2Formation mechanism of a smooth, defectfree surface of fused silica optics using rapid CO2 laser polishing显示文摘Surface defects introduced by conventional mechanical processing methods can induce irreversible damage and reduce the service life of optics applied in high-power lasers.Compared to mechanical processing,laser polishing with moving beam spot is a noncontact processing method,which is able to form a defect-free surface.This work aims to explore the mechanism of forming a smooth,defect-free fused silica surface by high-power density laser polishing with coupled multiple beams.The underlying mechanisms of laser polishing was revealed by numerical simulations and the theoretical results were verified by experiments.The simulated polishing depth and machined surface morphology were in close agreement with the experimental results.To obtain the optimized polishing quality,the effects of laser polishing parameters(e.g.overlap rate,pulse width and polishing times)on the polishing quality were experimentally investigated.It was found that the processing efficiency of fused silica materials by carbon dioxide(CO2)laser polishing could reach 8.68 mm2 s−1,and the surface roughness(Ra)was better than 25 nm.Besides,the cracks on pristine fused silica surfaces introduced by initial grinding process were completely removed by laser polishing to achieve a defect-free surface.The maximum laser polishing rate can reach 3.88μm s−1,much higher than that of the traditional mechanical polishing methods.The rapid CO2 laser polishing can effectively achieve smooth,defect-free surface,which is of great significance to improve the surface quality of fused silica optics applied in high-power laser facilities.Linjie Zhao Jian Cheng Mingjun Chen Xiaodong Yuan Wei Liao Qi Liu Hao Yang Haijun Wang 2019International Journal of Extreme Manufacturing2019,1,3:8
3Potassium Uptake and Transport in Apple Roots Under Drought Stress显示文摘As one of the most important mineral nutrient elements, potassium(K^+) plays an important role in many plant physiological processes and determines both the yield and quality of crops. There are two typical gene families that regulate K^+transport in higher plants, including K^+channels and K^+transporters. However, little is known about how these channels and transporters divide their work in response to drought stress. In this study, the hydroponic experiment was conducted on Malus hupehensis. The K^+content was found to decrease in response to drought stress in M. hupehensis, the aboveground decreased by 34.15% and the underground decreased by 3.97%. Meanwhile, the root morphology change was detected by scanning the root system. Under conditions of drought, the genes encoding K^+transporters were upregulated including MdCHX1.3, MdCHX4.11, MdCHX4.8, MdCHX4.9, Md HKT1, and MdHAK3.2. The net influx of K^+was inhibited by 19.47% with the action of K^+channel inhibitors(CsCl), however a significant decrease(80.99%; P < 0.05) was found in roots exposed to a PM H+-ATPase(orthovanadate) inhibitor by utilizing a non-invasive micro-test technique. The trend of H+efflux was similar to that of K^+. The data suggested that the positive influx of K^+through the transporter accounted for the main K^+uptake under drought stress. These results suggest that we can improve the uptake of K^+by purposely up-regulating specific K^+transporters under drought stress. 4Perspective of energy transfer from light energy into biological energy显示文摘Energy has always been the most concerned topic in the world due to the large consumption. Various types of energy have been exploited and developed to enhance the output amount so that high requirements can be met. Like the hydro-energy, wind energy, and tidal energy, light energy as a renewable, clean, and widespread energy can be easily harvested. In microcosmic scale, some specific proteins and enzymes in green plants and bacteria play an important role in light harvest and energy conversion via photosynthesis. Inspired by the biomimetic sparks,these bioactive macromolecules and some artificially synthetic unites have been integrated together to improve the light-harvesting, and enhance their utilization efficiency. 6Microsatellite-Centromere Mapping in Japanese Scallop(Patinopecten yessoensis) Through Half-Tetrad Analysis in Gynogenetic Diploid Families显示文摘Gene-centromere mapping is an essential prerequisite for understanding the composition and structure of genomes. Half-tetrad analysis is a powerful tool for mapping genes and understanding chromosomal behavior during meiosis. The Japanese scallop(Patinopecten yessoensis), a cold-tolerant species inhabiting the northwestern Pacific coast, is a commercially important marine bivalve in Asian countries. In this study, inheritance of 32 informative microsatellite loci was examined in 70-h D-shaped larvae of three induced meiogynogenetic diploid families of P. yessoensis for centromere mapping using half-tetrad analysis. The ratio of gynogenetic diploids was proven to be 100%, 100% and 96% in the three families, respectively. Inheritance analysis in the control crosses showed that 51 of the 53 genotypic ratios observed were in accordance with Mendelian expectations at the 5% level after Bonferroni correction. Seven of the 32 microsatellite loci showed the existence of null alleles in control crosses. The second division segregation frequency(y) of the microsatellite loci ranged from 0.07 to 0.85 with a mean of 0.38, suggesting the existence of positive interference after a single chiasma formation in some chromosomes in the scallop. Microsatellite-centromere distances ranged from 4 c M to 42 c M under the assumption of complete interference. 7CFD simulation of thermal hydraulic characteristics in a typical upper plenum of RPV显示文摘A comparative computational fluid dynamics(CFD)study was conducted on the three different types of pressurized water reactor(PWR)upper plenum,named TYPE 1(support columns(SCs)and control rod guide tubes(CRGTs)with two large windows),TYPE 2(SCs and CRGTs without windows),and TYPE 3(two parallel perforated barrel shells and CRGTs).First,three types of upper plenum geometry information were collected,simplified,and adopted into the BORA facility,which is a 1/5 scale system of the four-loop PWR reactor.Then,the geometry,including the upper half core,upper plenum region,and hot legs,was built using the Salome platform.After that,an unsteady calculation to simulate the reactor balance operation at hot full power scenario was performed.Finally,the differences of flowrate distribution at the core outlet and temperature distribution and transverse velocity inside the hot legs with different upper plenum internals were compared.The results suggest that TYPE 1 upper plenum internals cause the largest flowrate difference at the core outlet while TYPE 3 leads to the most even distributed flowrate.The distribution and evolution pattern of the tangential velocity inside hot legs is highly dependent on the upper plenum internals.Two counter-rotating swirls exist inside the TYPE 1 hot leg and only one swirl revolving around the hog leg axis exist inside the TYPE 2 hot leg.For TYPE 3,two swirls like that of TYPE 1 rotating around the hot leg axis significantly increase the temperature homogenization speed.This research provides meaningful guidelines for the future optimization and design of advanced PWR upper plenum internal structures.Mingjun WANG Lianfa WANG Yingjie WANG Wenxi TIAN Jian DENG Guanghui SU Suizheng QI 2021Frontiers in Energy2021,15,4:0
8Estimation of Lightning-Generated NO_(x) in the Mainland of China Based on Cloud-to-Ground Lightning Location Data显示文摘Lightning-generated nitrogen oxides(LNO_(x))have a major influence on the atmosphere and global climate change.Therefore,it is of great importance to obtain a more accurate estimation of LNO_(x).The aim of this study is to provide a reference for the accurate estimation of the total LNO_(x) in the mainland of China based on cloud-to-ground lightning(CG)location data from 2014 to 2018.The energy of each CG flash was based on the number of return strokes per CG flash,the peak current of each return stroke,and the assumed CG breakdown voltage.The energy of intracloud lightning(IC)was based on the estimated frequencies of IC and the assumed energy of each IC flash.Combining the energy of lightning and the number of nitric oxide(NO)molecules produced by unit energy(ρno),the total LNO_(x) production in the mainland of China was determined.The LNO_(x) in the mainland of China estimated in this study is in the range(0.157-0.321)×10^(9) kg per year[Tg(N)yr-1],which is on the high end of other scholars’works.Negative cloud-to-ground lightning(NCG)flashes produce the most moles of NO_(x),while positive cloud-to-ground lightning(PCG)flashes produce the least total moles of NO_(x).The breakdown voltage of PCG is greater than that of IC or NCG,while the latter has a greater output of LNO_(x).Qi LI Fengxia GUO Xiaoyu JU Ze LIU Mingjun GAN Kun ZHANG Binbin CAI 2023Advances in Atmospheric Sciences2023,40,1:0
9Potential damage threats to downstream optics caused by Gaussian mitigation pits on rear KDP surface显示文摘To determine whether a potassium dihydrogen phosphate(KDP)surface mitigated by micro-milling would potentially threaten downstream optics,we calculated the light-field modulation based on angular spectrum diffraction theory,and performed a laser damage test on downstream fused silica.The results showed that the downstream light intensification caused by a Gaussian mitigation pit of 800μm width and 10μm depth reached a peak value near the KDP rear surface,decreased sharply afterward,and eventually kept stable with the increase in downstream distance.The solved peak value of light intensification exceeded 6 in a range 8–19 mm downstream from the KDP rear surface,which is the most dangerous for downstream optics.Laser damage sites were then induced on the fused silica surface in subsequent laser damage tests.When the distance downstream was greater than 44 mm with a downstream light intensification of less than 3,there were no potential damage threats to downstream optics.The study proves that a mitigated KDP surface can cause laser damage to downstream optical components,to which attention should be paid in an actual application.Through this work,we find that the current manufacturing process and the mitigation index still need to be improved.The research methods and calculation models are also of great reference significance for related studies like optics mitigation and laser damage.Hao Yang Jian Cheng Zhichao Liu Qi Liu Linjie Zhao Chao Tan Jian Wang Mingjun Chen 2020High Power Laser Science and Engineering2020,8,4:0

11Novel Fiber Optic Current Transformer With New Phase Modulation Method显示文摘Based on the transverse electro-optic effect of lithium niobate crystal,combined with polarizers and Faraday rotator,this paper presents a collinear closed-loop fiber optic current transformer with spatial non-reciprocity modulation method,and the feasibility of the scheme is verified by both the theoretical and experimental evidences.The detection scheme avoids the limitation of the transition time of the sensing fiber coil on the phase modulation frequency,improves the sensitivity and stability of the system,and reduces the volume and cost of fiber optic current transformer.The sawtooth wave modulation scheme is adopted to realize phase bias modulation and feedback modulation through phase shift of sawtooth wave to achieve closed-loop detection effect,which enhances the signal to noise ratio and simplifies demodulation mode.The experimental results show that the current ratio errors measured at room temperature range from 1%to 120%of rated current meet the requirements of national standard GB/T 20840.8-2007 and reach the accuracy level of 0.2S.The temperature stability of the current transformer is also tested,and the ratio error measured at the rated current does not exceed±0.2%in the range of-30℃to 50℃.Yuefeng QI Mingjun WANG Fengxian JIANG Xin ZHANG Bitong CONG Yanyan LIU 2020Photonic Sensors2020,10,3:0
