1Two gap-free reference genomes and a global view of the centromere architecture in rice显示文摘Rice(Oryza sativa),a major staple throughout the world and a model system for plant genomics and breeding,was the first crop genome sequenced almost two decades ago.However,reference genomes for all higher organisms to date contain gaps and missing sequences.Here,we report the assembly and analysis of gap-free reference genome sequences for two elite O.sativa xian/indica rice varieties,Zhenshan 97 and Minghui 63,which are being used as a model system for studying heterosis and yield.Gap-free reference genomes provide the opportunity for a global view of the structure and function of centromeres.We show that all rice centromeric regions share conserved centromere-specific satellite motifs with different copy numbers and structures.In addition,the similarity of CentO repeats in the same chromosome is higher than across chromosomes,supporting a model of local expansion and homogenization.Both genomes have over 395 non-TE genes located in centromere regions,of which∼41%are actively transcribed.Two large structural variants at the end of chromosome 11 affect the copy number of resistance genes between the two genomes.The availability of the two gap-free genomes lays a solid foundation for further understanding genome structure and function in plants and breeding climate-resilient varieties.Jia-Ming Song Wen-Zhao Xie Shuo Wang Yi-Xiong Guo Dal-Hoe Koo Dave Kudrna Chenbo Gong Yicheng Huang Jia-Wu Feng Wenhui Zhang Yong Zhou Andrea Zuccolo Evan Long Seunghee Lee Jayson Talag Run Zhou Xi-Tong Zhu Daojun Yuan Joshua Udall Weibo Xie Rod AWing Qifa Zhang Jesse Poland Jianwei Zhang Ling-Ling Chen 2021Molecular Plant2021,14,10:9
2A New Species of the Genus Tylototriton(Amphibia: Urodela: Salamandridae) from the Southern Dabie Mountains in Anhui Province显示文摘A new species of the genus Tylototriton is described,from Yuexi county,Anhui province,in the south of the Dabie Mountains.It is based on morphological and molecular analysis.The new species is identified as belonging to the Tylototriton asperrimus group and shares a number of similarities with T.wenxianensis,T.broadoridgus and T.dabienicus.The diagnostic characteristics of the new species are as follows: the head length is greater than the width of the head; bony ridges on the head are prominent and necked-in; the distal digit ends,ventral digits,peripheral area of the cloaca and the tail's lower edge are orange.The result from the molecular analysis of the genus Tylototriton(including the type specimen of the new species) based on three mitochondrial genes(ND1,ND2 and CYTB) indicated that the new species was close to T.wenxianensis,T.dabienicus,and T.broadoridgus,but formed an independent clade.This result was consistent with the morphological analysis above,which supports the theory that the population distributed in the south of the Dabie Mountains,namely in from Yuexi county,Anhui province,represented a distinct species,Tylototriton anhuiensis sp.nov.Lifu QIAN Xiaonan SUN Jiaqi LI Weibo GUO Tao PAN Xing KANG Hui WANG Jianping JIANG Jun WU Baowei ZHANG 2017Asian Herpetological Research2017,18,3:6
3Genome-and transcriptome-wide association studies provide insights into the genetic basis of natural variation of seed oil content in Brassica napus显示文摘Seed oil content(SOC)is a highly important and complex trait in oil crops.Here,we decipher the genetic basis of natural variation in SOC of Brassica napus by genome-and transcriptome-wide association studies using 505 inbred lines.We mapped reliable quantitative trait loci(QTLs)that control SOC in eight environments,evaluated the effect of each QTL on SOC,and analyzed selection in QTL regions during breeding.Six-hundred and ninety-two genes and four gene modules significantly associated with SOC were identified by analyzing population transcriptomes from seeds.A gene prioritization framework,POCKET(prioritizing the candidate genes by incorporating information on knowledge-based gene sets,effects of variants,genome-wide association studies,and transcriptome-wide association studies),was implemented to determine the causal genes in the QTL regions based on multi-omic datasets.A pair of homologous genes,BnPMT6s,in two QTLs were identified and experimentally demonstrated to negatively regulate SOC.This study provides rich genetic resources for improving SOC and valuable insights toward understanding the complex machinery that directs oil accumulation in the seeds of B.napus and other oil crops.Shan Tang Hu Zhao Shaoping Lu Liangqian Yu Guofang Zhang Yuting Zhang Qing-Yong Yang Yongming Zhou Xuemin Wang Wei Ma Weibo Xie Liang Guo 2021Molecular Plant2021,14,3:6

9Pillar[5]arene based conjugated macrocycle polymers with unique photocatalytic selectivity显示文摘The development of heterogeneous catalysts with substrate shape,size or electronic constitution selectivity is a huge challenge in photocatalysis.Reported herein is a host-guest interaction strategy to endow photocatalysts with special selectivity.By adjusting the precursors,conjugated macrocycle polymers(CMPs)with pillar[5]arene struts(CMP-1 and CMP-2)and a corresponding non-pillar[5]are necontained conjugated organic polymer(COP-1)were prepared and the photocatalytic activities toward sulfide derivatives were investigated.The sulfides showed similar conve rsions when COP-1 was used as a photocatalyst,but exhibited significant differences when it turned to the CMPs.Remarkably,the conversion yield of S-1 achieved near 18 folds over the one of S-2 when CMP-2 was used as a catalyst.Mechanism studies confirmed that the'host-guest'effect of pillar[5]arene struts in CMPs was the main cause of the difference.The present work establishes CMPs as novel heterogeneous photocatalysts with substrate selectivity,and such a method will inspire the researchers concerning preparation of heterogeneous catalysts with excellent selectivity.Hui Qiang Tao Chen Zhuo Wang Wenqian Li Yunzhe Guo Jie Yang Xueshun Jia Hui Yang Weibo Hu Ke Wen 2020Chinese Chemical Letters2020,31,12:1

11Phylogenetic position of three Condylostoma species (Protozoa, Ciliophora, Heterotrichea) inferred from the small subunit rRNA gene sequence显示文摘The systematically poorly known ciliate genus Condylostoma was erected by Vincent in 1826.About 10 morphotypes have been reported, but any molecular investigations concerning this group so far are lacking.In this work, the small subunit ribosomal RNA (SS rRNA) gene of three marine Condylostoma species was sequenced, by which the phylogenetic trees were constructed by distance-matrix, maximum parsimony and Bayesian inference methods.The results show that (1) all the trees have similar topologies with high supports;(2) Condylostoma is mostly related to the genus Condylostentor;and (3) three Condylostoma species as well as Condylostentor auriculatus cluster together and form a sister group with other heterotrichs.This is moderately consistent with the assessment of phylo-genetic relationships of Condylostoma-related heterotrichs from the morphological information.The phylogenetic relationship of some other related heterotrichs, Peritromus, Folliculina, Stentor and Blepharisma, has been also discussed.Wenbo Guo Weibo Song Khaled A.S. 13Observation and simulation of the diffuse attenuation coefficient of downwelling irradiance in the Polar Ocean显示文摘The three-stream radiation transfer model is used to investigate the fluctuation in the underwater diffuse attenuation coefficient of downwelling irradiance in the polar ocean with a high solar zenith angle and different direct radiation proportions.First,the applicability of the three-stream radiation model in the polar region is validated by using 18 in situ observation data from September to October 2009 in the Beaufort Sea.Statistics show that in the absence of sea ice,the average relative errors between the simulation and observation values for 490 nm downwelling irradiance (E_(d)(490)) and its diffuse attenuation coefficient (K_(d)(490)) are 7.04%and 9.88%,respectively.At the stations surrounded by sea ice,the radiation is relatively small due to ice blocking,and the average relative errors simulated by the model reach 15.89%and 15.55%,respectively.Second,simulations with different chlorophyll concentrations and different proportions of direct radiation reveal that a high solar zenith angle has a greater impact on K_(d)(490) in the surface water.K_(d)(490) is less affected by the light field (affected by the solar zenith angle and the proportion of direct radiation) at depths greater than 30 m,and meets the linear relationship with the inherent optical parameters(the sum of the absorption coefficient and backscattering coefficient).The surface K_(d)(490) is still consistent with that at a depth of more than 50 meters under a high solar zenith angle,implying that the surface K_(d)(490) can also be considered as an inherent optical parameter at a high solar zenith angle (greater than 60 degrees).The relative error of obtaining surface K_(d)(490) by using the linear relationship at the 50 m layer is found to be less than 8%in the seawater with chlorophyll concentration greater than0.05 mg m^(-3).The effect of the solar zenith angle and proportion of direct radiation can be ignored when measuring the diffuse attenuation coefficient in the polar region.Finally,the model can correct the ice-induced fluctuation in downward irradiance,allowing for optical research of seawater beneath the ice in the polar ocean.Weibo WANG Chunsheng JING Xiaogang GUO 2023Science China Earth Sciences2023,66,7:0

15Structural optimization design on the arc receiver array of forward-looking sonar显示文摘Aiming at the problems that poor isotropic of linear array and limited effective aperture of semicircular array in forward-looking sonar,an optimized structural design method of arc receiving array is proposed.According to different extent of imaging sector,the central angle of arc receiving array is designed to make all elements participate in beamforming of all directions.The far and near-field focusing model of arc receiving array is established,and the directivity function of arc receiving array is derived.The radius of arc receiving array with the best beam performance is calculated according to the threshold condition of the boundary beam grating lobe.The comparison of the beam performance at different sector extent of arc array,linear array and semicircular array shows that,the main lobe performance of the arc receiving array is improved by 8%with the view extent between 90°to 130°,and the grating lobe level of the boundary beam is optimized by 4%.The comparison of simulation images with the view extent of 120°and depth of 100 m shows that the cross-directional resolution depth is increased by 20 m and 45 m compared with linear array and semicircular array,the parameter storage capacity is only 2.7%of the linear array.The arc array has the advantages of large effective aperture and isotropic beam,which can effectively improve the detection performance of forward-looking sonar system and reduce difficulty of algorithm implementation.ZHAO Dongdong LI Fuzeng CHEN Peng MAO Weibo GUO Xinxin 2023Chinese Journal of Acoustics2023,42,1:0
