5A Plant Immune Receptor Adopts a Two-Step Recognition Mechanism to Enhance Viral Effector Perception显示文摘Plant intracellular nucleotide binding leucine-rich repeat (NLR) immune receptors play critical roles in pathoge n surveillance. Most plant NLRs characterized so far were found to use a single domain/sensor to recognize pathogen effectors. Here we report that the Sw-5b NLR immune receptor uses two distinct domains to detect the viral movement protein NSm encoded by tospovirus. In addition to its leucine-rich repeat (LRR) domain that has been previously reported, the N-terminal Solanaceae domain (SD) of Sw- 5b also interacts with NSm and a conserved 21-amino-acid region of NSm (NSm^21). The specific interaction between Sw-5b SD and NSm is required for releasing the inhibitory effect of coiled-coil domain on the NBARC- LRR region. Furthermore, we found that the binding of NSm affects the nucleotide binding activity of the NB-ARC-LRR in vitro, while Sw-5b NB-ARC-LRR is activated only when NSm and NSm^21 levels are high. Interestingly, Sw-5b SD could significantly enhanee the ability of the NB-ARC-LRR to detect low levels of NSm effector and facilitate its activation and induction of defense response. An Sw-5b SD mutant that is disrupted in NSm recognition failed to enhance the ability of the NB-ARC-LRR to sense low levels of NSm and NSm^21 . 7A Quantum Chemistry Study of Inhibition Properties of Imidazole and Its Derivatives on Iron Surface Corrosion显示文摘The geometries of imidazole and its derivatives were respectively optimized by using ab initio method, and the molecular orbital energy levels and the charge densities were obtained for their optimum geometries. The frontier orbital energy levels, and the net charges of N (1) atom and the imidazole ring of those molecules were obtained with ab initio and SCC-DV-Xα methods. It was found that the inhibition properties of those compounds change with the highest occupied molecular orbital energy levels, and the net charges of N(1) atom. We took four iron atoms on the crystal plane (100) of α-iron as the surface which was used to study the adsorption towards the inhibitors. The adsorption models of the inhibitor to be adsorbed on the Fe-cluster surface were optimized with SCC-DV-Xα method. It turns out that the most favorable model is that the inhibitor molecule is adsorbed on the Fe-cluster surface in an inclined state. 10Purification and Properties of Superoxide Dismutase(SOD) in Allium Sativum显示文摘Superoxide dismutases(SODs) were purified to homogeneity from Allium Sativum by means of ammonium sulfate precipitation and column chromatography with DEAE-cellulose(DE52) and Sephadex G-75. Based on sodium dodecyl sulfate\|polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis(SDS-AGE), Allium Sativum is predicted to contain four SODs. The molecular weights of the native SODs are 41 3 kD, 37 0 kD, 35 2 kD and 31 0 kD, which consist of subunits of 20 7 kD, 18 4 kD, 17 7 kD and 15 4 kD respectively. Because of their specific sensitivity to hydrogen peroxide, cyanogens potassium and chloroform\|alcohol, the SODs in Allium Sativum appear to be Cu, Zn-SOD isoenzymes. 11The Maturation and Senescence in Relation to Ca^2+,CaMContent and Ca^2+-ATPase Activity and Active OxygenMetabolism in Strawberry Fruits显示文摘The changes in content of Ca2 + and CaM, Ca2 + -ATPase activity and active oxygen metabolism during strawberry (Fragaria ananassa Duch. cv. Chunxing) fruits maturation and senescence were investigated in this study. The results showed that the soluble Ca2 + content and SOD activity in fruits tended to decline and O2.-production rate to increase, the Ca2+ -ATPase activity peaked at first and then declined during fruits maturation and senescence. There were the highest CaM content at white stage in preharvest fruits and at marked senescence stage in postharvest ones. The above biochemical changes in fruits stored at low temperature (4℃) were slower than those stored at normal temperature(25℃ ). 12A Relocation-based Initialization Scheme to Improve Track-forecasting of Tropical Cyclones显示文摘A relocation procedure to initialize tropical cyclones was developed to improve the representation of the initial conditions and the track forecast for Panasonic Weather Solutions Tropical Operational Forecasts. This scheme separates the vortex perturbation and environment field from the first guess, then relocates the initial vortex perturbations to the observed position by merging them with the environment field. The relationships of wind vector components with stream function and velocity potential are used for separating the vortex disturbance from first guess. For the separation of scalars, a low-pass Barnes filter is employed. The irregular-shaped relocation area corresponding to the specific initial conditions is determined by mapping the edge of the vortex radius in 36 directions.Then, the non-vortex perturbations in the relocation area are removed by a two-pass Barnes filter to retain the vortex perturbations, while the variable fields outside the perimeter of the modified vortex are kept identical to the original first guess. The potential impacts of this scheme on track forecasts were examined for three hurricane cases in the 2011–12 hurricane season. The experimental results demonstrate that the initialization scheme is able to effectively separate the vortex field from the environment field and maintain a relatively balanced and accurate relocated first guess. As the initial track error is reduced, the following track forecasts are considerably improved. The 72-h average track forecast error was reduced by 32.6% for the cold-start cases, and by 38.4% when using the full-cycling data assimilation because of the accumulated improvements from the initialization scheme.GAO Feng Peter P. 15SYNTHESIS OF STRONTIUM-AND MAGNESIUM-DOPED LANTHANUM GALLATE BY GLYCINE-NITRATE COMBUSTION METHOD显示文摘Sr- and Mg-doped lanthanum gallate powders with the composition of La0.85Sr0.15Ga0.85Mg0.15O2.85 were synthesized by a glycine-nitrate combustion method. Powders prepared under different fuel combustion conditions were investigated by XRD and TEM. 17An Automatic System of Vehicle Number-Plate Recognition Based on Neural Networks显示文摘This paper presents an automatic system of vehicle number-plate recognition based on neural networks. In this system, location of number-plate and recognition of characters in number-plate can be automatically completed. Pixel colors of Number-plate area are classified using neural network, then color features are extracted by analyzing scanning lines of the cross-section of number-plate. It takes full use of number-plate color features to locate numberplate. Characters in number-plate can be effectively recognized using the neural networks. Experimental results show that the correct rate of number.plate location is close to 100%, and the time of number-plate location is less than 1 second. Moreover, recognition rate of characters is improved due to the known number-plate type. It is also observed that this system is not sensitive to variations of weather, illumination and vehicle speed. In addition, and also the size of number-plate need not to be known in prior.
