| 2 | Multifrequency excitation of a clamped–clamped microbeam:Analytical and experimental investigation显示文摘Using partial electrodes and a multifrequency electrical source,we present a large-bandwidth,large-amplitude clamped–clamped microbeam resonator excited near the higher order modes of vibration.We analytically and experimentally investigate the nonlinear dynamics of the microbeam under a two-source harmonic excitation.The first-frequency source is swept around the first three modes of vibration,whereas the second source frequency remains fixed.New additive and subtractive resonances are demonstrated.We illustrated that by properly tuning the frequency and amplitude of the excitation force,the frequency bandwidth of the resonator is controlled.The microbeam is fabricated using polyimide as a structural layer coated with nickel from the top and chromium and gold layers from the bottom.Using the Galerkin method,a reduced order model is derived to simulate the static and dynamic response of the device.A good agreement between the theoretical and experimental data are reported. | Nizar Jaber Abdallah Ramini Mohammad I.Younis | 2016 | Microsystems & Nanoengineering2016,2,1: | 1 |

| 4 | The stellar system HIP 101227:is it a binary,a triple or a quadruple system?显示文摘In this paper,we present the analysis of the stellar system HIP 101227 to determine the actual number of components in the system,and their properties.We use dynamical modeling and complex spectrophotometric(involving atmospheric modeling)techniques with recent data,to determine the physical properties and orbital solution for the system,respectively,with better accuracy than past studies.Based on our analysis,we found that the system is more consistent with being a quadruple rather than a binary or a triple system as suggested by previous studies.The total mass of the system determined from our SED analysis is 3.42±0.20 M,which is distributed almost equally between the four stars.The stars are found to be zero-age main sequence stars;i.e.,at the last stage of pre-main sequence,with age less than 200 Myr and spectral types K0.All four stars have very similar physical characteristics,suggesting that the fragmentation process is the most likely theory for the formation and evolution of the system. | Zahra Talal Yousef Adlyka Annuar Abdallah Mohammad Hussein Hamid Al-Naimiy MashhoorAl-Wardat Nurul Shazana Abdul Hamid Mohammed Fadil Talafha | 2021 | Research in Astronomy and Astrophysics2021,21,5: | 1 |

| 9 | Adaptive Segmentation for Unconstrained Iris Recognition显示文摘In standard iris recognition systems,a cooperative imaging framework is employed that includes a light source with a near-infrared wavelength to reveal iris texture,look-and-stare constraints,and a close distance requirement to the capture device.When these conditions are relaxed,the system’s performance significantly deteriorates due to segmentation and feature extraction problems.Herein,a novel segmentation algorithm is proposed to correctly detect the pupil and limbus boundaries of iris images captured in unconstrained environments.First,the algorithm scans the whole iris image in the Hue Saturation Value(HSV)color space for local maxima to detect the sclera region.The image quality is then assessed by computing global features in red,green and blue(RGB)space,as noisy images have heterogeneous characteristics.The iris images are accordingly classified into seven categories based on their global RGB intensities.After the classification process,the images are filtered,and adaptive thresholding is applied to enhance the global contrast and detect the outer iris ring.Finally,to characterize the pupil area,the algorithm scans the cropped outer ring region for local minima values to identify the darkest area in the iris ring.The experimental results show that our method outperforms existing segmentation techniques using the UBIRIS.v1 and v2 databases and achieved a segmentation accuracy of 99.32 on UBIRIS.v1 and an error rate of 1.59 on UBIRIS.v2. | Mustafa AlRifaee Sally Almanasra Adnan Hnaif Ahmad Althunibat Mohammad Abdallah Thamer Alrawashdeh | 2024 | Computers, Materials & Continua2024,78,2: | 0 |
| 10 | Physical and geometrical parameters of CVBS XIV:the two nearby systems HIP 19206 and HIP 84425显示文摘Data release 2(DR2) from the Gaia mission was of great help in precise determination of fundamental parameters of Close Visual Binary and Multiple Systems(CVBMSs), especially masses of their components, which are crucial parameters in understanding formation and evolution of stars and galaxies. This article presents the complete set of fundamental parameters for two nearby close visual binary systems(CVBSs), which are HIP 19206 and HIP 84425. We utilised a combination of two methods;the first one is Tokovinin's dynamical method to solve the orbit of the system and to estimate orbital elements and the dynamical mass sum, and the second one is Al-Wardat's method for analysing CVBMSs to estimate the physical parameters of the individual components. The latest method employs grids of Kurucz lineblanketed plane parallel model atmospheres to build synthetic Spectral Energy Distributions(SEDs) of the individual components. Trigonometric parallax measurements given by Gaia DR2 and Hipparcos catalogues are used to analyse the two systems. The difference in these measurements yielded slight discrepancies in the fundamental parameters of the individual components, especially masses. So, a new dynamical parallax is suggested in this work based on the most convenient mass sum as given by each of the two methods. The new dynamical parallax for the system HIP 19205 of 22.97±0.95 mas coincides well with the trigonometric one reported recently(in December 2020) by Gaia EDR3 of 22.3689 ± 0.4056 mas. The positions of the components of the two systems on the evolutionary tracks and isochrones are plotted, which suggest that all components are solar-type main sequence stars.
