Spatial assessment of forest cover and land-use changes in the Hindu-Kush mountain ranges of northern Pakistan显示文摘Anthropogenic activities and natural processes are continuously altering the mountainous environment through deforestation, forest degradation and other land-use changes. It is highly important to assess, monitor and forecast forest cover and other land-use changes for the protection and conservation of mountainous environment. The present study deals with the assessment of forest cover and other land-use changes in the mountain ranges of Dir Kohistan in northern Pakistan, using high resolution multi-temporal SPOT-5 satellite images. The SPOT-5 satellite images of years 2004, 2007, 2010 and 2013 were acquired and classified into land-cover units. In addition, forest cover and land-use change detection map was developed using the classified maps of 2004 and 2013. The classified maps were verified through random field samples and Google Earth imagery(Quick birds and SPOT-5). The results showed that during the period 2004 to 2013 the area of forest land decreased by 6.4%, however, area of range land and agriculture land have increased by 22.1% and 2.9%, respectively. Similarly, barren land increased by 1.1%, whereas, area of snow cover/glacier is significantly decreased by 21.3%. The findings from the study will be useful for forestry and landscape planning and can be utilized by the local, provincial and national forest departments; and REDD+ policy makers in Pakistan.Sami ULLAH Muhammad FAROOQ Muhammad SHAFIQUE Muhammad Afra SIYAB Fazli KAREEM Matthias DEES 2016Journal of Mountain Science2016,13,7:4
Single vs dual(en bloc) kidney transplants from donors ≤ 5 years of age: A single center experience显示文摘AIM: To compare outcomes between single and dual en bloc(EB) kidney transplants(KT) from small pediatric donors. METHODS: Monocentric nonprospective review of KTs from pediatric donors ≤ 5 years of age. Dual EB KT was defined as keeping both donor kidneys attached tothe inferior vena cava and aorta, which were then used as venous and arterial conduits for the subsequent transplant into a single recipient. Donor age was less useful than either donor weight or kidney size in decision-making for kidney utilization as kidneys from donors < 8 kg or kidneys < 6 cm in length were not transplanted. Post-transplant management strategies were standardized in all patients.RESULTS: From 2002-2015, 59 KTs were performed including 34 dual EB and 25 single KTs. Mean age of donors(17 mo vs 38 mo, P < 0.001), mean weight(11.0 kg vs 17.4 kg, P = 0.046) and male donors(50% vs 84%, P = 0.01) were lower in the dual EB compared to the single KT group, respectively. Mean cold ischemia time(21 h), kidney donor profile index(KDPI; 73% vs 62%) and levels of serum creatinine(SCr, 0.37 mg/d L vs 0.49 mg/d L, all P = NS) were comparable in the dual EB and single KT groups, respectively. Actuarial graft and patient survival rates at 5-years follow-up were comparable. There was one case of thrombosis resulting in graft loss in each group. Delayed graft function incidence(12% dual EB vs 20% single KT, P = NS) was slightly lower in dual EB KT recipients. Initial duration of hospital stay(mean 5.4 d vs 5.6 d) and the one-year incidences of acute rejection(6% vs 16%), operative complications(3% vs 4%), and major infection were comparable in the dual EB and single KT groups, respectively(all P = NS). Mean 12 mo SCr and abbreviated MDRD levels were 1.17 mg/d L vs 1.35 mg/d L and 72.5 m L/min per 1.73 m^2 vs 60.5 m L/min per 1.73 m^2(both P = NS) in the dual EB and single KT groups, respectively. CONCLUSION: By transplanting kidneys from young pediatric donors into adult recipients, one can effectively expand the limited donor pool and achieve excellent medium-term outcomes.Yousef Al-Shraideh Umar Farooq Hany El-Hennawy Alan C Farney Amudha Palanisamy Jeffrey Rogers Giuseppe Orlando Muhammad Khan Amber Reeves-Daniel William Doares Scott Kaczmorski Michael D Gautreaux Samy S Iskandar Gloria Hairston Elizabeth Brim Margaret Mangus Robert J Stratta 2016World Journal of Transplantation2016,6,1:3
Why more research needs to be done on echinococcosis in Pakistan显示文摘Background:Echinococcosis has a worldwide geographical distribution with endemic foci on every inhabited continent.Due to the frequent outbreaks in different parts of Pakistan in the recent past, echinococcosis is being described as a neglected tropical disease and is considered one of the most neglected parasitic diseases in the country. In endemic regions, predominantly settings with limited resources, there are high numbers of echinococcosis patients,as these communities do not have access to appropriate treatment. In Pakistan, there are limited reports on echinococcosis. The disease is prevalent in human and livestock, but this has not been sufficiently explored yet.Pakistan is an agricultural country and due to the disease’s zoonotic mode of transmission, there is a dire need of future research on it.The present paper is an effort to highlight the importance of echinococcosis in Pakistan.Discussion:There is a dire need for future research on echinococcosis in Pakistan as very few investigations had been carried out on this topic thus far.The prevalence of the disease in neighbouring countries highlights that Pakistan might be at severe risk of this zoonotic infection and further supports the need for more research. In Pakistan, the majority of the population lives in rural areas with limited acess to proper hygienic/sanitary facilities. These conditions favour the outbreak of diseases such as echinococcosis. The limited available data could result in higher outbreaks in the future, and thus cause the already weak healthcare system to overburden. The country has a meagre annual budget for health, which is being spent on known infections such as polio, dengue fever and hepatic viral infections.A proper surveillance system for echinococcosis is required across the country as treatment is usually expensive, complicated and may require extensive surgery and/or prolonged drug therapy.Development of new/novel drugs and other treatment modalities receives very little,if any, attention.Prognostic awareness programmes against this infection involve deworming of the infected animals, improved food inspection and slaughterhouse hygiene, and public education campaigns. Conclusion:Future research on echinococcosis is anticipated to demonstrate whether the epidemiology, diagnosis and recombinant vaccines/antibodies relating to echinococcosis can meet the quality standards(purity, potency, safety and efficacy)defined by the World Health Organization.Research work should be carried out on the epidemiology and serodiagnosis of echinocossis in the different areas of Pakistan, which will be useful for the proper eradication of echinococcosis in this region. The health department should implement awareness-raising campaigns for the general public in order to reduce the burden of disease.Haroon Ahmed Shahzad Ali Muhammad Sohail Afzal Abid Ali Khan Hamid Raza Zaheer Hussain Shah Sami Simsek 2017Infectious Diseases of Poverty2017,6,1:2
Pathogenicity of bacterium, Xenorhabdus nematophila isolated from entomopathogenic nematode (Steinernema carpocapsae) and its secretion against Galleria mellonella larvae显示文摘The entomopathogenic bacterium, Xenorhabdus nematophila was isolated from the hemolymph of Galleria mel- lonella infected with Steinernema carpocapsae. The bacterial cells and its metabolic secretions have been found lethal to the Galleria larvae. Toxic secretion in broth caused 95% mortality within 4 d of application whereas the bacterial cells caused 93% mortality after 6 d. When filter and sand substrates were compared, the later one was observed as appropriate. Similarly, bacterial cells and secretion in broth were more effective at 14% moisture and 25 °C temperature treatments. Maximum insect mortality (100%) was observed when bacterial concentration of 4×106 cells/ml was used. Similarly, maximum bacterial cells in broth (95%) were penetrated into the insect body within 2 h of their application. However, when stored bacterial toxic secretion was applied to the insects its efficacy declined. On the other hand, when the same toxic secretion was dried and then dissolved either in broth or water was proved to be effective. The present study showed that the bacterium, X. nematophila or its toxic secretion can be used as an important component of integrated pest management against Galleria.MAHAR Ali Nawaz MUNIR Muhammad ELAWAD Sami GOWEN Simon Richard HAGUE Nigel Graham Meckenzi 2005Journal of Zhejiang University-Science B(Biomedicine & Biotechnology)2005,6,6:2
Knowledge, attitudes and practices related to cystic echinococcosis endemicity in Pakistan显示文摘Background:Cystic echinococcosis(CE)is a human and animal health problem in many endemic areas worldwide. It is considered a neglected zoonotic disease caused by the larval form(hydatid cyst)of Echinococcus spp.tapeworm.There are limited studies on echinococcosis in Pakistan. Methods:A cross-sectional survey was conducted to find out recent knowledge, attitudes and practices on the occurrence of cystic echinococcosis in butchers and dog owners in both urban and rural areas of Rawalpindi/Islamabad regions,Pakistan. The quantitative data was collected in the form of questionnaires to investigate the knowledge and awareness of CE among community members and their routine practices that were behind the factors involved in hydatid cyst infection. The practices and infrastructure of abattoirs/butcher shops and their role in transmission of cystic echinococcosis were also evaluated in the present study. Results:The participants involved in the study were dog owners and people who kept animals.A total of 400 people were interviewed and 289 questionnaires were received. The results showed that only 4.1%of people have heard about the disease, and 58.1%were closely associated with dogs.Sixty-three percent of dogs in study area were consuming uncooked organs(e.g.liver,lung,etc.)of slaughtered animals, while 100%of dogs at butcher shops were consuming uncooked organs.Home slaughtering was common in 20.06%.Among butchers,32.3%had heard about zoonoses and 7.61%knew about CE.The statistical analysis showed that there was highly significant difference(P<0.05)among most of the practices that were associated with the prevalence of CE.Conclusions:It was concluded from the present study that, the knowledge and awareness of CE among people of Rawalpindi/Islamabad were low.Because of dogs and poor knowledge of CE among community members and butchers, the transmission of echinococcosis is facilitated. Therefore, there is urgent need to strengthen awareness and health education among people,as well as proper practices related to the CE not only in the study area, but also in other areas of Pakistan.Aisha Khan Kashf Naz Haroon Ahmed Sami Simsek Muhammad Sohail Afzal Waseem Haider Sheikh Saeed Ahmad Sumaira Farrakh Wu Weiping Guan Yayi 2018Infectious Diseases of Poverty2018,7,1:1
Quantitative estimation of dust fall and smoke particles in Quetta Valley显示文摘Tightening of air quality standards for populated urban areas has led to increasing attention to assessment of air quality management areas, where violation of air quality standards occurs, and development of control strategies to eliminate such vio-lation of air quality standards. The Quetta urban area is very densely built and has heavy motorized traffic. The increase of emis-sions mainly from traffic and industry are responsible for the increase in atmospheric pollution levels during the last years. The dust examined in the current study was collected by both deposit gauge and Petri dish methods at various sites of Quetta Valley. Smoke particles were obtained by bladder method from the exhausts of various types of motor vehicles. The concentration of lead found in the smoke ranged from 1.5×10?6 to 4.5×10?6.SAMI Muhammad WASEEM Amir AKBAR Sher 2006Journal of Zhejiang University-Science B(Biomedicine & Biotechnology)2006,7,7:1

Significance of activation energy and Wu's slip features in Cross nanofluid with motile microorganisms显示文摘The current article investigates the impact of the bioconvection in an unsteady flow of magnetized Cross nanofluid with gyrotactic microorganisms and activation energy over a linearly stretched configuration. The analysis has been performed by utilizing the realistic Wu's slip boundary and zero mass flux conditions. The effects of nonlinear thermal radiation and the activation energy are also addressed. The governing flow equations are deduced to a dimensionless form by considering suitable transformations which are numerically targeted via a shooting algorithm. The physical visualization of each physical parameter governing the flow problem has been displayed graphically for distribution of velocity, temperature, concentration and motile microorganisms. The numerical treatment for the variation of skin friction coefficient, local Nusselt number, local Sherwood number and motile density number is performed in tabular forms.Sami Ullah Khan Hassan Waqas Taseer Muhammad Muhammad Imran Malik Zaka Ullah 2020Communications in Theoretical Physics2020,72,10:0
Computational Analysis for Computer Network Model with Fuzziness显示文摘A susceptible, exposed, infectious, quarantined and recovered(SEIQR)model with fuzzy parameters is studied in this work.Fuzziness in the model arises due to the different degrees of susceptibility, exposure, infectivity, quarantine and recovery among the computers under consideration due to the different sizes, models, spare parts, the surrounding environments of these PCs and many other factors like the resistance capacity of the individual PC against the virus, etc. Each individual PC has a different degree of infectivity and resis-tance against infection. In this scenario, the fuzzy model has richer dynamics than its classical counterpart in epidemiology. The reproduction number of the developed model is studied and the equilibrium analysis is performed. Two different techniques are employed to solve the model numerically.Numerical simulations are performed and the obtained results are compared.Positivity and convergence are maintained by the suggested technique which are the main features of the epidemic models.Wafa F.Alfwzan Dumitru Baleanu Fazal Dayan Sami Ullah Nauman Ahmed Muhammad Rafiq Ali Raza 2023Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing2023,37,8:0
Variations in Surface Urban Heat Island and Urban Cool Island Intensity:A Review Across Major Climate Zones显示文摘The climate has an impact on the urban thermal environment, and the magnitude of the surface urban heat island(SUHI)and urban cool island(UCI)vary across the world’s climatic zones. This literature review investigated:1)the variations in the SUHI and UCI intensity under different climatic backgrounds, and 2)the effect of vegetation types, landscape composition, urban configuration, and water bodies on the SUHI.The SUHI had a higher intensity in tropical(Af(tropical rainy climate,Köppen climate classification),Am(tropical monsoon climate),subtropical(Cfa,subtropical humid climate),and humid continental(Dwa,semi-humid and semi-arid monsoon climate)climate zones. The magnitude of the UCI was low compared to the SUHI across the climate zones. The cool and dry Mediterranean(Cfb,temperate marine climate;Csb,temperate mediterranean climate;Cfa)and tropical climate(Af)areas had a higher cooling intensity. For cities with a desert climate(BWh,tropical desert climate),a reverse pattern was found. The difference in the SUHI in the night-time was greater than in the daytime for most cities across the climate zones. The extent of green space cooling was related to city size, the adjacent impervious surface, and the local climate.Additionally, the composition of urban landscape elements was more significant than their configuration for sustaining the urban thermal environment. Finally,we identified future research gaps for possible solutions in the context of sustainable urbanization in different climate zones.Muhammad Sadiq KHAN Sami ULLAH CHEN Liding 2023Chinese Geographical Science2023,33,6:0
Numerical Simulation for Bioconvection of Unsteady Stagnation Point Flow of Oldroyd-B Nanofluid with Activation Energy and Temperature-Based Thermal Conductivity Past a Stretching Disk显示文摘A mathematical modeling is explored to scrutinize the unsteady stagnation point flow of Oldroyd-B nanofluid under the thermal conductivity and solutal diffusivity with bioconvection mechanism.Impacts of Joule heating and Arrhenius activation energy including convective boundary conditions are studied, and the specified surface temperature and constant temperature of wall(CTW)are discussed. The consequences of thermal conductivity and diffusivity are also taken into account. The flow is generated through stretchable disk geometry, and the behavior of non-linear thermal radiation is incorporated in energy equation. The partial differential equations governing the fluid flow in the structure is reduced into dimensionless nonlinear ODEs by applying suitable similarity variables. The obtained system of non-dimensional nonlinear ODEs is treated numerically with the help of bvp4c solver in Matlab under shooting algorithm. The impact of various prominent parameters on velocity profile, thermal profile, volumetric nanoparticle concentration and microorganism distribution is depicted in graphical form. The numerical outcomes for skin friction coefficient, heat transfer rate,Sherwood number as well as microorganism density number versus various parameters are listed in the tables. The results show that fluid velocity is reduced by increasing buoyancy ratio parameter, while the fluid flow increases with mixed convective parameter. The temperature profile is enhanced with the amount of nonlinear thermal radiation and temperature dependent thermal conductivity.Furthermore, concentration profiles of nanoparticles have opposite behavior for Brownian motion coefficient and thermophoresis diffusion parameter, and it is noticed that by varying Peclet number the microorganisms profile is declined. The proposed study is useful to control and optimize heat transfer in industrial applications.Muhammad Sami Rashad Haihu Liu Shan Ali Khan 2022Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences2022,,1:0
Space Division Multiple Access for Cellular V2X Communications显示文摘Vehicular communication is the backbone of future Intelligent Transportation Systems(ITS).It offers a network-based solution for vehicle safety, cooperative awareness, and traffic management applications. For safety applications,Basic Safety Messages(BSM)containing mobility information is shared by the vehicles in their neighborhood to continuously monitor other nearby vehicles and prepare a local traffic map.BSMs are shared using mode 4 of Cellular V2X(C-V2X)communications in which resources are allocated in an ad hoc manner. However, the strict packet transmission requirements of BSM and hidden node problem causes packet collisions in a vehicular network, thus reducing the reliability of safety applications. Moreover,as vehicles choose the transmission resources in a distributed manner in mode 4 of CV2X,the packet collision problem is further aggravated. This paper presents a novel solution in the form of a Space Division Multiple Access(SDMA)protocol that intelligently schedules BSM transmissions using vehicle position data to reduce concurrent transmissions from hidden node interferers. The proposed protocol works by dividing road segments into clusters and subclusters.Several sub-frames are allocated to a cluster and these sub-frames are reused after a certain distance.Within a cluster,sub-channels are allocated to sub-clusters.We implement the proposed SDMA protocol and evaluate its performance in a highway vehicular network.Simulation results show that the proposed SDMA protocol outperforms standard Sensing-Based Semi Persistent Scheduling(SB-SPS)in terms of safety range and packet delay.Doaa Sami Khafaga Mohammad Zubair Khan Muhammad Awais Javed Amel Ali Alhussan Wael Said 2022Computers, Materials & Continua2022,,10:0
Medical therapy vs early revascularization in diabetics with chronic total occlusions:A meta-analysis and systematic review显示文摘BACKGROUND Management of chronic total occlusions(CTO)in diabetics is challenging, with a recent trend towards early revascularization[ER:Percutaneous coronary intervention(PCI)and bypass grafting]instead of optimal medical therapy(OMT).We hypothesize that ER improves morbidity and mortality outcomes in diabetic patients with CTOs as compared to OMT.AIM To determine the long term clinical outcomes and to compare morbidity and mortality between OMT and ER in diabetic patients with CTOs.METHODS Potentially relevant published clinical trials were identified in Medline,Embase, chemical abstracts and Biosis(from start of the databases till date)and pooled hazard ratios(HR)computed using a random effects model, with significant P value<0.05.Primary outcome of interest was all-cause death.Secondary outcomes included cardiac death, prompt revascularization(ER)or repeat myocardial infarction(MI).Due to scarcity of data, both Randomized control trials and observational studies were included.4 eligible articles, containing 2248 patients were identified(1252 in OMT and 1196 in ER).Mean follow-up was 45-60 mo.RESULTS OMT was associated with a higher all-cause mortality[HR:1.70,95%confidence interval(CI):0.80-3.26,P=0.11]and cardiac mortality(HR:1.68,95%CI:0.96-2.96,P=0.07).Results were close to significance. The risk of repeat MI was almost the same in both groups(HR:0.97,95%CI:0.61-1.54,P=0.90).Similarly,patients assigned to OMT had a higher risk of repeat revascularization(HR:1.62,95%CI:1.36-1.94,P<0.00001).Sub-group analysis of OMT vs PCI demonstrated higher all-cause(HR:1.98,95%CI:1.36-2.87,P=0.0003)and cardiac mortality(HR:1.87,95%CI:0.96-3.62,P=0.06)in the OMT group. The risk of repeat MI was low in the OMT group vs PCI(HR:0.53,95%CI:0.31-0.91,P=0.02).Data on repeat revascularization revealed no difference between the two(HR:1.00,95%CI:0.52-1.93,P=1.00).CONCLUSION In diabetic patients with CTO,there was a trend for improved outcomes with ER regarding all-cause and cardiac death as compared to OMT.These findings were reinforced with statistical significance on subgroup analysis of OMT vs PCI.Muhammad Shayan Khan Farhad Sami Hemindermeet Singh Waqas Ullah Ma'en Al-Dabbas Khalid Hamid Changal Tanveer Mir Zain Ali Ameer Kabour 2020World Journal of Cardiology2020,12,11:0
Combining Landsat-8 spectral bands with ancillary variables for land cover classification in mountainous terrains of northern Pakistan显示文摘Landsat-8 spectral values have been used to map the earth’s surface information for decades. However, forest types and other land-use/land-cover(LULC)in the mountain terrains exist on different altitudes and climatic conditions.Hence, spectral information alone cannot be sufficient to accurately classify the forest types and other LULC,especially in high mountain complex. In this study, the suitability of Landsat-8 spectral bands and ancillary variables to discriminate forest types, and other LULC,using random forest(RF)classification algorithm for the Hindu Kush mountain ranges of northern Pakistan, was discussed. After prior-examination(multicollinearity)of spectral bands and ancillary variables, three out of six spectral bands and five out of eight ancillary variables were selected with threshold correlation coefficients r2<0.7.The selected datasets were stepwise stacked together and six Input Datasets(ID)were created. The first ID-1 includes only the Surface Reflectance(SR)of spectral bands, and then in each ID,the extra one ancillary variable including Normalized Difference Vegetation Index(NDVI),Normalized Difference Water Index(NDWI),Normalized Difference Snow Index(NDSI),Land Surface Temperature(LST),and Digital Elevation Model(DEM)was added. We found an overall accuracy(OA)=72.8%and kappa coefficient(KC)=61.9%for the classification of forest types, and other LULC classes by using the only SR bands of Landsat-8.The OA=81.5%and KC=73.7%was improved by the addition of NDVI,NDWI,and NDSI to the spectral bands of Landsat-8.However,the addition of LST and DEM further increased the OA,and Kappa coefficient(KC)by 87.5%and 82.6%,respectively.This indicates that ancillary variables play an important role in the classification, especially in the mountain terrain, and should be adopted in addition to spectral bands. The output of the study will be useful for the protection and conservation, analysis, climate change research, and other mountains forest-related management information.Arif UR REHMAN Sami ULLAH Muhammad SHAFIQUE Muhammad Sadiq KHAN Muhammad Tariq BADSHAH LIU Qi-jing 2021Journal of Mountain Science2021,18,9:0
Insight into the dynamics of non-Newtonian Carreau fluid when viscous dissipation, entropy generation, convective heating and diffusion are significant显示文摘The investigation endorsed the convective flow of Carreau nanofluid over a stretched surface in presence of entropy generation optimization. The novel dynamic of viscous dissipation is utilized to analyze the thermal mechanism of magnetized flow. The convective boundary assumptions are directed in order to examine the heat and mass transportation of nanofluid. The thermal concept of thermophoresis and Brownian movements has been re-called with the help of Buongiorno model. The problem formulated in dimensionless form is solved by NDSolve MATHEMATICA.The graphical analysis for parameters governed by the problem is performed with physical applications. The affiliation of entropy generation and Bejan number for different parameters is inspected in detail. The numerical data for illustrating skin friction, heat and mass transfer rate is also reported. The motion of the fluid is highest for the viscosity ratio parameter. The temperature of the fluid rises via thermal Biot number.Entropy generation rises for greater Brinkman number and diffusion parameter.ZHOU Shuang-shuang Muhammad Ijaz Khan Sami Ullah Khan Sumaira Qayyum 2024Applied Mathematics(A Journal of Chinese Universities)2024,39,1:0
Deep Learning and Machine Learning-Based Model for Conversational Sentiment Classification显示文摘In the current era of the internet, people use online media for conversation, discussion, chatting, and other similar purposes.Analysis of such material where more than one person is involved has a spate challenge as compared to other text analysis tasks. There are several approaches to identify users’emotions fromthe conversational text for the English language, however regional or low resource languages have been neglected. The Urdu language is one of them and despite being used by millions of users across the globe, with the best of our knowledge there exists no work on dialogue analysis in the Urdu language. Therefore,in this paper,we have proposed a model which utilizes deep learning and machine learning approaches for the classification of users’emotions from the text.To accomplish this task,we have first created a dataset for the Urdu language with the help of existing English language datasets for dialogue analysis. After that,we have preprocessed the data and selected dialogues with common emotions.Once the dataset is prepared,we have used different deep learning and machine learning techniques for the classification of emotion. We have tuned the algorithms according to the Urdu language datasets. The experimental evaluation has shown encouraging results with 67%accuracy for the Urdu dialogue datasets, more than 10,000 dialogues are classified into five emotions i.e.,joy,fear,anger,sadness,and neutral. We believe that this is the first effort for emotion detection from the conversational text in the Urdu language domain.Sami Ullah Muhammad Ramzan Talib Toqir A.Rana Muhammad Kashif Hanif Muhammad Awais 2022Computers, Materials & Continua2022,,8:0
Adaptive Runtime Monitoring of Service Level Agreement Violations in Cloud Computing显示文摘The cloud service level agreement(SLA)manage the relationship between service providers and consumers in cloud computing.SLA is an integral and critical part of modern era IT vendors and communication contracts.Due to low cost and flexibility more and more consumers delegate their tasks to cloud providers, the SLA emerges as a key aspect between the consumers and providers.Continuous monitoring of Quality of Service(QoS)attributes is required to implement SLAs because of the complex nature of cloud communication. Many other factors, such as user reliability, satisfaction, and penalty on violations are also taken into account.Currently, there is no such policy of cloud SLA monitoring to minimize SLA violations. In this work,we have proposed a cloud SLA monitoring policy by dividing a monitoring session into two parts, for critical and non-critical parameters. The critical and non-critical parameters will be decided on the interest of the consumer during SLA negotiation. This will help to shape a new comprehensive SLA based Proactive Resource Allocation Approach(RPAA)which will monitor SLA at runtime, analyze the SLA parameters and try to find the possibility of SLA violations. We also have implemented an adaptive system for allocating cloud IT resources based on SLA violations and detection. We have defined two main components of SLA-PRAA i.e.,(a)Handler and(b)Accounting and Billing Manager. We have also described the function of both components through algorithms. The experimental results validate the performance of our proposed method in comparison with state-of-the-art cloud SLA policies.Sami Ullah Khan Babar Nazir Muhammad Hanif Akhtar Ali Sardar Alam Usman Habib 2022Computers, Materials & Continua2022,,6:0
General Solution for Unsteady Natural Convection Flow with Heat and Mass in the Presence of Wall Slip and Ramped Wall Temperature显示文摘This work is focused on the effect of heat and mass transfer with unsteady natural convection flow of viscous fluid along with ramped wall temperature under the assumption of the slip wall condition at the boundary. Analytical solutions are obtained by using Laplace transformation to the non-dimensional set of governing equations containing velocity, temperature and concentration. Moreover, the expression for skin-friction is derived by differentiating the analytical solutions of fluid velocity. Numerical tables for Skin-friction, Sherwood number and Nusselt-number are examined. For the physical aspects of the flow, we use various values of involved physical parameters such as Prandtl number(Pr), slip parameter(η), Schmidt number(Sc), buoyancy ratio parameter(N), Sherwood number(Sh), and time(t). Additionally, the general solutions are plotted graphically and a comprehensive theoretical section of numerical discussions is included.Saeed Ullah Jan Sami Ul Haq Syed Inayat Ali Shah Ilyas Khan Muhammad Atif Khan 2019Communications in Theoretical Physics2019,71,6:0
Enhancing Energy Efficiency with a Dynamic Trust Measurement Scheme in Power Distribution Network显示文摘The application of Intelligent Internet of Things(IIoT)in constructing distribution station areas strongly supports platform transformation, upgrade, and intelligent integration. The sensing layer of IIoT comprises the edge convergence layer and the end sensing layer, with the former using intelligent fusion terminals for real-time data collection and processing. However, the influx of multiple low-voltage in the smart grid raises higher demands for the performance, energy efficiency, and response speed of the substation fusion terminals.Simultaneously,it brings significant security risks to the entire distribution substation, posing a major challenge to the smart grid.In response to these challenges,a proposed dynamic and energy-efficient trust measurement scheme for smart grids aims to address these issues. The scheme begins by establishing a hierarchical trust measurement model, elucidating the trust relationships among smart IoT terminals. It then incorporates multidimensional measurement factors, encompassing static environmental factors, dynamic behaviors, and energy states. This comprehensive approach reduces the impact of subjective factors on trust measurements.Additionally, the scheme incorporates a detection process designed for identifying malicious low-voltage end sensing units, ensuring the prompt identification and elimination of any malicious terminals. This,in turn, enhances the security and reliability of the smart grid environment. The effectiveness of the proposed scheme in pinpointing malicious nodes has been demonstrated through simulation experiments.Notably, the scheme outperforms established trust metric models in terms of energy efficiency, showcasing its significant contribution to the field.Yilei Wang Xin Sun Guiping Zheng Ahmar Rashid Sami Ullah Hisham Alasmary Muhammad Waqas 2024Computers, Materials & Continua2024,78,3:0
In vitro inhibitory analysis of consensus siRNAs against NS3 gene of hepatitis C virus 1a genotype显示文摘Objective: To explore inhibitory effects of genome-specific, chemically synthesized siRNAs(small interference RNA) against NS3 gene of hepatitis C virus(HCV) 1a genotype in stable Huh-7(human hepatoma) cells as well as against viral replication in serum-inoculated Huh-7 cells. Methods: Stable Huh-7 cells persistently expressing NS3 gene were produced under antibiotic gentamycin(G418) selection. The cell clones resistant to 1 000 μg antibiotic concentration(G418) were picked as stable cell clones. The NS3 gene expression in stable cell clone was confirmed by RT-PCR and Western blotting. siRNA cell cytotoxicity was determined by MTT cell proliferation assay. Stable cell lines were transfected with sequence specific siRNAs and their inhibitory effects were determined by RT-PCR, real-time PCR and Western blotting. The viral replication inhibition by siRNAs in serum inoculated Huh-7 cells was determined by real-time PCR. Results: RT-PCR and Western blot analysis confirmed NS3 gene and protein expression in stable cell lines on day 10, 20 and 30 post transfection. MTT cell proliferation assay revealed that at most concentrated dose tested(50 nmol/L), siRNA had no cytotoxic effects on Huh-7 cells and cell proliferation remained unaffected. As demonstrated by the siRNA time-dependent inhibitory analysis, siRNA NS3-is44 showed maximum inhibition of NS3 gene in stable Huh-7 cell clones at 24(80%, P=0.013) and 48 h(75%, P=0.002) post transfection. The impact of siRNAs on virus replication in serum inoculated Huh-7 cells also demonstrated significant decrease in viral copy number, where siRNA NS3-is44 exhibited 70%(P<0.05) viral RNA reduction as compared to NS3-is33, which showed a 64%(P<0.05) decrease in viral copy number. siRNA synergism(NS3-is33 + NS3-is44) decreased viral load by 84%(P<0.05) as compared to individual inhibition by each siRNA(i.e., 64%–70%(P<0.05) in serum-inoculated cells. Synthetic siRNAs mixture(NS5Bis88 + NS3-is33) targeting different region of HCV genome(NS5B and NS3) also decreased HCV viral load by 85%(P< 0.05) as compared to siRNA inhibitory effects alone(70% and 64% respectively, P<0.05). Conclusions: siRNAs directed against NS3 gene significantly decreased m RNA and protein expression in stable cell clones. Viral replication was also vividly decreased in serum infected Huh-7 cells. Stable Huh-7 cells expressing NS3 gene is helpful to develop anti-hepatitis C drug screening assays. siRNA therapeutic potential along with other anti-HCV agents can be considered against hepatitis C.Imran Shahid Waleed Hassan Al Malki Mohammed Wanees Al Rabia Mohammed Hasan Mukhtar Shaia Saleh R.Almalki Saad Ahmed Alkahtani Sami S.Ashgar Hani S.Faidah Muhammad Hassan Hafeez 2017Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Medicine2017,10,7:0
