1Fractional Fourier domain analysis of decimation and interpolation显示文摘The sampling rate conversion is always used in order to decrease computational amount and storage load in a system. The fractional Fourier transform (FRFT) is a powerful tool for the analysis of nonstationary signals, especially, chirp-like signal. Thus, it has become an active area in the signal processing community, with many applications of radar, communication, electronic warfare, and information security. Therefore, it is necessary for us to generalize the theorem for Fourier domain analysis of decimation and interpolation. Firstly, this paper defines the digital fre- quency in the fractional Fourier domain (FRFD) through the sampling theorems with FRFT. Secondly, FRFD analysis of decimation and interpolation is proposed in this paper with digital frequency in FRFD followed by the studies of interpolation filter and decimation filter in FRFD. Using these results, FRFD analysis of the sam- pling rate conversion by a rational factor is illustrated. The noble identities of decimation and interpolation in FRFD are then deduced using previous results and the fractional convolution theorem. The proposed theorems in this study are the bases for the generalizations of the multirate signal processing in FRFD, which can advance the filter banks theorems in FRFD. 2Regulation of the water status in three co-occurring phreatophytes at the southern fringe of the Taklamakan Desert显示文摘Aims We investigated the regulation of the water status in three predominant perennial C3 phreatophytes(Alhagi sparsifolia,Populus euphratica,Tamarix ramosissima)at typical sites of their occurrence at the southern fringe of the hyperarid Taklamakan Desert(north-west China).Methods In the foreland of the river oasis of Qira(Cele),we determined meteorological variables,plant biomass production,plant water potentials(WL)and the water flux through the plants.We calculated the hydraulic conductance on the flow path from the soil to the leaves(kSL)and tested the effects of kSL,WL and the leaf-to-air difference in the partial pressure of water vapour(Dw)on stomatal regulation using regression analyses.Important Findings Despite high values of plant water potential at the point of turgor loss,all plants sustained WL at levels that were high enough to maintain transpiration throughout the growing season.In A.sparsifolia,stomatal resistance(rs;related to leaf area or leaf mass)was most closely correlated with kSL;whereas in P.euphratica,~70%of the variation in rs was explained by Dw.In T.ramosissima,leaf area-related rs was significantly correlated with WL and kSL.The regulation mechanisms are in accordance with the growth patterns and the occurrence of the species in relation to their distance to the ground water.Frank M.Thomas Andrea Foetzki Dirk Gries Helge Bruelheide Xiangyi Li Fanjiang Zeng Ximing Zhang 2008Journal of Plant Ecology2008,1,4:13
3First dark matter search results from the PandaX-Ⅰ experiment显示文摘We report on the first dark-matter(DM)search results from PandaX-I,a low threshold dual-phase xenon experiment operating at the China JinPing Underground Laboratory.In the 37-kg liquid xenon target with 17.4 live-days of exposure,no DM particle candidate event was found.This result sets a stringent limit for low-mass DM particles and disfavors the interpretation of previously-reported positive experimental results.The minimum upper limit,3.7×10-44cm2,for the spin-independent isoscalar DM-particle-nucleon scattering cross section is obtained at a DM-particle mass of 49 GeV/c2at 90%confidence level.XIAO MengJiao XIAO Xiang ZHAO Li CAO XiGuang CHEN Xun CHEN YunHua CUI XiangYi FANG DeQing FU ChangBo GIBONI Karl L. 6Wireless whispering-gallery-mode sensor for thermal sensing and aerial mapping显示文摘The Internet of Things(IoT)1,2 employs a large number of spatially distributed wireless sensors to monitor physical environments,e.g.,temperature,humidity,and air pressure,and has many applications,including environmental monitoring3,health care monitoring4,smart cities5,and precision agriculture.A wireless sensor can collect,analyze,and transmit measurements of its environment1,2.Currently,wireless sensors used in the IoT are predominately based on electronic devices that may suffer from electromagnetic interference in many circumstances.Being immune to the electromagnetic interference,optical sensors provide a significant advantage in harsh environments6.Furthermore,by introducing optical resonance to enhance light–matter interactions,optical sensors based on resonators exhibit small footprints,extreme sensitivity,and versatile functionalities7,8,which can significantly enhance the capability and flexibility of wireless sensors.Here we provide the first demonstration of a wireless photonic sensor node based on a whisperinggallery-mode(WGM)optical resonator,in which light propagates along the circular rim of such a structure like a sphere,a disk,or a toroid by continuous total internal reflection.The sensor node is controlled via a customized iOS app.Its performance was studied in two practical scenarios:(1)real-time measurement of the air temperature over 12 h and(2)aerial mapping of the temperature distribution using a sensor node mounted on an unmanned drone.Our work demonstrates the capability of WGM optical sensors in practical applications and may pave the way for the large-scale deployment of WGM sensors in the IoT.Xiangyi Xu Weijian Chen Guangming Zhao Yihang Li Chenyang Lu Lan Yang 2018Light(Science & Applications)2018,7,1:8

8Dark matter direct search sensitivity of the PandaX-4T experiment显示文摘The Panda X-4T experiment, a 4-ton scale dark matter direct detection experiment, is being planned at the China Jinping Underground Laboratory. In this paper we present a simulation study of the expected background in this experiment. In a 2.8-ton fiducial mass and the signal region between 1-10 keV electron equivalent energy, the total electron recoil background is found to be 4.9 × 10^(-5) kg^(-1) d^(-1) keV^(-1). The nuclear recoil background in the same region is 2.8 × 10^(-7) kg^(-1) d^(-1) keV^(-1). 11N-doped carbon quantum dots as fluorescent probes for highly selective and sensitive detection of Fe^3+ ions显示文摘To investigate the effect of nitrogen on the photoluminescence properties of carbon quantum dots (CO Ds), N-doped carbon quantum dots (N-CQDs)were synthesized by one-step hydrothermal treatment using biomass tar as the carbon precursor.As an inevitable organic pollutant,the unsaturated bonds in biomass tar,such as carboxylic acids,aldehydes,and aromatics,are favorable for formation of the graphitic carbon lattice.The obtained N-CQDs are spherical with an average particle size of 2.64nm and the crystal lattice spacing is 0.25nm,corresponding to the (100)facet of graphitic carbon.The N-CQDs emit bright blue photoluminescence under 365nm ultraviolet light,and they have excellent water solubility and stability with a high quantum yield of 26.1%.Coordination between the functional groups on the N-CQD surface and Fe^3+ ions is promoted because of the improved electronic properties and surface chemical reactivity caused by N atoms,leading to a significant fluorescence quenching effect of the N-CQDs in the presence of Fe^3+ions with high selectivity and sensitivity.There is a linear relationship between In (Fo/F)and the Fe^3+ concentration in the N-CQD concentration range 0.06-1400μmol/L with a detection limit of 60nmol/L, showing that the N-CQ.Ds have great potential as a fluorescent probe for Fe^3+detection.Xiangyi Deng Yali Feng Haoran Li Zhuwei Du Qing Teng Hongjun Wang 2018Particuology2018,16,6:5
12Who Is More Likely to Participate in Private Tutoring and Does It Work?:Evidence from PISA(2015)显示文摘Purpose-In recent years,private tutoring has become increasingly prevalent in China and has become both a dominant way for students to learn after school and a major component of family educational expenditure.This paper aims to analyze the factors that affect Chinese students’participation in private tutoring and the effectiveness of private tutoring.Design/Approach/Methods-We use data from the Programme for International Student Assessment(PISA)2015 of China's Mainland area and focus specifically on science-related private tutoring.Multilevel logistic model and hierarchical linear model based on coarsened exact matching(CEM)are used to conduct the investigations.Findings-Empirical results show that individual level factors including student’s interest in science,educational expectations,and school-level factors such as school autonomy,science-related learning resources and school size pose a significant influence on the likelihood of participation in private tutoring.Moreover,science-related private tutoring has not significantly improved the overall scientific literacy scores of students.In addition,private tutoring has widened the performance gap among students from different socioeconomic backgrounds,with students from socioeconomically advantaged family experiencing more significant gains from tutoring.Originality/Value-These findings suggest that providing free high-quality tutoring to students from disadvantaged families might be an effective way of promoting educational equity.Xiangyi Liao Xiaoting Huang 2018ECNU Review of Education2018,1,3:5
13Urban flood inundation and damage assessment based on numerical simulations of design rainstorms with different characteristics显示文摘In the context of global climate change and urbanization,urban flooding is an important type of natural disaster that affects urban development,especially in China,which is experiencing rapid urbanization.In the past 10 years,urban flooding events have caused huge disaster losses in Chinese cities.This has resulted in significant negative effects on the urban infrastructure,socioeconomic systems,and urban residents,thus causing widespread concern.Studies have confirmed the change in extreme rainstorms is due to the changing environments in many cities globally.Conducting studies on the impact of these rainstorms with different characteristics for urban flooding is valuable for coping with unfavorable situations.In addition,numerical simulations provide an economical and viable means to perform these studies.This paper presents a numerical model of Xiamen Island in China.Simulations were conducted for 12 design rainstorm events with different return periods,rain patterns,and durations.The results indicate that,in the case of an equal rainfall amount,the rainfall intensity is the key factor that affects the inundated area,depth,and damages.However,the rainfall intensity is not the only determining factor;the rainfall pattern also affects the inundations.In regard to the rainfall pattern,a higher rainfall peak coefficient usually leads to severe urban inundation and damage.As a result,the lag time would be shorter,which may further exacerbate the impact of urban flood disasters.The results of this study provide insights into managing flood risks,developing urban flood prevention strategies,and designing flood prevention measures.MEI Chao LIU JiaHong WANG Hao LI ZeJin YANG ZhiYong SHAO WeiWei DING XiangYi WENG BaiSha YU YingDong YAN DianYi 2020Science China(Technological Sciences)2020,63,11:5

15Industrial Heritage Valorisation and Creative Industry Proliferation in Shanghai's Urban Regeneration显示文摘While industrial manufacturing is giving way to the creative economy in the 21^(st) century,Shanghai-similar to many major cities around the world-is keen to bolster a stronger economy and increase its competitive­ness by encouraging the development of cultural and creative industries.Over the past decade,the Shanghai munic­ipal government has made a concerted effort to exploit the heritage assets of the city’s industrial past to reform its economic structure.There has been a deliberate attempt to establish a stronger correlation between industrial herit­age conservation and creative industry cluster development.The aim of this research is to investigate the process of converting former industrial sites into loci of creativity.In doing so,we can determine the main actors,how different stakeholder groups came into play and the evolution of the subtle interplay between the designation of heritage architecture and that of creative industry cluster.Drawing on qualitative research methods,this paper presents a detailed analysis of three case studies in Shanghai:M50 Creative Park,1933 Shanghai and the Cool Docks.The results reveal the changing positions of three major stakeholder groups.Whereas the private sector and the general public have developed increasing interests in the embedded economic and cultural values of the former industrial struc­tures,local government has consciously reduced its presence and influence in valorising industrial heritage.Thus,the growing public awareness of cultural heritage protection and the increasing interest in the economic contribu­tion of cultural and creative industries are intrinsic to Shanghai’s reindustrialisation in the 21^(st) century.Yi-Wen Wanga Xiangyi Wang 2018Built Heritage2018,2,2:3
16Magnetic characteristics and their paleoclimatic significance of Fengzhou loess in the Qinling Mountains of China显示文摘The Fengzhou loess section is very typical in the Qinling Mountains. The section, about 82 m thick and underlain by the Neogene red clay, consists of 33 layers of loess and 33 layers of paleosol. The section covers Brunhes normal polarity zone and Matuyama reversed polarity zone, and the B/M boundary is located in the middle of L\-8. Matuyama reversed polarity zone records Jaramillo, Olduvai and Reunion normal polarity subchrons. The boundary between Matuyama reversed polarity zone and Gauss normal polarity zone (M/Ga) appears in the lithological boundary between loess and the Neogene red clay. Loess accumulation in Fengzhou started before 2.48 Ma. The magnetic susceptibility curve indicates 33 cold_dry and humid_warm cycles of paleoclimatic variation in the Qinling Mountains during the last 2.48 Ma. 18Fractional Fourier domain analysis of cyclic multirate signal processing显示文摘The cyclic filter banks, which are used widely in the image subband coding, refer to signal processing on the finite field. This study investigates the fractional Fourier domain (FRFD) analysis of cyclic multirate systems based on the fractional circular convolution and chirp period. The proposed theorems include the fractional Fourier domain analysis of cyclic decimation and cyclic interpolation, the noble identities of cyclic decimation and cyclic interpolation in the FRFD, the polyphase represen-tation of cyclic signal in the FRFD, and the perfect reconstruction condition for the cyclic filter banks in the FRFD. Furthermore, this paper proposes the design methods for perfect reconstruction cyclic filter bank and cyclic filter bank with chirp modulation in the FRFD. The proposed theorems extend the multirate signal processing in the FRFD, which also advance the applications of the theorems of filter bank in the FRFD on the finite signal field, such as digital image processing.
