Diversity of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungal spore communities and its relations to plants under increased temperature and precipitation in a natural grassland显示文摘Arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi(AMF)form mutualisms with most plant species, and therefore, understanding how AMF communities will respond to climate change is essential for predictions of changes in plant communities. To evaluate the impact of global climate change on AMFs and plant-AMF interactions in a natural grassland in Inner Mongolia, both artificial warming and watering treatments were assigned to experimental plots. Our results indicate that(1)warming and precipitation significantly affected the relative spore abundance of abundant sporulating AMF species;(2)the relative abundance of weak sporulating AMF species and AMF diversity decreased under experimental warming;(3)evidence was found that the composition of the AMF community in a given year might be correlated with plant community composition in the following year;and(4)grasses and forbs showing different preferences to Claroideoglomus etunicatum or Ambispora gerdemannii dominated plots. Our results imply that climate change appears to induce changes in AMF assemblages with knock-on effects on grassland plant communities.AMF communities may play a much more important role than we have thought in the responses of ecosystem to global climate changes. | SUN XiuFeng SU YuanYing ZHANG Ying WU MingYu ZHANG Zhe PEI KeQuan SUN LiFu WAN ShiQiang LIANG Yu | 2013 | Chinese Science Bulletin2013,58,33: | 6
A New Species of the Genus Tylototriton(Amphibia: Urodela: Salamandridae) from the Southern Dabie Mountains in Anhui Province显示文摘A new species of the genus Tylototriton is described, from Yuexi county,Anhui province,in the south of the Dabie Mountains. It is based on morphological and molecular analysis. The new species is identified as belonging to the Tylototriton asperrimus group and shares a number of similarities with T.wenxianensis,T.broadoridgus and T.dabienicus.The diagnostic characteristics of the new species are as follows: the head length is greater than the width of the head; bony ridges on the head are prominent and necked-in; the distal digit ends, ventral digits, peripheral area of the cloaca and the tail's lower edge are orange. The result from the molecular analysis of the genus Tylototriton(including the type specimen of the new species) based on three mitochondrial genes(ND1,ND2 and CYTB) indicated that the new species was close to T.wenxianensis,T.dabienicus,and T.broadoridgus, but formed an independent clade. This result was consistent with the morphological analysis above, which supports the theory that the population distributed in the south of the Dabie Mountains, namely in from Yuexi county,Anhui province, represented a distinct species,Tylototriton anhuiensis sp.nov. | Lifu QIAN Xiaonan SUN Jiaqi LI Weibo GUO Tao PAN Xing KANG Hui WANG Jianping JIANG Jun WU Baowei ZHANG | 2017 | Asian Herpetological Research2017,18,3: | 6
Diversity of root-associated fungi of Vaccinium mandarinorum along a human disturbance gradient in subtropical forests,China显示文摘Aims Ericaceous plant species can host diverse fungi in their roots, including ericoid mycorrhizal fungi(ERMF),endophytes, pathogens and some species with unknown functions. However, how this diversity of fungi responds to different human disturbances is not well understood. Methods In this study,we examined the effects of different human disturbance on fungal diversity in hair roots of Vaccinium mandarinorum,an ericaceous plant.Fungal DNA was extracted from hair roots of V.mandarinorum and high-throughput sequencing was applied to detect the diversity of root-associated fungi along a human disturbance gradient in subtropical forests in Gutianshan National Nature Reserve(GNNR)in East China. The four forest types with different disturbance regime were:old growth forest(OGF),secondary forest with once cut(SEC I),secondary forest with twice cut(SEC II)and Cunninghamia lanceolata plantation(PLF).Important Findings The results showed that:(i)diverse fungal operational units(OTUs)were detected in hair roots of V.mandarinorum in the four types of forests, covering fungal phyla of Ascomycota,Basidiomycota,Chytridiomycota,Glomeromycota and Zygomycota;(ii)Community composition of root-associated fungi of V.mandarinorum in PLF was distinct from those in the other three forest types, and two types of secondary forests had similar fungal community composition;(iii)Different fungal families respond differently to human disturbances:fungal families with significant preference to OGF were ectomycorrhizal or saprophytic fungi while fungal families with higher relative abundance in PLF were plant pathogenic or saprophytic fungi;(iv)The first principal component(PC1)of plant community had a significant effect on composition of root-associated fungal community, while edaphic parameters showed no significant effect on fungal community composition in roots of V.mandarinorum.Our results help to better understand the responses of both ericaceous plants and their fungal partners to human disturbances and forest managements. | Yanhua Zhang Jian Ni Fangping Tang Lifen Jiang Tianrong Guo Kequan Pei Lifu Sun Yu Liang | 2017 | Journal of Plant Ecology2017,10,1: | 6
Spatial and temporal distribution of forest fire frequency and forest area burnt in Jilin Province, Northeast China显示文摘Forest fires caused by natural forces or human activities are one of the major natural risks in Northeast China. The incidence and spatial distribution of these fires vary over time and across the forested areas in Jilin Province,Northeast China. In this study, the incidence and distribution of 6519 forest fires from 1969 to 2013 in the province were investigated. The results indicated that the spatiotemporal distribution of the burnt forest area and the fire frequency varied significantly by month, year, and region.Fire occurrence displayed notable temporal patterns in the years after forest fire prevention measures were strictly implemented by the provincial government.Generally, forest fires in Jilin occurred in months when stubble and straw were burned and human activities were intense during traditional Chinese festivals.Baishan city,Jilin city, and Yanbian were defined as fire-prone regions for their high fire frequency.Yanbian had the highest frequency, and the fires tended to be large with the highest burned area per fire.Yanbian should thus be listed as the key target area by the fire management agency in Jilin Province for better fire prevention. | Qiang Liu Yanlong Shan Lifu Shu Pingyan Sun Shuai Du | 2018 | Journal of Forestry Research2018,29,5: | 3
Salt stress-induced changes in soil metabolites promote cadmium transport into wheat tissues显示文摘Soil salinity is known to improve cadmium(Cd)mobility, especially in arid soils. However, the mechanisms involved in how salt stress-associated metabolic profiles participate in mediating Cd transport in the soil-plant system remain poorly understood. This study was designed to investigate the effects of salinity-induced changes in soil metabolites on Cd bioavailability.Sodium salts in different combinations according to molar ratio(NaCl:Na_(2)SO_(4)=1:1;NaCl:Na_(2)SO_(4):NaHCO_(3)=1:2:1;NaCl:Na_(2)SO_(4):NaHCO_(3):Na_(2)CO_(3)=1:9:9:1;NaCl:Na_(2)SO_(4):NaHCO_(3):Na_(2)CO_(3)=1:1:1:1)were applied to the Cd-contaminated soils, which increased soil Cd availability by 22.36%and the Cd content in wheat grains by 36.61%,compared to the control.Salt stress resulted in soil metabolic reprogramming, which might explain the decreased growth of wheat plants and increased Cd transport from the soil into wheat tissues. For example,down-regulation of starch and sucrose metabolism reduced the production of sugars, which adversely affected growth;up-regulation of fatty acid metabolism allowed wheat plants to maintain a normal intracellular environment under saline conditions;up-regulation of the tricarboxylic acid(TCA)cycle was triggered, causing an increase in organic acid synthesis and the accumulation of organic acids, which facilitated the migration of soil Cd into wheat tissues. In summary, salt stress can facilitate Cd transport into wheat tissues by the direct effect of salt-based ions and the combined effect of altered soil physicochemical properties and soil metabolic profiles in Cd-contaminated soils. | Lifu Wang Luyao Qin Xiaoyi Sun Shuwen Zhao Lei Yu Shibao Chen Meng Wang | 2023 | Journal of Environmental Sciences2023,,5: | 1

Diversity of root-associated fungi of Rhododendron simsii in subtropical forests: fungal communities with high resistance to anthropogenic disturbances显示文摘Species of the Ericaceae or heath family are widely distribute in continental ecosystems and their special ericoid mycorrhizas(ERM)are considered benefi cial to their survival and persistence in variable habitats.Currently, increasing anthropogenic disturbances and improper forest management are aff ecting subtropical forests of China where these native species located. These activities not only aff ect plant communities above-ground,but also impose pressures on microbial communities below-ground.In this study, rootassociated fungal communities of Rhododendron simsii in four forest types under diff erent anthropogenic disturbances were identifi ed using an Illumina Miseq platform,i.e.,old growth forests, secondary forests with one cutting(SECⅠ),secondary forests with two cuttings(SECⅡ),and Chinesefi r plantations(PLF).Intra-and inter-annual variations were analyzed by comparing samples taken in diff erent seasons and years. The results show that:(1)over 1000 OTUs were found in hair roots with most from the division Ascomycota and Basidiomycota belonging to diff erent functional groups;(2)while there were a few indicator OTUs specifi c to diff erent forest types, seasons and years, the proportion of shared taxa was quite large, accounting for 44.9–79.4%of the total OTUs;(3)signifi cantly positive correlations were found between disturbance sensitivity and temporal variations in common fungal orders, and both in major fungal orders were signifi cantly diff erent among fungal functional groups in which putative and possible ERM fungi were highly resistant to disturbances and low temporal variations. The high disturbance resistance and temporal persistence of putative ERM fungi may be essential for the successful adaptation of R.simsii in disturbed subtropical forests of China. | Yanhua Zhang Fangping Tang Jian Ni Lijia Dong Lifu Sun | 2019 | Journal of Forestry Research2019,30,6: | 1
