1Study of the structure of unstable nuclei through the reaction experiments显示文摘Along with the development of the radioactive nuclear beam facility, the study of the structure of unstable nuclei has progressed rapidly over the last few decades. Due to the weakly binding property, the structure information of the unstable nuclei comes primarily from the scattering or reaction experiments. Therefore it would be very important to understand clearly the reaction mechanism involved in the experiment. We outlined here the major reaction mechanisms which are adequate to the study of unstable nuclei, with the focus on the new phenomena and methods in comparison with those with traditional stable nucleus beam. Especially emphasized are the breakup and knockout reactions, developed as accurate tools for spectroscopy investigation into the nuclear structure with low intensity secondary beam. 2A new gain-of-function OsGS2/GRF4 allele generated by CRISPR/Cas9 genome editing increases rice grain size and yield显示文摘Grain size is one of the most important factors affecting rice grain quality and yield,and attracts great attention from molecular biologists and breeders.In this study,we engineered a CRISPR/Cas9 system targeting the miR396 recognition site of the rice GS2 gene,which encodes growth-regulating factor 4(OsGRF4)and regulates multiple agronomic traits including grain size,grain quality,nitrogen use efficiency,abiotic stress response,and seed shattering.In contrast to most previous genome editing efforts in which indel mutations were chosen to obtain null mutants,a mutant named GS2^(E) carrying an in-frame 6-bp deletion and 1-bp substitution within the miR396-targeted sequence was identified.GS2^(E) plants showed increased expression of GS2 in consistent with impaired repression by miR396.As expected,the gain-of-function GS2^(E) mutant exhibited multiple beneficial traits including increased grain size and yield and bigger grain length/width ratio.Thousand grain weight and grain yield per plant of GS2^(E) plants were increased by 23.5%and 10.4%,respectively.These improved traits were passed to hybrids in a semidominant way,suggesting that the new GS2^(E) allele has great potential in rice improvement.Taken together,we report new GS2 germplasm and describe a novel gene-editing strategy that can be widely employed to improve grain size and yield in rice.This trait-improvement strategy could be applied to other genes containing miRNA target sites,in particular the conserved miR396-GRF/GIF module that governs plant growth,development and environmental response.Wenshu Wang Weipeng Wang Yanlin Pan Chao Tan Hongjing Li Ya Chen Xingdan Liu Jing Wei Nian Xu Yu Han Han Gu Rongjian Ye Qi Ding Chonglie Ma 2022The Crop Journal2022,10,4:3
3β-decay studies of the neutron-rich ^(18,21)N isotopes显示文摘The β-decay studies of neutron-rich 18,21N isotopes have been performed using β-n, β-γ, and β-n-γ coincidence methods. The 18,21N ions were produced by the fragmentation of the 22Ne and 26Mg beams, respectively, on a thick beryllium target. The time of flight of the emitted neutrons following the β-decay of 18,21N was measured by a neutron detector system with wide energy detection range and low-energy detection threshold. In addition, several clover germanium detectors were used to detect the β-delayed γ-rays. The half-lives of the β-decays of 18N and 21N were determined to be (619±2) ms and (82.9±7.5) ms, respec tively. Several new β-delayed neutron groups were observed with a total branching ratio of (6.98±1.46)% and (90.5±4.2)% for 18N and 21N, respectively. The level schemes of 18O and 21O were deduced. 4Magnesium-based materials in orthopaedics:material properties and animal models显示文摘As a new generation of medical metal materials,degradable magnesium-based materials have excellent mechanical properties and osteogenic promoting ability,making them promising materials for the treatment of refractory bone diseases.Animal models can be used to understand and evaluate the performance of materials in complex physiological environments,providing relevant data for preclinical evaluation of implants and laying the foundation for subsequent clinical studies.To date,many researchers have studied the biocompatibility,degradability and osteogenesis of magnesium-based materials,but there is a lack of review regarding the effects of magnesium-based materials in vivo.In view of the growing interest in these materials,this review briefly describes the properties of magnesium-based materials and focuses on the safety and efficacy of magnesium-based materials in vivo.Various animal models including rats,rabbits,dogs and pigs are covered to better understand and evaluate the progress and future of magnesium-based materials.This literature analysis reveals that the magnesium-based materials have good biocompatibility and osteogenic activity,thus causing no adverse reaction around the implants in vivo,and that they exhibit a beneficial effect in the process of bone repair.In addition,the degradation rate in vivo can also be improved by means of alloying and coating.These encouraging results show a promising future for the use of magnesium-based materials in musculoskeletal disorders.Xirui Jing Qiuyue Ding Qinxue Wu Weijie Su Keda Yu Yanlin Su Bing Ye Qing Gao Tingfang Sun Xiaodong Guo 2021Biomaterials Translational2021,2,3:1

6Cardiovascular toxicity with CTLA-4 inhibitors in cancer patients:A meta-analysis显示文摘Background:With the emergence of cytotoxic T lymphocyte-associated protein-4(CTLA-4)inhibitors,the outcomes of patients with malignant tumors have improved significantly.However,the incidence of cardiovascular adverse events has also increased,which can affect tumor treatment.In this study,we evaluated the incidence and severity of adverse cardiovascular events caused by CTLA-4 inhibitors by analyzing reported trials that involved CTLA-4 inhibitor therapy.Methods:Randomized clinical trials published in English from January 1,2013,to November 30,2022,were searched using the Cochrane Library and PubMed databases.All included trials examined all grade and grades 3–5 cardiac and vascular adverse events.These involved comparisons of CTLA-4 inhibitors to placebo,CTLA-4 inhibitors plus chemotherapy to chemotherapy alone,CTLA-4 inhibitors combined with PD-1/PD-L1 inhibitors to PD-1/PD-L1 inhibitors alone,and CTLA-4 inhibitors plus target agent to PD-1/PD-L1 inhibitors plus target agent.The odds ratio(OR)and corresponding 95%confidence intervals(CIs)were calculated using the Mantel-Haenszel method.Results:Overall,20 trials were included.CTLA-4 inhibitors significantly increased the incidence of all-grade cardiovascular toxicity(OR=1.33,95%CI:1.00–1.75,p=0.05).The incidence of all-grade cardiovascular toxicity increased in malignant tumor patients who received single-agent CTLA-4 inhibitors(OR=1.73,95%CI:1.13–2.65,p=0.01),as well as the incidence rate of grades 3–5 cardiovascular adverse events(OR=2.00,95%CI:1.08–3.70,p=0.03).Compared with the non-CTLA-4 inhibitor group,CTLA-4 inhibitors plus chemotherapy,PD-1/PD-L1 inhibitors,or target agent did not significantly affect the incidence of cardiac and vascular toxicity.The incidence of grades 3–5 cardiac failure,hypertension,pericardial effusion,myocarditis,and atrial fibrillation were much higher among patients exposed to CTLA-4 inhibitor,but the data were not statistically significant.Conclusion:Our findings suggest that the incidence rate of all cardiovascular toxicity and severe cardiovascular toxicity increased in patients who were administered CTLA-4 inhibitors.In addition,the risk of serious cardiovascular toxic events was independent of the type of adverse event.From these results,physicians should assess the benefits and risks of CTLA-4 inhibitors when treating malignancies.Huiyi Liu Lu Fu Shuyu Jin Xingdong Ye Yanlin Chen Sijia Pu Yumei Xue 2024Cancer Innovation2024,3,3:0

8High-lying excited states in ^10Be from the ^9Be(^9Be,^10Be)^8Be reaction显示文摘A transfer-reaction experiment of ~9Be(~9Be,^(10)Be)~8Be was performed at a beam energy of 45 Me V.Excited states in ^(10)Be up to 18.80 Me V are produced using missing mass and invariant mass methods.Most of the observed high-lying resonant states,reconstructed from theα+~6He and t+~7Li decay channels,agree with the previously reported results.In addition,two new resonances at 15.6 and 18.8 Me V are identified from the present measurement.The 18.55 Me V state is found to decay into both the t + ~7Lig:s: and t + ~7Li?(0.478 MeV) channels, with a relative branching ratio of 0:93 ± 0:33. 11Analysis of total reaction cross sections for deuterons on 1p-shell-nuclei显示文摘This study aims to analyze the differential cross sections(DCSs) of elastic scattering and total reaction cross sections(TRCSs) of the loosely-bound deuteron projectile impinging on 1 p-shell nuclei, such as9 Be,12 C, and16 O, at incident energies ranging between10.6 and 171 MeV using the continuum discretized coupled channel(CDCC) method. By fitting the experimental data for the DCSs and TRCSs, energy-dependent renormalization factors for the real and imaginary parts of the nucleon-nucleus opticalmodel potentials deduced from the studies proposed by Koning and Delaroche(KD02) and by Watson, Singh, and Segel(WSS),are obtained. It is found that with the WSS potential, which was obtained specifically for 1 p-shell nuclei, the CDCC calculations can simultaneously reproduce both the DCSs and the TRCSs. 12Emerging interactively stretchable electronics with optical and electrical dual-signal feedbacks based on structural color materials显示文摘The booming development of wearable devices has aroused increasing interests in flexible and stretchable devices.With mechanosensory functionality,these devices are highly desirable on account of their wide range of applications in electronic skin,personal healthcare,human–machine interfaces and beyond.However,they are mostly limited by single electrical signal feedback,restricting their diverse applications in visualized mechanical sensing.Inspired by the mechanochromism of structural color materials,interactively stretchable electronics with optical and electrical dual-signal feedbacks are recently emerged as novel sensory platforms,by combining both of their sensing mechanisms and characteristics.Herein,recent studies on interactively stretchable electronics based on structural color materials are reviewed.Following a brief introduction of their basic components(i.e.,stretchable electronics and mechanochromic structural color materials),two types of interactively stretchable electronics with respect to the nanostructures of mechanochromic materials are outlined,focusing primarily on their design considerations and fabrication strategies.Finally,the main challenges and future perspectives of these emerging devices are discussed.Jialin Wang Kai Zhao Changqing Ye Yanlin Song 2024Nano Research2024,17,3:0
13Enhanced monopole transition strength from the cluster decay of ^(13)C显示文摘The inelastic excitations and cluster decay of ^(13)C have been measured using the reaction,9Be(^(13)C, ^(13)C* →~9Be + α)~9Be. We observe strong excitation to the 14.3-MeV(1/2-) resonant state from the cluster-decay channel, leading to an enhanced monopole matrix element of(6.3 ± 0.6) fm^2. This large cluster-related monopole strength is a clear indication of the cluster-structure domination of this state and is consistent with the recent prediction of the orthogonality condition model(OCM). 16Multiscale design of stiffening and ROS scavenging hydrogels for the augmentation of mandibular bone regeneration显示文摘Although biomimetic hydrogels play an essential role in guiding bone remodeling,reconstructing large bone defects is still a significant challenge since bioinspired gels often lack osteoconductive capacity,robust mechanical properties and suitable antioxidant ability for bone regeneration.To address these challenges,we first engineered molecular design of hydrogels(gelatin/polyethylene glycol diacrylate/2-(dimethylamino)ethyl methacrylate,GPEGD),where their mechanical properties were significantly enhanced via introducing trace amounts of additives(0.5 wt%).The novel hybrid hydrogels show high compressive strength(>700 kPa),stiff modulus(>170 kPa)and strong ROS-scavenging ability.Furthermore,to endow the GPEGD hydrogels excellent osteoinductions,novel biocompatible,antioxidant and BMP-2 loaded polydopamine/heparin nanoparticles(BPDAH)were developed for functionalization of the GPEGD gels(BPDAH-GPEGD).In vitro results indicate that the antioxidant BPDAH-GPEGD is able to deplete elevated ROS levels to protect cells viability against ROS damage.More importantly,the BPDAH-GPEGD hydrogels have good biocompatibility and promote the osteo differentiation of preosteoblasts and bone regenerations.At 4 and 8 weeks after implantation of the hydrogels in a mandibular bone defect,Micro-computed tomography and histology results show greater bone volume and enhancements in the quality and rate of bone regeneration in the BPDAH-GPEGD hydrogels.Thus,the multiscale design of stiffening and ROS scavenging hydrogels could serve as a promising material for bone regeneration applications.Yanlin Wu Xuan Li Yimin Sun Xiujun Tan Chenglin Wang Zhenming Wang Ling Ye 2023Bioactive Materials2023,,2:0
17A vivid Au-porous anodic alumina composite film with the inverted taper structure for label-free detection显示文摘Localized surface plasmon resonance(LSPR)has been widely used in medical detection because of its time effectiveness,noninvasiveness,high sensitivity,and relatively simple fabrication process.Porous anodic alumina(PAA)can be regarded as a plasma substrate for label-free detection due to its unique two-dimensional structure.In this work,a vivid Au-PAA composite film with the inverted taper structure was developed by multi-step anodic oxidation and pore-widening processes followed by magnetron sputtering with Au nanoparticles(AuNPs).The highly saturated and bright structural color was generated by the synergistic effect of photonic and plasmonic modes.Interestingly,various Au-PAA composite films with structural colors altering from purple to red were obtained via adjusting the height/diameter ratio of PAA.Benefiting from the inverted taper structure,light trap characteristics were effectively enhanced by increasing the incident light and reducing the diffuse light.In addition,a finite difference time domain(FDTD)model was proposed to predict the relationship between the reflectance peak and the height of the composite film,and the simulated data were in good agreement with the experimental results.As a proof of concept,labelfree detections of various reagents(water,ethanol,glycol,glycerol,and glucose),the concentration of glucose(refractive index sensitivity of 376 nm/RIU,RIU:refractive index unit),and thrombin(detection limit of 0.1×10^(-7)mol/L)were realized by the Au-PAA composite film.This vivid Au-PAA composite film provides a very powerful tool for in-situ label-free bio-detection.Zhumin Yu Kai Zhao Lin Li Changqing Ye Yuxiang Dong Yanlin Song 2023Nano Research2023,16,7:0
