1Prediction of vibrations induced by trains on line 8 of Beijing metro显示文摘This paper mainly discusses the problem of ground-borne vibrations due to the planned line 8 of Beijing metro which passes under the National Measurement Laboratory.A lot of vibration sensitive equipments are placed in the laboratory.It is therefore necessary to study the impact of vibrations induced by metro trains on sensitive equipments and important to propound a feasible vibration mitigation measure.Based on the coupled periodic finite element-boundary element (FE-BE) method,a 3D dynamic track-tunnel-soil interaction model for metro line 8 has been used to predict vibrations in the free field induced by trains running at variable speeds between 30 km/h and 80 km/h.Four types of track structures commonly used on the Beijing metro network have been considered:(1) high resilience direct fixation fasteners,(2) Vanguard fasteners,(3) a floating slab track and (4) a floating ladder track.For each of these track types,the vibration isolation efficiency has been compared.The results of the numerical study can be used to predict vibrations in nearby buildings and to decide upon effective vibration countermeasures.De-yun DING Shashank GUPTA Wei-ning LIU Geert LOMBAERT Geert DEGRANDE 2010Journal of Zhejiang University-Science A(Applied Physics & Engineering)2010,11,4:4

3Self-referenced measurements of the dielectric properties of metals using terahertz time-domain spectroscopy via the excitation of surface plasmon-polaritons显示文摘We present experimental measurements that show direct determination of the dielectric properties of various metals relevant to plasmonics.In contrast to traditional measurements that typically rely on transmission and reflectance measurements,we launch surface plasmon-polaritons on a variety of different substrates and measure the propagation properties using terahertz time-domain spectroscopy.Surprisingly,we find that the extracted values for the dielectric constant for these metals differ by orders of magnitude from published data.In order to validate the obtained results,we separately measure the 1∕e decay length,both along the propagation direction and normal to the metal surface,and show that the results are fully self-consistent with experimental data.The generality of the measurement technique makes it a useful tool to estimate the properties not only of planar conducting substrates but also a wide variety of more complex plasmonic structures.Shashank Pandey Shuchang Liu Barun Gupta Ajay Nahata 2013Photonics Research2013,1,4:2

7Resistance to second generation antiandrogens in prostate cancer: pathways and mechanisms显示文摘Androgen deprivation therapy targeting the androgens/androgen receptor(AR)signaling continues to be the mainstay treatment of advanced-stage prostate cancer.The use of second-generation antiandrogens,such as abiraterone acetate and enzalutamide,has improved the survival of prostate cancer patients;however,a majority of these patients progress to castration-resistant prostate cancer(CRPC).The mechanisms of resistance to antiandrogen treatments are complex,including specific mutations,alternative splicing,and amplification of oncogenic proteins resulting in dysregulation of various signaling pathways.In this review,we focus on the major mechanisms of acquired resistance to second generation antiandrogens,including AR-dependent and AR-independent resistance mechanisms as well as other resistance mechanisms leading to CRPC emergence.Evolving knowledge of resistance mechanisms to AR targeted treatments will lead to additional research on designing more effective therapies for advanced-stage prostate cancer.Shiv Verma Kumari Sunita Prajapati Prem Prakash Kushwaha Mohd Shuaib Atul Kumar Singh Shashank Kumar Sanjay Gupta 2020Cancer Drug Resistance2020,3,4:0
8Role of prostate cancer stem-like cells in the development of antiandrogen resistance显示文摘Androgen deprivation therapy(ADT)is the standard of care treatment for advance stage prostate cancer.Treatment with ADT develops resistance in multiple ways leading to the development of castration-resistant prostate cancer(CRPC).Present research establishes that prostate cancer stem-like cells(CSCs)play a central role in the development of treatment resistance followed by disease progression.Prostate CSCs are capable of self-renewal,differentiation,and regenerating tumor heterogeneity.The stemness properties in prostate CSCs arise due to various factors such as androgen receptor mutation and variants,epigenetic and genetic modifications leading to alteration in the tumor microenvironment,changes in ATP-binding cassette(ABC)transporters,and adaptations in molecular signaling pathways.ADT reprograms prostate tumor cellular machinery leading to the expression of various stem cell markers such as Aldehyde Dehydrogenase 1 Family Member A1(ALDH1A1),Prominin 1(PROM1/CD133),Indian blood group(CD44),SRY-Box Transcription Factor 2(Sox2),POU Class 5 Homeobox 1(POU5F1/Oct4),Nanog and ABC transporters.These markers indicate enhanced self-renewal and stemness stimulating CRPC evolution,metastatic colonization,and resistance to antiandrogens.In this review,we discuss the role of ADT in prostate CSCs differentiation and acquisition of CRPC,their isolation,identification and characterization,as well as the factors and pathways contributing to CSCs expansion and therapeutic opportunities.Prem Prakash Kushwaha Shiv Verma Shashank Kumar Sanjay Gupta 2022Cancer Drug Resistance2022,5,2:0
9A Micro-Structure Dependent Buckling Analysis of Partially-Cracked Generally Orthotropic Plate under Thermal Domain显示文摘In this work,a non-classical analytical approach for buckling analysis of partially cracked generally orthotropic plate is proposed under the thermal domain.The derivation for the governing equation is based on the non-classical approach using Kirchhoff’s thin plate theory and the modified couple stress theory.The effect of fibre orientation on critical buckling temperature is incorporated by considering the coefficients of mutual influence.Line spring model is applied with some modifications to formulate all the crack terms while the thermal effects are introduced in form of thermal in-plane moments and forces.The final governing equation is solved using Galerkin’s method and the relation for critical buckling temperature as affected by fibre orientation is obtained.The variation of critical buckling temperature as affected by fibre orientation for different values of crack length,crack location and length scale parameter is presented.Also,the effect of fibre orientation on fundamental frequency under the thermal domain is analysed.Ankur Gupta Shashank Soni N.K.Jain 2023Advances in Applied Mathematics and Mechanics2023,15,1:0
10Distally based peroneus brevis muscle flap: A single centre experience显示文摘Purpose: Defects aro und the distal one third of the leg and ankle are difficult to man age by con servative measures or simple split thickness skin graft. Distally based peroneus brevis muscle flap is a well described flap for such defects. Methods: This is a retrospective analysis conducted on 25 patients with soft tissue and bony defects of distal third of lower leg and an kle, which were treated using distally based per on eus brevis muscle flap from January 2013 to January 2018. Information regarding patient demographics, etiology, size and location of defects and complications were collected. All patients were followed up for at least 3 months after surgery. Results: There were 21 males and 4 females with the mean age of 39 (5-76) years. The most comm on cause of injuries was road traffic accident, followed by complicated open injury. The average size of defects was 20 (4—50) cm^2. The mean operating time was 75 (60-90) min for flap harvest and inset. We had no patient with complete loss of the flap. Five patients (20%) had marginal necrosis of the flap and two patie nts have graft loss due to un derlyi ng hematoma and required sec on dary split thickness skin grafting. Conclusion: The distally based peroneus brevis muscle flap is a safe optio n w 让h reliable an atomy for small to moderate sized defects following low velocity injury around the ankle. 11An Improved Methodology to Overcome Key Issues in Human Fecal Metagenomic DNA Extraction显示文摘Microbes are ubiquitously distributed in nature, and recent culture-independent studies have highlighted the significance of gut microbiota in human health and disease. Fecal DNA is the primary source for the majority of human gut microbiome studies. However, further improvement is needed to obtain fecal metagenomic DNA with sufficient amount and good quality but low host genomic DNA contamination. In the current study, we demonstrate a quick, robust, unbiased,and cost-effective method for the isolation of high molecular weight(>23 kb) metagenomic DNA(260/280 ratio >1.8) with a good yield(55.8 ± 3.8 ng/mg of feces). We also confirm that there is very low human genomic DNA contamination(eubacterial: human genomic DNA marker genes = 2^(27.9):1) in the human feces. The newly-developed method robustly performs for fresh as well as stored fecal samples as demonstrated by 16 S r RNA gene sequencing using 454 FLX+.Moreover, 16 S r RNA gene analysis indicated that compared to other DNA extraction methods tested, the fecal metagenomic DNA isolated with current methodology retains species richnessand does not show microbial diversity biases, which is further confirmed by q PCR with a known quantity of spike-in genomes. 13Direct observation of Anderson localization in plasmonic terahertz devices显示文摘We present the first experimental observation of Anderson localization in the terahertz frequency range using plasmonic structures.To accomplish this goal,we designed THz waveguides consisting of a one-dimensional array of rectangular apertures that were fabricated in a freestanding metal foil.Disorder is introduced into the waveguide by offsetting the position of each aperture by a random distance within a prescribed range.For example,for a waveguide with apertures spaced by 250μm in a periodic waveguide,10%disorder would correspond to the apertures being shifted by a random value between±25μm along the waveguide axis.We find that for disorder levels below 25%,there is only an increase in the propagation loss along the device.However,for two specific waveguides with 25%disorder,we observe a spatially localized mode that lies just within the stop band of the device and exhibits a double-sided exponential spatial decay away from the maximum.Shashank Pandey Barun Gupta Sushil Mujumdar Ajay Nahata 2016Light(Science & Applications)2016,5,1:0
