1Optimization of fused deposition modeling process parameters:a review of current research and future prospects显示文摘Fused deposition modeling(FDM) is one of the most popular additive manufacturing technologies for various engineering applications.FDM process has been introduced commercially in early 1990 s by Stratasys Inc.,USA.The quality of FDM processed parts mainly depends on careful selection of process variables.Thus,identification of the FDM process parameters that significantly affect the quality of FDM processed parts is important.In recent years,researchers have explored a number of ways to improve the mechanical properties and part quality using various experimental design techniques and concepts.This article aims to review the research carried out so far in determining and optimizing the process parameters of the FDM process.Several statistical designs of experiments and optimization techniques used for the determination of optimum process parameters have been examined.The trends for future FDM research in this area are described.Omar A.Mohamed Syed H.Masood Jahar L.Bhowmik 2015Advances in Manufacturing2015,3,1:38
2Nickel-titanium shape memory alloys made by selective laser melting:a review on process optimisation显示文摘Selective laser melting(SLM)is a mainstream powder-bed fusion additive manufacturing(AM)process that creates a three-dimensional(3D)object using a high power laser to fuse fine particles of various metallic powders such as copper,tool steel,cobalt chrome,titanium,tungsten,aluminium and stainless steel.Over the past decade,SLM has received significant attention due to its capability in producing dense parts with superior mechanical properties.As a premier shape memory alloy,the nickel-titanium(NiTi)shape memory alloy is attractive for a variety of biomedical applications due to its superior mechanical properties,superelasticity,corrosion resistance and biocompatibility.This paper presents a comprehensive review of the recent progress in NiTi alloys produced by the SLM process,with a particular focus on the relationship between processing parameters,resultant microstructures and properties.Current research gaps,challenges and suggestions for future research are also addressed.Omar Ahmed Mohamed Syed Hasan Masood Wei Xu 2022Advances in Manufacturing2022,10,1:2
3Evaluation of anti-resistant activity of Auklandia(Saussurea lappa) root against some human pathogens显示文摘Objective:The antimicrobial activity of the ethanol extract of the Auklandia(Saussurea lappa)root plant was investigated to verify its medicinal use in the treatment of microbial infections.Methods:The antimicrobial activity of the ethanol extract was tested against clinical isolates ofsome multidrug-resistant bacteria using the agar well diffusion method.Commercial antibioticswere used as positive reference standards to determine the sensitivity of the clinical isolates.Results:The extracts showed significant inhibitory activity against clinical isolates of methicillinresistantStaphylococcus aureus,Pseudomonas aeruginosa,Escherichia coli,Klebsiella pneumonia,Extended Spectrum Beta-Lactemase,Acinetobacter baumannii.The minimum inhibitory concentration values obtained using the agar dilution test ranged from 2.0μg/μL-12.0μg/μL.In the contrary the water extract showed no activity at all against the tested isolates.Furthermore,theresults obtained by examining anti-resistant activity of the plant ethanolic extract showed thatat higher concentration of the plant extract(12μg)all tested bacteria isolates were inhibited with variable inhibition zones similar to those obtained when we applied lower extract concentrationusing the well diffusion assay.Conclusion:The results demonstrated that the crude ethanolicextract of the Auklandia(Saussurea lappa)root plant has a wide spectrum of activity suggestingthat it may be useful in the treatment of infections caused by the above clinical isolates(humanpathogens).Sidgi Syed Anwer Hasson Mohammed Saeed Al-Balushi KhazinaAlharthy JumaZaidAl-Busaidi MunaSulimanAldaihani Mohammed Shafeeq Othman Elias Antony Said Omar Habal Talal Abdullah Sallam Ali Abdullah Aljabri Mohamed AhmedIdris 2013Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Biomedicine2013,3,7:2

11Modeling, analysis, and optimization of dimensional accuracy of FDM-fabricated parts using definitive screening design and deep learning feedforward artificial neural network显示文摘Additive manufacturing(AM)technologies such as fused deposition modeling(FDM)rely on the quality of manufactured products and the process capability.Currently,the dimensional accuracy and stability of any AM process is essential for ensuring that customer specifications are satisfied at the highest standard,and variations are controlled without significantly affecting the functioning of processes,machines,and product structures.This study aims to investigate the effects of FDM fabrication conditions on the dimensional accuracy of cylindrical parts.In this study,a new class of experimental design techniques for integrated second-order definitive screening design(DSD)and an artificial neural network(ANN)are proposed for designing experiments to evaluate and predict the effects of six important operating variables.By determining the optimum fabrication conditions to obtain better dimensional accuracies for cylindrical parts,the time consumption and number of complex experiments are reduced considerably in this study.The optimum fabrication conditions generated through a second-order DSD are verified with experimental measurements.The results indicate that the slice thickness,part print direction,and number of perimeters significantly affect the percentage of length difference,whereas the percentage of diameter difference is significantly affected by the raster-to-raster air gap,bead width,number of perimeters,and part print direction.Furthermore,the results demonstrate that a second-order DSD integrated with an ANN is a more attractive and promising methodology for AM applications.Omar Ahmed Mohamed Syed Hasan Masood Jahar Lal Bhowmik 2021Advances in Manufacturing2021,9,1:1

13Impact of petroleum and non-petroleum indices on financial development in Oman显示文摘This study analyzes the impact of petroleum and non-petroleum indices on the financial development of the Sultanate of Oman from 1978 to 2017.To this end,it uses the petroleum proxy of oil rents(%of gross domestic product,GDP)and the non-petroleum proxy of industry(including construction)value added(%of GDP);agriculture,forestry,and fishing value added(%of GDP);and services value added(%of GDP)to determine the effect on financial development,measured by the amount of domestic credit extended to the private sector by banks(%of GDP).It applies an autoregressive distributed lag(ARDL)model.The long-term equation illustrates that the agriculture and industry GDPs have a negative and significant relationship with domestic credit in Oman.However,the oil and service sector GDPs promote financial development.The short-term equation illustrates that the oil,agricultural,and service sectors have positive and significant effects on domestic credit.The conclusion is that the economy of Oman is still in the first phase of economic diversification.Accordingly,the government should use oil revenues to develop various non-oil industrial sectors.This would enhance the country’s competitiveness in the global economy and positively contribute to improving the liquidity of the banking sector for stimulating credit at the macroeconomic level.Faris Nasif Alshubiri Omar Ikbal Tawfik Syed Ahsan Jamil 2020Financial Innovation2020,6,1:1
