1Association between TNF-a and IL-1β genotypes vs Helicobacter pylori infection in Indonesia显示文摘AIM:To investigate the correlation between the Helicobacter pylori(H.pylori)infection and host genetic background of healthy populations in Indonesia.METHODS:In March 2007,epidemiological studies were undertaken on the general population of a city in Indonesia(Mataram,Lombok).The participants included 107 men and 187 women,whose ages ranged from6 to 74 years old,with an average age of 34.0(±14.4)(±SD).The H.pylori of subject by UBT method determination,and through the polymerase chain reaction with confronting two-pair primers(PCR-CTPP)method parsing the single nucleotide polymorphism of interleukin(IL)-8,IL-4,IL-1β,CD14,tumor necrosis factor(TNF-a)and tyrosine-protein phosphates non-receptor type 11(PTPN11)genotypes.The experimental data were analyzed by the statistical software SAS.RESULTS:The H.pylori infection rates in the healthy Indonesian population studied were 8.4%for men and12.8%for women;no obvious differences were noted for H.pylori infection rates by sex or age.TC genotypes of IL-4,TC and CC genotypes of TNF-a,and GA genotypes of PTPN11,were higher in frequency.Both CC and TC genotype of TNF-a T-1031C loci featured higher expressions in the healthy Indonesian population Indonesia studied of(OR=1.99;95%CI:0.67-5.89)and(OR=1.66;95%CI:0.73-3.76),respectively.C allele of IL-1βT-31C gene locus was at a higher risk(OR=1.11;95%CI:0.70-1.73)of H.pylori infection,but no statistical significance was found in our study.CONCLUSION:We reveal that the association between the TNF-a and IL-1βgenotypes may be the susceptibility of H.pylori in the studied population.Yang Zhao Jing-Wen Wang Tsutomu Tanaka Akihiro Hosono Ryosuke Ando Shinkan Tokudome Soeripto FX Ediati Triningsih Tegu Triono Suwignyo Sumoharjo EY Wenny Astuti Achwan Stephanus Gunawan Yu-Min Li 2013World Journal of Gastroenterology2013,19,46:5

5Formidable females redux:male social integration into female networks and the value of dynamic multilayer networks显示文摘The development of multilayer network techniques is a boon for researchers who wish to understand how different interaction layers might influence each other,and how these in turn might influence group dynamics.Here,we investigate how integration between male and female grooming and aggression interaction networks influences male power trajectories in vervet monkeys Chlorocebus pygerythrus.Our previous analyses of this phenomenon used a monolayer approach,and our aim here is to extend these analyses using a dynamic multilayer approach.To do so,we constructed a temporal series of male and female interaction layers.We then used a multivariate multilevel autoregression model to compare cross-lagged associations between a male's centrality in the female grooming layer and changes in male Elo ratings.Our results confirmed our original findings:changes in male centrality within the female grooming network were weakly but positively tied to changes in their Elo ratings.However,the multilayer network approach offered additional insights into this social process,identifying how changes in a male's centrality cascade through the other network layers.This dynamic view indicates that the changes in Elo ratings are likely to be short-lived,but that male centrality within the female network had a much stronger impact throughout the multilayer network as a whole,especially on reducing intermale aggression(i.e.,aggression directed by males toward other males).We suggest that multilayer social network approaches can take advantage of increased amounts of social data that are more commonly collected these days,using a variety of methods.Such data are inherently multilevel and multilayered,and thus offer the ability to quantify more precisely the dynamics of animal social behaviors.Tyler R.BONNELL ChloéVILETTE Christopher YOUNG Stephanus Peter HENZI ouise BARRETT 2021Current Zoology2021,67,1:1

15Poly(lactic acid)-starch/Expandable Graphite (PLA-starch/EG) Flame Retardant Composites显示文摘This work reports on the effect of commercial expandable graphite(EG)on the flammability and thermal decomposition properties of PLA-starch blend.The PLA-starch/EG composites were prepared by melt-mixing and their thermal stability,volatile pyrolysis products and flammability characteristics were investigated.The char residues of the composites,after combustion in a cone calorimeter,were analyzed with environmental scanning electron microscopy(ESEM).The thermal decomposition stability of the composites improved in the presence of EG.However,the char content was less than expected as per the combination of the wt%EG added into PLA-starch and the%residue of PLA-starch.The flammability performance of the PLA-starch/EG composites improved,especially at 15 wt%EG content,due to a thick and strong worm-like char structure.The peak heat release rate(PHRR)improved by 74%,the total smoke production(TSP)by 40%and the specific extinction area(SEA)by 55%.The improvements are attributed to the ability of EG to exfoliate at increased temperatures during which time three effects occurred:(i)cooling due to an endothermic exfoliation process,(ii)dilution due to release of H2O,SO2 and CO2 gases,and (iii)formation of a protective intumescent char layer.However,the CO and CO2 yields were found to be unfavorably high due to the presence of EG.Mfiso Emmanuel Mngomezulu Adriaan Stephanus Luyt Steve Anthony Chapple Maya Jacob John 2018Journal of Renewable Materials2018,6,1:1

19Biofunctionalized all-polymer photonic lab on a chip with integrated solid-state light emitter显示文摘A photonic lab on a chip(PhLOC),comprising a solid-state light emitter(SSLE)aligned with a biofunctionalized optofluidic multiple internal reflection(MIR)system,is presented.The SSLE is obtained by filling a microfluidic structure with a phenyltrimethoxysilane(PhTMOS)aqueous sol solution containing a fluorophore organic dye.After curing,the resulting xerogel solid structure retains the emitting properties of the fluorophore,which is evenly distributed in the xerogel matrix.Photostability studies demonstrate that after a total dose(at λ5365 nm)greater than 24 J cm^(-2),the xerogel emission decay is only 4.1%.To re-direct the emitted light,the SSLE includes two sets of air mirrors that surround the xerogel.Emission mapping of the SSLE demonstrates that alignment variations of 150 mm(between the SSLE and the external pumping light source)provide fluctuations in emitted light smaller than 5%.After this verification,the SSLE is monolithically implemented with a MIR,forming the PhLOC.Its performance is assessed by measuring quinolone yellow,obtaining a limit of detection(LOD)of(0.6060.01)mM.Finally,the MIR is selectively biofunctionalized with horseradish peroxidase(HRP)for the detection of hydrogen peroxide(H_(2)O_(2))target analyte,obtaining a LOD of(0.760.1)μM for H_(2)O_(2),confirming,for the first time,that solid-state xerogel-based emitters can be massively implemented in biofunctionalized PhLOCs.Andreu Llobera Joan Juvert Alfredo Gonzalez-Fernandez Bergoi Ibarlucea Ester Carregal-Romero Stephanus Buttgenbach Cesar Fernandez-Sanchez 2015Light(Science & Applications)2015,4,1:0
