1Cancer models in preclinical research:A chronicle review of advancement in effective cancer research显示文摘Cancer is a major stress for public well-being and is the most dreadful disease.The models used in the discovery of cancer treatment are continuously changing and extending toward advanced preclinical studies.Cancer models are either naturally existing or artificially prepared experimental systems that show similar features with human tumors though the heterogeneous nature of the tumor is very familiar.The choice of the most fitting model to best reflect the given tumor system is one of the real difficulties for cancer examination.Therefore,vast studies have been conducted on the cancer models for developing a better understanding of cancer invasion,progression,and early detection.These models give an insight into cancer etiology,molecular basis,host tumor interaction,the role of microenvironment,and tumor heterogeneity in tumor metastasis.These models are also used to predict novel can-cer markers,targeted therapies,and are extremely helpful in drug development.In this review,the potential of cancer models to be used as a platform for drug screening and therapeutic discoveries are highlighted.Although none of the cancer models is regarded as ideal because each is associated with essential caveats that restraint its application yet by bridging the gap between preliminary cancer research and transla-tional medicine.However,they promise a brighter future for cancer treatment.Humna Sajjad Saiqa Imtiaz Tayyaba Noor Yusra Hasan Siddiqui Anila Sajjad Muhammad Zia 2021Animal Models and Experimental Medicine2021,4,2:5
2Multi-Gigabit CO-OFDM System over SMF and MMF Links for 5G URLLC Backhaul Network显示文摘The 5G cellular network aims at providing three major services:Massive machine-type communication(mMTC),ultra-reliable low-latency communications(URLLC),and enhanced-mobile-broadband(eMBB).Among these services,the URLLC and eMBB require strict end-to-end latency of 1 ms while maintaining 99.999%reliability,and availability of extremely high data rates for the users,respectively.One of the critical challenges in meeting these requirements is to upgrade the existing optical fiber backhaul network interconnecting the base stations with a multigigabit capacity,low latency and very high reliability system.To address this issue,we have numerically analyzed 100 Gbit/s coherent optical orthogonal frequency division multiplexing(CO-OFDM)transmission performance over 400 km single-mode fiber(SMF)and 100 km of multi-mode fiber(MMF)links.The system is simulated over optically repeated and non-repeated SMF and MMF links.Coherent transmission is used,and the system is analyzed in a linear and non-linear regime.The system performance is quantified by bit error ratio(BER).Spectrally efficient and optimal transmission performance is achieved for 400 km SMF and 100 km MMF link.The results designate thatMMF links can be employed beyond short reach applications by using them in the existing SMF infrastructure for long haul transmission.In particular,the proposed CO-OFDM system can be efficiently employed in 5G backhaul network.The multi-gigabit capacity and lower BER of the proposed system makes it a suitable candidate especially for the eMBB and URLLC requirements for 5G backhaul network.Amir Haider MuhibUr Rahman Tayyaba Khan Muhammad Tabish Niaz Hyung Seok Kim 2021Computers, Materials & Continua2021,,5:2
3Zinc Application Affects Tissue Zinc Concentration and Seed Yield of Pea(Pisum sativum L.)显示文摘A 2-year field experiment was conducted to assess the effect of applied zinc(Zn) on the seed yield of pea(Pisum sativum L.) and to determine the internal Zn requirement of pea with emphasis on the seed and leaves as index tissues.The experiment was carried out at two different locations(Talagang,Chakwal district and National Agricultural Research Centre(NARC),Islamabad) in the Potohar Plateau,Pakistan by growing three pea cultivars(Green feast,Climax,and Meteor).The soils were fertilized with 0,2,4,8,and 16 kg Zn ha^(-1) along with recommended basal fertilization of nitrogen(N),phosphorus(P),potassium(K),and boron(B).Zinc application increased seed yield significantly for all the three cultivars.Maximum increase in the pea seed yield(2-year mean) was21%and 15%for Green feast,28%and 21%for Climax,and 34%and 26%for Meteor at Talagang and NARC,respectively.In all cultivars,Zn concentrations in leaves and seed increased to varying extents as a result of Zn application.Fertiliser Zn requirement for near-maximum seed yield varied from 3.2 to 5.3 kg ha^(-1) for different cultivars.Zinc concentrations of leaves and seeds appeared to be a good indicator of soil Zn availability.The critical Zn concentration range sufficient for 95%maximum yield(internal Zn requirement)was 42-53 mg kg^(-1) in the pea leaves and 45-60 mg kg^(-1) in the seeds of the three pea cultivars studied.Ejaz RAFIQUE Munazza YOUSRA Muhammad MAHMOOD-UL-HASSAN Sair SARWAR Tauseef TABASSAM Tayyaba K.CHOUDHARY 2015Pedosphere2015,25,2:2
4Transmit Power Optimization for Relay-Aided Multi-Carrier D2D Communication显示文摘In this paper,we consider the power optimization problem in Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing(OFDM)-based relay-enhanced device-to-device(D2D) communication.In a single cell transmission scenario,dualhop communication is assumed in which each D2D user re-uses the spectrum of just one Cellular User(CU).In this work,we formulate a joint optimization scheme under a Decode-and-Forward(DF) relaying protocol to maximize the sum throughput of D2D and cellular networks via power allocation over different sub-carriers.The problem is thus transformed into a standard convex optimization,subject to individual power constraints at different transmitting nodes.We exploit the duality theory to decompose the problem into several sub-problems and use Karush–Kuhn–Tucker(KKT) conditions to solve each sub-problem.We provide simulation results to validate the performance of our proposed scheme.Muhammad Waqas Guftaar Ahmad Sardar Sidhu Tayyaba Jabeen Muhammad Afaq Ahmad Muhammad Awais Javed 2018Tsinghua Science and Technology2018,23,1:2

6Effect of pollution on DNA damage and essential fatty acid profile in Cirrhinus mrigala from River Chenab显示文摘The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of anthropogenic pollution on DNA damage and the fatty acid profile of the bottom dweller fish( Cirrhinus mrigala), collected from the River Chenab, in order to assess the effect of the toxicants on the quality of the fish meat. The levels of Cd, Hg, Cu, Mn, Zn, Pb, Cr and Sn and of phenols from this river were significantly higher than the permissible limits set by the USEPA. Comet assays showed DNA damage in Cirrhinus mrigala collected from three different sampling sites in the polluted area of the river. Significant differences were observed for DNA damage through comet assay in fish collected from polluted compared to control sites. No significant differences were observed for DNA damage between farmed and fish collected from upstream. The micronucleus assay showed similar trends. Fish from the highly polluted sites showed less number of fatty acids and more saturated fatty acids in their meat compared to fish from less polluted areas. Several fatty acids were missing in fish with higher levels of DNA in comet tail and micronucleus induction. Long-chain polyunsaturated fatty acids, eicosapentaenoic acid(20:5n-3) was found missing in the fish from polluted environment while it was found in considerable amount in farmed fish 7.8±0.4%. 9Is tumor cell specificity distinct from tumor selectivity in vivo?A quantitative NIR molecular imaging analysis of nanoliposome targeting显示文摘The significance and ability for receptor targeted nanoliposomes(tNLs)to bind to their molecular targets in solid tumors in vivo has been questioned,particularly as the efficiency of their tumor accumulation and selectivity is not always predictive of their efficacy or molecular specificity.This study presents,for the first time,in situ near-infrared(NIR)molecular imaging-based quantitation of the in vivo specificity of tNLs for their target receptors,as opposed to tumor selectivity,which includes influences of enhanced tumor permeability and retention.Results show that neither tumor delivery nor selectivity(tumor-to-normal ratio)of cetuximab and IRDye conjugated tNLs correlate with epidermal growth factor receptor(EGFR)expression in U251,U87,and 9L tumors,and in fact underrepresent their imaging-derived molecular specificity by up to 94.2%.Conversely,their in vivo specificity,which we quantify as the concentration of tNL-reported tumor EGFR provided by NIR molecular imaging,correlates positively with EGFR expression levels in vitro and ex vivo(Pearson’s r=0.92 and 0.96,respectively).This study provides a unique opportunity to address the problematic disconnect between tNL synthesis and in vivo specificity.The findings encourage their continued adoption as platforms for precision medicine,and facilitates intelligent synthesis and patient customization in order to improve safety profiles and therapeutic outcomes.Girgis Obaid Kimberley Samkoe Kenneth Tichauer Shazia Bano Yeonjae Park Zachary Silber Sassan Hodge Susan Callaghan Mina Guirguis Srivalleesha Mallidi Brian Pogue Tayyaba Hasan 2021Nano Research2021,14,5:1

12A Quantitative Security Metric Model for Security Controls:Secure Virtual Machine Migration Protocol as Target of Assessment显示文摘Quantitative security metrics are desirable for measuring the performance of information security controls. Security metrics help to make functional and business decisions for improving the performance and cost of the security controls. However, defining enterprise-level security metrics has already been listed as one of the hard problems in the Info Sec Research Council's hard problems list. Almost all the efforts in defining absolute security metrics for the enterprise security have not been proved fruitful. At the same time, with the maturity of the security industry, there has been a continuous emphasis from the regulatory bodies on establishing measurable security metrics. This paper addresses this need and proposes a relative security metric model that derives three quantitative security metrics named Attack Resiliency Measure(ARM), Performance Improvement Factor(PIF), and Cost/Benefit Measure(CBM) for measuring the performance of the security controls. For the effectiveness evaluation of the proposed security metrics, we took the secure virtual machine(VM) migration protocol as the target of assessment. The virtual-ization technologies are rapidly changing the landscape of the computing world. Devising security metrics for virtualized environment is even more challenging. As secure virtual machine migration is an evolving area and no standard protocol is available specifically for secure VM migration. 13Recent progress in flexible Zn-ion hybrid supercapacitors: Fundamentals, fabrication designs, and applications显示文摘One of the most exciting new developments in energy storage technology is flexible Zn-ion hybrid supercapacitors(f-ZIHSCs),which combine the high energy of Zn-ion batteries with high-power supercapacitors to satisfy the needs of portable flexible electronics.However,the development of f-ZHSCs is still in its infancy,and there are numerous barriers to overcome before they can be widely implemented for practical applications.This review gives an up-to-date description of recent achievements and underlying concepts in energy storage mechanisms of f-ZIHSCs and emphasizes the critical role of cathode,anode,and electrolyte materials systems in speeding the prosperity of f-ZIHSCs.The innovative nanostructured-based cathode materials for f-ZIHSCs include carbon(e.g.,porous carbon,heteroatom-doped carbon,biomass-derived porous carbon,graphene,etc.),metal-oxides,MXenes,and metal/covalentorganic frameworks,and other materials(e.g.,activated carbon,phosphorene,etc.)are mainly focused.Afterward,the latest developments in flexible anode and electrolyte frameworks and impacts of electrolyte compositions on the electrochemical properties of f-ZIHSC are elaborated.Subsequently,the advancements based on fabrication designs,including quasi-solid-state,micro,fiber-shaped,and all climate-changed f-ZIHSCs,are discussed in detail.Lastly,a summary of current challenges and recommendations for the future progress of advanced f-ZIHSC are addressed.This review article is anticipated to further understand the viable strategies and achievable approaches for assembling high-performance f-ZIHSCs and boost the technical revolutions on cathode,anode,and electrolytes for f-ZIHSC devices.Muhammad Sufyan Javed Sumreen Asim Tayyaba Najam Muhammad Khalid Iftikhar Hussain Awais Ahmad Mohammed A.Assiri Weihua Han 2023Carbon Energy2023,5,1:1

15Highly active electrocatalysis of hydrogen evolution reaction in alkaline medium by Ni–P alloy: A capacitance-activity relationship显示文摘Different weights of amorphous Ni–P alloy with same P contents were electrodeposited on nickel plate with same area used as cathode for hydrogen evolution reaction(HER). The amorphous Ni–P alloy coatings were characterized for their surface morphology and composition through Scanning electron microscopy(SEM) and Energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy(EDS) techniques, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS) and X-ray diffraction(XRD) analysis. The electrocatalytic activity for HER in alkaline medium is determined by linear scan voltammetry(LSV) and a relationship between HER activity and capacitance is established. The capacitance varies with the loading of the Ni–P on Ni plate but the activity for HER is directly proportional to the capacitance in alkaline and vice versa. 3#Ni–P/Ni containing 3.85 mg Ni–P alloy with highest capacitance performs the best catalytic activity. 19Zn单原子微环境结构的调控:促进氧还原反应的ZnN_(4)P/C活性位点显示文摘日益严峻的能源危机及环境污染问题促使人们研发清洁能源转换和存储技术.燃料电池和金属-空气电池因功率密度高、操作方便而成为备受关注的能量转换器件.氧还原反应(ORR)是燃料电池和金属-空气电池中必不可少的关键反应.然而,由于氧还原反应的动力学缓慢,极大地限制了反应的快速进行.Pt基电催化剂虽然表现出良好的ORR活性,但稀缺性和稳定性差的缺点制约了其在燃料电池和金属空气电池领域的大规模商业化应用.单原子催化剂(SACs)由于具有丰富的活性位点和几乎100%的金属利用率而成为电催化研究的热点.SACs的几何构型和电子构型很大程度取决于其独特的原子微环境调制(MEM),包括催化中心的局部配位环境和电子状态.因此,SACs的活性、选择性和稳定性与它们的MEM直接相关.由于传统催化剂缺乏结构的精确解析和可定制性,理解和调控催化位点的MEM对多相催化反应性能的影响仍然具有挑战性和局限性.本文通过两步热解法可控制备N,P双掺杂碳基底负载Zn单原子催化剂(Zn-N_(4)P/C),实现对Zn单原子微环境的原子级调控.实验和理论计算研究表明,N/P配位对Zn单原子催化剂电子结构具有协同调控的作用,从而改变Zn周围的局部电荷分布,降低ORR基元反应的势垒.XPS结果显示,Zn-N_(4)P/C中N和P同时存在,且其Zn的结合能相对ZnN_(4)/C向高结合能方向偏移,表明引入的P与相邻的ZnN_(4)间发生电荷转移,影响了Zn单原子的电子结构.XAS结果表明,ZnN_(4)P/C的结构是由位于第二壳层的P与Zn-N_(4)相连构成,且由于P的电负性更强,导致相邻Zn-N的电子转移到N-P键,Zn-N键的键长变长,Zn的价态显著升高.Zn的K边小波转换结果表明,ZnN_(4)P/C催化剂中Zn原子的最大等高强度中心相对于ZnPc发生了偏移,进一步表明P的引入对Zn的电子结构产生了影响.优化后的ZnN_(4)P/C催化剂在0.1 mol·L^(-1)KOH电解质中的ORR半波电位为0.861 V,比单金属ZnN_(4)/C和Pt/C(20%)更高.此外,将该催化剂用于锌空电池的阴极ORR催化剂,所得电池的最大峰值功率密度(249.6mWcm^(-2))、比电容(779 mAhg^(-1))均优于贵金属Pt/C催化剂,且该电池能够在10 mAcm^(-2)条件下可稳定充放电循环150 h.DFT计算结果表明,ORR活性大幅提高可归因于P的掺杂使电荷在N和Zn周围富集,从而优化了活性中心与O2结合能,并加快了ORR反应的电子转移速度.Syed Shoaib Ahmad Shah Tayyaba Najam 杨姣 Muhammad Sufyan Javed 彭立山 魏子栋 2022Chinese Journal of Catalysis2022,43,8:1
