1Blocking FSH inhibits hepatic cholesterol biosynthesis and reduces serum cholesterol显示文摘Menopause is associated with dyslipidemia and an increased risk of cardio-cerebrovascular disease.The classic view assumes that the underlying mechanism of dyslipidemia is attributed to an insufficiency of estrogen.In addition to a decrease in estrogen, circulating follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH)levels become elevated at menopause.In this study,we find that blocking FSH reduces serum cholesterol via inhibiting hepatic cholesterol biosynthesis.First,epidemiological results show that the serum FSH levels are positively correlated with the serum total cholesterol levels,even after adjustment by considering the effects of serum estrogen,in addition,the prevalence of hypercholesterolemia is significantly higher in peri-menopausal women than that in premenopausal women.Furthermore,we generated a mouse model of FSH elevation by intraperitoneally injecting exogenous FSH into ovariectomized (OVX)mice,in which a normal level of estrogen (E2)was maintained by exogenous supplementation. Consistently,the results indicate that FSH,independent of estrogen,increases the serum cholesterol level in this mouse model. 2Gravity and magnetic field and tectonic structure character in the southern Yellow Sea显示文摘The research of the geophysical survey in the cast of the southern Yellow Sea (SYS) (122°-125°E) in 1999 reveals that the SYS has a structure of three-uplifts and two-basins. The structure can be well concordant with the gravity and magnetic anomalies. In the basins, most of the gravity and magnetic anomalies are low and gentle. As well in the uplifts, the gravity anomalies are high positive ones,but the magnetic anomalies are plus and minus variant ones.Seismic data show that the mid-uplift is a Cenozoic one. The Paleozoic is under the Q+N strata, the thickness of which is less than 1 km, with no Palaeogene. The Wunansha uplift area and the Sunan uplift area have good continuity, which indicates that they belong to the same geological unit. The basin in the northern part of SYS, which developed in the late Cretaceous period, is a Cenozoic one mainly made up of Cenozoic sediment. On the contrary, the basin in the southern part is the seaward extension of Subei basin and is a medial Cenozoic sediment basin mainly made up of Cenozoic sediment. 3Passive-source ocean bottom seismograph(OBS) array experiment in South China Sea and data quality analyses显示文摘Long-term passive source ocean bottom seismograph(OBS) observatory is challenging due to various technical difficulties. In order to gain experience in this field, and to reveal the lithospheric structure beneath the extinct ridge in the central South China Sea(SCS), we carried out a passive source OBS array experiment, which includes 18 OBSs, in the deep portion of SCS. Here we present the instrumentation, the OBS deployment and recovery of this experiment, and more importantly, the data quality evaluated by a number of approaches. Through processing and inspecting waveforms from global, regional and local earthquakes, we find that most of recovered OBSs have good data quality with discernible main phases. The ambient noise analyses of OBS recordings show that their noise is higher than the global average, and the horizontal component is noisier than the vertical, indicating current impacts on horizontal components are more severe. In the period range of 5–10 s, there is a noise notch for the SCS OBSs, and noise levels of horizontal components are comparable to the vertical. This feature, which is not seen at OBS stations in open ocean, suggests the distant sources for double frequency microseism in this marginal sea are not significant. In addition, we successfully determined the orientations for 7 OBSs by investigating their Rayleigh wave polarizations; and we demonstrated the dispersion feature of Rayleigh waves through the frequency-time analysis. 4NF-κB and Its Regulation on the Immune System显示文摘NF-κB is a transcription factor of eukaryote, five members of whose family in mammals and three in drosophila. Transcription factors of the NF-κ family are activated in response to signals that lead to cell growth, differentiation, apoptosis and other events. NF-κB takes part in expression of numerous cytokines and adhesion molecules which are critical elements involved in the regulation of immune responses. In this review,we focus on our current understanding of NF-κB signal pathway and its role in the innate and adaptive immune responses in which these transcription factors have a key regulatory function. 6Design and test of a six-rotor unmanned aerial vehicle(UAV)electrostatic spraying system for crop protection显示文摘In recent years,multi-rotor unmanned aerial vehicle(UAV)crop protection operations have experienced tremendous growth.Compared with manual operations,they have advantages such as high operational efficiency,small pesticide dosage,and low pesticide hazards for humans.However,the tiny droplets produced during UAV spraying for crop protection are affected by the rotor air flow and will drift in all directions in an uncontrollable manner,severely affecting the pesticide deposition pattern and resulting in pesticide waste.To improve pesticide use efficiency during multi-rotor UAV spraying,an electrostatic spray system was designed based on electrostatic spray technology and a six-rotor UAV.The proper operation parameters for the UAV electrostatic spray were determined by test,which were spray altitude of 50 cm above the crop,spray pressure of 0.3 MPa and charging voltage of 9 kV.Field test was performed based on these parameters.The results showed that compared with non-electrostatic spray,the electrostatic spray improved by 13.6%in the average deposition density above the sampling device and 32.6%in the middle.The research can provide a reference for designing multi-rotor UAV electrostatic spray devices.Zhang Yanliang Lian Qi Zhang Wei 2017International Journal of Agricultural and Biological Engineering2017,10,6:8
7Assessment of structural stability in Bohai Sea area based on AHP-GDM model显示文摘The AHP-GDM model is used for the assessment of structural stability, with the Bohai Sea area as an example. In this model, the credit degree of each expert is calculated through the assessment matrix based on the similarity and diversity of vector. The comprehensive opinions of expert panel are quantitatively obtained by considering the effect of credit degree. According to the geological structural setting, the Bohai Sea is divided into twelve assessment zones of structural stability by non-uniform element method. The structural stability grade of each zone is obtained on the basis of the latest geophysical data, earthquake statistical data, and the information of fault activities, current stress field and crustal deformation. The results show that there are one relatively stable area, three relatively sub-stable areas, six relatively sub-unstable areas and two relatively unstable areas. The assessment results of non-uniform element method are very close with those of uniform grid method with size of 0.25° in longitude direction and 0.14° in latitude direction. However the workload of non-uniform element method is only 1/16 of the latter. 8Basic fibroblast growth factor attenuates the degeneration of injured spinal cord motor endplates显示文摘The distal end of the spinal cord and neuromuscular junction may develop secondary degeneration and damage following spinal cord injury because of the loss of neural connections. In this study, a rat model of spinal cord injury, established using a modified Allen's method, was injected with basic fibroblast growth factor solution via subarachnoid catheter. After injection, rats with spinal cord injury displayed higher scores on the Basso, Beattie and Bresnahan locomotor scale. Motor function was also well recovered and hematoxylin-eosin staining showed that spinal glial scar hyperplasia was not apparent. Additionally, anterior tibial muscle fibers slowly, but progressively, atrophied. Immunohistochemical staining showed that the absorbance values of calcitonin gene related peptide and acetylcholinesterase in anterior tibial muscle and spinal cord were similar, and injection of basic fibroblast growth factor increased this absorbance. Results showed that after spinal cord injury, the distal motor neurons and motor endplate degenerated. Changes in calcitonin gene related peptide and acetylcholinesterase in the spinal cord anterior horn motor neurons and motor endplate then occurred that were consistent with this regeneration. 10Cylindrical vector beam multiplexer/demultiplexer using off-axis polarization control显示文摘The emergence of cylindrical vector beam(CVB)multiplexing has opened new avenues for high-capacity optical communication.Although several configurations have been developed to couple/separate CVBs,the CVB multiplexer/demultiplexer remains elusive due to lack of effective off-axis polarization control technologies.Here we report a straightforward approach to realize off-axis polarization control for CVB multiplexing/demultiplexing based on a metal–dielectric–metal metasurface.We show that the left-and right-handed circularly polarized(LHCP/RHCP)components of CVBs are independently modulated via spin-to-orbit interactions by the properly designed metasurface,and then simultaneously multiplexed and demultiplexed due to the reversibility of light path and the conservation of vector mode.We also show that the proposed multiplexers/demultiplexers are broadband(from 1310 to 1625 nm)and compatible with wavelength-division-multiplexing.As a proof of concept,we successfully demonstrate a four-channel CVB multiplexing communication,combining wavelength-division-multiplexing and polarization-division-multiplexing with a transmission rate of 1.56 Tbit/s and a bit-error-rate of 10^(−6) at the receive power of−21.6 dBm.This study paves the way for CVB multiplexing/demultiplexing and may benefit high-capacity CVB communication.Shuqing Chen Zhiqiang Xie Huapeng Ye Xinrou Wang Zhenghao Guo Yanliang He Ying Li Xiaocong Yuan Dianyuan Fan 2021Light(Science & Applications)2021,10,12:6

12Electro-elastic Fields of Piezoelectric Materials with An Elliptic Hole under Uniform Internal Shearing Forces显示文摘The existing investigations on piezoelectric materials containing an elliptic hole mainly focus on remote uniform tensile loads. In order to have a better understanding of the fracture behavior of piezoelectric materials under different loading conditions, theoretical and numerical solutions are presented for an elliptic hole in transversely isotropic piezoelectric materials subjected to uniform internal shearing forces based on the complex potential approach. By solving ten variable linear equations, the analytical solutions inside and outside the hole satisfying the permeable electric boundary conditions are obtained. Taking PZT-4 ceramic into consideration, numerical results of electro-elastic fields along the edge of the hole and axes, and the electric displacements in the hole are presented. Comparison with stresses in transverse isotropic elastic materials shows that the hoop stress at the ends of major axis in two kinds of material equals zero for the various ratios of major to minor axis lengths; If the ratio is greater than 1, the hoop stress in piezoelectric materials is smaller than that in elastic materials, and if the ratio is smaller than 1, the hoop stress in piezoelectric materials is greater than that in elastic materials; When it is a circle hole, the shearing stress in two materials along axes is the same. The distribution of electric displacement components shows that the vertical electric displacement in the hole and along axes in the material is always zero though under the permeable electric boundary condition; The horizontal and vertical electric displacement components along the edge of the hole are symmetrical and antisymmetrical about horizontal axis, respectively. The stress and electric displacement distribution tends to zero at distances far from the elliptical hole, which conforms to the conclusion usually made on the basis of Saint-Venant's principle. 13Orbital angular momentum mode logical operation using optical diffractive neural network显示文摘Optical logical operations demonstrate the key role of optical digital computing,which can perform general-purpose calculations and possess fast processing speed,low crosstalk,and high throughput.The logic states usually refer to linear momentums that are distinguished by intensity distributions,which blur the discrimination boundary and limit its sustainable applications.Here,we introduce orbital angular momentum(OAM)mode logical operations performed by optical diffractive neural networks(ODNNs).Using the OAM mode as a logic state not only can improve the parallel processing ability but also enhance the logic distinction and robustness of logical gates owing to the mode infinity and orthogonality.ODNN combining scalar diffraction theory and deep learning technology is designed to independently manipulate the mode and spatial position of multiple OAM modes,which allows for complex multilight modulation functions to respond to logic inputs.We show that few-layer ODNNs successfully implement the logical operations of AND,OR,NOT,NAND,and NOR in simulations.The logic units of XNOR and XOR are obtained by cascading the basic logical gates of AND,OR,and NOT,which can further constitute logical half-adder gates.Our demonstrations may provide a new avenue for optical logical operations and are expected to promote the practical application of optical digital computing.PEIPEI WANG WENJIE XIONG ZEBIN HUANG YANLIANG HE ZHIQIANG XIE JUNMIN LIU HUAPENG YE YING LI DIANYUAN FAN SHUQING CHEN 2021Photonics Research2021,9,10:5
14Methyl jasmonate mediates melatonin-induced cold tolerance of grafted watermelon plants显示文摘Root–shoot communication has a critical role in plant adaptation to environmental stress.Grafting is widely applied to enhance the abiotic stress tolerance of many horticultural crop species;however,the signal transduction mechanism involved in this tolerance remains unknown.Here,we show that pumpkin-or figleaf gourd rootstock-enhanced cold tolerance of watermelon shoots is accompanied by increases in the accumulation of melatonin,methyl jasmonate(MeJA),and hydrogen peroxide(H_(2)O_(2)).Increased melatonin levels in leaves were associated with both increased melatonin in rootstocks and MeJA-induced melatonin biosynthesis in leaves of plants under cold stress.Exogenous melatonin increased the accumulation of MeJA and H_(2)O_(2) and enhanced cold tolerance,while inhibition of melatonin accumulation attenuated rootstock-induced MeJA and H_(2)O_(2) accumulation and cold tolerance.MeJA application induced H_(2)O_(2) accumulation and cold tolerance,but inhibition of JA biosynthesis abolished rootstock-or melatonin-induced H_(2)O_(2) accumulation and cold tolerance.Additionally,inhibition of H_(2)O_(2) production attenuated MeJA-induced tolerance to cold stress.Taken together,our results suggest that melatonin is involved in grafting-induced cold tolerance by inducing the accumulation of MeJA and H_(2)O_(2).MeJA subsequently increases melatonin accumulation,forming a self-amplifying feedback loop that leads to increased H_(2)O_(2) accumulation and cold tolerance.This study reveals a novel regulatory mechanism of rootstock-induced cold tolerance.Hao Li Yanliang Guo Zhixiang Lan Kai Xu Jingjing Chang Golam Jalal Ahammed Jianxiang Ma Chunhua Wei Xian Zhang 2021Horticulture Research2021,8,1:5
15Precipitation transformation of rare earth sulfate into chloride with p-dodecylphenoxy carboxylic acids显示文摘Methods for transforming rare earth(RE)sulfate into chloride mainly include extraction process with organophosphonic mono-acids or aliphatic acids and precipitation process with ammonium bicarbonate(NH4 HCO3).In this paper,alkylphenoxy carboxylic acids(HAs)ofp-dodecylphenoxy acetic acid(HA-Ⅰ),pdodecylphenoxypropanoic acid(HA-Ⅱ)and p-dodecylphenoxybutyric acid(HA-Ⅲ),which were liquid at room temperature were synthesized and characterized.The precipitation mechanisms of RE elements with the HAs were investigated and the HA/RE molar ratios of the solid complexes were determined as3:1 by equi-molar series method which accord with the principle of charge balance.Applicability of HAs for the transformation of RE sulfate from concentrated sulfuric acid roasted RE concentrate into chloride via precipitation method was discussed.100%HA-Ⅱwas selected as the liquid organic precipitant without dilution of volatile solvent soracceleration of phase separation by phase-modifiers.The RE sulfate solution can be precipitated by HA-Ⅱafter neutralization with liquid NaOH and stripped with concentrated HCl at room temperature.High concentration of RE chloride of 218.1 g/L with low residue of sulfate radical of 0.536 g/L was obtained.The residual organic precipitant in the raffinate solution was tested to be lower than 8 mg/L at 25℃and the chemical oxygen demand(COD)in wastewater was less than 50 mg/L.Yanliang Wang Jia Su Xiangguang Guo Jianguo Cui Yan Bai Fujian Li Xiaoqi Sun 2019Journal of Rare Earths2019,37,12:5
16Preparation of high-purity neodymium chloride by solvent extraction in the mixer-settlers: A pilot-scale investigation显示文摘A novel purification process based on mixer-settlers for high-purity NdCl_3 was developed. Acidic solution and pure NdCl_3 solution were compared to scrub the less-extractable rare earths(REs)(La, Ce, and Pr)from loaded organic phase. The extractant with low-degree saponification was evaluated to remove the more-extractable element(Sm). Then the RE impurities(La, Ce, Pr, and Sm) in Nd were purified by an integrated process. Furthermore, effect of smuggling behavior on the purification of NdCl_3 in mixersettlers was studied. 17Effect of electrolyte anions on the cycle life of a polymer electrode in aqueous batteries显示文摘Redox polymers are a class of high-capacity, low-cost electrode materials for electrochemical energy storage, butthe mechanisms governing their cycling stability are not well understood. Here we investigate the effect of anionson the longevity of a p-dopable polymer through comparing two aqueous zinc-based electrolytes. Galvanostaticcycling studies reveal the polymer has better capacity retention in the presence of triflate anions than that withsulfate anions. Based on electrode microstructural analysis and evolution profiles of the cell stacking pressure, theorigin of capacity decay is ascribed to mechanical fractures induced by volume change of the polymer activematerials during repeated cycling. The volume change of the polymer with the triflate anion is 61% less than thatwith the sulfate anion, resulting in fewer cracks in the electrodes. The difference is related to the different anionsolvation structures—the triflate anion has fewer solvated water molecules compared with the sulfate anion,leading to smaller volume expansion. 18Double layered superhydrophobic PDMS-Candle soot coating with durable corrosion resistance and thermal-mechanical robustness显示文摘Nature-inspired superhydrophobic coatings with typical Cassie-Baxter contacts garner numerous interests for multifunctional applications.However,undesirable poor mechanical and thermal stability are still crucial bottlenecks for real-world employment.This work introduces a cost-effective,fluorine free and versatile strategy to achieve double-layered PDMS agglutinated candle soot coating with superior water-repellent superhydrophobicity.The surface morphologies,chemical compositions and wettability behaviors were investigated in detail.The mechanical stability,chemical stability and durable corrosion resistance of the fabricated PDMS-CS coating were evaluated through friction,calcination and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy.The results demonstrate a remarkably enhanced mechanical robustness and corrosion resistance,indicating PDMS units can act as an effective agglutinating agent between candle soot and underlying substrate.The synergistic effect of PDMS agglutination,porous network nanostructures and extremely low surface energy of incomplete combustion induced candle soot deposition contribute to the eventually robust corrosion resisting coating,which greatly increases the possibility for practical applications.Binbin Zhang Jizhou Duan Yanliang Huang Baorong Hou 2021Journal of Materials Science & Technology2021,,12:4

20Size-controlled chalcopyrite CuInS_2 nanocrystals:One-pot synthesis and optical characterization显示文摘Chalcopyrite ternary CuInS2 semiconductor nanocrystals have been synthesized via a facile one-pot chemical approach by using oleylamine and oleic acid as solvents.The as-prepared CuInS2 nanocrystals have been characterized by instrumental analyses such as X-ray diffraction(XRD),X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS),transmission electron microscopy(TEM)/high-resolution TEM(HRTEM),energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy(EDS),UV-vis absorption spectroscopy(UV-vis) and photoluminescence(PL) spectroscopy.The particle sizes of the CuInS2 nanocrystals could be tuned from 2 to 10 nm by simply varying reaction conditions.Oleylamine,which acted as both a reductant and an effective capping agent,plays an important role in the size-controlled synthesis of CuInS2 nanocrystals.Based on a series of comparative experiments under different reaction conditions,the probable formation mechanism of CuInS2 nanocrystals has been proposed.Furthermore,the UV-vis absorption and PL emission spectra of the chalcopyrite CuInS2 nanocrystals have been found to be adjustable in the range of 527-815 nm and 625-800 nm,respectively,indicating their potential application in photovoltaic devices.PENG ShengJie LIANG YanLiang CHENG FangYi LIANG Jing 2012Science China Chemistry2012,55,7:3
