| 1 | Possible causes of central pontine myelinolysis after liver transplantation显示文摘AIM: To sum up the clinical characteristics of patients with central pontine myelinolysis (CPM) after orthotopic liver transplantation (OLT) and to document the possible causes of CPM.METHODS: Data of 142 patients undergoing OLT between January 1999 to May 2003 were analyzed retrospectively.Following risk factors during perioperation were analyzed in patients with and without CPM: primary liver disease,preoperative serum sodium level, magnesium level and plasma osrnolality, fluctuation degree of serum sodium concentration, and irnmunosuppressive drug level, etc.RESULTS: A total of 13 (9.2%) neurologic symptoms appeared in 142 patients post-operation including 5 cases (3.5%) with CPM and 8 cases (5.6%) with cerebral hemorrhage or infarct. Two patients developing CPM after OLT had a hyponatrernia history before operation (serum sodiurn<130 mmol/L), their mean serum sodium level was 130.6±5.54 mmol/L. The serum sodium level was significantly lower in CPM patients than in patients without neurologic complications or with cerebral hemorrhage/infarct (P<0.05).The increase in serum sodiurnduring perioperative 48 h after OLT in patients wibh CPM was significantly greater than bhat in patients with cerebral hemorrhage/infarct but without neurologic complications (19.5+6.54 retool/L, 10.1+6.43 retool/L,4.5±4.34 mmol/L, respectively, P<0.05). Plasma osrnolality was greatly increased postoperation in patients with CPM.Hypomagnesernia was noted in all patients perioperation,but there were no significant differences between groups.The duration of operation on patients with CPM was longer than that on others (492+190.05 rnin, P<0.05). Cyclosporin A (CsA) levels were normal in all patients, but there were significant differences between patients with or without neurologic complications (P<0.05).CONCLUSION: CPM may be more prevalent following liver transplantation. Although the diagnosis of CPM after OLT can be made by overall neurologic evaluations including magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of the head, the mortality is still very high. | 2 | NEW TECHNOLOGY FOR FAULT DIAGNOSIS BASED ON WAVELET DENOISING AND MODIFIED EXPONENTIAL TIME-FREQUENCY DISTRIBUTION显示文摘Fast wavelet multi-resolution analysis (wavelet MRA) provides a effective tool for analyzing and canceling disturbing components in original signal. Because of its exponential frequency axis, this method isn’t suitable for extracting harmonic components. The modified exponential time-frequency distribution ( MED) overcomes the problems of Wigner distribution( WD) ,can suppress cross-terms and cancel noise further more. MED provides high resolution in both time and frequency domains, so it can make out weak period impulse components fmm signal with mighty harmonic components. According to the 'time' behavior, together with 'frequency' behavior in one figure,the essential structure of a signal is revealed clearly. | 3 | ADAPTABLE DESIGN OF MACHINE TOOLS STRUCTURES显示文摘Adaptable design aims to extend the utilities of design and product.The specific methods are developed for practical applications of adaptable design in the design of mechanical structures, including adaptable platform,interface and module designs.Adaptable redesign problems are formulated as adaptable platform design under adaptability bound constraints.Analysis tools are then suggested for the implementation of the redesign of machine tool structures,including variation techniques based sensitivity analysis,similarity-based commonality analysis,performance improvement,and adaptability measures.The specific measure of adaptability for machine tool structures is measured through the quantification of the structural similarity and performance improvement gained from adaptable design.The method provides designers with an approach that brings adaptability into the design process,with considering the cost and benefits of such adaptability. | 4 | Protein kinase C/ζ (PRKCZ) Gene is associated with type 2 diabetes in Han population of North China and analysis of its haplotypes显示文摘AIM: To identify the susceptible gene (s) for type 2 diabetes in the prevousely mapped region, 1p36.33-p36.23, in Han population of North China using single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) and to analyze the haplotypes of the gene (s) related to type 2 diabetes.METHODS: Twenty three SNPs located in 10 candidate genes in the mapped region were chosen from public SNP domains with bioinformatic methods, and the single base extension (SBE) method was used to genotype the loci for 192 sporadic type 2 diabetes patients and 172 normal individuals, all with Hah ethical origin, to perform this casecontrol study. The haplotypes with significant difference in the gene (s) were further analyzed.RFSULTS: Among the 23 SNPs, 8 were found to be common in Chinese Han population. Allele frequency of one SNP,rs436045 in the protein kinase C/ζgene (PRKCZ) was statistically different between the case and control groups (P<0.05). Furthermore, haplotypes at five SNP sites of PRKCZ gene were identified.CONCLUSION: PRKCZgene may be associated with type 2 diabetes in Hah population in North China. | 9 | The Effect of Haplotype-Block Definitions on Inference of Haplotype-Block Structure and htSNPs Selection显示文摘It has been recently suggested that the human genome is organized as a series of haplotype blocks, and efforts to create a genome-wide haplotype map are already underway. Several computational algorithms have been proposed to partition the genome. However, little is known about their behaviors in relation to the haplotype-block partitioning and haplotypetagging SNPs selection. Here, we present a systematic comparison of three classes of haplotype-block partition definitions, a diversity-based method, a linkage-disequilibrium (LD)-based method, and a recombination-based method.The data used were derived from a coalescent simulation under both a uniform recombination model and one that assumes recombination hotspots. There were considerable differences in haplotype information loss in the measure of entropy when the partition methods were compared under different population-genetics scenarios. Under both recombination models, the results from the LD-based definition and the recombination-based definition were more similar to each other than were the results from the diversity-based definition. | 15 | Vitamin B1 THIAMIN REQUIRING1 synthase mediates the maintenance of chloroplast function by regulating sugar and fatty acid metabolism in rice显示文摘Vitamin B(VB1),including thiamin,thiamin monophosphate(TMP),and thiamin pyrophosphate(TPP),is an essential micronutrient for all living organisms.Nevertheless,the precise function of VB1 in rice remains unclear.Here,we described a VB1 auxotrophic mutant,chlorotic lethal seedling(cles)from the mutation of OsTH1,which displayed collapsed chloroplast membrane system and decreased pigment content.OsTH1 encoded a phosphomethylpyrimidine kinase/thiamin-phosphate pyrophosphorylase,and was expressed in various tissues,especially in seedlings,leaves,and young panicles.The VB1 content in cles was markedly reduced,despite an increase in the expression of VB1 synthesis genes.The decreased TPP content affected the tricarboxylic acid cycle,pentose phosphate pathway,and de novo fatty acid synthesis,leading to a reduction in fatty acids(C16:0 and C18:0)and sugars(sucrose and glucose)of cles.Additionally,irregular expression of chloroplast membrane synthesis genes led to membrane collapse.We also found that alternative splicing and translation allowed OsTH1 to be localized to both chloroplast and cytosol.Our study revealed that OsTH1 was an essential enzyme in VB1 biosynthesis and played crucial roles in seedling growth and development by participating in fatty acid and sugar metabolism,providing new perspectives on VB1 function in rice. | Yanshen Nie Li Yu Lianlian Mao Wenxuan Zou Xiufeng Zhang Jie Zhao | 2022 | Journal of Integrative Plant Biology2022,64,8: | 1 |
