| 1 | Solid amine sorbents for CO_(2) capture by chemical adsorption: A review显示文摘Amines are well-known for their reversible reactions with CO_(2),which make them ideal for CO_(2) capture from several gas streams,including flue gas.In this respect,selective CO_(2) absorption by aqueous alkanolamines is the most mature technology but the process is energy intensive and has also corrosion problems.Both disadvantages can be diminished to a certain extent by chemical adsorption of CO_(2) selectively.The most important element of the chemical adsorption of CO_(2) involves the design and development of a suitable adsorbent which consist of a porous support onto which an amine is attached or immobilized.Such an adsorbent is often called as solid amine sorbent.This review covers solid amine-based studies which are developed and published in recent years.First,the review examines several different types of porous support materials,namely,three mesoporous silica(MCM-41,SBA-15 and KIT-6)and two polymeric supports(PMMA and PS)for CO_(2) adsorption.Emphasis is given to the synthesis,modifications and characterizations-such as BET and PXRD data-of them.Amination of these supports to obtain a solid amine sorbent through impregnation or grafting is reviewed comparatively.Focus is given to the adsorption mechanisms,material characteristics,and synthesis methods which are discussed in detail.Significant amount of original data are also presented which makes this review unique.Finally,relevant CO_(2) adsorption(or equilibrium)capacity data,and cyclic adsorption/desorption performance and stability of important classes of solid amine sorbents are critically reviewed.These include severa PEI or TEPA impregnated adsorbents and APTES-grafted systems. | Elif ErdalÜnveren Bahar Ozmen Monkul S¸erife Sarıoglan Nesrin Karademir Erdogan Alper | 2017 | Petroleum2017,3,1: | 8 |
| 2 | Pathological,immunohistochemical and microbiologicalal analysis of lacrimal sac biopsies in patients with chronic dacrocystitis显示文摘AIM:To analyze cases of obstruction of the nasolacrimal duct which creates a fertile environment for secondary bacterial Infection and can result in dacryocystitis,which is a constant threat to cornea and orbital soft tissue and a potential source of endophthalmitis following intraocular surgery.The majority of obstructions of the lacrimal excretory outflow system are acquired ones occurring in adulthood and involving the distal parts of the system.Acquired obstruction may be primary/idiopathic or secondary to a wide variety of infectious,inflammatory,traumatic,mechanical,toxic or neoplastic causes mimicking idiopathic inflammation.These cases are treated by dacryocystorhinostomy(DCR).METHODS:The present study was conducted to determine the histopathologic,immunohistochemical and current microbiologic characteristics of lacrimal sac specimens in patients undergoing external dacryocystorhinostomy.RESULTS:Non-specific lacrimal sac pathology was present in all 33 cases and 81.8%of the cases showed moderate chronic inflammation with a chronic inflammatory score(CIS)ranging between 4 and 6,whereas 12.12%showed severe inflammatory changes with a CIS of 7.Mild degree of inflammation was seen in6.06%with a CIS of 3.The total prevalence of grampositive,gram-negative,and culture-negative samples were 59.4%,37.5%,and 3%respectively.CONCLUSION:Non-specific chronic inflammation withfibrosis is indeed the most commonly reported histopathological finding in lacrimal sac wall biopsy specimens. | Rowayda Mahmoud Amin Faten Aly Hussein Hisham Farouk Idriss Nesrine Fathy Hanafy Dina Mohamed Abdallah | 2013 | International Journal of Ophthalmology(English edition)2013,6,6: | 7 |
| 3 | Mallory-Denk Bodies in chronic hepatitis显示文摘Mallory-Denk Bodies(MDB) are important as investigators,suggesting MDB as an indicator of the histologic severity of chronic hepatitis,causes of which include hepatitis C,primary biliary cirrhosis(PBC),and nonalcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD).Matteoni et al scored MDB in patients with NAFLD as none,rare and many,and reported that MDB plays a prominent role in this classification scheme in an earlier classification system.In this study,we evaluated 258 patients with chronic hepatitis due to metabolic,autoimmune and viral etiologies.Liver biopsy samples were evaluated with hematoxylin and eosin,periodic acid-Schiff-diastase,Gordon and Sweet's reticulin,Masson's trichrome,and iron stains.Both staging and grading were performed.Additionally,MDB were evaluated and discussed for each disease.We examined patients with nonalcoholic steatohepatitis(NASH;50 patients),alcoholic hepatitis(10 patients),PBC(50 patients),Wilson disease(WD;20 patients),hepatitis B(50 patients),hepatitis C(50 pati-ents) and hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC;30 patients).Frequency of MDB was as follows;NASH:10 patients with mild in 60% and moderate in 40% and observed in every stage of the disease and frequently seen in zone 3.PBC:11 patients with mild in 10%,moderate in 70%,and cirrhosis in 20%,and frequently seen in zone 1.WD:16 patients with moderate and severe in 60% and cirrhosis in 40% and frequently seen in zone 1.Hep B:3 patients with mild in 66% and severe in 34%.Hep C:7 patients with mild in 40% and moderate in 60% and observed in every stage.HCC:3 patients with hep B in 2 patients.We found that there is no relationship between MDB and any form of chronic hepatitis regarding histologic severity such as alcoholic steatohepatitis and NAFLD and variable zone distribution by etiology. | Metin Basaranoglu Nesrin Turhan Abdullah Sonsuz Gkcen Basaranoglu | 2011 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2011,17,17: | 6 |
| 4 | Effects of the myeloperoxidase 463 gene polymorphisms on development of atrophy in H pylori infected or noninfected gastroduodenal disease显示文摘AIM: To investigate the relationship between myelo- peroxidase polymorphisms as a host-related factor and atrophy caused by H pylori. METHODS: Our study enrolled 77 patients. Biopsy materials obtained during gastrointestinal endoscopies were evaluated for the presence of H pylori. Polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism assay was used to characterize myeloperoxidase genotypes. RESULTS: Forty four patients (57.1%) were Hp (+) and 33 (42.9%) were Hp (-). Sixty six (85.7%) had GG genotype, 10 (12.9%) had GA genotype and 1 (1.29%) had AA genotype. The change in atrophy in relation to neutrophil infiltration was significant in Hp (+) patients (P = 0.0001). The change in atrophy in relation to neutrophil infiltration in patients with GG genotype was significant (P = 0.002). However, the change in atrophy in relation to neutrophil infiltration was not significiant in patients with Hp (+) GG genotype (r = 0.066, P = 0.63). CONCLUSION: Myeloperoxidase genotype is critical for development of atrophy in relation to the severity of inflammation. | 5 | Potential predictive factors for pathologic complete response after the neoadjuvant treatment of rectal adenocarcinoma:a single center experience显示文摘Objective:To assess the response rate of patients with rectal adenocarcinoma to neoadjuvant therapy and to identify the predictors of histological regression after neoadjuvant radiotherapy(RT)or concurrent chemoradiotherapy(CCRT).Methods:This study recruited 64 patients.The patients had resectable cancer of the lower and the middle rectum(T3/T4 and/or N+)without distant metastasis and received neoadjuvant RT or CCRT followed by radical surgery with total mesorectal excision(TME)between January 2006 and December 2011.The patients were classified into non-response(NR),partial response(PR),and pathologic complete response(p CR)based on the Dworak tumor regression grading system.Results:The median age of patients was 57 years(ranging from 22 to 85).A total of 24 patients were treated with neoadjuvant CCRT,whereas 40 patients were treated with RT alone.Abdominoperineal resection(APR)was performed on 29 patients(45%).Anterior resection with TME was performed on 34 patients(53%).One patient had local resection.Histologically,12(19%),24(73%),and 28(44%)patients exhibited p CR,PR,and NR,respectively.Univariate analysis revealed that the predictors of tumor regression were as follows:the absence of lymph node involvement from initial imaging(c N0)(P=0.021);normal initial carcinoembryonic antigen(CEA)level(P=0.01);hemoglobin level≥12 g/dl(P=0.009);CCRT(P=0.021);and tumor downstaging in imaging(P=0.001).Multivariate analysis showed that the main predictors of p CR were CT combined with neoadjuvant RT,c N0stage,and tumor regression on imaging.Conclusions:Identifying the predictors of p CR following neoadjuvant therapy aids the selection of responsive patients for nonaggressive surgical treatment and possible surveillance. | Feryel Letaief Meher Nasri Mouna Ayadi Khedija Meddeb Amina Mokrani Yosra Yahyaoui Nesrine Chraiet Henda Raies Amel Mezlini | 2017 | Cancer Biology & Medicine2017,14,3: | 3 |
| 6 | Aggressive primary hepatic epithelioid hemangioendothelioma:a case report and literature review显示文摘A new case of epithelioid hemangioendothelioma is reported to have occurred to a 67-year-old patient who consulted for rightsided chest pain. The work-up showed multiple right pulmonary lesions associated with bilateral moderate pleural effusion and left-sided pleural thickening and three hypodense nodules in the right lobe of the liver, peritoneal thickening, ascites, and multiple vertebral lytic lesions. The diagnosis of an epithelioid hemangioendothelioma was concluded through a histological examination of a computed tomography scan guided biopsy of the liver. The patient received a primary mono-chemotherapy with Adriamycin(75 mg/m^2 every three weeks) and intravenous bisphosphonates without response and general status impairment. | 12 | Effects of Barium Stress in Brassica juncea and Cakile maritima:The Indicator Role of Some Antioxidant Enzymes and Secondary Metabolites显示文摘Soil contamination by toxic trace metal elements,like barium(Ba),may stimulate various undesirable changes in the metabolic activity of plants.The plant responses are fast and with,direct or indirect,generation of reactive oxygen species(ROS).To cope with the stress imposed by the ROS production,plants developed a dual cellular system composed of enzymatic and non-enzymatic players that convert ROS,and their by-products,into stable nontoxic molecules.To assess the Ba stress response of two Brassicaceae species(Brassica juncea,a glycophyte,and Cakile maritime,a halophyte),plants were exposure to different Ba concentrations(0,100,200,300 and 500µM).The plants response was evaluated through their morphology and development,the determination of plant leaves antioxidant enzymatic activities and by the production of plants secondary metabolites.Results indicated that the two Brassicaceae species have the ability to survive in an environment containing Ba(even at 500µM).The biomass production of C.maritima was slightly affected whereas an increase in biomass B.juncea was noticed.The stress imposed by Ba activated the antioxidant defense system in the two species,noticed by the changes in the leaves activity of catalase(CAT),ascorbate peroxidase(APX)and guaicol peroxidase(GPX),and of the secondary metabolites,through the production of total phenols and flavonoids.The enzymatic response was not similar within the two plant species:CAT and APX seem to have a more important role against the oxidative stress in C.maritima while in B.juncea is GPX.Overall,total phenols and flavonoids production was more significant in the plants aerial part than in the roots,of the both species.Although the two Brassicaceae species response was different,in both plants catalytic and non-catalytic transformation of ROS occurs,and both were able to overcome the Ba toxicity and prevent the cell damage. | Houda Bouslimi Renata Ferreira Nesrine Dridi Pedro Brito Susete Martins-Dias Isabel Caçador Noomene Sleimi | 2021 | Phyton-International Journal of Experimental Botany2021,90,1: | 2 |
| 13 | Does vitamin C have the ability to augment the therapeutic effect of bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells on spinal cord injury?显示文摘Methylprednisolone(MP) is currently the only drug confirmed to exhibit a neuroprotective effect on acute spinal cord injury(SCI). Vitamin C(VC) is a natural water-soluble antioxidant that exerts neuroprotective effects through eliminating free radical damage to nerve cells. Bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells(BMMSCs), as multipotent stem cells, are promising candidates in SCI repair. To evaluate the therapeutic effects of MP, VC and BMMSCs on traumatic SCI, 80 adult male rats were randomly divided into seven groups: control, SCI(SCI induction by weight-drop method), MP(SCI induction, followed by administration of 30 mg/kg MP via the tail vein, once every other 6 hours, for five times), VC(SCI induction, followed by intraperitoneal administration of 100 mg/kg VC once a day, for 28 days), MP + VC(SCI induction, followed by administration of MP and VC as the former), BMMSCs(SCI induction, followed by injection of 3 × 10~6 BMMSCs at the injury site), and BMMSCs + VC(SCI induction, followed by BMMSCs injection and VC administration as the former). Locomotor recovery was assessed using the Basso Mouse Scale. Injured spinal cord tissue was evaluated using hematoxylin-eosin staining and immunohistochemical staining. Expression of transforming growth factor-beta, tumor necrosis factor-alpha, and matrix metalloproteinase-2 genes was determined using real-time quantitative PCR. BMMSCs intervention better promoted recovery of nerve function of rats with SCI, mitigated nerve cell damage, and decreased expression of transforming growth factor-beta, tumor necrosis factor-alpha, and matrix metalloproteinase-2 genes than MP and/or VC. More importantly, BMMSCs in combination with VC induced more obvious improvements.
