1A Chromosome-Scale Genome Assembly of Paper Mulberry(Bmussonetia papyrifera)Provides New Insights into Its Forage and Papermaking Usage显示文摘Paper mulberry(Broussonetia papyrifera)is a well-known woody tree historically used for Cai Lun papermaking,one of the four great inventions of ancient China.More recently,Paper mulberry has also been used as forage to address the shortage of feedstuff because of its digestible crude fiber and high protein contents.In this study,we obtained a chromosome-scale genome assembly for Paper mulberry using integrated approaches,including Illumina and PacBio sequencing platform as well as Hi-C,optical,and genetic maps.The assembled Paper mulberry genome consists of 386.83 Mb,which is close to the estimated size,and 99.25%(383.93 Mb)of the assembly was assigned to 13 pseudochromosomes.Comparative genomic analysis revealed the expansion and contraction in the flavonoid and lignin biosynthetic gene families,respectively,accounting for the enhanced flavonoid and decreased lignin biosynthesis in Paper mulberry.Moreover,the increased ratio of syringyl-lignin to guaiacyl-lignin in Paper mulberry underscores its suitability for use in medicine,forage,papermaking,and barkcloth making.We also identified the rootassociated microbiota of Paper mulberry and found that Pseudomonas and Rhizobia were enriched in its roots and may provide the source of nitrogen for its stems and leaves via symbiotic nitrogen fixation.Collectively,these results suggest that Paper mulberry might have undergone adaptive evolution and recruited nitrogen-fixing microbes to promote growth by enhancing flavonoid production and altering lignin monomer composition.Our study provides significant insights into genetic basis of the usefulness of Paper mulberry in papermaking and barkcloth making,and as forage.These insights will facilitate further domestication and selection as well as industrial utilization of Paper mulberry worldwide.Xianjun Peng Hui Liu Peilin Chen Feng Tang Yanmin Hu Fenfen Wang Zhi Pi Meiling Zhao Naizhi Chen Hui Chen Xiaokang Zhang Xueqing Yan Min Liu Xiaojun Fu Guofeng Zhao Pu Yao Lili Wang He Dai Xuming Li Wei Xiong Wencai Xu Hongkun Zheng Haiyan Yu Shihua Shen 2019Molecular Plant2019,12,5:18

3Investigation of Portevin–Le Chatelier Band Strain and Elastic Shrinkage in Al-Based Alloys Associated with Mg Contents显示文摘The Portevin–Le Chatelier(PLC) effect in Al–2.30wt%Mg, Al–4.57wt%Mg and Al–6.91wt%Mg alloys has been investigated at various applied strain rates at room temperature in this study. Three-dimensional digital image correlation(3D-DIC) technique was applied to obtaining the further insight into the spatiotemporal characteristics, in particular the influence of Mg content on deformation behaviors. Mg content has a pronounced effect on serration characteristics, including the serration type and amplitude; Mg content tends to weaken the spatial correlation of the propagative bands. Additionally, the serration amplitude linearly increases with the maximum PLC band strain; high Mg content generates a higher PLC band strain at a given serration amplitude compared with low Mg content. 4Experimental investigation of a Portevin-Le Chatelier band in Ni–Co-based superalloys in relation toγ’precipitates at 500℃显示文摘The macroscopically localized deformation behaviors of Ni–Co-based superalloys with differentγ’precipitate content were investigated at 500?C and 1×10-4 s-1 via an in situ method namely,digital image correlation(DIC).The DIC results showed that the serrated flow of the stress–strain curves was accompanied by localized deformation of the specimens.The fracture morphology was characterized mainly by transgranular fracture with numerous dimples in the lowγ’content alloy,and intergranular fracture with large fracture section in the highγ’content alloy.The Portevin–Le Chatelier(PLC)effect occurred in the investigated Ni–Co-based superalloys.Furthermore,the localized deformation of the highγ’content alloy was more severe than that of the lowγ’content alloy,and the band width was slightly larger.Moreover,for the first-time ever,a special propagation feature,namely±60?zigzag bands characterized by head-to-tail connections,was observed in the highγ’content alloy.Yanke Liu Yulong Cai Chenggang Tian Guoliang Zhang Guoming Han Shihua Fu Chuanyong Cui Qingchuan Zhang 2020Journal of Materials Science & Technology2020,47,14:2
5Complexity analysis of the Portevin-Le Chatelier in an Al alloy atdifferent tem peratures显示文摘The complexity of the Portevin-Le Chatelier(PLC)effect in an Al alloy at different temperatures was ana-lyzed by modified multiscale entropy.The results show that three evolutions of entropy with scale factor,i.e.,near zero,monotonically increasing and peak-shape,were observed corresponding to the smoothcurves,type-A serrations and type-B/-C serrations,respectively.The scale factor at the peak was one-third of the average serration period.The sample entropy increased initially and then decreased withtemperature,which was opposite to the critical strain.It is also suggested that the type-A serrations cor-responded to self-organized criticality and the type-B/-C serrations corresponded to chaos through theevolutions of entropy with scale factor.Jianfei Xu Guoxiong Chen Shihua Fu 2021Theoretical & Applied Mechanics Letters2021,11,2:1

8Mutually exclusive epigenetic modification on SIX6 with hypermethylation for precancerous stage and metastasis emergence tracing显示文摘Dear Editor,Aberrant DNA methylation gets involved in cancer initiation,progression,and recurrence,which in turn makes it an ideal cancer biomarker.Various methylation markers or their panels have been developed in diverse cancer types.However,the model-constructing based marker mining strategy and incompatibility of application have greatly impeded their ways to clinic.Thus,single methylation marker applicable to all/most cancer types and multiple clinical scenarios is desperately needed.The hope came from the unexpected observation that HIST1H4F was universally hypermethylated in all 17 cancer types;thus,we raised the concept of“Universal Cancer Only Marker(UCOM)”and established a paradigm for discovery and clinical application of UCOM.1 Recently,a novel UCOM,hypermethylated PCDHGB7,was identified and found to advance cervical cancer(CC)screening to the precancerous stage.2 During the screening of UCOM,we discerned a bunch of cancer cell-differentially methylated regions.1 Among them,sine oculis(SIX)homeobox family of transcription factors,which were found to function as tumorigenesis regulator by promoting epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition and metastasis recently in addition to their traditional roles in tissue formation and organogenesis,3 sparked our special attention.Herein,we interrogate whether SIX6 methylation could serve as a novel UCOM and its potential applications.Shihua Dong Zhicong Yang Peng Xu Wanxiang Zheng Baolong Zhang Fangqiu Fu Zhanrui Mao Jianlin Yuan Haiquan Chen Wenqiang Yu 2022Signal Transduction and Targeted Therapy2022,7,8:1

10The influence of temperature on the PLC effect in Al-Mg alloy显示文摘An experimental investigation of the influence of temperature on the Portevin-Le Chatelier(PLC) effect in Al-Mg alloy is conducted.Under a certain strain rate,the PLC effect is present in the temperature range of 223-328 K.The serration amplitude increases monotonically with increasing temperature,whereas the behaviors of the serration period and the critical strain with temperature include a descending branch under corresponding low temperature range and an ascending branch under corresponding high temperature range.The analysis in relation with dynamic strain aging(DSA) indicates that the temperature plays an important role in the PLC effect by dictating the solubility and the diffusibility of solute atoms.Both the concentration and the diffusibility of solute atoms contribute to increasing the serration amplitude.Under the descending branch temperature range,the serration period mainly depends on the preparation phase and the dominant factor of critical strain is the velocity of dislocations.However,under the ascending branch temperature range,the serration period mainly depends on the pinning phase and the dominant factor of critical strain is the applied stress required for unpinning.FU ShiHua ZHANG QingChuan HU Qi GONG Ming CAO PengTao LIU HaoWen 2011Science China(Technological Sciences)2011,54,6:0
