1A Review on Casting Magnesium Alloys: Modification of Commercial Alloys and Development of New Alloys显示文摘The research and development status of casting magnesium alloys including the commercial casting alloys and the new types casting alloys are reviewed,with more attention to microstructure and mechanical properties of modified-AZ91,AM60 and WE43 alloys with various additions,and new types of low cost casting alloys and high strength casting alloys.The modification and/or refinement of Mg2 Si phase in Mg–Al–Si based casting alloys by various additions are discussed and new purifying technologies for casting magnesium alloys are introduced to improve the performance.The modified AZ81 alloy with reduced impurities is found to have the tensile strength of 280 ± 6 MPa and elongation of 16% ± 0.7%.The fatigue strength of AZ91 D alloy could be obviously improved by addition of Ce and Nd.The Mg–16Gd–2Ag–0.3Zr alloy exhibits very high tensile and yield strengths(UTS:423 MPa and YS:328 MPa);however,its elongation still needs to be improved.Fusheng Pan Mingbo Yang Xianhua Chen 2016Journal of Materials Science & Technology2016,32,12:78

3Analysis of the cracks formation on surface of extruded magnesium rod based on numerical modeling and experimental verification显示文摘To reduce the surface cracks of extrusion rod for AZ31 magnesium caused by nonho-mogeneous metal flow in extrusion process, 3D computer finite element (FE) simulations of extruding a wrought magnesium alloy AZ31 into rods have been performed and the results have been verified in extrusion experiments under identical conditions. The tendency to generate the dead zone is decreased by employing the die angle 60° at the cone-shaped die comparing with the die angle 180°. The surface additional tensile stresses of the rod at the die exit are decreased greatly so that the surface cracks caused are avoided by using the die angle 60°. The extrusion die with die angle 180° would increase the higher temperature rise and possibility of crack forma- tion on the rod surface that caused by die angle 60° and temperature rise decrease tensile strength of the AZ31 rod. The experimental results show that die angle 180° could cause continuous cracks on the surface of the extruded rod. The extrusion force required is reduced approximately 15 ton by employing the die angle 60°. Theoretical results obtained by the DeformTM-3D simulation agreed well with the experiments. 4Modification and refinement mechanism of Mg_2Si phase in Sr-containing AZ61-0.7Si magnesium alloy显示文摘The effect of Sr on modification and refinement of the Mg 2 Si phase in an AZ61-0.7Si magnesium alloy has been investigated and analyzed.The results indicate that Sr can effectively modify and refine the Chinese-script shaped Mg2Si phase in the AZ61-0.7Si alloy.By adding 0.06wt.%-0.12wt.%Sr to AZ61-0.7Si alloy,the Mg2Si phase in the alloy can be changed from the initial coarse Chinese-script shape to fine granule and/or irregular polygonal shapes.Accordingly,the Sr-containing AZ61-0.7Si alloy exhibits higher tensile and creep properties than the AZ61-0.7Si alloy without Sr modification.The mechanism on modification and refinement of the Mg2Si phase in Sr-containing AZ61-0.7Si alloy is possibly related to the following two aspects:(1)adding Sr may form the Al4Sr phase which can serve as the heterogeneous nucleus for the Mg2Si particles and/or(2)adding Sr may lower the onset crystallizing temperature and increase the undercooling level.Yang Mingbo Shen Jia 2009China Foundry2009,6,1:7
5Effects of heat treatment on the microstructure and mechanical properties of ZA84 magnesium alloy显示文摘The effects of heat treatment on the microstructure and mechanical properties of ZA84 (Mg-8Zn-4Al-0.25Mn) alloy were investigated. The results indicate that the as-cast microstructure of the alloy is mainly composed of α-Mg matrix and two different morphologies of precipitates (continuous and quasi-continuous Mg32(Al,Zn)49 phases and isolated Mg5Al2Zn2 phases). After solid solution treatment at 345°C, the Mg32(Al,Zn)49 phases change from continuous and quasi-continuous net to disconnected acute angle shape, and parts of second phases sphericize. The optimum heat treatment condition for the alloy is solution treatment at 345°C for 48 h and water quenching, then aging treatment at 200°C for 12 h and atmosphere cooling. 6Effect of minor Sc on the microstructure and mechanical properties of AZ91 Magnesium Alloy显示文摘The as-cast and heat-treated microstructures and mechanical properties of the AZ91 magnesium alloys with and without minor Sc addition were investigated and compared in this paper. The results indicated that adding0.15–0.45 wt% Sc to the as-cast AZ91 alloy not only could modify and refine the Mg_(17)Al_(12) phase but also suppress the formation of the Mg_(17)Al_(12) phase. At the same time, the grains of the Sc-containing as-cast AZ91 alloys were also effectively refined. As a result, the mechanical properties at room temperature(RT) for the Sccontaining as-cast AZ91 alloys were effectively improved. In addition, adding 0.15–0.45 wt%Sc to the AZ91 alloy promoted the formation of the continuous precipitates(CP) during the aging treatment in spite of that the formation of the discontinuous precipitates(DP) was simultaneously suppressed. 8Morphology observation for surface orange peel and fracture in tension sample of aluminum-alloy sheet and characterization of nano hardness显示文摘The tension property of aluminum-alloy sheet with different microstructures is measured,and the surface and tension fracture morphology of tension sample with and without orange peel are observed by using scanning electron microscope(SEM).Surface roughness and nano hardness of tension sample are measured.The results show that the average elongation of the samples with orange peel is lower than that without orange peel;especially the r value of perpendicular to the rolling direction is much lower than that without orange peel.The tension surface of the orange peel samples is very rough;various parameters of surface roughness are higher.Under the observation of SEM,a wider sliding band with a micro crack on the surface of orange peel sample can be found.The various parameters of surface roughness without orange peel sample are near to zero,the sliding band is narrow and without micro cracks.The dimple width in tensile fracture of orange peel sample is larger than that without orange peel sample,but shear lip is narrower.The nano hardness testing results show that samples with orange peel behave high elastic modulus,high hardness,and high maximum load,but low plastic deformation depth.These mentioned features can completely describe surface and fracture morphology of tension samples with orange peel.Ma Mingtu Mei Huasheng Lu Hongzhou Yang Hongya Wu Emei Zhou Mingbo 2012Engineering Sciences2012,10,6:4
9Three-dimensional printing of high-mass loading electrodes for energy storage applications显示文摘Nanostructured materials afford a promising potential for many energy storage applications because of their extraordinary electrochemical properties.However,the remarkable electrochemical energy storage performance could only be harvested at a relatively low mass-loading via the traditional electrode fabrication process,and the scale of these materials into commercial-level mass-loading remains a daunting challenge because the ion diffusion kinetics deteriorates rapidly along with the increased thickness of the electrodes.Very recently,three-dimensional(3D)printing,a promising additive manufacturing technology,has been considered as an emerging method to address the aforementioned issues where the 3D printed electrodes could possess elaborately regulated architectures and rationally organized porosity.As a result,the outstanding electrochemical performance has been widely observed in energy storage devices made of 3D printed electrodes of high-mass loading.In this review,we systemically introduce the basic working principles of various 3D printing technologies and their practical applications to manufacture highmass loading electrodes for energy storage devices.Challenges and perspectives in 3D printing technologies for the construction of electrodes at the current stage are also outlined,aiming to offer some useful opinions for further development for this prosperous field.Hao Yang Zhaoxuan Feng Xiaoling Teng Lu Guan Han Hu Mingbo Wu 2021InfoMat2021,3,6:4
10Efficient CO_(2) electroreduction over N-doped hieratically porous carbon derived from petroleum pitch显示文摘Developing of economic and efficient catalysts is critical for the application of electroreduction of carbon dioxide to highly valuable chemicals.Herein,we present a facile method to synthesize N-doped hieratically porous carbon through pyrolysis of petroleum pitch followed by ammonia etching.We found mesopores are favored formation by removing of asphaltene from petroleum pitch during the carbonation process.Simultaneously,ammonia etching can not only increase the pyridinic-N content,but also upgrade the ratio of meso-to micro-pores of carbon materials.Using the N-doped hieratically porous carbon as catalyst for carbon dioxide electroreduction,the Faradaic efficiency of carbon monoxide reaches 83%at-0.9 V vs.the reversible hydrogen electrode(RHE)in 0.1 M KHCO_(3).This superior performance is attributed to the synergistic effects of highly pyridinic-N content in conjunction with the hieratically porous architecture,rendering abundant exposed and accessible active sites for electroreduction of CO_(2).Our work provides a new strategy for the large-scale preparation of high-performance,low-cost catalysts for CO_(2) electroreduction.Hui Ning Dianliang Guo Xiaoshan Wang Zhonghao Tan Wenhang Wang Zhongxue Yang Linqing Li Qingshan Zhao Jian Hao Mingbo Wu 2021Journal of Energy Chemistry2021,30,5:3
11Effects of minor Sr addition on as-cast microstructure and mechanical properties of a Mg-3Sn-2Ca(wt.%) magnesium alloy显示文摘Minor Sr was introduced to the Mg-3Sn-2Ca(wt.%) alloy in this paper, and the effects of minor Sr addition on the as-cast microstructure and mechanical properties of the Mg-3Sn-2Ca(wt.%) alloy were investigated by using of optical and electron microscopies, differential scanning calorimetry(DSC) analysis, and tensile and creep tests. The results indicate that, after adding 0.034wt.%, 0.065wt.% or 0.10wt.% Sr to the Mg-3Sn-2Ca alloy, the morphology of the primary CaMgSn phase changes from the initial coarse needle-like net to relatively fi ne short block and/or particle-like shapes. At the same time, the additions of 0.034wt.% or 0.065wt.% Sr suppress the formation of the primary CaMgSn phase, and the addition of 0.10wt.% Sr not only suppresses the formation of the primary and eutectic CaMgSn phases but also promotes the formation of Mg2Ca phase. Furthermore, the addition of minor Sr to the Mg-3Sn-2Ca alloy can improve the tensile properties of the alloy both at room temperature and 150 ℃. 12High-temperature mechanical properties of as-extruded AZ80 magnesium alloy at different strain rates显示文摘The mechanical properties of as-extruded AZ80 magnesium alloy at temperatures of 450-525℃ and strain rates of 3.0 s^(−1)and 0.15 s^(−1)were investigated by tensile tests.Zero ductility of alloy appeared at 500℃ with a strain rate of 0.15 s^(−1),while the zero strength and zero ductility of the alloy were obtained nearly simultaneously at 525℃ with a strain rate of 3.0 s^(−1).The results indicated that the lower strain rate accelerated the arrival of zero ductility.As the temperature increased,the failure mode of the alloy developed from trans-granular fracture to cleavage fracture and then to inter-granular fracture with the feature of sugar-like grains and fusion traces.The existence of the low-melting composite ofβ-Mg_(17)Al_(12) and Al_(8)Mn_(5) particles segregated near the Mg_(17)Al_(12) phase along grain boundaries were demonstrated to be the reason for the brittle fracturing of the AZ80 alloy at high temperatures.Furthermore,microstructural evolution at temperatures approaching the solidus temperature was discussed to clarify magnesium alloy’s high temperature deformation mechanism.Wenjun Liu Bin Jiang Hongchen Xiang Qing Ye Shengqi Xia Siqiang Chen Jiangfeng Song Yanlong Ma Mingbo Yang 2022International Journal of Minerals,Metallurgy and Materials2022,29,7:3
13Effect of Ca addition on the as-cast microstructure and creep properties of Mg-5Zn-5Sn magnesium alloy显示文摘The effect of Ca addition on the as-cast microstructure and creep properties of Mg-5Zn-5Sn magnesium alloy was investigated. The results indicate that adding 1.0 wt.% Ca to Mg-5Zn-5Sn alloy can effectively refine the as-cast microstructure of the alloy, and the CaMgSn phase with high thermal stability is formed in the alloy. In addition, adding 1.0 wt.% Ca to Mg-5Zn-5Sn alloy can also improve the creep properties of the alloy. After adding 1.0 wt.% Ca to Mg-5Zn-5Sn alloy, the second creep rate of the alloy at 150°C and 50 MPa for 100 h decreases from 4.67×10-8 to 1.43×10-8 s-1. 14Olfactory and gustatory dysfunctions of COVID-19 patients in China:A multicenter study显示文摘Introduction:With the spread of the epidemic worldwide,an increasing number of doctors abroad have observed the following atypical symptoms of coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19):olfactory or taste disorders.Therefore,clarifying the incidence and clinical characteristics of olfactory and taste disorders in Chinese COVID-19 patients is of great significance and urgency.Materials and Methods:A retrospective study was conducted,which included 229 severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 confirmed patients,through face-to-face interviews and telephone follow-up.Following the completion of questionnaires,the patients participating in the study,were categorized according to the degree of olfactory and taste disorders experienced,and the proportion of each clinical type of patient with olfactory and taste disorders and the time when symptoms appeared were recorded.Results:Among the 229 patients,31(13.54%)had olfactory dysfunction,and 44(19.21%)had gustatory dysfunction.For the patients with olfactory dysfunction,6(19.35%)developed severe disease and became critically ill.Olfactory dysfunction appeared before the other symptoms in 21.43%of cases.The proportion of females with olfactory and gustatory dysfunction was higher than that of males(P<0.001).Conclusions:The incidence of olfactory and gustatory dysfunction was much lower than that reported abroad;the prognosis of patients with olfactory dysfunction is relatively favorable;olfactory and gustatory dysfunction can be used as a sign for early screening;females are more prone to olfactory and gustatory dysfunction.Jianhui Li Yi Sun Enqiang Qin Hu Yuan Mingbo Liu Wenqi Yi Zhu Chen Chengcheng Huang Fengjie Zhou Ruiyao Chen Leibo Zhang Ning Yu Qiong Liu Xuejun Zhou Jingjing He Boyu Li Fusheng Wang Changliang Yang Shiming Yang 2022World Journal of Otorhinolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery2022,8,4:2
15Research on deformation mechanism of AZ31 magnesium alloy sheet with non-basal texture during uniaxial tension at room temperature:A visco-plastic self-consistent analysis显示文摘The relationship between activities of involved deformation mechanisms and the evolution of microstructure and texture during uniaxial tension of AZ31 magnesium alloy with a rare non-basal texture has been thoroughly investigated in the present study by means of electron backscattered diffraction(EBSD) measurement and visco-plastic self-consistent(VPSC) modeling. These results show that except basal slip and prismatic slip, {10■2} extension twin(ET) also plays a significant role during plastic deformation. With the increasing tilted angle between loading direction and rolling direction(RD) of sheet, the activity of {10■2} ET possesses a decreasing tendency and its role in plastic deformation changes from the one mainly sustaining plastic strain to the one mainly accommodating local strain between individual grains. When {10■2} ET serves as a carrier of plastic strain, it mainly results in the formation of basal texture component(c-axis//ND, normal direction). By comparison, when the role of {10■2} ET is to accommodate local strain, it mainly brings about the formation of prismatic texture component(c-axis//TD, transverse direction). At large plastic deformation, the competition between basal slip and pyramidal slip is responsible for the concentration of tilted basal poles towards ND within all deformed samples. The larger difference is between the activities of basal slip and pyramidal slip, the smaller separation is between these two tilted basal poles. Besides,VPSC modeling overesttmates volume fractions of {10■2} ET in samples with angle of 0 to 30° between loading direction and RD of sheet because interactions between twin variants are not included in VPSC modeling procedure at the present form. 16Effect of Semi-Solid Isothermal Heat Treatment on Microstructure of ZL104 Aluminum Alloy显示文摘The feasibility of fabricating ZL104 aluminum alloy with non-dendritic microstructure by semi-solid isothermal heat treatment process and the effects of holding temperature and time on the semi-solid isothermal heat-treated microstructure of the alloy, are investigated. The research results indicate that it is possible to produce ZL104 alloy with non-dendritic microstructure by a suitable semi-solid isothermal heat treatment. After treated at 580 ℃ for 120 min, the ZL104 alloy can obtain a non-dendritic microstructure with an 49% liquid content and an average size range of 115 μm of the unmelted primary solid particles. In addition, an increase in the holding time from 30 to 120 min for a given holding temperature of 580 ℃ or in the holding temperature from 570 to 580 ℃ for a given holding time of 120 min causes the average size and globular tendency of unmelted primary solid particles in the semi-solid ZL104 alloy to decrease and become more obvious, respectively.Yang Mingbo Shen Jia 2009稀有金属材料与工程2009,38,A03:2
