| 2 | Studies on the role of marine bacteria in the upwelling ecosystem——Ⅰ.Bacterial biomass in the upwelling regions显示文摘-Six cruises were carried out off the south bank of Fujian - Taiwan during the period of December 21, 1987 to November 15, 1988 to estimate the contribution of bacterial biomass carbon (BBC) to the totai particulate organic pools using epifluorescent microscopic technique. The results show that the standing crop of bacteria fluctuated from 0. 95 to 66. 60 mg /m3 (dry weight). Upwelling phenomena appeared in the region around Nanpeng Island in summer while in the region of Waixie in all seasons. The average value of BBC was 27. 60(±6. 08)mg/m3and 21. 32 (±2. 34) mg/m3 respectively. The seasonal and spatial distribution is discussed in relation to environmental factors as well as upwelling phenomena. | 3 | Removing ammonium from water and wastewater using cost-effective adsorbents:A review显示文摘Ammonium is an important nutrient in primary production; however, high ammonium loads can cause eutrophication of natural waterways, contributing to undesirable changes in water quality and ecosystem structure. While ammonium pollution comes from diffuse agricultural sources, making control difficult, industrial or municipal point sources such as wastewater treatment plants also contribute significantly to overall ammonium pollution.These latter sources can be targeted more readily to control ammonium release into water systems. To assist policy makers and researchers in understanding the diversity of treatment options and the best option for their circumstance, this paper produces a comprehensive review of existing treatment options for ammonium removal with a particular focus on those technologies which offer the highest rates of removal and cost-effectiveness. Ion exchange and adsorption material methods are simple to apply, cost-effective, environmentally friendly technologies which are quite efficient at removing ammonium from treated water. The review presents a list of adsorbents from the literature, their adsorption capacities and other parameters needed for ammonium removal. Further, the preparation of adsorbents with high ammonium removal capacities and new adsorbents is discussed in the context of their relative cost, removal efficiencies, and limitations. Efficient, cost-effective, and environmental friendly adsorbents for the removal of ammonium on a large scale for commercial or water treatment plants are provided. | 4 | Effects of Ce on catalytic combustion of methane over Pd-Pt/Al_2O_3 catalyst显示文摘Activity and stability of 1%Pd-0.2%Pt/Al2O3 and 1%Pd-0.2%Pt/0.6%Ce/Al2O3 catalysts prepared by impregnation method for catalytic combustion of methane in air were investigated. The catalysts before and after reaction were characterized by BET, CO chemisorption, XRD and XPS techniques. | 5 | Effect of hydrophilic silica nanoparticles on hydrate formation: Insight from the experimental study显示文摘Invasion of drilling fluid into natural gas hydrate deposits during drilling might damage the reservoir,induce hydrate dissociation and then cause wellbore instability and distortion of the data from well logging. Adding nanoparticles into drilling fluid is an effective method in reducing the invasion of drilling fluid and enhancing borehole stability. However, the addition of nanoparticles might also introduce hydrate formation risk in borehole because they can act as the 'seeds' for hydrate nucleation. This paper presents an experimental study of the effect of hydrophilic silica nanoparticle on gas hydrate formation in a dynamic methane/liquid-water system. In the experiment, the ultrapure water with and without1.0 wt%–6.0 wt% concentrations of silica nanoparticles, grain sizes of 20 and 50 nm, were pressurized by methane gas under varied conditions of temperature and pressure. The induction time, the gas consumption, and the average rate of gas consumption in the system were measured and compared to those in ultrapure water. The results show that a concentration of 4.0 wt% hydrophilic SiO_2 particles with a grain size of 50 nm has a relatively strong inhibition effect on hydrate formation when the initial experimental condition is 5.0 °C and 5.0 MPa. Compared to ultrapure water, the hydrophilic nano-SiO_2 fluid increases the induction time for hydrate formation by 194% and decreases the amount and average rate of hydrate formation by 10% and 17%, respectively. This inhibition effect may be attributed to the hydrophilicity,amount and aggregation of silica nanoparticle according to the results of water activity and zeta potential measurements. | 6 | Oxidation of gaseous elemental mercury in a high voltage discharge reactor显示文摘Effects of the voltage waveform, discharge tooth wheel number and CO2/NO/SO2 concentration in the simulated flue gas on Hg0 oxidation were investigated using a link tooth wheel-cylinder reactor energized by different high voltage power supplies. Negative DC discharge induced more ozone production and a higher Hg0 oxidation efficiency than positive DC discharge and 12 kHz AC discharge. The discharge tooth wheel number had almost no effect on the maximum Hg0 oxidation efficiency. The allowable supplied voltage decreased with the increase of discharge tooth wheel number. CO2 could stabilize the discharge process and increase the maximum voltage for a stable discharge. | 7 | Calcium silicate bioactive ceramics induce osteogenesis through oncostatin M显示文摘Immune reactions are a key factor in determining the destiny of bone substitute materials after implantation.Macrophages,the most vital factor in the immune response affecting implants,are critical in bone formation,as well as bone biomaterial-mediated bone repair.Therefore,it is critical to design materials with osteoimmunomodulatory properties to reduce host-to-material inflammatory responses by inducing macrophage polarization.Our previous study showed that calcium silicate(CS)bioceramics could significantly promote osteogenesis.Herein,we further investigated the effects of CS on the behavior of macrophages and how macrophages regulated osteogenesis.Under CS extract stimulation,the macrophage phenotype was converted to the M2 extreme.Stimulation by a macrophage-conditioned medium that was pretreated by CS extracts resulted in a significant enhancement of osteogenic differentiation of bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells(BMSCs),indicating the important role of macrophage polarization in biomaterial-induced osteogenesis.Mechanistically,oncostatin M(OSM)in the macrophage-conditioned medium promoted osteogenic differentiation of BMSCs through the ERK1/2 and JAK3 pathways.This in vivo study further demonstrated that CS bioceramics could stimulate osteogenesis better thanβ-TCP implants by accelerating new bone formation at defective sites in the femur.These findings improve our understanding of immune modulation of CS bioactive ceramics and facilitate strategies to improve the in vitro osteogenesis capability of bone substitute materials. | Panyu Zhou Demeng Xia Zhexin Ni Tianle Ou Yang Wang Hongyue Zhang Lixia Mao Kaili Lin Shuogui Xu Jiaqiang Liu | 2021 | Bioactive Materials2021,6,3: | 5 |

| 9 | Soil fungal community is more sensitive to nitrogen deposition than increased rainfall in a mixed deciduous forest of China显示文摘Nitrogen(N)deposition and intensified rainfall can strongly affect soil microbial community,but compared with available studies on bacteria,those on soil fungi are quite limited.Here we carried out a field experiment in a mixed deciduous forest of China to study the influences of increased N deposition and rainfall on soil fungi by using quantitative PCR and high-throughput sequencing method.The results demonstrated that(1)N addition significantly increased fungal abundance and alpha diversity(richness,Shannon index and Invsimpson index),changed fungal community composition at OTU level,and marginally increased the relative abundance of Ascomycota and Zygomycota,while water addition showed no remarkable effects on fungal abundance,biodiversity and community composition.(2)N addition significantly increased the richness of saprotrophic fungi and pathogenic fungi,and the relative abundance of saprotrophic fungi,but water addition only slightly increased the abundance of pathogenic fungi.(3)Fungal composition dissimilarity closely correlated with the disparity of soil parameters as a whole.Soil NH_(4)^(+)-N exhibited strong positive correlation with the richness of pathogenic fungi and mycorrhizal fungi,while both soil moisture and NH_(4)^(+)-N tightly correlated with soil fungal abundance and alpha diversity indices.We concluded that in this N-limited but non-water-limited forest ecosystem,N deposition posed stronger effects on soil fungi than increased rainfall,partially mediated by changes in soil properties. | Aihua Zhao Lei Liu Baodong Chen Wei Fu Wei Xie Tianle Xu Wei Zhang Qing Ye Haiyan Feng Shenglei Fu | 2020 | Soil Ecology Letters2020,2,1: | 5 |
| 10 | Enrichment of heavy metals in coal gangue by puff balls and mechanism research显示文摘Coal gangue with/without wild puff balls growing on or covering up were analyzed by means of inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectrometry(ICP-AES) and atomic fluorescence spectrometry(AFS) to detect the contents of heavy metal elements in the plants. Seven heavy metals were chosen to do the experiments, which showed that the puff balls have strong enrichment capacity for heavy metals(As, Pb, Mn and Ni). The highest enrichment level was Mn, 220.3 mg/kg(dry weight) for puffball fruiting bodies, and the highest As, Cr and Pb enrichment levels for puffball mycelium were 111, 265.3 and 86 mg/kg, respectively. Cd, Mn and Ni could transfer from puffball mycelium to its fruiting bodies, while As, Cr, Pb and Co mainly accumulated in the mycelium. The contents of five organic acids(tartaric acid, glycolic acid, lactic acid, citric acid and malic acid) in puffballs were determined with high performance liquid chromatography. With water, ethanol and ethyl acetate as solvents, the puffball extracts performed dissolution reactions with coal gangue, in which the water extract(containing a large amount of organic acids) was most effective in releasing heavy metals, especially As, Pb, Cr, Mn, Co and Ni from coal gangue. DH46 by Uniform Design显示文摘Harmful algal blooms(HABs) have led to extensive ecological and environmental issues and huge economic losses.Various HAB control techniques have been developed,and biological methods have been paid more attention.Algicidal bacteria is a general designation for bacteria which inhibit algal growth in a direct or indirect manner,and kill or damage the algal cells.A metabolite which is strongly toxic to the dinoflagellate Alexandrium tamarense was produced by strain DH46 of the alga-lysing bacterium Alteromonas sp.The culture conditions were optimized using a single-factor test method.Factors including carbon source,nitrogen source,temperature,initial pH value,rotational speed and salinity were studied.The results showed that the cultivation of the bacteria at 28℃ and 180 r min-1with initial pH 7 and 30 salt contcentration favored both the cell growth and the lysing effect of strain DH46.The optimal medium composition for strain DH46 was determined by means of uniform design experimentation,and the most important components influencing the cell density were tryptone,yeast extract,soluble starch,NaNO3 and MgSO4.When the following culture medium was used(tryptone 14.0g,yeast extract 1.63g,soluble starch 5.0 g,NaNO3 1.6 g,MgSO4 2.3 g in 1L),the largest bacterial dry weight(7.36 g L-1) was obtained,which was an enhancement of 107% compared to the initial medium;and the algal lysis rate was as high as 98.4% which increased nearly 10% after optimization. | LIN Jing ZHENG Wei TIAN Yun WANG Guizhong ZHENG Tianling | 2013 | Journal of Ocean University of China2013,12,3: | 4 |
| 13 | Cloning,expression and characterization of serine palmitoyltransferase(SPT)-like gene subunit(LCB2) from marine Emiliania huxleyi virus(Coccolithovirus)显示文摘The authors have isolated and characterized a novel serine palmitoyltransferase(SPT)-like gene in marine Emiliania huxleyi virus(EhV-99B1).The open-reading frame(ORF) of EhV99B1-SPT encoded a protein of 496 amino acids with a calculated molecular mass of 96 kDa and Ip 6.01.The results of sequence analysis showed that there was about 31%-45% identity in amino acid sequence with other organisms.The maximum likelihood phylogenetic tree suggested that the EhV99B1-SPT gene possibly horizontally transferred from the eukaryote.Hydrophobic profiles of deduced amino acid sequences suggested a hydrophobic,globular and membrane-associated protein with five transmembrane domains(TMDs) motifs.Several potential N-linked glycosylation sites were presented in SPT.These results suggested that EhV99B1-SPT was an integral endoplasmic reticulum membrane protein.Despite lower sequence identity,the secondary and three-dimensional structures predicted showed that the 'pocket' structure element composed of 2α-helices and 4βsheets was the catalytic center of this enzyme,with a typical conserved 'TFTKSFG' active site in the N-terminal region and was very close to those of prokaryotic organisms.However,the N-terminal domain of EhV99B1-SPT most closely resembled the LCB2 catalysis subunit and the C-terminal domain most closely resembled the LCB1 regulatory subunit of other organisms which together formed a spherical molecule.This 'chimera' was highly similar to the prokaryotic homologous SPT.For a functional identification,the EhV99B1-LCB2 subunit gene was expressed in Escherichia coli,which resulted in significant accumulation of new sphingolipid in E.coli cells. | LIU Xuhong ZHENG Tianling CAI Yiqin LIU Jingwen | 2012 | Acta Oceanologica Sinica2012,31,6: | 4 |
| 14 | N, F?Codoped Microporous Carbon Nanofibers as Efficient Metal?Free Electrocatalysts for ORR显示文摘Currently, the oxygen reduction reaction(ORR) mainly depends on precious metal platinum(Pt) catalysts. However, Pt-based catalysts have several shortcomings, such as high cost, scarcity, and poor long-term stability. Therefore, development of e cient metal-free electrocatalysts to replace Pt-based electrocatalysts is important. In this study, we successfully prepared nitrogen-and fluorinecodoped microporous carbon nanofibers(N, F-MCFs) via electrospinning polyacrylonitrile/polyvinylidene fluoride/polyvinylpyrrolidone(PAN/PVDF/PVP) tricomponent polymers followed by a hydrothermal process and thermal treatment, which was achieved for the first time in the literature. The results indicated that N, F-MCFs exhibit a high catalytic activity(E_(onset): 0.94 V vs. RHE, E_(1/2): 0.81 V vs. RHE, and electron transfer number: 4.0) and considerably better stability and methanol tolerance for ORR in alkaline solutions as compared to commercial Pt/carbon(Pt/C, 20 wt%) catalysts. Furthermore, in acidic media, N, F-MCFs showed a four-electron transfer pathway for ORR. | 16 | Diversity of the aerobic anoxygenic phototrophy gene pufM in Arctic and Antarctic coastal seawaters显示文摘Aerobic anoxygenic phototrophic(AAP) bacteria serve important functions in marine carbon and energy cycling because of their capability to utilize dissolved organic substrates and harvest light energy.AAP bacteria are widely distributed in marine environments,and their diversity has been examined in marine habitats.However,information about AAP bacteria at high latitudes remains insufficient to date.Therefore,this study determined the summer AAP bacterial diversity in Arctic Kongsfjorden and in the Antarctic coastal seawater of King George Island on the basis of puf M,a gene that encodes a pigment-binding protein subunit of the reaction center complex.Four puf M clone libraries were constructed,and 674 positive clones were obtained from four investigated stations(two in Kongsfjorden and two in the Antarctic Maxwell Bay).Arctic clones were clustered within the Alphaproteobacteria,whereas Antarctic clones were classified into the Alphaproteobacteria and Betaproteobacteria classes.Rhodobacteraceae-like puf M genes dominated in all samples.In addition,sequences closely related to puf M encoded on a plasmid in Sulfitobacter guttiformis were predominant in both Arctic and Antarctic samples.This result indicates the transpolar or even global distribution of puf M genes in marine environments.Meanwhile,differences between the Arctic and Antarctic sequences may prove polar endemism.These results indicate the important role of Rhodobacteraceae as AAP bacteria in bipolar coastal waters. | ZENG Yinxin DONG Peiyan QIAO Zongyun ZHENG Tianling | 2016 | Acta Oceanologica Sinica2016,35,6: | 3 |

| 19 | Current status of bacteriological parameters and DOC/POC in Xiamen coastal waters显示文摘The surface and bottom waters samples were collected from six locations in Xiamen west-em sea. The quantified estimation of bacterial production (3H-thymidine method) and observation ofbacterial heterotrophic activity (14C-glucose method) have been made in order to have a better under-standing of the role of marine bacteria and their activities. The results showed that the mean value ofbacterial heterotrophic activity was 9 × 108 cells/(L. h) in the surface waters and 2.6 × 108 cells/( L. h)in the bottom waters. The mean value of bacterial production was 38 × 108 cells/( L. h) in the surfacewaters and 7.1 × 108 cells/(L.h) in the bottom waters. The relationship between bacterial production,heterotrophic activity, POC and DOC measured during this survey were discussed. | 20 | Silicon-based microelectrode arrays for stimulation and signal recording of in vitro cultured neurons显示文摘Microelectrode arrays (MEAs) for stimulation and signal recording of in vitro cultured neurons are presented.Each MEA is composed of 60 independent electrodes with 59 working ones and one reference one.These electrodes are divided into 30 pairs.Through each pair of electrodes,four independent states can be realized to define the accessing modes of neurons cultured on the surface of the electrodes.A total MEA covers an area of 10 mm×10 mm.MEAs are fabricated in a silicon-based semiconductor process.An implemented MEA is bonded on a specially designed printed-circuit-board (PCB) and surrounded by a culture chamber.An impedance measurement has been made to verify the electrical characteristics of MEAs.The surface was modified to enhance the biocompatibility.A series of PC12 cells culture experiments validates the effectiveness of the modification.An extracellular signal recording experiment with acetylcholine (Ach) as a stimulant has been carried out,and the results show the feasibility of MEAs for extracellular action potential recording.Extracellular electrical stimulation and recording experiments have been carried out too.They indicate that MEAs can be used for extracellular stimulation,recording,simultaneous stimulation and recording,and isolation of PC12 cells network cultured in vitro. | PAN HaiXian LU XiaoYing WANG ZhiGong REN TianLing FANG Tao ZHANG Jie ZHOU ChangJian WANG LiGang | 2011 | Science China(Information Sciences)2011,54,10: | 2 |
