| 3 | A multicenter,retrospective.epidemiologic survey of the clinical features and management of bone metastatic disease in China显示文摘Background:Bone metastases are common in patients with advanced cancer.Bisphosphonates(BPs) could prevent or delay the development of skeleton-related events(SREs).The present study aimed to identify the clinical features of and treatment strategies for Chinese patients with bone metastases.Methods:Consecutive cancer patients who had bone metastases and received BP treatment were enrolled.A questionnaire was developed to collect the patients' clinical data,as well as information on the diagnosis and management of bone metastases.Physicians' awareness of the guidelines and knowledge of the application of BP were also assessed.Results:A total of 3223 patients with lung cancer(36.5%),breast cancer(30.9%),prostate cancer(8.5%),and gastrointestinal cancer(5.7%) were included in this study.The sites of bone metastases were the thoracic spine(56.0%),lumbar spine(47.1%),ribs(32.6%),and pelvis(23.2%).The SRE frequency was the highest in patients with multiple myeloma(36.6%),followed by those with lung cancer(25.9%),breast cancer(20.2%),prostate cancer(18.2%),and gastrointestinal cancer(17.3%).Irradiation to the bone was the most frequent SRE(58%in lung cancer patients,45%in breast cancer patients,and 48%in prostate cancer patients).Our survey also showed that 45.5%of patients received BP within 3 months after their diagnosis of bone metastases,whereas the remaining 54.5%of patients did not receive BP treatment until at least 3 months after their diagnosis of bone metastases.The SRE frequency in the former group was significantly lower than that in the latter group(4.0%vs.42.3%,P < 0.05).In patients with more than 6 months of continuous BP treatment,the mean time to the first SRE was significantly longer than that in patients with less than 6 months of continuous BP treatment(7.2 vs.3.4 months,P < 0.05).In addition,12.2%of the physicians were not aware of the efficacy of BP in preventing and delaying SRE.Only half(52.3%) of the physicians agreed that the BP treatment should persist for at least 6 months unless it was intolerable.Conclusions:Our study suggested that prompt and persistent BP treatment was associated with a reduced risk of SREs.However,our survey also revealed that the proper application of BP was not as common as expected in China. | Yunpeng Yang Yuxiang Ma Jin Sheng Yan Huang Yuanyuan Zhao Wenfeng Fang Shaodong Hong Ying Tian Cong Xue Li Zhang | 2016 | Chinese Journal of Cancer2016,35,5: | 13 |
| 4 | Quantitative computed tomography analysis for stratifying the severity of Coronavirus Disease 2019显示文摘To examine the feasibility of using a computer tool for stratifying the severity of Coronavirus Disease 2019(COVID-19)based on computed tomography(CT)images.We retrospectively examined 44 confirmed COVID-19 cases.All cases were evaluated separately by radiologists(visually)and through an in-house computer software.The degree of lesions was visually scored by the radiologist,as follows,for each of the 5 lung lobes:0,no lesion present;1,<1/3 involvement;2,>1/3 and<2/3 involvement;and 3,>2/3 involvement.Lesion density was assessed based on the proportion of ground-glass opacity(GGO),consolidation and fibrosis of the lesions.The parameters obtained using the computer tool included lung volume(mL),lesion volume(mL),lesion percentage(%),and mean lesion density(HU)of the whole lung,right lung,left lung,and each lobe.The scores obtained by the radiologists and quantitative results generated by the computer software were tested for correlation.A Chi-square test was used to test the consistency of radiologist-and computer-derived lesion percentage in the right/left lung,upper/lower lobe,and each of the 5 lobes.The results showed a strong to moderate correlation between lesion percentage scores obtained by radiologists and the computer software(r ranged from 0.7679 to 0.8373,P<0.05),and a moderate correlation between the proportion of GGO and mean lesion density(r=-0.5894,P<0.05),and proportion of consolidation and mean lesion density(r=0.6282,P<0.05).Computer-aided quantification showed a statistical significant higher lesion percentage for lower lobes than that assessed by the radiologists(x^2=8.160,P=0.004).Our experiments demonstrated that the computer tool could reliably and accurately assess the severity and distribution of pneumonia on CT scans. | Cong Shen Nan Yu Shubo Cai Jie Zhou Jiexin Sheng Kang Liu Heping Zhou Youmin Guo Gang Niu | 2020 | Journal of Pharmaceutical Analysis2020,10,2: | 13 |
| 5 | Combined hepatocellular and cholangiocarcinoma originating from the same clone:a pathomolecular evidence-based study显示文摘Background:Combined hepatocellular and cholangiocarcinoma(CHC) is a unique subtype of liver cancer comprising both hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC) and intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma(ICC);however,its cellular origin remains unclear.The purpose of this study was to investigate the clinicopathologic features and the clonal relationship between HCC and ICC in 34 patients with CHC.Methods:The clinicopathologic features and prognosis of the 34 CHC patients were compared with those of 29 patients with separated HCC and ICC(5HC).Loss of heterozygosity(LOH) at 10 highly polymorphic microsatellite markers was detected in 16 CHC and 10 SHC tissues for determination of the clonal origin of CHC.Expression of hepatocyte markers[hepatocyte paraffin 1(Hep Par 1) and glypican 3(GPC3)]and cholangiocyte markers[cytokeratin(CK)7 and 19]in tumor tissues was examined by immuno histochemical analysis.Results:In the 16 CHC specimens,the difference in LOH patterns between HCC and ICC was less than 30%,suggesting the same clonal origin of HCC and ICC.Consistent with this finding,immunohistochemical analysis revealed that hepatocyte markers(Hep Par 1 and GPC3) and cholangiocyte markers(CK7 and CK19) were simultaneously expressed in both the HCC and ICC components in 52.9%of CHC specimens,suggesting that the two components shared a similar phenotype with hepatic progenitor cells(HPCs).On the contrary,in all 10 SHC cases,the difference in LOH patterns between the HCC and ICC components was greater than 30%,suggesting different clonal origins of HCC and ICC.Overall survival and disease-free survival were shorter for patients with CHC than for patients with SHC(P < 0.05).Conclusions:Our results suggest that the HCC and ICC components of CHC may originate from the same clone,having the potential for dual-directional differentiation similar to HPCs.CHC tended to exhibit the biological behaviors of both HCC and ICC,which may enhance the infiltrative capacity of tumor cells,leading to poor clinical outcomes for patients with CHC. | Qian Zhao Wen-Long Yu Xin-Yuan Lu Hui Dong Yi-Jin Gu Xia Sheng Wen-Ming Cong Meng-Chao Wu | 2016 | Chinese Journal of Cancer2016,35,11: | 9 |

| 8 | Is the Chinese Medicinal Formula Guipi Decoction(归脾汤) Effectiveas AnAdjunctive Treatment for Depression?AMeta-Analysis of Randomized Controlled Trials显示文摘Objectives: To evaluate the effectiveness and safety of Guipi Decoction(归脾汤, GPD) as an adjunctive in the treatment of depression. Methods: A review of all relevant studies retrieved from a search of the following databases were conducted without any language restriction: Excerpt Medica Database(EMBASE), Pub Med, Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials, China National Knowledge Infrastructure(CNKI), VIP Information, Wanfang Data, and the Chinese Biomedical Literature Database. Papers published until February 2013 were taken into consideration. The analysis was performed using the Cochrane software Revman 5.1. Results: Nine randomized controlled trials involving 620 patients with depression were included in this review. The meta-analysis revealed that compared with antidepressant therapy alone, treatment with a combination of GPD and an antidepressant drug significantly improved the symptoms of depression [weighted mean difference(WMD): –3.09; 95% confidence interval(CI): –4.11 to –2.07] and increased the rates of effectiveness(OR: 4.75; 95% CI: 2.66–8.51) as well as recovery(OR: 1.73; 95% CI: 1.17–2.56). The adverse effects of GPD were not found to be significant in these studies. Conclusions: The findings of this meta-analysis were in keeping with the notion that GPD formulations were effective in the treatment of depression without causing any severe adverse effects. | 9 | Molecular mechanism of endocrine-disruptive effects induced by Bisphenol A:The role of transmembrane G-protein estrogen receptor 1 and integrin αvβ3显示文摘Bisphenol A(BPA) is one of the highest volume industrial products worldwide and has been widely used to make various products as the intermediates of polycarbonate plastics and epoxy resins.Inevitably, general population has been widely exposed to BPA due to extensive use of BPAcontaining products. BPA has similar chemical structure with the natural estrogen and has been shown to induce a variety of estrogen-like endocrine effects on organism in vivo or in vitro. High doses of BPA tend to act as antagonist of estrogen receptors(ERs) by directly regulating the genomic transcription. However, BPA at environmentally relevant low-dose always disrupt the biological function via a non-genomic manner mediated by membrane receptors, rather than ERs. Although some studies had investigated the non-genomic effects of low-dose BPA, the exact molecular mechanism still remains unclear. Recently, we found that membrane G protein-coupled estrogen receptor 1 and integrin αvβ3 and its relative signal pathways participate in the induction of male germ cell proliferation and thyroid transcription disruption by the low-dose BPA. A profound understanding for the mechanism of action of the environmentally relevant BPA exposure not only contributes to objectively evaluate and predict the potential influence to human health, but also provides theoretical basis and methodological support for assessing health effects trigged by other estrogen-like environmental endocrine disruptors. The chemical structure of DOPO-ICN was confirmed by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FTIR) and 1 H NMR.The influence of DOPO-ICN on the mechanical and flammability properties of jute/PLA composites was studied. Compared to DOPO, DOPO-ICN improved the tensile, flexural and impact strength of the flame retardant jute/PLA composites. The oxygen permeation flux of BaBi0.2Co0.35Fe0.45O3-δmembrane reached about0.77×106 mol/cm2 ·s under an air/helium oxygen partial pressure gradient at 900 ℃, which was much higher than that of other bismuth-contained mixed conducting membranes. | 18 | Crotalaria ferruginea extract attenuates lipopolysaccharide-induced acute lung injury in mice by inhibiting MAPK/NF-κB signaling pathways显示文摘Objective:To evaluate the anti-inflammatory activity of Crotalaria ferruginea extract(CFE)and its mechanism.Methods:An intratracheal lipopolysaccharide(LPS)instillationinduced acute lung injury(ALI)model was used to study the antiinflammatory activity of CFE in vivo.The LPS-induced shock model was used to analyze the effect of CFE on survival.LPS-stimulated RAW264.7 cell model was used to investigate the anti-inflammatory activity of CFE in vitro and the effects on mitogen-activated protein kinase(MAPK)or nuclear factor-κB(NF-κB)signaling pathways.Results:CFE administration decreased the number of inflammatory cells,reduced the levels of tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α),monocyte chemotactic protein-1(MCP-1),interleukin-6(IL-6),and interferon-γ,and diminished protein content in the bronchoalveolar lavage fluid of mice.CFE also reduced lung wet-to-dry weight ratio,myeloperoxidase,and lung tissue pathological injury.CFE preadministration improved the survival rate of mice challenged with a lethal dose of LPS.CFE reduced LPS-activated RAW264.7 cells to produce nitric oxide,TNF-α,MCP-1,and IL-6.Furthermore,CFE inhibited nuclear translocation and phosphorylation of NF-κB P65,extracellular signal-regulated kinase,c-Jun N-terminal kinases,and P38 MAPKs.Conclusions:CFE exhibits potent anti-inflammatory activity in LPS-induced ALI mice,LPS-shock mice,and RAW264.7 cells,and its mechanism may be associated with the inhibition of NF-κB and MAPK signaling pathways.Crotalaria ferruginea may be a useful therapeutic drug for the treatment of ALI and other respiratory inflammations. | Wei Pan Li-Ping Meng Jie Su Zheng-Biao Yang Wei-Feng Du Zhi-Wei Xu Yun-Xiang Chen Sheng Zhang Feng Xie Cong Xu Hong-Zhong Yang Wei-Hong Ge | 2021 | Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Biomedicine2021,11,11: | 2 |
| 19 | Comparison of acute pneumonia caused by SARS-CoV-2 and other respiratory viruses in children:a retrospective multi-center cohort study during COVID-19 outbreak显示文摘Background:Until January 18,2021,coronavirus disease-2019(COVID-19)has infected more than 93 million individuals and has caused a certain degree of panic.Viral pneumonia caused by common viruses such as respiratory syncytial virus,rhinovirus,human metapneumovirus,human bocavirus,and parainfluenza viruses have been more common in children.However,the incidence of COVID-19 in children was significantly lower than that in adults.The purpose of this study was to describe the clinical manifestations,treatment and outcomes of COVID-19 in children compared with those of other sources of viral pneumonia diagnosed during the COVID-19 outbreak.Methods:Children with COVID-19 and viral pneumonia admitted to 20 hospitals were enrolled in this retrospective multi-center cohort study.A total of 64 children with COVID-19 were defined as the COVID-19 cohort,of which 40 children who developed pneumonia were defined as the COVID-19 pneumonia cohort.Another 284 children with pneumonia caused by other viruses were defined as the viral pneumonia cohort.The epidemiologic,clinical,and laboratory findings were compared by Kolmogorov-Smirnov test,t-test,Mann-Whitney U test and Contingency table method.Drug usage,immunotherapy,blood transfusion,and need for oxygen support were collected as the treatment indexes.Mortality,intensive care needs and symptomatic duration were collected as the outcome indicators.Results:Compared with the viral pneumonia cohort,children in the COVID-19 cohort were mostly exposed to family members confirmed to have COVID-19(53/64 vs.23/284),were of older median age(6.3 years vs.3.2 years),and had a higher proportion of ground-glass opacity(GGO)on computed tomography(18/40 vs.0/38,P<0.001).Children in the COVID-19 pneumonia cohort had a lower proportion of severe cases(1/40 vs.38/284,P=0.048),and lower cases with high fever(3/40 vs.167/284,P<0.001),requiring intensive care(1/40 vs.32/284,P<0.047)and with shorter symptomatic duration(median 5d vs.8d,P<0.001).The proportion of cases with evaluated inflammatory indicators,biochemical indicators related to organ or tissue damage,D-dimer and secondary bacterial infection were lower in the COVID-19 pneumonia cohort than those in the viral pneumonia cohort(P<0.05).No statistical differences were found in the duration of positive PCR results from pharyngeal swabs in 25 children with COVID-19 who received antiviral drugs(lopinavir-ritonavir,ribavirin,and arbidol)as compared with duration in 39 children without antiviral therapy(median 10d vs.9d,P=0.885).Conclusions:The symptoms and severity of COVID-19 pneumonia in children were no more severe than those in children with other viral pneumonia.Lopinavir-ritonavir,ribavirin and arbidol do not shorten the duration of positive PCR results from pharyngeal swabs in children with COVID-19.During the COVID-19 outbreak,attention also must be given to children with infection by other pathogens infection. | Guang-Li Ren Xian-Feng Wang Jun Xu Jun Li Qiong Meng Guo-Qiang Xie Bo Huang Wei-Chun Zhu Jing Lin Cheng-He Tang Sheng Ye Zhuo Li Jie Zhu Zhen Tang Ming-Xin Ma Cong Xie Ying-Wen Wu Chen-Xi Liu Fang Yang Yu-Zong Zhou Ying Zheng Shu-Ling Lan Jian-Feng Chen Feng Ye Yu He BenQing Wu Long Chen Si-Mao Fu Cheng-Zhong Zheng Yuan Shi | 2021 | Military Medical Research2021,8,4: | 2 |
