| 1 | Comparison of corneal endothelial changes following phacoemulsification with transversal and torsional phacoemulsification machines显示文摘AIM:To compare and evaluate the phacoemulsification parameters and postoperative endothelial cell changes of two different phacoemulsification machines, each with different modes, but also to assess the relationship between postoperative endothelial cell loss and the phacoemulsification parameters, as well as the other factors in both groups.METHODS:This prospective observational study was comprised of consecutive eligible cataract patients operated with phacoemulsification technique performed by the same surgeon using either a WHITESTAR Signature Ellips FX(transversal, group 1) or Infiniti OZil IP(torsional, group 2) machine.RESULTS:The study included 86 patients. Baseline characteristics in the groups were similar. The median nuclear sclerosis grade was 3(2-4) in the first group and2(2-4) in the second group(P =0.265). Both groups had similar phacoemulsification needle times(group 1: 60.63±36 s; group 2: 55.98±30 s; P =0.789). The percentage of endothelial cell loss 30 d after surgery ranged from 3% to15% with a median of 7% in group 1, and from 2% to13% with a median of 6% in group 2; however, there was no statistically significant difference between the groups(P =0.407). Hexagonality(P =0.794) and the coefficient of variation(CV; P =0.142) did not differ significantly between the groups before and 30 d after surgery. Asignificant positive correlation was found between the endothelial cell loss and nuclear sclerosis grade(group1: P <0.001; group 2: P <0.001) and between the endothelial cell loss and average phacoemulsification power(group 1: P =0.007; group 2: P =0.008).CONCLUSION:Both of these machines were efficient,with similar endothelial cell loss. | 2 | Effects of tyrosine kinase inhibitor E7080 and eNOS inhibitor L-NIO on colorectal cancer alone and in combination显示文摘Objective:To investigate the effects of E7080 and N5-(1-iminoethyl)-L-ornithine dihydrochloride(L-NIO)on colorectal cancer alone and in combination.Methods:HT29 colorectal cancer cell line from Sap Institute was used.Real-time cell analysis(xCELLigence system)was performed to determine the effects of E7080 and L-NIO on colorectal cell proliferation.While apoptosis was determined with Annexin V staining,and the effect of agents on angiogenesis was determined with chorioallantoic membrane(CAM)model.Results:We found that E7080 has a strong antiproliferative effect with an half maximum inhibition of concentration(IC50)value of 5.60×10–8mol/L.Also it has been observed that E7080 showed antiangiogenic and apoptotic effects on HT29 colorectal cancer cells.Antiangiogenic scores of E7080 were 1.2,1.0 and 0.6for 100,10 and 1 nmol/L E7080 concentrations,respectively.Furthermore,apoptosis has been detected in71%of HT29 colorectal cancer cells after administration of 100 nmol/L E7080 which may indicate strong apoptotic effect.Meanwhile administration of L-NIO alone did not show any effect,but the combination of E7080 with L-NIO increased the antiproliferative,antiangiogenic and apoptotic effects of E7080.Conclusions:Results of this study indicate that E7080 may be a good choice in treatment of colorectal tumors.Furthermore the increased effects of E7080 when combined with L-NIO raise the possibility to use a lower dose of E7080 and therefore avoid/minimize the side effects observed with E7080. | Ahmet Altun Tijen Kaya Temiz Ezgi Balc Zübeyde Ak n Polat Mustafa Turan | 2013 | Chinese Journal of Cancer Research2013，25，5： | 4 |

| 4 | 'To-and-fro' waveform in the diagnosis of arterial pseudoaneurysms显示文摘Medical ultrasound imaging with Doppler plays an essential role in the diagnosis of vascular disease. This study intended to review the clinical use of 'to-and-fro' waveform at duplex Doppler ultrasonography(DDU) in the diagnosis of pseudoaneurysms in the arterial vessels of upper and lower extremities, abdominal aorta, carotid and vertebral arteries as well as to review our personal experiences of 'to-and-fro' waveform at DDU also. After receiving institutional review board approval, an inclusive literature review was carried out in order to review the scientific foundation of 'toand-fro' waveform at DDU and its clinical use in the diagnosis of pseudoaneurysms in various arterial vessels. Articles published in the English language between 2000 and 2013 were evaluated in this review study. Pseudoaneurysms in arterial vessels of the upper and lower extremities, abdominal aorta, carotid and vertebral arteries characterized by an extraluminal pattern of blood flow, which shows variable echogenicity, interval complexity, and 'to-and-fro' flow pattern on color Doppler ultrasonography. In these arterial vessels, Duplex ultrasonography can demonstrate the degree of clotting, pseudoaneurysm communication, the blood flow patterns and velocities. Spectral Doppler applied to pseudoaneurysms lumen revealed systolic and diastolic turbulent blood flow with traditional 'toand-fro' waveform in the communicating channel. Accurate diagnosis of pseudoaneurysm by spectral Doppler is based on the documentation of the 'to-andfro' waveform.
