1Alcoholic liver disease and the gut-liver axis显示文摘Alcoholic liver disease (ALD) is one of the leading causes of liver diseases and liver-related death worldwide. Of the many factors that contribute to the pathogenesis of ALD, gut-derived lipopolysaccharide (LPS) plays a central role in induction of steatosis, inflammation, and fi brosis in the liver. In this review, we discuss the mechanisms by which alcohol contributes to increased gut permeability, the activation of Kupffer cells, and the infl ammatory cascade by LPS. 2Emerging role of microRNAs in liver diseases显示文摘MicroRNAs are a class of small non-coding RNAs that are found in plants, animals, and some viruses. They modulate the gene function at the post-transcriptional level and act as a fine tuner of various processes, such as development, proliferation, cell signaling, and apopto-sis. They are associated with different types and stages of cancer. Recent studies have shown the involvement of microRNAs in liver diseases caused by various factors, such as Hepatitis C, Hepatitis B, metabolic disorders, and by drug abuse. 4Intracranial pressure monitoring:Gold standard and recent innovations显示文摘Intracranial pressure monitoring (ICP) is based on the doctrine proposed by Monroe and Kellie centuries ago. With the advancement of technology and science, various invasive and non-invasive modalities of monitoring ICP continue to be developed. An ideal monitor to track ICP should be easy to use, accurate, reliable, reproducible, inexpensive and should not be associated with infection or haemorrhagic complications. Although the transducers connected to the extra ventricular drainage continue to be Gold Standard, its association with the likelihood of infection and haemorrhage have led to the search for alternate noninvasive methods of monitoring ICP. 6Functional properties, phenolic constituents and antioxidant potential of industrial apple pomace for utilization as active food ingredient显示文摘Apple pomace is a waste biomass generated after apple fruit processing.In present investigation,efforts were made to comprehend influence of differently dried pomace on cell wall properties and phenolic profile.Different drying techniques were employed to remove moisture content from fresh apple pomace.Total dietary fiber yield(74%)and array of functional properties such as density,water and oil holding capacity,swelling capacity and glucose dialysis retardation index(36.91%)was found better in freeze dried fraction.The higher total phenolics(5.78±0.08 mg GAE/g dry weight)content was also recorded in freeze dried fraction followed by oven and sun drying.The 50%aqueous acetone was found as more efficient solvent for extraction of phenolic constituents.RP-HPLC analysis has revealed presence of quercetin,phloridzin and phloretin as major phenolics.Thus,it is evident from the results that pomace generated at industrial scale can be utilized as a source of dietary food ingredient.Shalika Ranaa Sakshi Gupta Ajay Rana Shashi Bhushan 2015Food Science and Human Wellness2015,4,4:8
7Review of evolution of tunnel position in anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction显示文摘Anterior cruciate ligament(ACL) rupture is one of the commonest knee sport injuries. The annual incidence of the ACL injury is between 100000-200000 in the United States. Worldwide around 400000 ACL reconstructions are performed in a year. The goal of ACL reconstruction is to restore the normal knee anatomy and kinesiology. The tibial and femoral tunnel placements are of primordial importance in achieving this outcome. Otherfactors that influence successful reconstruction are types of grafts, surgical techniques and rehabilitation programmes. A comprehensive understanding of ACL anatomy has led to the development of newer techniques supplemented by more robust biological and mechanical concepts. In this review we are mainly focussing on the evolution of tunnel placement in ACL reconstruction, focusing on three main categories, i.e., anatomical, biological and clinical outcomes. The importance of tunnel placement in the success of ACL reconstruction is well researched. Definite clinical and functional data is lacking to establish the superiority of the single or double bundle reconstruction technique. 8Plasma microRNA profiles distinguish lethal injury in acetaminophen toxicity: A research study显示文摘AIM: To investigate plasma microRNA (miRNA) profiles indicative of hepatotoxicity in the setting of lethal acetaminophen (APAP) toxicity in mice. METHODS: Using plasma from APAP poisoned mice, either lethally (500 mg/kg) or sublethally (150 mg/kg) dosed, we screened commercially available murine microRNA libraries (SABiosciences, Qiagen Sciences, MD) to evaluate for unique miRNA profiles between these two dosing parameters. RESULTS: We distinguished numerous, unique plasma miRNAs both up- and downregulated in lethally compared to sublethally dosed mice. Of note, many of the greatest up- and downregulated miRNAs, namely 574-5p, 466g, 466f-3p, 375, 29c, and 148a, have been shown to be associated with asthma in prior studies. Interestingly, a relationship between APAP and asthma has been previously well described in the literature, with an as yet unknown mechanism of pathology. There was a statistically significant increase in alanine aminotransferase levels in the lethal compared to sublethal APAP dosing groups at the 12 h time point (P < 0.001). There was 90% mortality in the lethally compared to sublethally dosed mice at the 48 h time point (P = 0.011). 9Comparative analysis of APACHE-Ⅱ and P-POSSUM scoring systems in predicting postoperative mortality in patients undergoing emergency laparotomy显示文摘BACKGROUND Laparotomy remains one of the commonest emergency surgical procedures.Early prognostic evaluation would aid in selecting the high-risk patients for an aggressive treatment.Awareness about risks could potentially contribute to the quality of perioperative care and optimum utilization of resources.Portsmouth modification of Physiological and operative severity for the enumeration of mortality and morbidity (P-POSSUM) and the acute physiology and chronic health evaluation Ⅱ(APACHE-Ⅱ) have been the most widely used scoring systems for emergency laparotomies.It is always better to have a single scoring system to predict outcomes and audit healthcare organizations.AIM To compare the ability of APACHE-II and P-POSSUM to predict postoperative morbidity and mortality in patients undergoing emergency laparotomy.METHODS All patients undergoing emergency laparotomy at the Tata Main Hospital,Jamshedpur between December 2013 and November 2014 were included in the study.In this observational study,P-POSSUM and APACHE-Ⅱ scoring were done,and the outcome analysis evaluated with mortality being the primary outcome.RESULTS For P-POSSUM,at a cut off value of 63 to predict mortality using receiver operating characteristics curve analysis,the area under the curve was 0.989;and for APACHE-Ⅱ,at the cut off value of 24,the area under the curve was 0.965.CONCLUSION Because the ability of APACHE-Ⅱ to predict mortality was similar to P-POSSUM and APACHE-Ⅱ does not need scoring for intra-operative findings and histopathology reports,APACHE-Ⅱ can be used pre-operatively to assess the risk in patients undergoing emergency laparotomy.However,for audit purposes,either of the two scoring systems can be used.Deb Sanjay Nag Ankur Dembla Pratap Rudra Mahanty Shashi Kant Abhishek Chatterjee Devi Prasad Samaddar Parul Chugh 2019World Journal of Clinical Cases2019,7,16:5
10培养角膜缘上皮移植后穿透性角膜移植术的早期结果显示文摘目的:描述曾行培养角膜缘上皮移植的患者再行穿透性角膜移植(PKP)的早期结果。 方法:对因化学烧伤造成角膜缘干细胞缺乏而行培养的角膜缘上皮移植后又进行穿透性角膜移植术的患者有关人口统计学、原发病因、角膜缘移植类型、眼表稳定性、视力、移植片透明度和并发症方面的资料进行回顾和复习。对受体角膜片组织病理学特征进行研究,重点观察上皮状态。 结果:在患有角膜缘干细胞缺乏而进行培养的角膜缘上皮移植术的125例患者中,15例接受了穿透性角膜移植术(PKP)。角膜缘上皮移植术后(自体移植组n=11,同种异体移植组n=4)平均间隔时间为7个月(范围2—12个月)。同种异体移植组的4例患者均接受了免疫抑制疗法。15只眼中14只眼(93%)获得了含有稳定的角膜上皮的健全的角膜植片。15只眼中14只眼术前最佳矫正视力低于20/200。PKP后平均随访8.3±5.0个月,8只眼最佳矫正视力高于20/60,5只眼最佳矫正视力20/200至20/60。2只眼低于20/200。15只眼中3只眼发生异体角膜植片的排斥反应但被成功治疗。1只眼发生植片排斥的同时发生了青光眼。同种异体角膜缘上皮移植无一例显示排斥表现。 结论:培养的角膜缘上皮移植后,在形成稳定的眼表后行PKP的早期结果是良好的。为了避免排斥反应,培养的同种异体角膜缘上皮移植者行充分的免疫抑制治疗是必需的。角膜同种异体移植能够单独排斥同种异体角膜缘移植物。Virender S. 11Comparisons of three data storage models in parametric temporal databases显示文摘The parametric temporal data model captures a real world entity in a single tuple, which reduces query language complexity. Such a data model, however, is difficult to be implemented on top of conventional databases because of its unfixed attribute sizes. XML is a matured technology and can be an elegant solution for such challenge. Representing data in XML trigger a question about storage efficiency. The goal of this work is to provide a straightforward answer to such a question. To this end, we compare three different storage models for the parametric temporal data model and show that XML is not worse than any other approaches. Furthermore, XML outperforms the other storages under certain conditions. Therefore, our simulation results provide a positive indication that the myth about XML is not true in the parametric temporal data model.Seo-Young NOH Shashi K. 14Synthesis and evaluation of novel analogues of mangiferin as potent antipyretic显示文摘Objective:To screen different analogues of mangiferin pharmacologically for antipyretic activity. Methods:The naturally occurring xanthone glycoside mangiferin was isolated by column chromatography from the elhanolic extract of stem bark of Mangifera indica.Mangiferin was further converted to 5-(N-phenylamino methyleno) mangiferin.5-(N-p-chlorophenylamino methyleno) mangiferin,5-(N-2-methyl phenylamino methyleno) mangiferin.5-(N-p-methoxy phenylamino methyleno) mangiferin.5-(N,N-diphenylamino methyleno) mangiferin,5-(N-α-napthylamino methyleno) mangiferin and 5-(N-4-methyl phenylamino methyleno) mangiferin analogues.The synthesized compounds were further screened for antipyretic activity along with mangiferin at a dose level of 100 and 200 tng/kg.Mangiferin and its analogues were characterized by melting point and R_f value determination and through spectral technique like UV,IR,and NMR spectral analysis.Results:The antipyretic activity of mangiferin as well as all analogues was found to be more significant in at higher dose ie.200 mg/kg which was depicted thmugh a decrease in rectal temperature up to 3 h.Conclusions:The antipyretic activity of mangiferin and its analogues may be attributed to inhibition in synthesis of TNF-αand anti-oxidant activity associated with amelioration of inflammatory actions of cytokines.Shashi Kant Singh Saurabh K Sinha SK Prasad R Kumar Bhawani S Bithu S Sadish Kumar P Singh 2011Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Medicine2011,4,11:4

16Comparison of eigensensitivity and ANN based methods in model updating of an eight-story building显示文摘Analytical models prepared from field drawings do not generally provide results that match with experimental results.The error may be due to uncertainties in the property of materials,size of members and errors in the modelling process.It is important to improve analytical models using experimentally obtained data.For the past several years,data obtained from ambient vibration testing have been successfully used in many cases to update and match dynamic behaviors of analytical models with real structures.This paper presents a comparison between artificial neural network(ANN) and eigensensitivity based model updating of an existing multi-story building.A simple spring-mass analytical model,developed from the structural drawings of the building,is considered and the corresponding spring stiffness and lumped mass of all floors are chosen as updating parameters.The advantages and disadvantages of these updating methods are discussed.The advantage is that both methods ensure a physically meaningful model which canbe further employed in determining structural response and health monitoring.Prabakaran K Ashok Kumar Shashi Kant Thakkar 2015Earthquake Engineering and Engineering Vibration2015,14,3:3
