| 1 | Current Status of Conventional and Molecular Interventions for Blast Resistance in Rice显示文摘Pyricularia oryzae anamorph of Magnaporthe oryzae is one of the most notorious fungal pathogens causing severe economic loss in rice production worldwide. Various methods, viz. cultural, biological and molecular approaches, are utilized to counteract this pathogen. Moreover, some tolerant or resistant rice varieties have been developed with the help of breeding programmes. Isolation and molecular characterization of different blast resistance genes now open the gate for new possibilities to elucidate the actual allelic variants of these genes via various molecular breeding and transgenic approaches. However, the behavioral pattern of this fungus breakups the resistance barriers in the resistant or tolerant rice varieties. This host-pathogen barrier will be possibly countered in future research by comparative genomics data from available genome sequence data of rice and M. oryzae for durable resistance. Present review emphasized fascinating recent updates, new molecular breeding approaches, transgenic and genomics approaches(i.e. mi RNA and genome editing) for the management of blast disease in rice. | 3 | Hesperetin conjugated PEGylated gold nanoparticles exploring the potential role in anti-inflammation and anti-proliferation during diethylnitrosamine-induced hepatocarcinogenesis in rats显示文摘Liver cancer is the fifth most common cancer and one of the leading causes of death in the world, and second most common cause of death in men. Natural products emerge as the most enduring approaches in the development of anticancer targeting drug. Hesperetin(HP), one of the abundant flavonoids found naturally in citrus fruits, has received considerable attention in anti-cancer promotion and progression. The present study was conducted to decipher the role of 0.5 ml hesperetin conjugated gold nanoparticles(Au-m PEG(5000)-S-HP NPs) during diethylnitrosamine(DEN)-induced hepatocarcinogenesis in male Wistar albino rats and shows the better antioxidant that possesses anti-inflammatory,anti-proliferation and anticarcinogenic properties and may modulate signaling pathways.The confirmation of polymer functionalized gold nanoparticles and drug loaded polymer gold nanoparticles were characterized by HR-TEM with EDAX, and DLS with Zeta potential techniques. The drug encapsulation efficiency and release properties were carried out in PBS at pH 7.4 for Au-mPEG(5000)-S-HP and compared with the control pure hesperetin(HP).Here, we review the role of mast cell counts, tumor necrosis factor alpha(TNF-α), transcription factor nuclear factor-κB(NF-κB), levels of glycoconjugates, proliferating cell nuclear antigen(PCNA) and argyrophilic nucleolar organizing regions, are the master regulator of inflammation and proliferation, in the development of hepatocellular injury, liver fibrosis and HCC. DEN-administered animals showed increased mast cell counts, tumor necrosis factor alpha, transcription factor nuclear factor-κB, glycoconjugates, proliferating cell nuclear antigen, and argyrophilic nucleolar organizing regions. Whereas Au-mPEG(5000)-S-HP NPs supplementation considerably suppressed all the above abnormalities. | 6 | An innovation in child health:Globally reaching out to child health professionals显示文摘Worldwide deaths of children younger than 5 years reduced from 12.7 million in 1990 to 6.3 million in 2013.Much of this decline is attributed to an increase in the knowledge,skills,and abilities of child health professionals.In turn this increase in knowledge,skills,and abilities has been brought about by increased child-health-focused education available to child health professionals.Therefore child-health-focused education must be part of the strategy to eliminate the remaining 6.3 million deaths and to achieve the United Nations Millennium Development Goals.This article describes a child-health-focused program that was established in 1992 and operates in 20 countries:Australia,Bangladesh,Botswana,Cambodia,China,Ethiopia,Hong Kong,India,Kenya,Malawi,Mongolia,Myanmar,Sierra Leone,the Seychelles,the Solomon Islands,Tanzania,Tonga,Vanuatu,Vietnam,and Zimbabwe.The Diploma in Child Health/International Postgraduate Paediatric Certificate(DCH/IPPC)course provides a comprehensive overview of evidence-based current best practice in pediatrics.This includes all subspecialty areas from infectious diseases and emergency medicine through to endocrinology,respiratory medicine,neurology,nutrition,and dietetics.Content is developed and presented by international medical experts in response to global child health needs.Content is provided to students via a combination of learning outcomes,webcasts,lecture notes,personalized study,tutorials,case studies,and clinical practice.One hundred eleven webcasts are provided,and these are updated annually.This article includes a brief discussion of the value and focus of medical education programs;a description of the DCH/IPPC course content,approaches to teaching and learning,course structure and the funding model;the most recent evaluation of the DCH/IPPC course;and recommendations for overcoming the challenges for implementing a multinational child-health-focused program. | Russell Jones Kathryn Currow Mary Kwong Pramila Menon | 2016 | Family Medicine and Community Health2016，4，3： | 2 |
