| 1 | Rhizospheric microbial communities are driven by Panax ginseng at different growth stages and biocontrol bacteria alleviates replanting mortality显示文摘The cultivation of Panax plants is hindered by replanting problems, which may be caused by plantdriven changes in the soil microbial community. Inoculation with microbial antagonists may efficiently alleviate replanting issues. Through high-throughput sequencing, this study revealed that bacterial diversity decreased,whereas fungal diversity increased, in the rhizosphere soils of adult ginseng plants at the root growth stage under different ages. Few microbial community, such as Luteolibacter, Cytophagaceae, Luteibacter, Sphingomonas,Sphingomonadaceae, and Zygomycota, were observed; the relative abundance of microorganisms, namely,Brevundimonas, Enterobacteriaceae, Pandoraea, Cantharellales, Dendryphion, Fusarium, and Chytridiomycota,increased in the soils of adult ginseng plants compared with those in the soils of 2-year-old seedlings. Bacillus subtilis 50-1, a microbial antagonist against the pathogenic Fusarium oxysporum, was isolated through a dual culture technique. These bacteria acted with a biocontrol efficacy of 67.8%. The ginseng death rate and Fusarium abundance decreased by 63.3% and 46.1%, respectively, after inoculation with B. subtilis 50-1. Data revealed that microecological degradation could result from ginseng-driven changes in rhizospheric microbial communities;these changes are associated with the different ages and developmental stages of ginseng plants. | 2 | Preliminary study on proteomics of gastric carcinoma and its clinical significance显示文摘AIM: To explore the preliminary identification of serum protein pattern models that may be novel potential biomarkers in the detection of gastric cancer.METHODS: A total of 130 serum samples, including 70 from patients with gastric cancer and 60 from healthy adults, were detected by surface-enhanced laser desorption and ionization time-of-flight mass spectrometry (SELDI-TOF-MS). The data of spectra were analyzed by Biomarker Patterns Software (BPS). Thirty serum samples of gastric cancer patients and 30 serum samples of healthy adults were grouped into the training group to build models, and the other 70 samples were used to test and evaluate the models. The samples of the test group were judged only with their peaks'height and were separated into cancer group or healthy control group by BPS automatically and the judgments were checked with the histopathologic diagnosis of the samples.RESULTS: Sixteen mass peaks were found to be potential biomarkers with a significant level of P<0.01.Among them, nine mass peaks showed increased expression in patients with gastric cancer. Analyzed by BPS, two peaks were chosen to build the model for gastric cancer detection. The sensitivity, specificity, and accuracy of the model were 90%, 36/40, 86.7%, 26/30,and 88.6%, 62/70, respectively, which were greatly higher than those of clinically used serum biomarkers CEA (carcinoembryonic antigen), CA19-9 and CA72-4.Stage Ⅰ/Ⅱ gastric cancer samples of the test group were all judged correctly.CONCLUSION: The novel biomarkers in serum and the established model could be potentially used in the detection of gastric cancer. | 4 | Treatment and outcomes of 1041 pediatric patients with neuroblastoma who received multidisciplinary care in China显示文摘Importance:Neuroblastoma is the most common extracranial malignant solid tumor in children.Multidisciplinary care is critical to improving the survival of pediatric patients with neuroblastoma.Objective:To systematically summarize the clinical characteristics of children with neuroblastoma and evaluate their prognosis with multidisciplinary care provided in a single center.Methods:This retrospective study analyzed the clinical data of 1041 patients with neuroblastoma who were diagnosed,treated,and followed-up in the Hematology-Oncology Center of Beijing Children’s Hospital from 2007 to 2019.Results:The median age at diagnosis was 34 months;80.8%of the patients were younger than 5 years of age.Notably,243 patients(23.3%)were classified as low-risk,249 patients(23.9%)were classified as intermediate-risk,and 549(52.7%)were classified as high-risk.Furthermore,956 patients underwent surgical resections;986(94.7%)patients received chemotherapy;and 176 patients with high-risk neuroblastoma received hematopoietic stem cell transplantation.The 5-year event-free survival(EFS)rate was 91.3%and 5-year overall survival(OS)rate was 97.5%in low-risk group;in the intermediate-risk group,these rates were 85.1%and 96.7%,respectively,while they were 37.7%and 48.9%in the high-risk group(P<0.001 for both).The 5-year EFS and OS rates were significantly higher in patients diagnosed between 2015 and 2019 than in patients diagnosed between 2007 and 2014(P<0.001).In total,278 patients(26.7%)exhibited tumor relapse or progression;the median interval until relapse or progression was 14 months.Of the 233 patients who died,83%died of relapse or progression of neuroblastoma and 4.3%died of therapy-related complications.Interpretation:The 5-year OS rate was low in high-risk patients,compared with low-and intermediate-risk patients.Multidisciplinary care is critical for improvement of survival in pediatric patients with neuroblastoma.Additional treatment strategies should be sought to improve the prognosis of patients with high-risk neuroblastoma. | Yan Su Hong Qin Chenghao Chen Shengcai Wang Shihan Zhang Dawei Zhang Mei Jin Yun Peng Lejian He Xiaoman Wang Suyun Qian Maoquan Qin Ming Ge Fuquan Zhang Qi Zeng Huanmin Wang Xiaoli Ma Xin Ni | 2020 | Pediatric Investigation2020,4,3: | 16 |
| 5 | Physical and mechanical properties of sandstone containing a single fissure after exposure to high temperatures显示文摘In order to investigate the physical and mechanical properties of sandstone containing fissures after exposure to high temperatures,fissures with different angles α were prefabricated in the plate sandstone samples,and the processed samples were then heated at 5 different temperatures.Indoor uniaxial compression was conducted to analyze the change rules of physical properties of sandstone after exposure to high temperature,and the deformation,strength and failure characteristics of sandstone containing fissures.The results show that,with increasing temperature,the volume of sandstone increases gradually while the quality and density decrease gradually,and the color of sandstone remains basically unchanged while the brightness increases markedly when the temperature is higher than 585 ℃;the peak strength of sandstone containing fissures first decreases then increases when the temperature is between 25℃and 400℃.The peak strain of sandstone containing fissures increases gradually while the average modulus decreases gradually with increasing temperature,and the mechanical properties of sandstone show obvious deterioration after 400 ℃.The peak strain of sandstone containing fissures increases gradually while the average modulus decreases gradually with increasing temperature;with increasing angle αof the fissure,the evolution characteristics of the macro-mechanical parameters of sandstone are closely related to the their own mechanical properties.When the temperature is 800 ℃,the correlation between the peak strength and average modulus of sandstone and the angle α of the fissure is obviously weakened.The failure modes of sandstone containing fissures after high temperature exposure are of three different kinds including:tensile crack failure,tensile and shear cracks mixed failure,and shear crack failure.Tensile and shear crack mixed failure occur mainly at low temperatures and small angles;tensile crack failure occurs at high temperatures and large angles. | Zhu Tantan Jing Hongwen Su Haijian Yin Qian Du Mingrui Han Guansheng | 2016 | International Journal of Mining Science and Technology2016,26,2: | 15 |
| 6 | Prevalence and characteristics of MAFLD in Chinese adults aged 40 years or older:A community-based study显示文摘Background: Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD) was recently proposed to be renamed metabolic dysfunction-associated fatty liver disease(MAFLD) with the diagnostic criteria revised. We investigated the similarities and differences in the prevalence and clinical characteristics of MAFLD and NAFLD in Chinese adults. Methods: A cross-sectional study of 9980 Chinese individuals aged 40 years or older was performed between 2011 and 2012 using randomized, stratifed cluster sampling in Shanghai, China. A detailed questionnaire and the results of abdominal ultrasonography, a standardized 2-h 75-g oral glucose tolerance test and blood biochemical examinations were collected. Results: A total of 9927 subjects were included in this study. The prevalence of MAFLD(40.3%) was significantly higher than that of NAFLD(36.9%)( P < 0.05). MAFLD was highly prevalent in type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM)(53.8%), impaired fasting glucose(35.7%) and impaired glucose tolerance(40.9%). High risk of advanced fbrosis based on fbrosis-4 was highly prevalent(14.7%) in lean MAFLD with T2DM. Among 9927 subjects, 3481(35.1%) fulflled the diagnostic criteria for MAFLD and NAFLD(MAFLD + NAFLD +), 521(5.2%) MAFLD + NAFLD-, and 181(1.8%) MAFLD-NAFLD +. The MAFLD + NAFLD-group had more signifcant metabolic disorders than those in the MAFLD + NAFLD + group(all P < 0.05). Among MAFLD-NAFLD + subjects, 82.9% had metabolic disorders. Conclusions: The new defnition of MAFLD may better reflect the pathogenesis related to metabolism. | 8 | Detecting and monitoring of water inrush in tunnels and coal mines using direct current resistivity method:A review显示文摘Detecting, real-time monitoring and early warning of underground water-bearing structures are critically important issues in prevention and mitigation of water inrush hazards in underground engineering.Direct current(DC) resistivity method is a widely used method for routine detection, advanced detection and real-time monitoring of water-bearing structures, due to its high sensitivity to groundwater. In this study, the DC resistivity method applied to underground engineering is reviewed and discussed,including the observation mode, multiple inversions, and real-time monitoring. It is shown that a priori information constrained inversion is desirable to reduce the non-uniqueness of inversion, with which the accuracy of detection can be significantly improved. The focused resistivity method is prospective for advanced detection; with this method, the flanking interference can be reduced and the detection distance is increased subsequently. The time-lapse resistivity inversion method is suitable for the regions with continuous conductivity changes, and it can be used to monitor water inrush in those regions. Based on above-mentioned features of various methods in terms of benefits and limitations, we propose a three-dimensional(3D) induced polarization method characterized with multi-electrode array, and introduce it into tunnels and mines combining with real-time monitoring with time-lapse inversion and cross-hole resistivity method. | 11 | Outcomes of the national programme on prevention of mother-to-child transmission of hepatitis B virus in China,2016-2017显示文摘Background:In addition to providing free hepatitis B vaccine(HBvacc)series to all infants in China since 2005,the national programme on prevention of mother-to-child transmission(PMTCT)of hepatitis B virus(HBV)started providing free hepatitis B immunoglobulin for all new-borns born to hepatitis B surface-antigen(HBsAg)positive mothers in 2010.However,few studies have evaluated the effectiveness of the PMTCT programme.Therefore,we aimed to investigate the outcomes of the programme and identify associated factors.Method:Using a cross-sectional study design,we collected data on 4112 pairs of HBsAg-positive mothers and their children aged 7-22 months in four representative provinces through interviews and medical record review.We tested HBsAg and hepatitis B surface antibody(anti-HBs)of children by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay at designated maternal and child hospital laboratories.We used logistic regression to analyse factors associated with child HBsAg and anti-HBs positivity.Results:Thirty-five children were HBsAg positive,indicating the mother-to-child transmission(MTCT)rate was 0.9%(0.6-1.1%).The anti-HBs positive rate was 96.8%(96.3-97.4%).Children receiving HBvacc between 12 and 24h of birth were 2.9 times more likely to be infected than those vaccinated in less than 12 h(adjusted odds ratio[aOR]=2.9,95%confidence interval[CI]:1.4-63,P=0.01).Maternal hepatitis B e-antigen(HBeAg)positivity was associated with higher MTCT rate(aOR=79.1,95%Cl:10.8-580.2,P<0.001)and lower anti-HBs positive rate(aOR=0.4,95%CI:03-0.6,P<0.001).Children with low birth weight(LBW)were 60%less likely to be anti-HBs positive than those with normal birth weight(aOR=0A,95%CI:02-0.8,P=0.01).Conclusions:The MTCT rate was lower than the 2030 WHO elimination goal,which implies the programme is on track to achieve this target.As earlier HBvacc birth dose(HBvcc-BD)was associated with lower MTCT rate,we suggest that the PMTCT programme work with the Expanded Programme on Immunization(EPI)to modify the current recommendation for early HBvcc-BD to a requirement Our finding that LBW was associated with lower anti-HBs positivity points to the need for further studies to understand factors associated with these risks and opportunities for program strengthening.The programme needs to ensure providing essential test to identify HBeAg-positive mothers and their infants and provide them with appropriate medical care and follow-up. | Ya-Ping Qiao Min Su Yao Song Xiao-Yan Wang Zhen Li Yan-Lin Li Li-Xia Dou Qian Wang Katrina Hann Guo-Min Zhang Xiao-Na Huang Yu-Ning Yang Xi Jin Ai-Ling Wang | 2019 | Infectious Diseases of Poverty2019,8,4: | 10 |

| 15 | Antitumor activity of an hTERT promoter-regulated tumor-selective oncolytic adenovirus in human hepatocellular carcinoma显示文摘AIM: To construct a tumor-selective replication-competent adenovirus (RCAd), SG300, using a modified promoter of human telomerase reverse transcriptase (hTERT). METHODS: The antitumor efficacy of SG300 in hepatocellular carcinoma was assessed in vitro and in vivo. In vitro cell viability by MTT assay was used to assess the tumor-selective oncolysis and safety features of SG300, and in vivo antitumor activity of SG300 was assessed in established hepatocellular carcinoma models in nude mice. RESULTS: SG300 could lyse hepatocellular carcinoma cells at a low multiplicity of infection (MOI), but could not affect growth of normal cells even at a high MOI. Both in Hep3B and SMMC-7721 xenograft models of hepatocellular carcinoma, SG300 had an obvious antitumor effect, resulting in a decrease in tumor volume. Its selective oncolysis to tumor cells and safety to normal cells was also superior to that of ONYX-015. Pathological examination of tumor specimens showed that SG300 replicated selectively in cancer cells and resulted in apoptosis and necrosis of cancer cells. | 16 | Emerging transporter-targeted nanoparticulate drug delivery systems显示文摘Transporter-targeted nanoparticulate drug delivery systems(nano-DDS) have emerged as promising nanoplatforms for efficient drug delivery. Recently, great progress in transporter-targeted strategies has been made, especially with the rapid developments in nanotherapeutics. In this review, we outline the recent advances in transporter-targeted nano-DDS. First, the emerging transporter-targeted nano-DDS developed to facilitate oral drug delivery are reviewed. These include improvements in the oral absorption of protein and peptide drugs, facilitating the intravenous-to-oral switch in cancer chemotherapy. Secondly, the recent advances in transporter-assisted brain-targeting nano-DDS are discussed,focusing on the specific transporter-based targeting strategies. Recent developments in transportermediated tumor-targeting drug delivery are also discussed.
