2Modeling study of regional severe hazes over mid-eastern China in January 2013 and its implications on pollution prevention and control显示文摘The Nested Air Quality Prediction Model System(NAQPMS)was used to investigate the temporal and spatial variations of PM2.5over tropospheric central eastern China in January 2013.The impact of regional transport and its implications on pollution prevention and control were also examined.Comparison between simulated and observed PM2.5showed NAQPMS was able to reproduce the evolution of PM2.5during heavy haze episodes.The results indicated that regional transport of PM2.5played an important role in regional haze episodes in the city cluster including Hebei,Beijing and Tianjin(HBT).The cross-city clusters transport outside HBT and transport among cities inside HBT contributed 20%–35%and 26%–35%of PM2.5as compared with local emission,in HBT respectively.To meet the Air Quality Standards for Grade II,90%,90%and65%of emissions would have to be cut down in Hebei,Tianjin and Beijing,if non-control strategy was taken in the surrounding city clusters of HBT.This implicated that control of emissions in one city cluster is not sufficient to reduce regional haze events,and joint efforts among city clusters are essential.Besides regional transports,two-way feedback between boundary-layer evolution and PM2.5also significantly contributed to the formation of heavy hazes,which contributed 30%of monthly average PM2.5concentration in HBT.WANG ZiFa LI Jie WANG Zhe YANG WenYi TANG Xiao GE BaoZhu YAN PinZhong ZHU LiLi CHEN XueShun CHEN HuanSheng WAND Wei LI JianJun LIU Bing WANG XiaoYan WAND Wei ZHAO YiLin LU Ning SU DeBin 2014Science China Earth Sciences2014,57,1:106
3Mechanism for the formation of the January 2013 heavy haze pollution episode over central and eastern China显示文摘In January 2013,a long-lasting episode of severe haze occurred in central and eastern China,and it attracted attention from all sectors of society.The process and evolution of haze pollution episodes were observed by the'Forming Mechanism and Control Strategies of Haze in China'group using an intensive aerosol and trace gases campaign that simultaneously obtained data at 11 ground-based observing sites in the CARE-China network.The characteristics and formation mechanism of haze pollution episodes were discussed.Five haze pollution episodes were identified in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei(Jing-Jin-Ji)area;the two most severe episodes occurred during 9–15 January and 25–31 January.During these two haze pollution episodes,the maximum hourly PM2.5mass concentrations in Beijing were 680 and 530μg m 3,respectively.The process and evolution of haze pollution episodes in other major cities in the Jing-Jin-Ji area,such as Shijiazhuang and Tianjin were almost the same as those observed in Beijing.The external cause of the severe haze episodes was the unusual atmospheric circulation,the depression of strong cold air activities and the very unfavorable dispersion due to geographical and meteorological conditions.However,the internal cause was the quick secondary transformation of primary gaseous pollutants to secondary aerosols,which contributed to the'explosive growth'and'sustained growth'of PM2.5.Particularly,the abnormally high amount of nitric oxide(NOx)in the haze episodes,produced by fossil fuel combustion and vehicle emissions,played a direct or indirect role in the quick secondary transformation of coal-burning sulphur dioxide(SO2)to sulphate aerosols.Furthermore,gaseous pollutants were transformed into secondary aerosols through heterogeneous reactions on the surface of fine particles,which can change the particle’s size and chemical composition.Consequently,the proportion of secondary inorganic ions,such as sulphate and nitrate,gradually increased,which enhances particle hygroscopicity and thereby accelerating formation of the haze pollution.WANG YueSi YAO Li WANG LiLi LIU ZiRui JI DongSheng TANG GuiQian ZHANG JunKe SUN Yang HU Bo XIN JinYuan 2014Science China Earth Sciences2014,57,1:189
4A complete sequence and comparative analysis of a SARS-associated virus(Isolate BJ01)显示文摘The genome sequence of the Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS)-associated virus provides essential information for the identification of pathogen(s), exploration of etiology and evolution, interpretation of transmission and pathogenesis, development of diagnostics, prevention by future vaccination, and treatment by developing new drugs. We report the complete genome sequence and comparative analysis of an isolate (BJ01) of the coronavirus that has been recognized as a pathogen for SARS. The genome is 29725 nt in size and has 11 ORFs (Open Reading Frames). It is composed of a stable region encoding an RNA-dependent RNA polymerase (composed of 2 ORFs) and a variable region representing 4 CDSs (coding sequences) for viral structural genes (the S, E, M, N proteins) and 5 PUPs (putative uncharacterized proteins). Its gene order is identical to that of other known coronaviruses. The sequence alignment with all known RNA viruses places this virus as a member in the family of Coronaviridae. Thirty putative substitutions have been identified by comparative analysis of the 5 SARS- associated virus genome sequences in GenBank. Fifteen of them lead to possible amino acid changes (non-synonymous mutations) in the proteins. Three amino acid changes, with predicted alteration of physical and chemical features, have been detected in the S protein that is postulated to beinvolved in the immunoreactions between the virus and its host. Two amino acid changes have been detected in the Mprotein, which could be related to viral envelope formation. Phylogenetic analysis suggests the possibility of non-human origin of the SARS-associated viruses but provides noevidence that they are man-made. 8Can Chinese Medicine Be Used for Prevention of Corona Virus Disease 2019 (COVID-19)? A Review of Historical Classics, Research Evidence and Current Prevention Programs显示文摘Objective:Since December 2019,an outbreak of corona virus disease 2019(COVID-19)occurred in Wuhan,and rapidly spread to almost all parts of China.This was followed by prevention programs recommending Chinese medicine(CM)for the prevention.In order to provide evidenee for CM recommendations,we reviewed ancient classics and human studies.Methods:Historical records on prevention and treatment of infections in CM classics,clinical evidence of CM on the prevention of severe acute respiratory syndrome(SARS)and H1N1 in flue nza,and CM preve ntion programs issued by health authorities in China since the COVID-19 outbreak were retrieved from differe nt databases and websites till 12 February,2020.Research evide nee in eluded data from clinical trials,cohort or other population studies using CM for preventing contagious respiratory virus diseases.Results:The use of CM to prevent epidemics of infectious diseases was traced back to ancient Chinese practice cited in Huangdi's Internal Classic(Huang Di Nei Jing)where preventive effects were recorded.There were 3 studies using CM for prevention of SARS and 4 studies for H1N1 influenza.None of the participants who took CM contracted SARS in the 3 studies.The infection rate of H1N1 in flue nza in the CM group was significantly lower than the non-CM group(relative risk 0.36,95%confidence interval 0.24-0.52;n=4).For prevention of COVID-19,23 provinces in China issued CM programs.The main principles of CM use were to tonify qi to protect from external pathoge ns,disperse wind and discharge heat,and resolve damp ness.The most frequently used herbs in eluded Radix astragali(Huangqi),Radix glycyrrhizae(Gancao),Radix saposhnikoviae(Fangfeng),Rhizoma Atractylodis Macrocephalae(Baizhu),Lonicerae Japonicae Flos(Jinyinhua),and Fructus forsythia(Lianqiao).Conclusions:Based on historical records and human evidenee of SARS and H1N1 influenza prevention,Chinese herbal formula could be an alternative approach for prevention of COVID-19 in high-risk population.Prospective,rigorous population studies are warranted to confirm the potential preventive effect of CM.LUO Hui TANG Qiao-ling SHANG Ya-xi LIANG Shi-bing YANG Ming Nicola Robinson LIU Jian-ping 2020Chinese Journal of Integrative Medicine2020,26,4:61
9Qinghu zircon:A working reference for microbeam analysis of U-Pb age and Hf and O isotopes显示文摘Zircon is the most useful mineral for studies in U-Pb geochronology and Hf and O isotope geochemistry.Matrix effect is a major problem of the microbeam techniques such as SIMS and LA-(MC)-ICPMS.Therefore,external standardization using well-characterized natural zircon standards is fundamental for accurate microbeam measurements.While the isotopic geochronology and geochemistry laboratories equipped with microbeam analytical facilities have been increasingly established in China during the past decade,applications of the isotopic microanalysis are still limited due to shortage of available standards.We report here the Qinghu zircon as a potential new working reference for microbeam analysis of zircon U-Pb age and O-Hf isotopes.This zircon was separated from the Qinghu quartz monzonite from the western Nanling Range,Southeast China.It is fairly homogeneous in U-Pb age and Hf and O isotopes in terms of large amounts of mircobeam measurements by LA-MC-ICPMS and SIMS at the scales of 20–60 m.SIMS measurements yield consistent206Pb/238U age within analytical uncertainties with that obtained by ID-TIMS.Precise determinations of O isotopes by IRMS and Hf isotopes by solution MC-ICPMS are in good agreement with the statistical mean of microbeam measurements.We recommend U-Pb age of=159.5±0.2 Ma(2SE),18O=5.4‰±0.2‰(2SD)and176Hf/177Hf=0.283002±0.000004(2SD)as the best reference values for the Qinghu zircon.LI XianHua TANG GuoQiang GONG Bing YANG YueHeng HOU KeJun HU ZhaoChu LI QiuLi LIU Yu LI WuXian 2013Chinese Science Bulletin2013,58,36:60
10Contrasting trends of PM2.5 and surface-ozone concentrations in China from 2013 to 2017显示文摘Although much attention has been paid to investigating and controlling air pollution in China,the trends of air-pollutant concentrations on a national scale have remained unclear.Here,we quantitatively investigated the variation of air pollutants in China using long-term comprehensive data sets from 2013 to 2017,during which Chinese government made major efforts to reduce anthropogenic emission in polluted regions.Our results show a significant decreasing trend in the PM2.5 concentration in heavily polluted regions of eastern China,with an annual decrease of〜7%compared with measurements in 2013.The measured decreased concentrations of SO2>NO2 and CO(a proxy for anthropogenic volatile organic compounds)could explain a large fraction of the decreased PM2.5 concentrations in different regions.As a consequence;the heavily polluted days decreased significantly in corresponding regions.Concentrations of organic aerosol;nitrate;sulfate,ammonium and chloride measured in urban Beijing revealed a remarkable reduction from 2013 to 2017;connecting the decreases in aerosol precursors with corresponding chemical components closely.However;surface-ozone concentrations showed increasing trends in most urban stations from 2013 to 2017;which indicates stronger photochemical pollution.The boundary-layer height in capital c让ies of eastern China showed no significant trends over the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei,Yangtze River Delta and Pearl River Delta regions from 2013 to 2017;which confirmed the reduction in anthropogenic emissions.Our results demonstrated that the Chinese government was successful in the reduction of particulate matter in urban areas from 2013 to 2017,although the ozone concentration has increased significantly;suggesting a more complex mechanism of improving Chinese air quality in the future.Yonghong Wang Wenkang Gao Shuai Wang Tao Song Zhengyu Gong Dongsheng Ji Lili Wang Zirui Liu Guiqian Tang Yanfeng Huo Shili Tian Jiayun Li Mingge Li Yuan Yang Biwu Chu Tuukka Petaja Veli-Matti Kerminen Hong He Jiming Hao Markku Kulmala Yuesi Wang Yuanhang Zhang 2020National Science Review2020,7,8:51

12The State of the Art of Data Science and Engineering in Structural Health Monitoring显示文摘Structural health monitoring (SHM) is a multi-discipline field that involves the automatic sensing of structural loads and response by means of a large number of sensors and instruments, followed by a diagnosis of the structural health based on the collected data. Because an SHM system implemented into a structure automatically senses, evaluates, and warns about structural conditions in real time, massive data are a significant feature of SHM. The techniques related to massive data are referred to as data science and engineering, and include acquisition techniques, transition techniques, management techniques, and processing and mining algorithms for massive data. This paper provides a brief review of the state of the art of data science and engineering in SHM as investigated by these authors, and covers the compressive sampling-based data-acquisition algorithm, the anomaly data diagnosis approach using a deep learning algorithm, crack identification approaches using computer vision techniques, and condition assessment approaches for bridges using machine learning algorithms. 13Effects of Chinese Jianpi herbs on cell apoptosis and related gene expression in human gastric cancer grafted onto nude mice显示文摘AIM: To explore the mechanism of the Sijunzi decoction and another Chinese herbal recipe (SRRS) based mainly on the Sijunzi decoction in treatment of gastric cancer.METHODS: A human gastric adenocarcinoma cell line SGC7901 grafted onto nude mouse was used as the animal model. The mice were divided into 3 groups, one control and the two representative experimental conditions. Ahimals in the two experimental groups received either Sijunzi decoction or SRRS over a 40-day period starting at 1st day after grafting. Control animals received saline on an identical schedule. Animals were killed 41 days after being grafted.The effect of therapy was assessed by two ways: (1)tumor size was periodically measured during the life of the animals; (2) tumor weight was determined by a electron balance immediately after the animals killed. For detection of apoptotic cells, apoptotic indices(AI) were examined by the terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase-mediated deoxyuddine tdphosphate fluorescence nick end labeling (TUNEL) method.Morphological alterations were observed with electron microscopy. S-P immunohistochemical method was used to detect the expression of Ki-67 in xenografts. Expression of bcl-2 and p53 was semiquantitatively detected using a reverse transcriptase-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR)technique.RESULTS: When compared with controls, tumor growth (size and weight) was significantly inhibited by treatment with the Sijunzi decoction (P<0.05) or SRRS (P<0.01). The tumor inhibitory rate in the Sijunzi decoction group was 34.33 % and SRRS group 46.53 %. AI of human gastric cancer xenografts in nude mice was significantly increased to 16.24±3.21% using TUNEL method and 11.38±6.46 % by FACScan in the Sijunzi decoction group compared with the controls (TUNEL: 2.63±1.03 %, P<0.01; FACScan: 7.15± 1.32 %, P<0.05). SRRS group was also found a significantly increased AI by using TUNEL method and flow cytometry analysis compared with the controls (TUNEL: 13.18±3.05 %,P<0.05; FACScan: 11.58±5.71% (P<0.05). Under electron microscope, cell shrinkage, nuclear chromatin condensation,formation of membrane blebs and apoptotic bodies were frequently observed in Sijunzi decoction group and SRRS group. The average labeling index (LI) for Ki-67 in SRRS group was significantly decreased to 8.43±2.22 % compared with the control group (10.37±t.91%) (P<0.05). The average labeling index for Ki-67 in sijunzi decoction group was 7.95±2.54 % which was lower than that of the control group, but showed no significance (P=0.07). The expression level of p53 mRNA was lower in both Sijunzi decoction group and SRRS group than that in control group (P<0.05; P<0.01). 20The immunotherapeutic effect of dendritic cells vaccine modified with interleukin-18 gene and tumor cell lysate on mice with pancreatic carcinoma显示文摘AIM:To estimate the effect of a therapeutic vaccine against pancreatic carcinoma based on dendritic cell(DC)vaccine modified with tumor lysate and Interleukin-18 gene.METHODS:The BALB/C mice model of pancreatic arcinoma was induced with DMBA,DCvaccine was construted through pulsed with tumor lysate and transfected by the recombinant adenoviral vector encoding IL-18gene.The immnotherapeutic effects of DC vaccine on mice with pancreatic carcinoma were assessed (divided intoD-IL18-Lysate group,DC-Lysate group,DC-IL18 group,DC group,PBSgroup).RESULTS:After vaccination of the DC vaccine,the concentration of IL-18and IFN-γwere 2161±439ng·L^-1and435±72ng·L^-1inDC-IL18-Lysate group and there was significant difference compared with other groups(P<0.01)After vaccination of the DCcvaccine,the transplanted tumors were observed on 30days inDC-Lysate groups.on 16daysinDC-IL18groups.on3days in control group,but mice remained tumor-free for at least50days in DC-IL18-Lysate group and there was significant difference between DC-IL18-Lysate group and other groups(P<0.01).The median survival exceeds62days in DC-IL18-Lysate group.But the medsian surival was 48.6days in DC-Lysate group,33days in DC-IL-18group,17days in PBSgroup.The survival period was obviously prolonged in DC-IL18-Lysate group than in other groups(P<0.05,P<0.01).The weight of pancreatic tumor was0.22±0.083ginDC-IL18-Lysate group,1.45±0.74ginDC-Lysate group,1.89±1.34gin DC-IL18group,3.0±1.6ginDCgroup,2.9±2.0ginPBSgroup and the weight of tumor obviously reduced in DC-IL-18-Lysate group than in other groups(P<0.05,P<0.01).CONCLUSION:DC vaccine modified with tumo lysate and Interleukin-18gene can induce a specific and effective immune response against pancreatic cancinoma,cell.Zhao-Hui Tang Gao-Song Wu Sheng-Quan Zou Fa-Zhu Qiu Department of Surgery of Tong Ji Hospital Wen-Hong Qiu Department of immunology,Tongji Medical College,Huazhong University of Science and Technology,Wuhan 430030,Hubei Province,China Xiang-Ping Yang Department of Biochemistry,Rheinisch-Westfalische Technische Hochschule(RWTH),D-52074 Aachen,Germany 2002World Journal of Gastroenterology2002,8,5:37
