| 1 | INTERFACE REACTION IN MAGNETIC MULTILAYERS显示文摘Ta/NiO/NiFe/Ta multilayers were prepared by rf reactive and dc magnetron sputtering. The exchange coupling field (Hex) between NiO and NiFe reached 120Oe. The composition and chemical states at the interface region of NiO/NiFe were studied using the x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and peak decomposition technique. The results show that there are two thermodynamically favorable reactions at NiO/NiFe interface: NiO+Fe=Ni+FeO and 3NiO+2Fe = 3Ni+Fe2O3. The thickness of the chemical reaction as estimated by angle-resolved XPS was about 1-1.5nm. These interface reaction products are magnetic defects, and we believe that the Hex and the coercivity (Hc) of NiO/NiFe are affected by these defects. Moreover, the results also show that there is an 'intermixing layer' at the Ta/NiO (and NiO/Ta) interface due to a thermodynamically favorable reaction: 2Ta+5NiO=5Ni+ Ta2O5. | 2 | ION HEATING PROCESS DURING PLASMA IMMERSION ION IMPLANTATION显示文摘The research on plasma immersion ion implantation has been conducted for a little over ten years. Much is needed to investigate including processing technlogy, plasma sheath dynamics, interaction of plasma and surface, etc. Of the processing methods elavated temperature technique is usually used in PIII to produce a thick modified layer by means of the thermal diffusion. Meanwhile plasma ion heating is more recently developed by Ronghua Wei et al[1]. Therefore the temeperature is a critical parameter in plasma ion processing. | 7 | EFFECTS OF DIFFERENT FUNCTIONAL GROUP-CONTAINING ORGANICS ON MORPHOLOGY-CONTROLLED SYNTHESIS OF SILVER NANOPARTICLES AT ROOM TEMPERATURE显示文摘Silver nanoparticles with average particles sizes ranging from 2 to 131nm were manipulatively synthesized starting from silver nitrate using different functional group-containing organic modifiers at room temperature. The effects of the organic modifiers on the morphology of the resulting silver nanoparticles were strongly dependent on the intrinsic properties of the functional groups and the reducibility of the reductant. Numerous ether bonds (-O-) present in polyethylene glycol and Tween-80 were beneficial to the formation of silver nanoparticles with particle sizes of several nanometers in a narrow size distribution in both weak and strong reducing environments. Cetyltrimethylammonium bromide induced the formation of nanosized silver triangle plates in a weak reducing environment. The crystal growth of the silver nanoparticles with particle sizes of more than 10nm was postulated through an adhesion process of small-sized particles followed by a subsequent coalescence process under the present reaction conditions. | A.L. | 9 | Influence of Re on the Properties of a NiCoCrAlY Coating Alloy显示文摘MCrAlY can serve as stand-alone overlay coatings or bond coats in thermal barrier coating systems, and its properties play a vital role in determining the performance of these coating systems. In order to further understand the behavior of MCrAlY coatings, several NiCoCrAlY model alloys with different levels of Re (0.3 wt%, 6 wt%, and 9 wt%) were investigated. Microstructural observation showed the addition of Re promoted the precipitation of Cr-rich phases, such as α-Cr and σ. The presence of α-Cr lowered the coecient of thermal expansion (CTE) of the coating alloys, which could reduce the CTE mismatch at the scale-metal interface. The solid solution strengthening effect of Re is responsible for an increase in Rockwell hardness of the coating alloys. But the isothermal oxidation resistance at 1100oC was deteriorated due to the precipitation of brittle α-Cr phase, a phase of inferior oxidation resistance compared with β-NiAl and γ-Ni. | J.J. The reactivity and newly formed phases dur-ing liquid sintering process have been analyzed by combing Thermochemical data basecalculation and XRD characterization. The results show that some of constituents infly ash have reacted with liquid aluminum so that the elemental Si, Fe, Ti as well assome amount of intermetallic compounds occur. The properties of aluminum/fly ashcomposites have been improved. With the fraction of fly ash increase, the compositedensity decreases; the hardness and the modulus of the composite increases, and thecomposite wear resistance are significantly increased. | 11 | EFFECTS OF MICROSTRVCTURE ON FATIGUE CRACK GROWTH BEHMIOR IN Ni-BASE SUPERALLOY GH586显示文摘Threshold stress values, muging from ~8 to 16MPa·m1/2 can be obtained in a Ni-base alloy GH586 by varying the microstructure through heat treatments. The threshold and low crack growth rate behaviors at room temperature, with varying groin size and γ’-distribution, have been investigated. The results indicate that grain size is an important microstructurol parameter that affects fatigue crack growth threshold and propagation behaviors, as the values of △Kth increase with increasing grain size, but the γ’ -distribution also has important effect. Analyses show that the effects of groin size on threshold and low crack-growth rate behavior result from heterogeneous deformation and roughness-induced crack closure due to crystallographic slipping and cracking in coarse microstructure. The higher △Kth and lower fatigue crack growth rate with increasing amounts of fine γ’ phases are closely related to less damage accumulation level in deformation zone of crack-tip resulted from heterogeneous deformation due to dislocations’ shearing γ’ precipitates. | S.S. | 15 | EFFECT OF ANNEALING ON DAMPING CAPACITIES OF AS-CAST ZA27 ALLOY显示文摘ZA27 alloy was prepared by casting with permanent mold and then annealed at 250℃ for 1-4h. The damping capacity of the alloy was measured using a testing apparatus based on the cantilever beam technique. It was found that the as-cast ZA27 alloy possesses high damping capacity with the value of 1.3 × 10-3 at 320Hz. After annealed at 250℃ for 1h, the damping capacity decreases to 1.1 × 10-3 and then remains constant even when the annealing time is increased to 4h. The microstructure of the as-cast ZA27 alloy consists of large dendrites of Al-rich primary (?)-phases, eutectoid (?) and nonequilibrium eutectic phases (?). After annealing at 250℃ for 1h, the (?)phase disappears due to dissolution into the matrix, and the spacing between the flakes of eutectoid increases. The further increase in the annealing time has little effect on the spacing. The damping mechanism of the alloy was discussed considering the thermoelastic damping and defect damping. The value of thermoelastic damping accounts only for 7%-8% in the overall damping in cantilever beam damping measurements and the damping capacity of the ZA27 alloy came mainly from defect damping. | Z.M. Within the achieved undercooling range e of 22 to 280K, the solidification structure undergoes three changes at 22K, 88K and 187K, respectively. With the increase of undercooling, common dendrites, the first class granular grains, nudercooled dendrites and the second class granular grains come out one after the other. Analytical results show that the granulation mechanism of the first class granular grains is owing to dendrite remelting and recrystallization, and the second is owing to dendrite break-op and recrystallization. | H.X. | 18 | Measurements of γ/γ' Lattice Misfit and γ' Volume Fraction for a Ru-containing Nickel-based Single Crystal Superalloy显示文摘A conventional X-ray diffractometer has been used to determine the γ/γ lattice misfit and γ volume fraction for a Ru-containing nickel-based single crystal superalloy at room temperature.The rocking curve was used to characterize the distribution of subgrains.The diffraction peaks obtained by ω-2θ scan were used to determine the γ/γ lattice misfit and γ volume fraction.A three peaks fitting model was proposed.The peak fitting results are in good agreement with the model.The X-ray diffraction results indicate that the nickel-based single crystal superalloy was not a perfect monocrystalline material,which is comprised of many subgrains;and each subgrain also consists of large numbers of mosaic structures.In addition,two anomalous reflection phenomena were found during the experiment and discussed with respect to their occurrence and impact on the measurement.The experimental results show that the γ/γ lattice misfit and γ volume fraction will be various at the different regions of its dendritic microstructure.The average γ/γ lattice misfit and γ volume fraction of the experimental alloy are approximately-0.2% and 70%,respectively.Furthermore,the γ volume fraction calculated by atom microprobe(AP) data is also basically consistent with the experimental results. | X.P.
