| 1 | Prevalence of Atrial Fibrillation in China and Its Risk Factors显示文摘Objective To study the prevalence of atrial fibrillation(AF)and the relation with its risk factors in China.Methods A total of 19 363 participants(8635 males and 10 728 females) aged ≥35 years in geographically dispersed urban and rural regions of China were included in this cross-sectional survey.All participants received questionnaire,physical and blood examination.Echocardiography were performed for AF patients found in the survey.Results Of the 19 363 participants,199 were diagnosed with AF.The estimated age-standardized prevalence of AF was 0.78% in men and 0.76% in women.The prevalence of AF in participants aged <60 years was 0.41% in men and 0.43% in women,and was 1.83% in both men and women aged ≥60 years.About 19.0% of males and 30.9% of females with AF were diagnosed with valve disease.Age-and sex-adjusted multivariable logistic regression analysis revealed that myocardial infarction,left ventricular hypertrophy(LVH),obesity,and alcohol consumption were associated with a increased risk of AF(P<0.05).Conclusion The age standardized prevalence of AF is 0.77% in the participants enrolled in the present study.The number of AF cases aged ≥35 years is 5.26 million according to 2010 Chinese Census.Most risk factors for AF,identified mainly in Western countries,are also detected in China. | LI Ying WU Yang Feng CHEN Ke Ping LI Xian ZHANG Xing XIE Gao Qiang WANG Fang Zheng ZHANG Shu | 2013 | Biomedical and Environmental Sciences2013,26,9: | 48 |
| 2 | Maize-soybean strip intercropping: Achieved a balance between high productivity and sustainability显示文摘Intercropping is one of the most vital practice to improve land utilization rate in China that has limited arable land resource. However, the traditional intercropping systems have many disadvantages including illogical field lay-out of crops, low economic value, and labor deficiency, which cannot balance the crop production and agricultural sustainability. In view of this, we developed a novel soybean strip intercropping model using maize as the partner, the regular maize-soybean strip intercropping mainly popularized in northern China and maize-soybean relay-strip intercropping principally extended in southwestern China. Compared to the traditional maize-soybean intercropping systems, the main innovation of field lay-out style in our present intercropping systems is that the distance of two adjacent maize rows are shrunk as a narrow strip, and a strip called wide strip between two adjacent narrow strips is expanded reserving for the growth of two or three rows of soybean plants. The distance between outer rows of maize and soybean strips are expanded enough for light use efficiency improvement and tractors working in the soybean strips. Importantly, optimal cultivar screening and increase of plant density achieved a high yield of both the two crops in the intercropping systems and increased land equivalent ratio as high as 2.2. Annually alternative rotation of the adjacent maize-and soybean-strips increased the grain yield of next seasonal maize, improved the absorption of nitrogen, phosphorus, and potasium of maize, while prevented the continuous cropping obstacles. | 7 | Large Scale Photochemical Synthesis of M@TiO_(2) Nanocomposites (M = Ag, Pd, Au, Pt) and Their Optical Properties, CO Oxidation Performance, and Antibacterial Effect显示文摘Well-dispersed M@TiO_(2)(M=Ag,Pd,Au,Pt)nanocomposite particles with a diameter of 200-400 nm can be synthesized on a large scale by a clean photochemical route which does not require any additives using spherical rutile nanoparticles as a support.The sizes of Pt,Au,and Pd nanoparticles formed on the surface of TiO_(2) particles are about 1 nm,5 nm,and 5 nm,respectively,and the diameter of Ag nanoparticles is in the range 2-20 nm.Moreover,the noble metal nanoparticles have good dispersity on the particles of the TiO_(2) support,resulting in excellent catalytic activities.Complete conversion in catalytic CO oxidation is reached at temperatures as low as 333 and 363 K,respectively,for Pt@TiO_(2) and Pd@TiO_(2) catalysts.In addition,the antibacterial effects of the as-synthesized TiO_(2) nanoparticles,silver nanoparticles,and Au@TiO_(2) and Ag@TiO_(2) nanocomposites have been tested against Gram-negative Escherichia coli(E.coli)bacteria.The results demonstrate that the presence of the TiO_(2) matrix enhances the antibacterial effect of silver nanoparticles,and the growth of E.coli can be completely inhibited even if the concentration of Ag in Ag@TiO_(2) nanocomposite is very low(10μg/mL). | Shao Feng Chen Jian Ping Li Kun Qian Wei Ping Xu Yang Lu Wei Xin Huang Shu Hong Yu | 2010 | Nano Research2010,3,4: | 20 |
| 8 | Virus-induced accumulation of intracellular bile acids activates the TGR5-β-arrestin-SRC axis to enable innate antiviral immunity显示文摘The mechanisms on metabolic regulation of immune responses are still elusive. We show here that viral infection induces immediate-early NF-kB activation independent of viral nucleic acid-triggered signaling, which triggers a rapid transcriptional induction of bile acid (BA) transporter and rate-limiting biosynthesis enzymes as well as accumulation of intracellular BAs in divergent cell types. The accumulated intracellular BAs activate SRC kinase via the TGR5-GRK-卩-arrestin axis, which mediates tyrosine phosphorylation of multiple antiviral signaling components including RIG-I, VISA/MAVS, MITA/STING, TBK1 and IRF3. The tyrosine phosphorylation of these components by SRC conditions for efficient innate antiviral immune response. Consistently, TGR5 deficiency impairs innate antiviral immunity, whereas BAs exhibit potent antiviral activity in wild-type but not TGR5-deficient cells and mice. | 9 | An Integrated Analysis of Risk Factors of Cognitive Impairment in Patients with Severe Carotid Artery Stenosis显示文摘Objective To investigate cognitive dysfunction in patients with carotid artery stenosis(CAS) and potential risk factors related to cognitive-especially memory-dysfunction. Methods Forty-seven patients with carotid artery stenosis were recruited into our study cohort. The Mini-Mental State Examination(MMSE) and the Montreal Cognitive Assessment(MoCA) were adopted to assess cognitive function, the Wechsler Memory Scale(WMS) to assess memory function, high-resolution MRI and enhanced ultrasound to evaluate carotid plaques, and computed tomography perfusion(CTP) imaging to evaluate intracranial blood perfusion. Single-factor analysis and multiple-factor regression analysis were used to analyze potential risk factors of cognitive impairment. Results Mini-Mental State Examination test results showed that 22 patients had cognitive impairment, and MoCA test results showed that 10 patients had cognitive impairment. Analysis of various risk factors indicated that the average memory quotient of female patients was higher than that of males(P = 0.024). The cognitive and memory performance of those with an educational background above high school were significantly better than those of participants with high school or lower(P = 0.045). Patients with abnormal intracranial perfusion performed worse on the MMSE test(P = 0.024), and their WMS scores were significantly lower(P = 0.007). The MMSE scores and the memory quotients were significantly lower in patients with a history of cerebral infarction(MMSE, P = 0.047, memory quotient score, P = 0.018). Conclusion A history of cerebral infarction and abnormal cerebral perfusion are associated with decline in overall cognitive function and memory in patients with carotid stenosis. | 10 | A Theoretical Framework and Methodology for Urban Activity Spatial Structure in E-society: Empirical Evidence for Nanjing City, China显示文摘The existing researches on the influence of information and communication technology(ICT) are mainly focused on human activity, whilst with few efforts on urban space. In the e-society, the widespread adoption of ICT devices not only affects almost every aspect of people′s daily life and thereby reshapes the spatial development of regions and cities, but also generates a large amount of real-time activity data with location information. These georeferenced data, however, have relatively recently attracted attention from geographers. Adapted from Lynch′s framework based on people′s perceptions, this paper proposes a framework of urban spatial structure based on people′s actual activity, including five elements, namely activity path, activity node, central activity zone(CAZ), activity district, and activity edge. In the empirical study, by using one week′s check-in tweets(from February 25 to March 3 in 2013) collected in Nanjing City, the five elements are recognized and analyzed. | 11 | Minimally invasive surgery for gastric cancer: A comparison between robotic, laparoscopic and open surgery显示文摘AIM To investigate the role of minimally invasive surgery for gastric cancer and determine surgical, clinical, and oncological outcomes.METHODS This is a propensity score-matched case-control study, comparing three treatment arms: robotic gastrectomy(RG), laparoscopic gastrectomy(LG), open gastrectomy(OG). Data collection started after sharing a specific study protocol. Data were recorded through a tailored and protected web-based system. Primary outcomes: harvested lymph nodes, estimated blood loss, hospital stay, complications rate. Among the secondary outcomes, there are: operative time, R0 resections, POD of mobilization, POD of starting liquid diet and soft solid diet. The analysis includes the evaluation of type and grade of postoperative complications. Detailed information of anastomotic leakages is also provided.RESULTS The present analysis was carried out of 1026 gastrectomies. To guarantee homogenous distribution of cases, patients in the RG, LG and OG groups were 1:1:2 matched using a propensity score analysis with a caliper = 0.2. The successful matching resulted in a total sample of 604 patients(RG = 151; LG = 151; OG = 302). The three groups showed no differences in all baseline patients characteristics, type of surgery(P = 0.42) and stage of the disease(P = 0.16). Intraoperative blood loss was significantly lower in the LG(95.93 ± 119.22) and RG(117.91 ± 68.11) groups compared to the OG(127.26 ± 79.50, P = 0.002). The mean number of retrieved lymph nodes was similar between the RG(27.78 ± 11.45), LG(24.58 ± 13.56) and OG(25.82 ± 12.07) approach. A benefit in favor of the minimally invasive approaches was found in the length of hospital stay(P < 0.0001). A similar complications rate was found(P = 0.13). The leakage rate was not different(P = 0.78) between groups.CONCLUSION Laparoscopic and robotic surgery can be safely performed and proposed as possible alternative to open surgery. | 12 | High-sum-rate beamformers for multi-pair two-way relay networks with amplify-and-forward relaying strategy显示文摘In multi-pair two-way relay networks,the control over inter-pair-interference is a challenging problem.When mobile stations(MSs)cooperate fully,to achieve the sum capacity of networks and at the same time completely remove the inter-pair-interference,a singular value decomposition(SVD)based beamforming scheme at relay station(RS)is established where SVD beamformers are applied over both uplink and downlink channels,respectively.To avoid any cooperation among users,an efcient beamforming scheme is proposed.This scheme uses the Max-SINR based receive beamformer at RS in uplink channel and the Max-SLNR based transmit precoder at RS in downlink channel.It omits interference(uplink)and leakage(donwlink)inside each pair of users due to their abilities of self-interference cancellation.This beamforming scheme provides an analytical solution like some well-known linear beamformers such as zero-forcing,block diagonalization,etc.From simulation,we find:the proposed SVD shows an excellent sum-rate performance at the expense of a large cooperation overhead at MSs and can be used as a tighter upper bound of sum-rate;the proposed scheme of Max-SINR beamformer plus Max-SLNR precoder performs much better on sum-rate than the ZF-based and the BD-based schemes by using almost the same computational amount. | SHU Feng LU YaZhe CHEN Yu YOU XiaoHu WANG JianXin WANG Mao SHENG WeiXing CHEN Qian | 2014 | Science China(Information Sciences)2014,57,2: | 15 |

Methods Sixty male Kunming mice received the following treatments by gavage: normal saline solution(control); arsenic trioxide(ATO; 4 mg/kg); GSPE(400 mg/kg); ATO+GSPE(100 mg/kg); ATO+GSPE(200 mg/kg) and ATO+GSPE(400 mg/kg). Thereafter, the mice were sacrificed and weighed, and the testis was examined for pathological changes. Nuclear factor(erythroid-derived 2)-like 2(Nrf2), heme oxygenase 1(HO1), glutathione S-transferase(GST), NAD(P)H dehydrogenase, and quinone 1(NQO1) expression in the testis was detected by real-time PCR. Superoxide dismutase(SOD), glutathione(GSH), total antioxidative capability(T-AOC), malondialdehyde(MDA), 8-hydroxydeoxyguanosine(8-OHd G), and reproductive indexes were analyzed. Results ATO-treated mice showed a significantly decreased sperm count and testis somatic index and activity levels of SOD, GSH, and T-AOC than control group. Compared to the ATO-treated group, ATO +GSPE group showed recovery of the measured parameters. Mice treated with ATO+high-dose GSPE showed the highest level of m RNA expression of Nrf2, HO, NQO1, and GST. | 19 | Robotic gastrectomy with transvaginal specimen extraction for female gastric cancer patients显示文摘AIM: To describe the application of complete robotic gastrectomy with transvaginal specimen extraction(TVSE) for gastric cancer patients.METHODS: Between July and November 2014, eight female patients who were diagnosed with gastric adenocarcinoma underwent a TVSE following a full robot-sewn gastrectomy. According to the tumor location, the patients were allocated to two different groups; two patients received robotic total gastrectomy with TVSE and the other six received robotic distal gastrectomy with TVSE.RESULTS: Surgical procedures were successfully performed in all eight cases without conversion. The mean age was 55.3(range, 42-69) years, and the mean body mass index was 23.2(range, 21.6-26.0) kg/m2. The mean total operative time and blood loss were 224(range, 200-298) min and 62.5(range, 50-150) m L, respectively. The mean postoperative hospital stay was 3.6(range, 3-5) d. The mean number of lymph nodes resected was 23.6(range, 17-27). None was readmitted within 30 d of postoperation. The mission aims at determining the equation of state of matter at supra-nuclear density, measuring effects of QED, and understanding the dynamics of matter in strong-field gravity. In addition to investigating fundamental physics, eXTP will be a very powerful observatory for astrophysics that will provide observations of unprecedented quality on a variety of galactic and extragalactic objects.
