1The Reference Genome Sequence of Scutellaria baicalensis Provides Insights into the Evolution of Wogonin Biosynthesis显示文摘Scutellaria baicalensis Georgi is important in Chinese traditional medicine where preparations of dried roots,'Huang Qin,' are used for liver and lung complaints and as complementary cancer treatments. We report a high-quality reference genome sequence for S. baicalensis where 93% of the 408.14-Mb genome has been assembled into nine pseudochromosomes with a super-N50 of 33.2 Mb. Comparison of this sequence with those of closely related species in the order Lamiales, sesamum indicum and Salvia splendens,revealed that a specialized metabolic pathway for the synthesis of 4'-deoxyflavone bioactives evolved in the genus Scu-tellaria. We found that the gene encoding a specific cinnamate coenzyme A ligase likely obtained its newfunc- tion following recent mutations, and that four genes encoding enzymes in the 4'-deoxyflavone pathway are present as tandem repeats in the genome of S. baicalensis. Further analyses revealed that gene duplications, segmental duplication, gene amplification, and point mutations coupled to gene neo- and subfunctionaliza-tions were involved in the evolution of 4'-deoxyflavone synthesis in the genus Scutellaria. Our study not only provides significant insight into the evolution of specific flavone biosynthetic pathways in the mint family, Lamiaceae, but also will facilitate the development of tools for enhancing bioactive productivity by metabolic engineering in microbes or by molecular breeding in plants. 5An Adaptive Obstacle Avoidance Algorithm for Unmanned Surface Vehicle in Complicated Marine Environments显示文摘Unmanned surface vehicles(USVs) are important autonomous marine robots that have been studied and gradually applied into practice. However, the autonomous navigation of USVs, especially the issue of obstacle avoidance in complicated marine environment, is still a fundamental problem. After studying the characteristics of the complicated marine environment, we propose a novel adaptive obstacle avoidance algorithm for USVs,based on the Sarsa on-policy reinforcement learning algorithm.The proposed algorithm is composed of local avoidance module and adaptive learning module, which are organized by the “divide and conquer” strategy-based architecture. The course angle compensation strategy is proposed to offset the disturbances from sea wind and currents. In the design of payoff value function of the learning strategy, the course deviation angle and its tendency are introduced into action rewards and penalty policies. The validity of the proposed algorithm is verified by comparative experiments of simulations and sea trials in three sea-state marine environments. 6A constitutive model for the state-dependent behaviors of rockfill material considering particle breakage显示文摘The particle breakage during specimen compaction had more significant influence on the position of the breakage critical-state line(BCSL)of Tacheng rockfill material(TRM)in the e-lnp’plane than the particle breakage during shearing,based on the large-scale triaxial compression tests on TRM in a wide range of densities and pressures.The state-dependent dilatancy and the plastic modulus were correlated to the breakage index,based on the formulations of the BCSL of TRM in the e-lnp’plane.The state-dependent model considering particle breakage was proposed for TRM within the framework of the generalized plasticity theory.The proposed model contained fourteen material constants.The test data of TRM from Group A were adopted to determine these material constants,while the test data from Group B were used independently to validate the model predictive capacity.The comparisons between model simulations and test data illustrated that the model with consideration of particle breakage could well represent the stress-strain behaviors of TRM,e.g.,the strain hardening and volumetric contraction behaviors at a loose state and the strain softening and volumetric expansion behaviors at a dense state,and also the particle breakage behaviors of TRM.XIAO Yang LIU HanLong YANG Gui CHEN YuMin JIANG JingShan 2014Science China(Technological Sciences)2014,57,8:6
7An experiment-library least-squares method on on-line coal element contents analysis显示文摘A new experiment-library least-squares(experiment-LLs) method used in the neutron inelastic-scattering and thermal-capture analysis(NITA) technique for on-line coal analysis was developed,which has significantly decreased the non-linear radiation effects.In this method,sixty samples with preset elemental contents were made,from whose experimental spectra twenty single-element spectrum libraries corresponding to twenty kinds of coal were built using the least-squares method.The spectrum of the unknown sample was analyzed based on these twenty libraries to estimate its element contents.With the initial estimated result,the procedure of developing library and analysis was iterated to build a new library with the closest element contents to the unknown sample.Hence the experiment-LLs method can reduce non-linear radiation effects.The experiment-LLs method was performed on an improved coal analysis system which was equipped with a long-life 14 MeV pulsed-neutron generator,a bulk BGO detector with a temperature controller,a moisture meter and coal-smoothing device.The precisions of this system for ash content,water content,volatile content and calorific value have reached 1.0wt%,0.5wt%,1.0wt%,350 kJ/kg,respectively.WANG HuiDong LU JingBin LU YuPing YANG Dong MA KeYan YANG Kang LIU YuMin CHENG DaoWen 2012Science China(Physics,Mechanics & Astronomy)2012,55,11:6

9Biocompatibility studies of silk fibroin-based artificial nerve grafts in vitro and in vivo显示文摘Silk fibroin(SF)has been used extensively in the biomedical field including tissue engineering for the generation of artificial bones,skins or ligaments.We have previously reported on good in vitro biocompatibility of SF fibers with peripheral nerve tissues and cells.In the present study,we developed a novel design of the SF-based artificial nerve graft(SF graft)which was composed of a SF-nerve guidance conduit(NGC)inserted with SF fibers.MTT assay was performed to determine the cytotoxicity of the SF-NGC extract fluid on the cultured L929 cells derived from an immortalized mouse fibroblast cell line.In addition,this SF graft was implanted into adult rats for bridging a 10-mm long sciatic nerve defect.The following-up experiments at initial stage(1-4 week)of nerve regeneration including routine blood tests and histochemical investigation were conducted to evaluate the in vivo biocompatibility of the SF graft with peripheral nerves.The results demonstrated that the SF-NGC graft was biocompatible with the surrounding tissues and cells due to its low inflammatory potential with a grade 0 under the U.S.Pharmacopeia guidelines and it was generally suitable to a certain degree for bridging peripheral nerve defects in virtue of supporting Schwann cell adherence,expansion and migration.Therefore the SF graft is a promising alternative to classical autografts for peripheral nerve repair.Chen Xuemei Yang Yumin Wu Jian Zhao Yahong Ding Fei Gu Xiaosong 2007Progress in Natural Science:Materials International2007,17,9:5
10Whole-genome resequencing of Osmanthus fragrans provides insights into flower color evolution显示文摘Osmanthus fragrans is a well-known ornamental plant that has been domesticated in China for 2500 years.More than 160 cultivars have been found during this long period of domestication,and they have subsequently been divided into four cultivar groups,including the Yingui,Jingui,Dangui,and Sijigui groups.These groups provide a set of materials to study genetic evolution and variability.Here,we constructed a reference genome of O.fragrans‘Liuyejingui’in the Jingui group and investigated its floral color traits and domestication history by resequencing a total of 122 samples,including 119 O.fragrans accessions and three other Osmanthus species,at an average sequencing depth of 15×.The population structure analysis showed that these 119 accessions formed an apparent regional cluster.The results of linkage disequilibrium(LD)decay analysis suggested that varieties with orange/red flower color in the Dangui group had undergone more artificial directional selection;these varieties had the highest LD values among the four groups,followed by the Sijigui,Jingui,and Yingui groups.Through a genome-wide association study,we further identified significant quantitative trait loci and genomic regions containing several genes,such as ethylene-responsive transcription factor 2 and Arabidopsis pseudoresponse regulator 2,that are positively associated with petal color.Moreover,we found a frameshift mutation with a 34-bp deletion in the first coding region of the carotenoid cleavage dioxygenase 4 gene.This frameshift mutation existed in at least one site on both alleles in all varieties of the Dangui group.The results from this study shed light on the genetic basis of domestication in woody plants,such as O.fragrans.Hongguo Chen Xiangling Zeng Jie Yang Xuan Cai Yumin Shi Riru Zheng Zhenqi Wang Junyi Liu Xinxin Yi Siwei Xiao Qiang Fu Jingjing Zou Caiyun Wang 2021Horticulture Research2021,8,1:5
11Reduced function and disassembled microtubules of cultured cardiomyocytes in spaceflight显示文摘Lack of gravity during spaceflight has profound effects on cardiovascular system, but little is known about how the cardiomyocytes respond to microgravity. In the present study, the effects of spaceflight on the structure and function of cultured cardiomyocytes were reported. The primary cultures of neo- natal rat cardiomyocytes were carried on Shenzhou-6 spacecraft and activated at 4 h in orbit. 8 samples were fixed respectively at 4, 48 and 96 h after launching for immunofluorescence of cytoskeleton, and 2 samples remained unfixed to analyze contractile and secretory functions of the cultures. Ground sam- ples were treated in our laboratory in parallel. After 115 h spaceflight, video recordings displayed that the number of spontaneous beating sites in flown samples decreased significantly, and the cells in the beating aggregate contracted in fast frequency without synchrony. Radioimmunoassay of the medium showed that the atrial natriuretic peptide secreted from flown cells reduced by 59.6%. Confocal images demonstrated the time-dependant disassembly of mirotubules versus unchanged distribution and or- ganization of microfilaments. 12Integrated generation–consumption dispatch based on compensation mechanism considering demand response behavior显示文摘Demand response(DR) is important to account for behaviors of the demand side to yield an optimal dispatch result. However, it is difficult for energy suppliers to collect customers' private information unless there is an incentive mechanism for customers to do so. Therefore,this paper proposes a new integrated generation–consumption dispatch based on compensation mechanism considering DR behavior. Firstly, in light of the dayahead load forecast data, we deduce the utility function model of different customers. By subtracting generating units' operation cost from consumers' total utility, the dispatch model has a decentralized demand participant structure based on this utility function. The utility function is used to describe consumers' preferences and energy consumption behaviors. Secondly, an effective compensation mechanism is designed to ensure customers to select the level of compensation appropriate to their willingness to curtail load. Finally, a new dispatch model is proposed that incorporates the DR compensation mechanism into the generation–consumption dispatch model. The new model can improve the interaction of generation and consumption,and benefit both the energy supplier and its customers. The proposed model is piecewise linearized and solved by a mixed-integer linear programming method. It is tested on a six-bus system and the IEEE 118-bus system. 15A novel integrated non-targeted metabolomic analysis reveals significant metabolite variations between different lettuce (Lactuca sativa. L) varieties显示文摘Lettuce is an important leafy vegetable that represents a significant dietary source of antioxidants and bioactive compounds.However,the levels of metabolites in different lettuce cultivars are poorly characterized.In this study,we used combined GC×GC-TOF/MS and UPLC-IMS-QTOF/MS to detect and relatively quantify metabolites in 30 lettuce cultivars representing large genetic diversity.Comparison with online databases,the published literature,standards as well using collision cross-section values enabled putative identification of 171 metabolites.Sixteen of these 171 metabolites(including phenolic acid derivatives,glycosylated flavonoids,and one iridoid)were present at significantly different levels in leaf and head type lettuces,which suggested the significant metabolomic variations between the leaf and head types of lettuce are related to secondary metabolism.A combination of the results and metabolic network analysis techniques suggested that leaf and head type lettuces contain not only different levels of metabolites but also have significant variations in the corresponding associated metabolic networks.The novel lettuce metabolite library and novel non-targeted metabolomics strategy devised in this study could be used to further characterize metabolic variations between lettuce cultivars or other plants.Moreover,the findings of this study provide important insight into metabolic adaptations due to natural and human selection,which could stimulate further research to potentially improve lettuce quality,yield,and nutritional value.Xiao Yang Shiwei Wei Bin Liu Doudou Guo Bangxiao Zheng Lei Feng Yumin Liu Francisco A.Tomás-Barberán Lijun Luo Danfeng Huang 2018Horticulture Research2018,5,1:3
16Data mining-based study on sub-mentally healthy state among residents in eight provinces and cities in China显示文摘OBJECTIVE: To apply data mining methods to research on the state of sub-mental health among residents in eight provinces and cities in China and to mine latent knowledge about many conditions through data mining and analysis of data on 3970 sub-mentally healthy individuals selected from 13385 relevant question naires.METHODS: The strategic tree algorithm was used to identify the main mani festations of the state of sub-mental health. The backpropogation artificial neural network was used to analyze the main mani festations of sub-healthy mental states of three different degrees. A sub-mental health evaluation model was then established to achieve predictive evaluationresults.RESULTS: Using classifications from the Scale of Chinese Sub-healthy State, the main manifestations of sub-mental health selected using the strate gictree were F1101(Do you lack peace of mind?),F1102(Are you easily nervous when something comes up?), and F1002(Do you often sigh?). The relative intensity of manifestations of sub-mental health was highest for F1101, followed by F1102,and then F1002. Through study of the neural network, better differentiation could be made between moderate and severe and between mild and severe states of sub-mental health. The differentiation between mild and moderate sub-mental health states was less apparent. Additionally, the sub-mental health state evaluation model, which could be used to predict states of sub-mental health of different individuals, was established using F1101, F1102, F1002, and the mental self-assessment totals core.CONCLUSION: The main manifestations of the state of sub-mental health can be discovered using data mining methods to research and analyze the latent laws and knowledge hidden in research evidence on the state of sub-mental health. The state of sub-mental health of different individuals can be rapidly predicted using the model established here.This can provide a basis for assessment and intervention for sub-mental health. 17Nanoparticle mediated controlled delivery of dual growth factors显示文摘Peripheral nerve functional recovery after nerve injury generally requires multiple growth factors by synergistic effect.However,the optical combination of multiple synergistic growth factors for axonal regeneration has been scarcely considered up to now.Meanwhile,the use of growth factors in promoting nerve regeneration was limited by its short biological half-life in vivo,its vulnerability to structure disruption or hydrolyzation,leading to loss of bioactivity.Herein,a novel polymeric nanoparticle delivery system composed of heparin andε-poly-L-lysine(PL)was prepared for control release of nerve growth factor(NGF)and basic fibroblast growth factor(bFGF).The nanoparticles were synthesized by polyelectrolyte complexation in aqueous solution at room temperature,followed by cross-linking with biological genipin.The obtained nanoparticles had a spherical shape,with a mean diameter of about 246 nm,and high growth factors encapsulation efficiency as well as good stability.NGF and bFGF were encapsulated in the nanoparticles and showed a continuous and slow release behavior in vitro.The bioactivities of the released growth factors were evaluated,and exhibited the synergistic effect.The controlled release of the dual synergistic growth factors would improve the treatment of peripheral nerve injury to mimic the natural cellular microenvironments.ZHANG LuZhong ZHOU YouLang LI GuiCai ZHAO YaHong GU XiaoSong YANG YuMin 2014Science China(Life Sciences)2014,57,2:3
18High-efficiency all-dielectric transmission metasurface for linearly polarized light in the visible region显示文摘We propose and numerically investigate an efficient transmission-mode metasurface that consists of quasicontinuous trapezoid-shaped crystalline silicon nanoantennas on a quartz substrate. This metasurface provides a linear phase gradient and realizes both full 2π phase shift and high transmission efficiency in the operating wavelength range from 740 to 780 nm. At the central wavelength around 751 nm, the total transmission efficiency is up to 88.0% and the section of the desired anomalous refraction is 80.4%. The anomalous refraction angle is 29.62°, and larger refraction angle can be achieved by changing the period of the super cell. We demonstrate a refraction angle as large as 38.59°, and the anomalous transmission efficiency reaches 76.6% at wavelength of 741 nm. It is worth mentioning that the structure is much simpler than conventional metasurfaces based on arrays of discrete nanoantennas. 19Aquaporin 4 expression and ultrastructure of the blood-brain barrier following cerebral contusion injury显示文摘This study aimed to investigate aquaporin 4 expression and the ultrastructure of the blood-brain barrier at 2-72 hours following cerebral contusion injury,and correlate these changes to the formation of brain edema.Results revealed that at 2 hours after cerebral contusion and laceration injury,aquaporin 4 expression significantly increased,brain water content and blood-brain barrier permeability increased,and the number of pinocytotic vesicles in cerebral microvascular endothelial cells increased.In addition,the mitochondrial accumulation was observed.As contusion and laceration injury became aggravated,aquaporin 4 expression continued to increase,brain water content and blood-brain barrier permeability gradually increased,brain capillary endothelial cells and astrocytes swelled,and capillary basement membrane injury gradually increased.The above changes were most apparent at 12 hours after injury,after which they gradually attenuated.Aquaporin 4 expression positively correlated with brain water content and the blood-brain barrier index.Our experimental findings indicate that increasing aquaporin 4 expression and blood-brain barrier permeability after cerebral contusion and laceration injury in humans is involved in the formation of brain edema.Xinjun Li Yangyun Han Hong Xu Zhongshu Sun Zengjun Zhou Xiaodong Long Yumin Yang Linbo Zou 2013Neural Regeneration Research2013,8,4:2
20Tunable strength of SiCf/β-Yb_(2)Si_(2)O_(7) interface for different requirements in SiCf/SiC CMC:Inspiration from model composite investigation显示文摘Model composites consisting of Si C fiber embedded inβ-Yb_(2)Si_(2)O_(7) matrix were processed by Spark Plasma Sintering method and the feasibility of tunable Si Cf/Yb_(2)Si_(2)O_(7) interface in Si C-based CMCs were estimated.Weak and strengthened Si Cf/Yb_(2)Si_(2)O_(7) interfaces were achieved by adjusting sintering temperatures.The indentation crack test and fiber push out experiments clearly demonstrated the different debonding mechanisms in the samples.Weak interfaces sintered at 1200 and 1250℃exhibited crack deflection at interface in indentation test.Their low debond energy at the interface,which were comparable to those of Py C or BN,satisfied the well-recognized interfacial debond and crack deflection criteria for CMCs.The interface was strengthened by atomic bonding in model composite sintered at 1450℃,leading to crack penetrating into Si C fiber and high debond energy.The strong interface may be promising in Si Cf/Si C CMC to withstand higher combustion temperature,because Yb_(2)Si_(2)O_(7) will provide plastic deformation capacity,which would serve as weak interphase for crack deflection and energy dissipation.Therefore,it is possible to design the capability of Si C_(f)/RE_(2)Si_(2)O_(7) interface for different requirements by adjusting interfacial strength or debond energy to reach optimal mechanical fuse mechanism in SiC_(f)/SiC CMC.Xirui Lv Mengkun Yue Wenfan Yang Xue Feng Xiaoyan Li Yumin Wang Jiemin Wang Jie Zhang Jingyang Wang 2021Journal of Materials Science & Technology2021,,8:2
