| 1 | Identification of mecciRNAs and their roles in the mitochondrial entry of proteins显示文摘Mammalian mitochondria have small genomes encoding very limited numbers of proteins.Over one thousand proteins and noncoding RNAs encoded by the nuclear genome must be imported from the cytosol into the mitochondria.Here,we report the identification of hundreds of circular RNAs(mecciRNAs)encoded by the mitochondrial genome.We provide both in vitro and in vivo evidence to show that mecciRNAs facilitate the mitochondrial entry of nuclear-encoded proteins by serving as molecular chaperones in the folding of imported proteins.Known components involved in mitochondrial protein and RNA importation,such as TOM40 and PNPASE,interact with mecciRNAs and regulate protein entry.The expression of mecciRNAs is regulated,and these transcripts are critical for the adaption of mitochondria to physiological conditions and diseases such as stresses and cancers by modulating mitochondrial protein importation.mecciRNAs and their associated physiological roles add categories and functions to the known eukaryotic circular RNAs and shed novel light on the communication between mitochondria and the nucleus. | Xu Liu Xiaolin Wang Jingxin Li Shanshan Hu Yuqi Deng Hao Yin Xichen Bao Qiangfeng Cliff Zhang Geng Wang Baolong Wang Qinghua Shi Ge Shan | 2020 | Science China(Life Sciences)2020,63,10: | 15 |
| 2 | Foraging strategies in the greater horseshoe bat(Rhinolophus ferrumequinum)on Lepidoptera in summer显示文摘The diet of the bat Rhinolophus ferrumequinum was studied at the Zhi’an Village of Ji’an City in China, from June to August 2004. The bats were trained in a laboratory (volume: 9×4×4 m3). Foraging strategies of the bat were ob- served at night and prey remains were collected and identi- fied. The results showed that the diet consisted mainly of Lepidoptera in summer, including 11 families, more than 30 species of moths, such as Noctuidae (36.6% by number), Sphingidae (24.1%), Geometridae (13.4%) and Limacodidae (9.5%). The length of culled wings ranged from 10―40 mm (97.7%). Pearson correlation analysis showed that the bat R. ferrumequinum foraged their prey selectively, but not op- portunistically. From field studies, two ways were observed in which the bats retrieved their prey including aerial hawk- ing during peak active period of the insects and flycatching during the insects’ non-peak activity period. | 3 | Experimental study of single-row chevron-jet impingement heat transfer on concave surfaces with different curvatures显示文摘To address the curvature effect on single-row chevron-nozzle jet impingement heat transfer on concave surface,a series of experiments are conducted in the present investigation.Four concave surfaces including one semi-cylindrical concave surface and three parabolic concave surfaces with different width-to-depth ratios are tested under three typical Reynolds numbers(Re=5000,10000 and 15000)and several dimensionless nozzle-to-surface distances ranging from 1 to 8.The results show that the concave curvature has a clear impact on chevron-nozzle jet impingement heat transfer,tightly dependent on jet Reynolds number and impinging distance.In general,the semicylindrical concave surface produces the highest longitudinally-averaged Nusselt number at the leading line of concave surface.Under a low jet Reynolds number,the parabolic concave surface with a highly curved curvature produces higher longitudinally-averaged Nusselt number at the leading line and more uniform longitudinally-averaged Nusselt number distribution along the curvilinear direction.However,the longitudinally-averaged Nusselt number at the leading line of concave surface is the lowest for the highly curved surface under a high jet Reynolds number and large impinging distance.In comparison with the round-nozzle,chevron nozzle plays a more significant role on improving jet impingement heat transfer at small impinging distances. | Yuanwei LYU Jingzhou ZHANG Xichen LIU Yong SHAN | 2019 | Chinese Journal of Aeronautics2019,32,10: | 3 |

| 5 | Biomass-based aligned carbon networks with double-layer construction for tunable electromagnetic shielding with ultra-low reflectivity显示文摘Nowadays,carbon frameworks derived from natural biomaterials have attracted extensive attention for electromagnetic interference(EMI)shielding due to their renewability and affordability.However,it is critical and challenging to achieve effective regulation of shielding effectiveness(SE)as well as weaken the strong EM reflection of highly conductive biomass-based carbon materials.Herein,commercial cotton pads with oriented structure were selected as carbonaceous precursor to fabricate aligned carbon networks by pyrolysis,and the EMI SE of the samples with increased temperature of 800-1000℃ can be accurately controlled in the effective range of~21.7-29.1,~27.7-37.1 and~32.7-43.3 d B with high reflection coefficient of>0.8 by changing the cross-angle between the electric-field direction of incident EM waves and the fiber-orientation direction due to the occurrence of opposite internal electric field.Moreover,the further construction of Salisbury absorber-liked double-layer structure could result in an ultralow reflection coefficient of only~0.06 but enhanced SE variation range up to~38.7-49.3 d B during the adjustment of cross-angle,possibly due to the destructive interference of EM waves in the double-layer carbon networks.This work would provide a simple and effective way for constructing high-performance biomass carbon materials with adjustable EMI shielding and ultra-low reflectivity. | Jiali Chen Da Yi Xichen Jia Guoqing Wang Zhouping Sun Lihua Zhang Yinfeng Liu Bin Shen Wenge Zheng | 2022 | Journal of Materials Science & Technology2022,,8: | 2 |

| 16 | Empirical study on directionalmillimeter-wave propagation in vehicle-to-infrastructure communications between road and roadside显示文摘With the increased demand for unmanned driving technology and big-data transmission between vehicles,millimeter-wave(mmWave)technology,due to its characteristics of large bandwidth and low latency,is considered to be the key technology in future vehicular communication systems.Different from traditional cellular communication,the vehicular communication environment has the characteristics of long distance and high moving speed.However,the existing communication channel tests mostly select low-speed and small-range communication scenarios for testing.The test results are insufficient to provide good data support for the existing vehicular communication research;therefore,in this paper,we carry out a large number of channel measurements in mmWave vehicle-toinfrastructure(V2I)long-distance communication scenarios in the 41 GHz band.We study the received signal strength(RSS)in detail and find that the vibration features of RSS can be best modeled by the modified two-path model considering road roughness.Based on the obtained RSS,a novel close-in(CI)model considering the effect of the transmitter(TX)and receiver(RX)antenna heights(CI-TRH model)is developed.As for the channel characteristics,the distribution of the root-mean-square(RMS)delay spread is analyzed.We also extend the twosection exponential power delay profile(PDP)model to a more general form so that the distance-dependent features of the mmWave channel can be better modeled.Furthermore,the variation in both RMS delay spread and PDP shape parameters with TX-RX distance is analyzed.Analysis results show that TX and RX antenna heights have an effect on large-scale fading.Our modified two-path model,CI-TRH model,and two-section exponential PDP model are proved to be effective. | Xichen LIU Lin YANG Daizhong YU | 2021 | Frontiers of Information Technology & Electronic Engineering2021,22,4: | 0 |

| 18 | Evaluation of temporal compositing algorithms for annual land cover classification using Landsat time series data显示文摘In this paper, four widely used temporal compositing algorithms, i.e.median, maximum NDVI, medoid, and weighted scoring-basedalgorithms, were evaluated for annual land cover classification usingmonthly Landsat time series data. Four study areas located in California,Texas, Kansas, and Minnesota, USA were selected for image compositingand land cover classification. Results indicated that images compositedusing weighted scoring-based algorithms have the best spatial fidelitycompared to other three algorithms. In addition, the weighted scoringbasedalgorithms have superior classification accuracy, followed bymedian, maximum NDVI, and medoid in descending order. However, themedian algorithm has a significant advantage in computational efficiencywhich was ~70 times that of weighted scoring-based algorithms, andwith overall classification accuracy just slightly lower (~0.13% onaverage) than weighted scoring-based algorithms. Therefore, werecommended the weighted scoring-based compositing algorithms forsmall area land cover mapping, and median compositing algorithm forthe land cover mapping of large area considering the balance betweencomputational complexity and classification accuracy.
