultaneous autoregressive models were used to assess the associations between endemic bird richness,endemic bird ratio and each explanatory variable.Structural Equation Models were also performed to test the direct and indirect effects of these variables on endemic bird richness and endemic bird ratio.Results:Higher endemic bird richness and endemic bird ratio occurred in regions with stable glacial-interglacial temperature,i.e.,southwest China.Plant species richness and altitudinal range were also positively correlated with endemic bird richness and endemic bird ratio.Glacial-interglacial temperature change,contemporary precipitation,plant species richness and altitudinal range were all included in the best combination of variables for endemic bird richness.Importantly,glacial-interglacial temperature change had strong direct effects on both endemic bird richness and endemic bird ratio,while plant species richness only had a direct effect on endemic bird richness.Conclusions:Our results indicate that endemic birds in China concentrate in southwest regions where there are stable glacial-interglacial temperature,more plant species and larger altitudinal range.Notably,while stable climate has strong direct effects on both endemic bird richness and endemic bird ratio,plant species may affect endemic bird richness through its effect on overall bird species richness.Importantly,the recent anthropogenic activities have also significantly intensified in this region,which would pose huge challenge for biodiversity conservation in China. | Gang Feng Xiongwei Huang Lingfeng Mao Na Wang Xueting Yang Yanping Wang | 2020 | Avian Research2020,11,2: | 0 |
