1Catalytic performances of kaoline and silica alumina in the thermal degradation of polypropylene显示文摘Polypropylene was cracked thermally and catalytically in the presence of kaoline and silica alumina in a semi batch reactor in the temperature range 400℃~550℃ in order to obtain suitable liquid fuels.The dependencies between process temperatures,types of catalyst,feed compositions and product yields of the obtained fuel fractions were found.It was observed that up to 450℃ thermal cracking temperature,the major product of pyrolysis was liquid oil and the major product at other higher temperatures(475℃~550℃) are viscous liquid or wax and the highest yield of pyrolysis product is 82.85% by weight at 500℃.Use of kaoline and silica alumina decreased the reaction time and increased the yield of liquid fraction.Again the major pyrolysis product in catalytic pyrolysis at all temperatures was low viscous liquid oil.Silica alumina was found better as compared to kaoline in liquid yield and in reducing the reaction temperature.The maximum oil yield using silica alumina and kaoline catalyst are 91% and 89.5% respectively.On the basis of the obtained results hypothetical continuous process of waste polypropylene plastics processing for engine fuel production can be presented.Achyut K Panda R K Singh 2011燃料化学学报2011,39,3:15
2A Comprehensive Review of Path Planning Algorithms for Autonomous Underwater Vehicles显示文摘The underwater path planning problem deals with finding an optimal or sub-optimal route between an origin point and a termination point in marine environments.The underwater environment is still considered as a great challenge for the path planning of autonomous underwater vehicles(AUVs)because of its hostile and dynamic nature.The major constraints for path planning are limited data transmission capability,power and sensing technology available for underwater operations.The sea environment is subjected to a large set of challenging factors classified as atmospheric,coastal and gravitational.Based on whether the impact of these factors can be approximated or not,the underwater environment can be characterized as predictable and unpredictable respectively.The classical path planning algorithms based on artificial intelligence assume that environmental conditions are known apriori to the path planner.But the current path planning algorithms involve continual interaction with the environment considering the environment as dynamic and its effect cannot be predicted.Path planning is necessary for many applications involving AUVs.These are based upon planning safety routes with minimum energy cost and computation overheads.This review is intended to summarize various path planning strategies for AUVs on the basis of characterization of underwater environments as predictable and unpredictable.The algorithms employed in path planning of single AUV and multiple AUVs are reviewed in the light of predictable and unpredictable environments.Madhusmita Panda Bikramaditya Das Bidyadhar Subudhi Bibhuti Bhusan Pati 2020International Journal of Automation and computing2020,17,3:8
3Perfusion computed tomography in renal cell carcinoma显示文摘Various imaging modalities are available for the diagnosis, staging and response evaluation of patients with renal cell carcinoma(RCC). While contrast enhanced computed tomography(CT) is used as the standard of imaging for size, morphological evaluation and response assessment in RCC, a new functional imaging technique like perfusion CT(p CT), goes down to the molecular level and provides new perspectives in imaging of RCC. p CT depicts regional tumor perfusion and vascular permeability which are indirect parameters of tumor angiogenesis and thereby provides vital information regarding tumor microenvironment. Also response evaluation using p CT may predate the size criteria used in Response Evaluation Criteria in Solid Tumors, as changes in the perfusion occurs earlier following tissue kinase inhibitors before any actual change in size. This may potentially help in predicting prognosis, better selection of therapy and more accurate and better response evaluation in patients with RCC. 4Blunt pancreatic trauma: A persistent diagnostic conundrum?显示文摘Blunt pancreatic trauma is an uncommon injury but has high morbidity and mortality. In modern era of trauma care, pancreatic trauma remains a persistent challenge to radiologists and surgeons alike. Early detection of pancreatic trauma is essential to prevent subsequent complications. However early pancreatic injury is often subtle on computed tomography(CT) and can be missed unless specifically looked for. Signs of pancreatic injury on CT include laceration, transection, bulky pancreas, heterogeneous enhancement, peripancreatic fluid and signs of pancreatitis. Pan-creatic ductal injury is a vital decision-making parameter as ductal injury is an indication for laparotomy. While lacerations involving more than half of pancreatic parenchyma are suggestive of ductal injury on CT, ductal injuries can be directly assessed on magnetic resonance imaging(MRI) or encoscopic retrograde cholangio-pancreatography. Pancreatic trauma also shows temporal evolution with increase in extent of injury with time. Hence early CT scans may underestimate the extent of injures and sequential imaging with CT or MRI is important in pancreatic trauma. Sequential imaging is also needed for successful nonoperative management of pancreatic injury. 5Solvent extraction of neodymium(Ⅲ) from acidic nitrate medium using Cyanex 921 in kerosene显示文摘The extraction of neodymium(Ⅲ) from acidic nitrate medium was investigated using Cyanex 921 as extractant in kerosene. The metal concentration in the aqueous phase before and after extraction was determined spectrophotometrically by Arsenazo Ⅲ method. The complete equilibration was achieved in 15 min. The effects of shaking time, nitric acid concentration, nitrate concentration, extractant concentration, and temperature on the extraction were studied. The extraction of Nd(Ⅲ) was found to increase very slowly with increase in concentration of HNO3 in the range of 0.001-0.008 mol/L and then decreased when 0.01 mol/L HNO3 was used. The percentage of extraction was increased with increase in nitrate concentration from 0.01-0.45 mol/L and then decreased when nitrate concentration increased to 0.5 mol/L. Quantitative extraction of Nd(Ⅲ) (98%) was obtained from the aqueous phase containing 0.001 mol/L HNO3 and 0.1 mol/L KNO3 using 0.5 mol/L Cyanex 921. On the basis of slope analysis, the extracted complex in the organic phase was proposed to be Nd(NO3)3.2Cyanex 921. The extraction of Nd(III) was found to increase with increase in concentration of metal ion in the range of 0.001-0.05 mol/L from 0.001 mol/L HNO3 and 0.1 mol/L KNO3 with 0.1 mol/L Cyanex 921. The percentage of extraction of neodymium was found to decrease with increase in temperature. From temperature variation studies, the negative value of △H indicated the extraction reaction to be exothermic and the negative value of △S indicated the formation of a stable complex. 8Effect of lanthanum,neodymium on piezoelectric,dielectric and ferroelectric properties of PZT显示文摘The effect of La^(3+)and Nd^(3+)on piezoelectric,dielectric and ferroelectric properties of PZT(Pb(Zr_(0.53)Ti_(0.47))O_(3))was studied.The powders were prepared by“wet-chemical”route followed by calcination at 800℃for 4 h.XRD analysis of the calcined powders confirms the tetragonal phase in the undoped PZT,which gradually decreases with the dopant concentration and the appearance of rhombohedral phase simultaneously.SEM study of sintered pellets reveals the decrease in grain size with the increase in dopant concentration beyond 0.02 mol Nd^(3+)and 0.03 mol La^(3+)respectively.The piezoelectric constant(d_(33))and dielectric properties were maximum for 0.02 mol Nd^(3+)and 0.03 mol La^(3+)respectively.The remnant polarization of La^(3+)-doped sample was higher than Nd^(3+)-doped sample,and the sample with combined dopants shows intermediate remnant polarization(P_(r)).Based on the above study,it is concluded that La^(3+)is more effective than Nd^(3+),including in a mixture of La^(3+)and Nd^(3+)dopants.Benudhar SAHOO Prasanta Kumar PANDA 2013Journal of Advanced Ceramics2013,2,1:6
9Novel targeting approaches and signaling pathways of colorectal cancer: An insight显示文摘Colorectal cancer(CRC) is the third most common cancer of mortality in the world. Chemotherapy based treatment leads to innumerable side effects as it delivers the anticancer drug to both normal cells besides cancer cells. Sonic Hedgehog(SHH), Wnt wingless-type mouse mammary tumor virus/β-catenin, transforming growth factor-β/SMAD, epidermal growth factor receptor and Notch are the main signaling pathways involved in the progression of CRC. Targeted therapies necessitate information regarding the particular aberrant pathways. Advancements in gene therapies have resulted in the recognition of novel therapeutic targets related with these signal-transduction cascades. CRC is a stepwise process where mutations occur over the time and activation of oncogenes and deactivation of tissue suppressor genes takes place. Genetic changes which are responsible for the induction of carcinogenesis include loss of heterozygosity in tumor suppressor genes such as adenomatous polyposis coli, mutation or deletion of genes like p53 and K-ras. Therefore, many gene-therapy approaches like gene correction, virusdirected enzyme-prodrug therapy, immunogenetic manipulation and virotherapy are currently being explored. Development of novel strategies for the safe and effective delivery of drugs to the cancerous site is the need of the hour. 10Laser Welding,Microwelding,Nanowelding and Nanoprocessing(Invited Paper)显示文摘Laser has been widely applied for advanced material processing,such as welding of advanced high strength steels(AHSS) for automotive applications and Pt,Ti,and Nitinol alloys for medical applications.Recently,ultrafast pulse laser,especially femtosecond laser,is identified as powerful tools for joining and surface engineering of nanomaterials.This paper reviews our research on these fields at the Centre of Advanced Materials Joining,University of Waterloo.Representative conclusions are listed for laser material processing at three continuing scales.1) For AHSS welding,a thin Al layer can dramatically enhanced the weldability of galvannealed AHSS.The movement of the welding line and softening in the vicinity has significantly influence on global mechanical properties in dual phase(DP) and transformation induced plasticity(TRIP) steels.The increase of the strength ratio decreases the formability and results in the non-uniform strain distribution.2) For medical micro-welding,oxygen is found to be a key role for welding strength and microstructure.The formation of intermetallics reduces the relative ductility and increases the susceptibility of cracking.Different laser processing parameters can significantly influence weld mechanical performance.3) For femtosecond laser nanofabrication,the joining of Au nanoparticles is successfully achieved by controlling laser energy.Surface nanostructure of Ag induced by femtosecond laser irradiation can work effective probes for surface enhanced Raman spectroscopy.A. 12Leaf Photosynthetic Activity and Antioxidant Defense Associated with Sub1 QTL in Rice Subjected to Submergence and Subsequent Re-aeration显示文摘The influence of submergence on photosynthesis and antioxidant capacities in rice varieties Swarna and Swarna-Sub1 with or without Sub1 QTL were evaluated under control,simulated complete submergence and subsequent re-aeration.The leaf photosynthetic rate and stomatal conductance decreased in the both varieties during the progression of submergence as compared to the control plants,but significant varietal differences were observed after 1 d of submergence.Submergence also altered the PSII activity,as reflected in a decrease in the values of Fo,Fm and Fv/Fm and degradation of chlorophyll,more in Swarna than in Swarna-Sub1.During early submergence period,the activities of superoxide dismutase(SOD),ascorbate peroxidase(APX),dehydroascorbate reductase(DHAR),glutathione reductase(GR) against reactive oxygen species were increased in the both varieties.However,with the progress of submergence period(after 7 d),the activities of SOD,catalase(CAT),APX,guaiacol peroxidase(GPX),GR and DHAR declined,more in Swarna than in Swarna-Sub1.During re-aeration,Swarna-Sub1 showed significant increase of above antioxidant enzymes but not in Swarna.Swarna-Sub1 improves photosynthetic activity,showing higher photosynthetic rate compared to Swarna under submergence and subsequent re-aeration because of less degradation of chlorophyll,higher stomatal conductance,and efficient PSII activity along with better antioxidant protection from oxidative damage.Debabrata PANDA Ramani Kumar SARKAR 2012Rice science2012,19,2:5
13Extraction of Zr(IV) from hydrochloric acid with tri-octyl amine and Cyanex 921 in kerosene显示文摘This article reports the extraction of zirconium(IV) from aqueous HCl solution by tri-octyl amine(TOA),Cyanex 921,and their binary mixture using kerosene as the diluent.The efect of some parameters on the extraction of Zr(IV) was investigated such as equilibration time,aqueous phase acidity,extractant molarity,chloride ion concentration,nature of diluents,and temperature.The extraction of Zr(IV) was found to be 99% from 7.5 M HCl using the mixture of extractants containing 0.1 M TOA and 0.02 M Cyanex 921 in kerosene.Kerosene was found to be the efective diluent for the extraction of Zr(IV) with the binary mixture of TOA and Cyanex 921.The positive enthalpy change and positive entropy change in the binary extraction system show the endothermic process with an increase in entropy.Stripping of Zr(IV) from the loaded organic phase containing the mixture of TOA(0.1 M) and Cyanex 921(0.02 M) indicates that HNO3and Na2CO3are the best stripping agents.Bhikari Charan Bhatta Nandita Panda Sujata Mishra 2013International Journal of Minerals,Metallurgy and Materials2013,20,9:5
14Effects of 42-year long-term fertilizer management on soil phosphorus availability, fractionation,adsorption–desorption isotherm and plant uptake in flooded tropical rice显示文摘Soil phosphorus(P) fractionation, adsorption, and desorption isotherm, and rice yield and P uptake were investigated in flooded tropical rice(Oryza sativa L.) following 42-year fertilizer and manure application. The treatments included low-input [unfertilized control without N, P, or K(C0N0)], farmyard manure(FYM)(C1N0), NP(C0NP), NPK(C0NPK), FYM + NP(C1NP), and high-input treatment, FYM + NPK(C1NPK). Grain yield was increased significantly by 74%over the control under the combined application of FYM + NPK. However, under low- and high-input treatments, yield as well as P uptake was maintained at constant levels for 35 years.During the same period, high yield levels and P uptake were maintained under the C0 NP, C0 NPK,and C1 NPK treatments. These are unique characteristics of a tropical flooded ecosystem, which is a self-sustaining system for rice production. The Fe–P fraction was highest compared to the Ca–P and Al–P fractions after 42 years of fertilizer application and was significantly higher under FYM + NPK treatment. The P adsorption capacity of soil was highest under the low-input treatment and lowest under long-term balanced fertilization(FYM + NPK). In contrast, P desorption capacity was highest under NPK and lowest in the control treatment. 15Genetic Relationship and Structure Analysis of Root Growth Angle for Improvement of Drought Avoidance in Early and Mid-Early Maturing Rice Genotypes显示文摘Deeper rooting 1(Dro1)and Deeper rooting 2(Dro2)are the QTLs that contribute considerably to root growth angle assisting in deeper rooting of rice plant.In the present study,a set of 348 genotypes were shortlisted from rice germplasm based on root angle study.Screening results of the germplasm lines under drought stress identified 25 drought tolerant donor lines based on leaf rolling,leaf drying,spikelet fertility and single plant yield.A panel containing 101 genotypes was constituted based on screening results and genotyped using Dro1 and Dro2 markers.Structure software categorized the genotypes into four sub-populations with different fixation index values for root growth angle.The clustering analysis and principal coordinate analysis could differentiate the genotypes with or without deeper rooting trait.The dendrogram constructed based on the molecular screening for deep rooting QTLs showed clear distinction between the rainfed upland cultivars and irrigated genotypes.Eleven genotypes,namely Dular,Tepiboro,Surjamukhi,Bamawpyan,N22,Dinorado,Karni,Kusuma,Bowdel,Lalsankari and Laxmikajal,possessed both the QTLs,whereas 67 genotypes possessed only Dro1.The average angle of Dro positive genotypes ranged from 82.7°to 89.7°.These genotypes possessing the deeper rooting QTLs can be taken as donor lines to be used in marker-assisted breeding programs.Elssa PANDIT Rajendra Kumar PANDA Auromeera SAHOO Dipti Ranjan PANI Sharat Kumar PRADHAN 2020Rice science2020,27,2:4

17Identification of Protein-Coding Regions in DNA Sequences Using A Time-Frequency Filtering Approach显示文摘Accurate identification of protein-coding regions (exons) in DNA sequences has been a challenging task in bioinformatics. Particularly the coding regions have a 3-base periodicity, which forms the basis of all exon identification methods. Many signal processing tools and techniques have been applied successfully for the identification task but still improvement in this direction is needed. In this paper, we have introduced a new promising model-independent time-frequency filtering technique based on S-transform for accurate identification of the coding regions. The S-transform is a powerful linear time-frequency representation useful for filtering in time-frequency domain. The potential of the proposed technique has been assessed through simulation study and the results obtained have been compared with the existing methods using standard datasets. 18Review of materials used in laser-aided additive manufacturing processes to produce metallic products显示文摘Rapid prototyping (RP) or layered manufacturing (LM) technologies have been extensively used to manufacture prototypes composed mainly of plastics, polymers, paper, and wax due to the short product development time and low costs of these technologies. However, such technologies, with the exception of selective laser melting and sintering, are not used to fabricate metallic products because of the resulting poor life, short cycle, poor surface finish, and low structural integrity of the fabricated parts. The properties endowed by these parts do not match those of functional parts. Therefore, extensive research has been conducted to develop new additive manufacturing (AM) technologies by extending existing RP technologies. Several AM technologies have been developed for the fabrication of metallic objects. These technologies utilize materials, such as Ni-, A1-, and Ti-based alloys and stainless steel powders, to fabricate high-quality functional components. The present work reviews the type of materials used in laserbased AM processes for the manufacture of metallic products. The advantages and disadvantages of processes and different materials are summarized, and future research directions are discussed in the final section. 20Textural and geochemical characteristics of off shore sediment of North Bay of Bengal:A statistical approach for marine metal pollution显示文摘Metal pollution study on sediments of North Bay of Bengal sediments presented in this paper is based on existing Lithostratigraphy of upstream,mineralogy and geochemical analysis of 42 sediment samples.The statistical analysis identifies the metal pollution as well as its apparent source in the off shore regions.Samples were analyzed for grain size,organic content and heavy metals(Fe,Mn,Cr,Cu,Ni,Pb,Cd,Zn and Co) using the sequential extraction method to evaluate geochemical processes and pollution load.In an effort to surmise anthropogenic input,several approaches including classification by quantitative indexes such as enrichment factor,contamination factor,degree of pollution,pollution load index and geo accumulation index,were attempted.Metal speciation results indicate high%of Cd in exchangeable fraction of Mahanadi transect sediments where as a considerable amount of oxidizable fraction of Cr was detected at Dhamra.Quantitative indexes place North Bay of Bengal under moderately polluted zone due to high level of Cd.Normalization of metals to Fe indicated relatively high enrichment factors for Cd and Cr.Factor analysis identified seven possible types of geochemical associations where sediment pH plays a major role for the heavy metal mobility.The higher Cd concentration in exchangeable fraction as well as the higher EF for Cd and Cr present in sediment may pose a risk of secondary water pollution under slightest disturbance in the geo-chemistry of sediments.Comparison study with available data of near costal zones and upstream stratigraphy revealed that open cast mining,overburden dumping,mineral based industrial effluents were the major source of pollution for catchment area contamination.Bay of Bengal is likely to face a serious threat of metal pollution with the present deposition rates unless rigorous pollution control norms are applied.Sanghamitra Palleyi Sabnam Banoo Rabi Narayan Kar Chitta Ranjan Panda 2015International Journal of Sediment Research2015,30,3:3
