5Towards a better understanding of pathways of multiple co-occurring erosion processes on global cropland显示文摘Soil erosion is a complex process involving multiple natural and anthropic agents, causing the deterio-ration of multiple components comprising soil health. Here,we provide an estimate of the spatial pat-terns of cropland susceptibility to erosion by sheet and rill, gully, wind, tillage, and root crops harvesting and report the co-occurrence of these processes using a multi-model approach. In addition,to give a global overview of potential future changes,we identify the locations where these multiple concurrent soil erosion processes may be expected to intersect with projected dry/wet climate changes by 2070.Of a modelled 1.48 billion hectares(B ha)of global cropland, our results indicate that 0.56 B ha(-36%of the total area)are highly susceptible(classes 4 and 5)to a single erosion process,0.27 B ha(-18%of the total area)to two processes and 0.02 B ha(1.4%of the total area)to three or more processes. An estimated 0.82 B ha of croplands are susceptible to possible increases in water(0.68 B ha)and wind(0.14 B ha)erosion. We contend that the presented set of estimates represents a basis for enhancing our founda-tional knowledge on the geography of soil erosion at the global scale. The generated insight on multiple erosion processes can be a useful starting point for decision-makers working with ex-post and ex-ante policy evaluation of the UN Sustainable Development Goal 15(Life on Land)activities.Scientifically, this work provides the hitherto most comprehensive assessment of soil erosion risks at the global scale, based on state-of-the-art models.Pasquale Borrelli Christine Alewell Jae E.Yang Nejc Bezak Yixian Chen Ayele Almaw Fenta Arthur Nicolaus Fendrich Surya Gupta Francis Matthews Sirio Modugno Nigussie Haregeweyn David A.Robinson Florence Tan Matthias Vanmaercke Gert Verstraeten Diana C.S.Vieira Panos Panagos 2023International Soil and Water Conservation Research2023,11,4:0
6Lacrimal sac rhinosporidiosis显示文摘Rhinosporidiosis is caused by the organism Rhinosporidium seeberi. It is a rare aquatic protistan parasite.Though more prevalent in Asiatic regions, cases have also been reported in European countries. In India,it mostly affects the southern part.Rhinosporidium seeberi most commonly affects the mucous membranes, but can also affect other structures including the larynx, trachea, skin, genitalia, lungs and rectum. The typical presentation is that of a pinkish mass which bleeds profusely.Isolated lacrimal sac rhinosporidiosis is very rare.Computed tomography scans and magnetic resonance imaging are helpful in diagnosis, but histopathological study along with Gomori methenamine silver, periodic acid-Schiff,and potassium chloride are required for confirmation. Its mainstay of treatment is surgery.Prognosis is excellent, but recurrence is not unusual.Laxmi Kanta Mishra Sanjeev Gupta Surya Kanta Pradhan Manas RBaisakh 2015Plastic and Aesthetic Research2015,2,1:0
7Spectrum of complicated migraine in children: A common profile in aid to clinical diagnosis显示文摘Complicated migraine encompasses several individual clinical syndromes of migraine. Such a syndrome in children frequently presents with various neurological symptoms in the Emergency Department. An acute presentation in the absence of headache presents a diagnostic challenge. A delay in diagnosis and treatment may have medicolegal implication. To date, there are no reports of a common clinical profile proposed in making a clinical diagnosis for the complicated migraine. In this clinical review, we propose and describe:(1) A common clinical profile in aid to clinical diagnosis for spectrum of complicated migraine;(2) How it can be used in differentiating complicated migraine from migraine without aura, migraine with aura, and seizure;(3) We discuss the status of complicated migraine in the International Headache Society classification 2013; and(4) In addition, a common treatment strategy for the spectrum of migraine has been described. To diagnose complicated migraine clinically, it is imperative to adhere with the proposed profile. This will optimize the use of investigation and will also avoid a legal implication of delay in their management. The proposed common clinical profile is incongruent with the International Headache Society 2013. Future classification should minimize the dissociation from clinically encountered syndromes and coin a single word to address collectively this subtype of migraine with an acute presentation of a common clinical profile.Surya N Gupta Vikash S Gupta Dawn M Fields 2015World Journal of Clinical Pediatrics2015,4,1:0
8Spectrum of intracranial incidental findings on pediatric brain magnetic resonance imaging:What clinician should know?显示文摘Intracranial incidental findings on magnetic resonance imaging(MRI) of the brain continue to generate interest in healthy control, research, and clinical subjects. However,in clinical practice, the discovery of incidental findings acts as a 'distractor'.This review is based on existing heterogeneous reports, their clinical implications, and how the results of incidental findings influence clinical management. This draws attention to the followings:(1) the prevalence of clinically significant incidental findings is low;(2) there is a lack of a systematic approach to classification;and discusses(3) how to deal with the detected incidental findings based a proposed common clinical profile.Individualized neurological care requires an active discussion regarding the need for neuroimaging.Clinical significance of incidental findings should be decided based on lesion's neuroradiologic characteristics in the given clinical context.Available evidence suggests that the outcome of an incidentally found 'serious lesion in children' is excellent.Future studies of intracranial incidental findings on pediatric brain MRI should be focused on a homogeneous population. The study should address this clinical knowledge based review powered by the statistical analyses.Surya N Gupta Vikash S Gupta Andrew C White 2016World Journal of Clinical Pediatrics2016,5,3:0
