| 1 | Dechlorination of chlorophenols by zero valent iron impregnated silica显示文摘Laboratory studies were conducted to find out the efficacy of uniquely prepared zero valent iron impregnated silica in transforming xenobiotic chlorophenols namely 4-chlorophenol,2,4-dichlorophenol and 2,4,6-trichlorophenol.Continuous mode column experiments were performed to investigate the transformation of chlorophenols by varying pH,column height,flow rate and initial chlorophenol concentration.Reusability study of the zero valent iron impregnated silica was studied as well as the morphological changes and the chemical composition of the catalyst medium were also investigated.Dechlorination kinetic studies were conducted and the order of dechlorination of chlorophenols was found to be 2,4,6-trichlorophenol > 2,4-dichlorophenol > 4-chlorophenol.The optimum pH,column height and flow rate were found to be 7,20 cm and 0.75 L/hr respectively for all chlorophenols in the reaction duration of 4 hr.Intermediates formed during dechlorination study were identified by gas chromatography-mass spectroscopy analysis.This method was applied to real pulp and paper wastewater and was found satisfactory. | Praveena Juliya Dorathiy Palanivelu Kandasamy | 2012 | Journal of Environmental Sciences2012，24，4： | 10 |
| 2 | GA and PSO culled hybrid technique for economic dispatch problem with prohibited operating zones显示文摘This paper presents an efficient and reliable genetic algorithm (GA) based particle swarm optimization (PSO) tech- nique (hybrid GAPSO) for solving the economic dispatch (ED) problem in power systems. The non-linear characteristics of the generators, such as prohibited operating zones, ramp rate limits and non-smooth cost functions of the practical generator operation are considered. The proposed hybrid algorithm is demonstrated for three different systems and the performance is compared with the GA and PSO in terms of solution quality and computation efficiency. Comparison of results proved that the proposed algo- rithm can obtain higher quality solutions efficiently in ED problems. A comprehensive software package is developed using MATLAB. | SUDHAKARAN M. | 3 | Ameliorating effect of Semecarpus anacardium Linn.nut milk extract on altered glucose metabolism in high fat diet STZ induced type 2 diabetic rats显示文摘Objective:To explore the protective effect of the drug Semecarpus anacardium(S.anacardium) on altered glucose metabolism in diabetic rats.Methods:Type 2 diabetes mellitus was induced by feeding rats with high fat diet followed by single intraperitoneal injection of streptozotocin (STZ)(35 mg/kg b.w.).Seven days after STZ induction,diabetic rats received nut milk extract of S.anacardium Linn.nut milk extract orally at a dosage of 200 mg/kg daily for 4 weeks.The effect of nut milk extract of S.anacardium on blood glucose,plasma insulin,glucose metabolising enzymes and GSK were studied.Results:Treatment with SA extract showed a significant reduction in blood glucose levels and increase in plasma insulin levels and also increase in HOMA-βand decrease in HOMA -IR.The drug significantly increased the activity of glycolytic enzymes and glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase activity and increased the glycogen content in liver of diabetic rats while reducing the activities of gluconeogenic enzymes.The drug also effectively ameliorated the alterations in GSK-3 mRNA expression.Conclusions:Overall,the present study demonstrates the possible mechanism of glucose regulation of S.anacardium suggestive of its therapeutic potential for the management of diabetes mellitus. | Haseena Banu Hedayathullah Khan Kaladevi Siddhi Vinayagam Shanthi Palanivelu Sachdanandam Panchanadham | 2012 | Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Medicine2012，5，12： | 3 |

| 5 | Retrograde jejunogastric intussusception following Braun's jejunojejunostomy显示文摘Jejunogastric intussusception is a rare long term complication of Billroth Ⅱ gastrectomy. The case reported here is a 50 year old man with history of a Billroth Ⅱ gastrectomy and Braun's side-to-side jejunojejunal anastomosis who presented with hematemesis. On abdominal examination, there was a mass in the left iliac fossa. Computed tomography scan showed a retrograde jejunogastric intussusception across the gastrojejunostomy. On laparotomy, a retrograde intussusception of the distal jejunum through the jejunojejunal anastomosis and across the gastrojejunostomy with a gangrenous intussusceptum was found. The jejunojejunal anastomosis was taken down, the gangrenous segment was resected and bowel continuity was restored with two jejunojejunal anastomoses, proximal and distal to the gastrojejunostomy. The gastrojejunostomy was preserved. | 7 | Standard triple versus levofloxacin based regimen for eradication ofHelicobacter pylori显示文摘AIM:To compare the eradication rates for Helicobacter pylori(H.pylori) and ulcer recurrence of standard triple therapy(STT) and levofloxacin based therapy(LBT).METHODS:Seventy-four patients with perforated duodenal ulcer treated with simple closure and found to be H.pylori infected on 3 mo follow up were randomized to receive either the STT group comprising of amoxicillin 1 g bid,clarithromycin 500 mg bid and omeprazole 20 mg bid or the LBT group comprising of amoxicillin 1 g bid,levofloxacin 500 mg bid and omeprazole 20 mg bid for 10 d each.The H.pylori eradication rates,side effects,compliance and the recurrence of ulcer were assessed in the two groups at 3 mo follow up.RESULTS:Thirty-four patients in the STT group and 32 patients in the levofloxacin group presented at 3 mo follow up.H.pylori eradication rates were similar with STT and the LBT groups on intention-to-treat(ITT) analysis(69% vs 80%,P = 0.425) and(79% vs 87%,P = 0.513) by per-protocol(PP) analysis respectively.Ulcer recurrence in the STT and LBT groups on ITT analysis was(20% vs 14%,P = 0.551) and(9% vs 6%,P = 1.00) by PP analysis.Compliance and side effects were also comparable between the groups.A complete course of STT costs Indian Rupees(INR) 1060.00,while LBT costs only INR 360.00.CONCLUSION:H.pylori eradication rates and the rate of ulcer recurrence were similar between the STT and LBT.The LBT is a more economical option compared to STT. | Raj Gopal Thirthar Palanivelu Elamurugan Vikram Kate Sadasivan Jagdish Debdatta Basu | 2013 | World Journal of Gastrointestinal Pharmacology and Therapeutics2013，4，2： | 2 |
