| 2 | Age distribution,polyps and rectal cancer in the Egyptian population-based cancer registry显示文摘AIM:To describe the clinical and epidemiologic profiles of the disease and to compare the findings with those generated from the previous hospital-based studies.METHODS:The Gharbiah cancer registry is the only population-based cancer registry in Egypt since 1998.We analyzed the data of all colorectal cancer patients included in the registry for the period of 1999-2007.All medical records of the 1364 patients diagnosed in Gharbiah during the study period were retrieved and the following information abstracted:age,residence,diagnosis date,grade,stage,topology,clinical characteristics,and histology variables.Egyptian census data for 1996 and 2006 were used to provide the general population's statistics on age,sex,residence and other related demographic factors.In addition to age-and sex-specific incidence rate analyses,we analyze the data to explore the incidence distribution by rural-urban differences among the 8 districts of the province.We also compared the incidence rates of Gharbiah to the rates of the Surveillance Epidemiology and End Results(SEER) data of the United States.RESULTS:Over the 9 year-period,1364 colorectal cancer cases were included.The disease incidence under age 40 years was relatively high(1.3/10 5) while the incidence in the age groups 40 and over was very low(12.0/10 5,19.4/10 5 and 21.2/10 5 in the age groups 40-59 years,60-69 years and > 70 years,respectively).The vast majority of tumors(97.2%) had no polyps and 37.2% of the patients presented with primary lesions in the rectum.Colorectal cancer was more common in patients from urban(55%) than rural(45%) areas.Regional differences in colon and rectal cancer incidence in the 8 districts of the study province may reflect different etiologic patterns in this population.The registry data of Egypt shows a slightly higher incidence of colorectal cancer than the United States in subjects under age 40 years.The results also shows significantly lower incidence of colorectal cancer in subjects over age 40 years compared to the same age group in the United States SEER.CONCLUSION:Low rate of polyps,low incidence in older subjects,and high rate of rectal cancer in Egypt.Future studies should explore clinical and molecular disease patterns. | Darlene Veruttipong Amr S Soliman Samuel F Gilbert Taylor S Blachley Ahmed Hablas Mohamed Ramadan Laura S Rozek Ibrahim A Seifeldin | 2012 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2012，18，30： | 12 |

| 6 | Electrocardiographic markers of cardiac resynchronization therapy response:delayed time to intrinsicoid deflection onset in lateral leads显示文摘Cardiac resynchronization therapy(CRT)has emerged as an important intervention for patients with heart failure(HF)with reduced ejection fraction and delayed ventricular activation.In these patients,CRT has demonstrated to improve quality of life,promote reverse left ventricular(LV)remodeling,reduce HF hospitalizations,and extend survival.However,despite advancements in our understanding of CRT,a significant number of patients do not respond to this therapy.Several invasive and non-invasive parameters have been assessed to predict response to CRT,but the electrocardiogram(ECG)has remained as the prevailing screening method albeit with limitations.Ideally,an accurate,simple,and reproducible ECG marker or set of markers would dramatically overcome the current limitations.We describe the clinical utility of an old ECG parameter that can estimate ventricular activation delay:the onset to intrinsicoid deflection(ID).Based on the concept of direct measurement of ventricular activation time(intrinsic deflection onset),time to ID onset measures on the surface ECG the time that the electrical activation time takes to reach the area subtended by the corresponding surface ECG lead.Based on this principle,the time to ID on the lateral leads can estimate the delay activation to the lateral LV wall and can be used as a predictor for CRT response,particularly in patients with non-specific intraventricular conduction delay or in patients with left bundle branch block and QRS<150 ms.The aim of this review is to present the current evidence and potential use of this ECG parameter to estimate LV activation and predict CRT response. | Rubén KA Tapia-Orihuela S Michael Gharacholou Samuel J Asirvatham Freddy Del-Carpio Munoz | 2022 | Journal of Geriatric Cardiology2022，19，1： | 3 |
| 7 | Optimization and kinetic studies for enzymatic hydrolysis and fermentation of colocynthis vulgaris Shrad seeds shell for bioethanol production显示文摘The key process parameters for the hydrolysis and fermentation of Colocynthis vulgaris Shrad seeds shell(CVSSS)were optimized using the Box-Behnken Design(BBD)of Response Surface Methodology(RSM).Kinetic study was also carried out.The proximate analysis of the CVSSS was done by the method of the Association of Organic and Applied Chemistry(AOAC).Enzymatic hydrolysis was experimented by using Aspergillus Niger as a crude enzyme isolated from soil at sawdust dump site and screened for cellulosic activities.Factors that affected the hydrolysis of the CVSSS were screened by using the Greco-Latin square design of experiment.However,for Saccharomyces cerevisiae,factors that affected the fermentation of the CVSSS were screened by using the same Greco-Latin square design of experiment.Meanwhile,the result of the proximate analysis revealed that the CVSSS had 73.54%cellulose which could be converted to bioethanol.It was established that temperature,pH and time had significant effect on hydrolysis,while the optimum results were obtained at 46.8℃,3.32 d,5.68 and 59.87%for temperature,time,pH and glucose yield,respectively.Temperature,yeast dosage,pH and time had significant effect on fermentation,while the optimum results from optimization were found to be 33.58℃,7.0,3.55 d,1.65 g per 50 mL and 25.6%for temperature,pH,time,yeast dosage and ethanol yield,respectively.The kinetics of both the enzymatic hydrolysis and fermentation agreed with the Michealis-Menten kinetic model with the correlation coefficients(R^(2))of 0.9708 and 0.8773,respectively.However,from the error analysis,the experimental and predicted values had a very good relationship as described by Michaelis-Menten model. | Igwilo Christopher Nnaemeka Egbuna Samuel O Onoh Maxwell I Asadu OChristain Onyekwulu Chinelo S | 2021 | Journal of Bioresources and Bioproducts2021，6，1： | 3 |

| 11 | Treatment of C2 body fracture with unusual distractive and rotational components resulting in gross instability显示文摘Cervical fractures can result in severe neurological compromise and even death. One of the most commonly injured segments is the C2 vertebrae, which most frequently involves the odontoid process. In this report, we present the unusual case of a 28-year-old female who sustained a C2 vertebral body fracture(comminuted transverse fracture through the body and both transverse processes) that had both a significant distractive and rotational component, causing the fracture to be highly unstable. Application of halo bracing was unsuccessful. The patient subsequently required a C1-C4 posterior spinal fusion.
