| 1 | Novel targeting approaches and signaling pathways of colorectal cancer: An insight显示文摘Colorectal cancer(CRC) is the third most common cancer of mortality in the world. Chemotherapy based treatment leads to innumerable side effects as it delivers the anticancer drug to both normal cells besides cancer cells. Sonic Hedgehog(SHH), Wnt wingless-type mouse mammary tumor virus/β-catenin, transforming growth factor-β/SMAD, epidermal growth factor receptor and Notch are the main signaling pathways involved in the progression of CRC. Targeted therapies necessitate information regarding the particular aberrant pathways. Advancements in gene therapies have resulted in the recognition of novel therapeutic targets related with these signal-transduction cascades. CRC is a stepwise process where mutations occur over the time and activation of oncogenes and deactivation of tissue suppressor genes takes place. Genetic changes which are responsible for the induction of carcinogenesis include loss of heterozygosity in tumor suppressor genes such as adenomatous polyposis coli, mutation or deletion of genes like p53 and K-ras. Therefore, many gene-therapy approaches like gene correction, virusdirected enzyme-prodrug therapy, immunogenetic manipulation and virotherapy are currently being explored. Development of novel strategies for the safe and effective delivery of drugs to the cancerous site is the need of the hour. | 7 | Role of prostate cancer stem-like cells in the development of antiandrogen resistance显示文摘Androgen deprivation therapy(ADT)is the standard of care treatment for advance stage prostate cancer.Treatment with ADT develops resistance in multiple ways leading to the development of castration-resistant prostate cancer(CRPC).Present research establishes that prostate cancer stem-like cells(CSCs)play a central role in the development of treatment resistance followed by disease progression.Prostate CSCs are capable of self-renewal,differentiation,and regenerating tumor heterogeneity.The stemness properties in prostate CSCs arise due to various factors such as androgen receptor mutation and variants,epigenetic and genetic modifications leading to alteration in the tumor microenvironment,changes in ATP-binding cassette(ABC)transporters,and adaptations in molecular signaling pathways.ADT reprograms prostate tumor cellular machinery leading to the expression of various stem cell markers such as Aldehyde Dehydrogenase 1 Family Member A1(ALDH1A1),Prominin 1(PROM1/CD133),Indian blood group(CD44),SRY-Box Transcription Factor 2(Sox2),POU Class 5 Homeobox 1(POU5F1/Oct4),Nanog and ABC transporters.These markers indicate enhanced self-renewal and stemness stimulating CRPC evolution,metastatic colonization,and resistance to antiandrogens.In this review,we discuss the role of ADT in prostate CSCs differentiation and acquisition of CRPC,their isolation,identification and characterization,as well as the factors and pathways contributing to CSCs expansion and therapeutic opportunities. | Prem Prakash Kushwaha Shiv Verma Shashank Kumar Sanjay Gupta | 2022 | Cancer Drug Resistance2022,5,2: | 0 |
| 8 | Effect of rare earth(Nd^(3+))metal doping on structural,morphological,optical and magnetic traits of Zn-Mg nano-ferrites显示文摘Herein,we report the synthesis of Zn_(0.7)Mg_(0.3)Nd_(x)Fe_(2-x)O_(4)(where,x=0,0,0,01,0,02)ferrite nanoparticles by employing the sol-gel auto-combustion technique.The X-ray diffraction(XRD)pattern suggests the formation of a pure cubic structure,without any impurity phase,with an Fd3m space group at room temperature.With increasing doping amount,the crystallite size is reported as 35-41 nm,while the lattice parameters rise from 0.8381 to 0.8395 nm.Field emission scanning electron microscopy(FESEM)images show the formation of spherical grains with agglomerated morphology in all the samples,with grain sizes ranging from 49 to 103 nm.Energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy(EDX)and elemental mapping investigation confirm the chemical purity of all the samples.Fourier transform infrared(FTIR)analysis shows the presence of two prominent peaks around 440 and 560 cm^(-1)that correspond to the octahedral and tetrahedral positions.In addition,the existence of five Raman active vibratio nal modes in all produced specimens again confirms the structural purity of all the samples.The M-H curve shows that saturation magnetization(M_(s))first increases from 14.98 to 28.22 emu/g and then decreases to 18.98emu/g with increasing doping amount.This is due to the A-B type super-exchange interaction for the synthesized samples.The variation in coercivity(H_(c))and magnetic anisotropy(K_(1))suggest the thermal stability of all the samples and can be utilized in transformers and solenoids. | Rohit Jasrotia Nisha Kumari Ritesh Verma Suman Sachin Kumar Godara Jahangeer Ahmed Saad M.Alshehri Bidhan Pandit Sanjay Kumar Himanshi Shubham Sharma Kirti Pradip K.Maji | 2023 | Journal of Rare Earths2023,41,11: | 0 |
| 9 | Secure Rotation Invariant Face Detection System for Authentication显示文摘Biometric applications widely use the face as a component for recognition and automatic detection.Face rotation is a variable component and makes face detection a complex and challenging task with varied angles and rotation.This problem has been investigated,and a novice algorithm,namely RIFDS(Rotation Invariant Face Detection System),has been devised.The objective of the paper is to implement a robust method for face detection taken at various angle.Further to achieve better results than known algorithms for face detection.In RIFDS Polar Harmonic Transforms(PHT)technique is combined with Multi-Block Local Binary Pattern(MBLBP)in a hybrid manner.The MBLBP is used to extract texture patterns from the digital image,and the PHT is used to manage invariant rotation characteristics.In this manner,RIFDS can detect human faces at different rotations and with different facial expressions.The RIFDS performance is validated on different face databases like LFW,ORL,CMU,MIT-CBCL,JAFFF Face Databases,and Lena images.The results show that the RIFDS algorithm can detect faces at varying angles and at different image resolutions and with an accuracy of 99.9%.The RIFDS algorithm outperforms previous methods like Viola-Jones,Multi-blockLocal Binary Pattern(MBLBP),and Polar HarmonicTransforms(PHTs).The RIFDS approach has a further scope with a genetic algorithm to detect faces(approximation)even from shadows. | Amit Verma Mohammed Baljon Shailendra Mishra Iqbaldeep Kaur Ritika Saini Sharad Saxena Sanjay Kumar Sharma | 2022 | Computers, Materials & Continua2022,,1: | 0 |
