Development and Implementation of a Technique for Norms-Adaptable Agents in Open Multi-Agent Communities显示文摘In open normative multi-agent communities,an agent is not usually and explicitly given the norms of the host agents. Thus, when it is not able to adapt the communities's norms,it is totally deprived of accessing resources and services from the host.Such circumstance severely affects its performance resulting in failure to achieve its goal.Consequently, this study attempts to overcome this deficiency by proposing a technique that enables an agent to detect the host's potential norms via self-enforcement and update its norms even in the absence of sanctions from a third-party.The authors called this technique as the potential norms detection technique(PNDT).The PNDT consists of five components: Agent's belief base; observation process; potential norms mining algorithm(PNMA);verification process; and updating process. The authors demonstrate the operation of the PNMA algorithm by testing it on a typical scenario and analyzing the results on several perspectives. The tests' results show that the PNDT performs satisfactorily albeit the success rate depends on the environment variables settings.MAHMOUD Moamin AHMAD Mohd Sharifuddin MOHD YUSOFF Mohd Zaliman 2016Journal of Systems Science & Complexity2016,29,6:1
Robust adaptive observer for nonlinear time-delay systems with disturbances and uncertainties显示文摘A method of designing robust adaptive observer for nonlinear continuous-time systems with time-delays is presented. It is assumed that the nonlinear functions of the system satisfy Lipschitz condition. The observer is derived considering plant disturbances, structured parameter uncertainties and unknown parameters.Like any other adaptive observer for nonlinear systems with ideal working conditions,it also simultaneously estimates both the states and unknown parameters. This property is very much useful for many applications like fault diagnosis. The convergence of the state errors and estimated unknown parameters are analysed by H_(∞)-control.The sufficient conditions for the existence of the observer are determined and expressed in linear matrix inequality form. With the help of a numerical example, the effectiveness of the proposed observer is demonstrated.Sharifuddin Mondal 2017Journal of Control and Decision2017,4,2:1

Adaptive unknown input observer approach for multi-fault diagnosis of PEM fuel cell system with time-delays显示文摘An adaptive unknown input observer(AUIO)for polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cell system with time-delays is developed and applied to formulate a fault diagnosis algorithm for multiple actuator fault detection and isolation(MAFDI).In a scheme based on multiple-model,a group of observers are developed based on a model that describes the system in the presence of a specific actuator fault. The observers are used to generate fault-dependant residual signals. When a model matches the system, the residual signal is zero and becomes non-zero in case of a faulty scenario. Two types of actuator faults are considered namely stuck fault, where the inputs delivered by the faulty actuators are blocked to constant value, and loss of effectiveness fault. The effectiveness of the proposed AUIO and MAFDI algorithm is shown with simulation results.Vikash Sinha Sharifuddin Mondal 2021Journal of Control and Decision2021,8,2:1
Factors Influencing Attitude towards Technology Adoption among Permanent Food Production Park (PFPP) Program Participants in West Malaysia显示文摘The study explores the factors influencing attitude towards agricultural technology adoption among Permanent Food Production Park(PFPP)program participants in West Malaysia and the factors that influence their attitudes. The PFPP program is one of the programs introduced by the government of Malaysia with the objectives of increasing food production,as well as supporting local agriculture entrepreneurs. The study employed a cross-sectional study design and has been conducted in four West Malaysian states with a sample of size of 275 respondents. The results indicated that the respondents had a positive attitude towards technology adoption and factors such as knowledge and skill, benefit, education level, years of experience in agriculture and gross income had influenced their attitude.Zulqarnain Norsida Man Juwaidah Sharifuddin Muhammad Roslan Salim Hassan 2020Journal of Agricultural Science and Technology(B)2020,10,2:0
Formulating layered adjustable autonomy for unmanned aerial vehicles显示文摘Purpose–The purpose of this paper is to propose a layered adjustable autonomy(LAA)as a dynamically adjustable autonomy model for a multi-agent system. It is mainly used to efficiently manage humans’and agents’shared control of autonomous systems and maintain humans’global control over the agents.Design/methodology/approach–The authors apply the LAA model in an agent-based autonomous unmanned aerial vehicle(UAV)system. The UAV system implementation consists of two parts:software and hardware. The software part represents the controller and the cognitive, and the hardware represents the computing machinery and the actuator of the UAV system. The UAV system performs three experimental scenarios of dance, surveillance and search missions. The selected scenarios demonstrate different behaviors in order to create a suitable test plan and ensure significant results.Findings–The results of the UAV system tests prove that segregating the autonomy of a system as multidimensional and adjustable layers enables humans and/or agents to perform actions at convenient autonomy levels.Hence, reducing the adjustable autonomy drawbacks of constraining the autonomy of the agents, increasing humans’workload and exposing the system to disturbances.Originality/value–The application of the LAA model in a UAV manifests the significance of implementing dynamic adjustable autonomy.Assessing the autonomy within three phases of agents run cycle(taskselection,actions-selection and actions-execution)is an original idea that aims to direct agents’autonomy toward performance competency. The agents’abilities are well exploited when an incompetent agent switches with a more competent one.Salama A.Mostafa Mohd Sharifuddin Ahmad Aida Mustapha Mazin Abed Mohammed 2017International Journal of Intelligent Computing and Cybernetics2017,10,4:0
