1Implications of Climate Change on Streamflow of a Snow-Fed River System of the Northwest Himalaya显示文摘Air temperature and snow cover variability are sensitive indicators of climate change. This study was undertaken to forecast and quantify the potential streamflow response to climate change in the Jhelum River basin. The implications of air temperature trends (+0.11°C/decade) reported for the entire north-west Himalaya for past century and the regional warming (+0.7°C/decade) trends of three observatories analyzed between last two decades were used for future projection of snow cover depletion and stream flow. The streamflow was simulated and validated for the year 2007-2008 using snowmelt runoff model (SRM) based on in-situ temperature and precipitation with remotely sensed snow cover area. The simulation was repeated using higher values of temperature and modified snow cover depletion curves according to the assumed future climate. Early snow cover depletion was observed in the basin in response to warmer climate. The results show that with the increase in air temperature, streamflow pattern of Jhelum will be severely affected. Significant redistribution of streamflow was observed in both the scenarios. Higher discharge was observed during spring-summer months due to early snowmelt contribution with water deficit during monsoon months. Discharge increased by 5% 40% during the months of March to May in 2030 and 2050. The magnitude of impact of air temperature is higher in the scenario-2 based on regional warming. 4Deep Learning and SVM-Based Approach for Indian Licence Plate Character Recognition显示文摘Every developing country relies on transportation,and there has been an exponential expansion in the development of various sorts of vehicles with various configurations,which is a major component strengthening the automobile sector.India is a developing country with increasing road traffic,which has resulted in challenges such as increased road accidents and traffic oversight issues.In the lack of a parametric technique for accurate vehicle recognition,which is a major worry in terms of reliability,high traffic density also leads to mayhem at checkpoints and toll plazas.A system that combines an intelligent domain approach with more sustainability indices is a better way to handle traffic density and transparency issues.The Automatic Licence Plate Recognition(ALPR)system is one of the components of the intelligent transportation system for traffic monitoring.This study is based on a comprehensive and detailed literature evaluation in the field of ALPR.The major goal of this study is to create an automatic pattern recognition system with various combinations and higher accuracy in order to increase the reliability and accuracy of identifying digits and alphabets on a car plate.The research is founded on the idea that image processing opens up a diverse environment with allied fields when employing distinct soft techniques for recognition.The properties of characters are employed to recognise the Indian licence plate in this study.For licence plate recognition,more than 200 images were analysed with various parameters and soft computing techniques were applied.In comparison to neural networks,a hybrid technique using a Convolution Neural Network(CNN)and a Support Vector Machine(SVM)classifier has a 98.45%efficiency.Nitin Sharma Mohd Anul Haq Pawan Kumar Dahiya B.R.Marwah Reema Lalit Nitin Mittal Ismail Keshta 2023Computers, Materials & Continua2023,,1:1

14Paediatric cornea crosslinking current strategies:A review显示文摘Background:In the general population,1 in 2000 people has keratoconus.Indians and other people from Southeast Asia have a higher incidence of keratoconus.Children with keratoconus typically present earlier in life and with a more severe disease.Rubbing the eyes has been identified as a risk factor.Children have a higher incidence and a faster rate of keratoconus progression.Visual rehabilitation in children with keratoconus is challenging.They have a low compliance with contact lens use.Many of these children require penetrating keratoplasty at an early age.Therefore,stopping the progression of keratoconus in children is of paramount importance.Main text:Compared to treatment,keratoconus progression prophylaxis is not only preferable,but also easier.Corneal collagen cross-linking has been shown to be safe and effective in stopping its progression in children.The Dresden protocol,which involves central corneal deepithelization(7-9 mm),saturation of the stroma with riboflavin(0.25%),and 30 min UV-A exposure,has proven to be the most successful.Two significant disadvantages of the typical Dresden regimen are the prolonged operating time and the significant post-operative pain.Accelerated-CXL(9 mW/cm^(2) x 10 min)has been studied to reduce operative time and has been shown to be equally effective in some studies.Compared to accelerated CXL or traditional CXL,epi-off procedures,transepithelial treatment without the need for de-epithelialization and without postoperative discomfort,have been shown to be safer but less effective.Corneal crosslinking should only be performed after treating children with active vernal keratoconjunctivitis.Corneal opacity,chronic corneal edema,sterile infiltrates,and microbial keratitis have been reported after cross-linking of corneal collagen.Conclusions:The'Dresden protocol',also known as the conventional corneal cross-linking approach,should be used to halt the progression of keratoconus in young patients.However,if the procedure needs to be completed more rapidly,accelerated corneal crosslinking may be considered.Transepithelial corneal cross-linking has been proven to be less effective at stabilizing keratoconus,although being more safer.Pawan Prasher Ashok Sharma Rajan Sharma Vipan K.Vig Verinder S.Nirankari 2023Advances in Ophthalmology Practice and Research2023,3,2:0

18Role of extracellular vesicles secretion in paclitaxel resistance of prostate cancer cells显示文摘Aim:The development of chemotherapy resistance is the major obstacle in the treatment of advanced prostate cancer(PCa).Extracellular vesicles(EVs)secretion plays a significant role among different mechanisms contributing to chemoresistance.Hence,inhibition of EVs release may increase the efficacy of chemotherapeutic drugs against PCa.Methods:Paclitaxel(PTX)resistant PCa cells(PC3-R and DU145-R)were treated with GW4869,a known exosome biogenesis inhibitor.EVs were isolated from the conditioned media by ExoQuick-based precipitation method and characterized for concentration and size distribution by nanoparticle tracking analysis.The effect of GW4869 treatment on the survival and growth of PCa cells was assessed by MTT,and colony formation assays in vitro,and ectopic PC3-R xenografts in male athymic nude mice in vivo.The effect of other EV biogenesis inhibitors,imipramine and dimethyl amiloride(DMA),treatment was also analyzed on the survival of PC3-R cells.Results:GW4869(10-20μM)treatment of PTX resistant PCa cells significantly reduced the release of small EVs(50-100 nm size range)while increasing the release of larger EVs(>150 nm in size),and inhibited their clonogenicity.Moreover,GW4869(5-20μM)treatment(24-72h)significantly inhibited the survival of PC3-R cells in a dose-dependent manner.We observed a similar growth inhibition with both imipramine(5-20μg/mL)and DMA(5-20μg/mL)treatment in PC3-R cells.Furthermore,GW4869 treatment(IP)in mice bearing PC3-R xenografts significantly reduced the tumor weight(65%reduction,P=0.017)compared to the vehicle-treated control mice without causing any noticeable toxicity.Conclusion:Inhibiting the release of EVs could sensitize the resistant PCa cells to chemotherapy.Ashish Kumar Pawan Kumar Mitu Sharma Susy Kim Sangeeta Singh Steven J.Kridel Gagan Deep 2022Cancer Drug Resistance2022,5,3:0
