| 2 | Discrimination of abiogenic and biogenic alkane gases显示文摘We have combined the analytical data of the carbon isotope distribution pattern, R/Ra and CH4/3He values of abiogenic and biogenic (referring to the thermogenic and bacterial or microbial) alkane gases in China with those of alkane gases from USA, Russia, Germany, Australia and other countries. | 3 | Impacts of Types and Degree of Obesity on Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease and Related Dyslipidemia in Chinese School-Age Children?显示文摘Objective To explore the impacts of types and degree of obesity on non‐alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) and related lipids disturbance in Chinese school‐age children. Methods A total of 1 452 school‐age Children of 7 to 17 years were recruited in Beijing with representative cluster sampling method. Data of anthropometric measurements including weight, height and waist circumference were collected from March to May of 2007. Body mass index(BMI)was calculated. Blood samples were obtained and lipid profiles including triglyceride (TG), total cholesterol (TC), high‐density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL‐C) and low‐density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL‐C) were measured, while glutamate‐pyruvate transaminase (ALT) and glutamic‐oxalacetic transaminase (AST) were determined to evaluate liver function. The liver was also scanned by sonography, and abnormal hepatic sonograms were documented. NAFLD was diagnosed according to the criteria recommended by the Fatty Liver and Alcoholic Liver Disease Study Group under the Chinese Liver Disease Association. Analysis of covariance (ANOVA), Chi‐square test for trend and binary logistic regression analysis were performed. Results The dyslipidemia and ultrasonographic fatty liver deteriorated with the degree of obesity defined either by BMI or waist circumference. Compared with BMI, waist circumference contributed more to the development of dyslipidemia, fatty liver and NAFLD. The highest levels of TG, TC, LDL‐C, and lowest level of HDL‐C were seen in the mixed obese group followed by abdominal obese, peripheral obese and non‐obese ones. Adjusted for gender and age, the odds ratios (ORs) and their 95% confidence intervals of peripheral obesity, abdominal obesity and mixed obesity were 0, 10.93 (0.98‐121.96) and 79.16 (10.95‐572.44) for predicting NAFLD; 12.61 (1.24‐127.78), 19.39 (5.23‐71.85), and 93.21 (29.56‐293.90) for predicting ultrasonographic fatty liver; 1.78 (0.59‐5.44), 3.01 (1.91‐4.77), and 4.64 (3.52‐6.12) for predicting dyslipidemia, respectively compared with the non‐obese control group. The trend of hazards over groups was statistically significant (P<0.01). | 5 | Constituent and effects of polysaccharides isolated from Sophora moorcroftiana seeds on lifespan,reproduction,stress resistance,and antimicrobial capacity in Caenorhabditis elegans显示文摘Sophora moorcroftiana(S. moorcroftiana) is an endemic leguminous dwarf shrub in Tibet, China. Decoctions of the seeds have been used in Chinese folk medicine for dephlogistication, detoxication, and infectious diseases. The present study aimed to investigate the constituent and biological effects of polysaccharides from S. moorcroftiana seeds in Caenorhabditis elegans(C. elegans). Polysaccharides from S. moorcroftiana seeds(SMpol) were extracted with 60% ethanol and constituent was analyzed by GC-MS. SMpol was composed of glucose, galactose and inositol in the molar ratio of 35.7 : 1.3 : 17.0. Synchronized worms were treated with SMpol and then lifespan, motility, reproduction, stress resistance and antimicrobial activity were examined. Compared with the control group, the lifespan was increased to the average of 27.3 days and the number of laying eggs showed a 1.3-fold increase in nematodes treated with SMpol(4 mg×mL^(–1)). In SMpol(4 mg×mL^(–1)) treated worms, there was a 1.1-fold increase in 24-h survival of acute heat stress and a 1.6-fold increase in 2-h survival of oxidative stress The colonization of the bacteria in the SMpol treated nematode was significantly lower than that of the untreated group by 68.3%. In vivo studies showed SMpol significantly extended the life span, improved reproduction, increased stress resistance and antimicrobial capacity of C. elegans. | 7 | Inhibition of cyclooxygenase-2 activity in subchondral bone modifies a subtype of osteoarthritis显示文摘Osteoarthritis(OA) causes the destruction of joints. Its pathogenesis is still under investigation, and there is no effective diseasemodifying therapy. Here, we report that elevated cyclooxygenase-2(COX-2) expression in the osteocytes of subchondral bone causes both spontaneous OA and rheumatoid arthritis(RA). The knockout of COX-2 in osteocytes or treatment with a COX-2 inhibitor effectively rescues the structure of subchondral bone and attenuates cartilage degeneration in spontaneous OA(STR/Ort)mice and tumor necrosis factor-α transgenic RA mice. Thus, elevated COX-2 expression in subchondral bone induces both OAassociated and RA-associated joint cartilage degeneration. | 10 | Pt-Co single atom alloy catalysts: Accelerated water dissociation and hydrogen evolution by strain regulation显示文摘The alkaline hydrogen evolution reaction(HER) on Pt-based catalysts is largely limited by the slow water dissociation kinetics. Pt-based single atom alloy catalysts(SAAC) with water dissociation sites have been demonstrated as excellent alkaline HER catalysts. However, the regulation of their activity and stability at the atomic scale is still a great challenge. Herein, the kinetic and stability issues are successfully resolved via engineering the electronic structure of Pt-Co SAAC by Au-induced tensile strain. The atomic dispersion of Co into the Pt shell was confirmed by extended X-ray absorption fine structure and the electronic structure and catalytic HER performance was modulated by the tensile strain induced by the Pt shell thickness. An inverse volcano-type relation between HER activity and surface strain was found.Density functional theory(DFT) calculations reveal that the Au-induced tensile strain on Pt-Co shell can not only boost the adsorption and dissociation kinetics of water at Co site by upshifting the dband and promoting the electron transfer, but also downshift the d-band center of Pt in Pt-Co shell, leading to optimized H* adsorption/desorption. The champion catalyst provides an overpotential of only 14 m V at the current density of 10 mA cm^(-2). It is an important way of creating genetic variation, fertile strains, and excellent characteristics in new strains and populations. Combining analyses and summaries from many inter-related documents in plants and animals, both domestic and international, including examples and long-standing research on distant hybridization in fish from our laboratory, we summarize and compare the similarities and differences in plant and animal distant hybridization. In addition, we analyze and review the biological characteristics of their different ploidy progenies and the possible causes of disparity in survival rates. Mechanisms of sterility in animal and plant distant hybrids are also discussed, and research methods for the study of biological characteristics of hybrids, including morphology, cytology,and molecular cytogenetics are presented. This paper aims to provide comprehensive research materials and to systematically compare the general and specific characteristics of plant and animal hybrids with regards to reproduction, genetics, growth traits,and other biological characteristics. | 16 | Human umbilical cord mesenchymal stem cells for psoriasis:a phase 1/2a,single-arm study显示文摘Psoriasis is a common,chronic immune-mediated systemic disease that had no effective and durable treatment.Mesenchymal stem cells(MSCs)have immunomodulatory properties.Therefore,we performed a phase 1/2a,single-arm clinical trial to evaluate the safety and efficacy of human umbilical cord-derived MSCs(UMSCs)in the treatment of psoriasis and to preliminarily explore the possible mechanisms.Seventeen patients with psoriasis were enrolled and received UMsC infusions.Adverse events,laboratory parameters,PASl,and PGA were analyzed.We did not observe obvious side effects during the treatment and 6-month follow-up.A total of 47.1%(8/17)of the psoriasis patients had at least 40%improvement in the PASl score,and 17.6%(3/17)had no sign of disease or minimal disease based on the PGA score.And the efficiency was 25%(2/8)for males and 66.7%(6/9)for females.After UMSC transplantation(UMSCT),the frequencies of Tregs and CD4^(+)memory T cells were significantly increased,and the frequencies of T helper(Th)17 and CD4^(+)naive T cells were significantly decreased in peripheral blood(PB)of psoriasis patients.And all responders showed significant increases in Tregs and CD4^(+)memory T cells,and significant decreases in Th17 cells and serum IL-17 level after UMsCT.And baseline level of Tregs in responders were significantly lower than those in nonresponders.In conclusion,allogeneic UMSCT is safe and partially effective in psoriasis patients,and level of Tregs may be used as a potent biomarker to predict the clinical efficacy of UMSCT.Trial registration Clinical Trials NCT03765957. | Lamei Cheng Siqi Wang Cong Peng Xiao Zou Chao Yang Hua Mei Chuang Li Xian Su Na Xiao Qi Ouyang Mi Zhang Qiaolin Wang Yan Luo Minxue Shen Qun Qin Honglin Wang Wu Zhu Guangxiu Lu Ge Lin Yehong Kuang Xiang Chen | 2022 | Signal Transduction and Targeted Therapy2022,7,9: | 2 |

| 18 | Curative effect observation on deformed auricle treated with EarWell Infant Ear Correction System with modular parents'nursing education显示文摘Objective:To investigate the efficacy and patient satisfaction of the EarWell Infant Ear Correction System combined with modular parents'nursing education's curative effect on deformed auricle.Methods:A total of 42 patients(29 boys and 13 girls;73 ears;age≤3 months)with auricle deformities who had received EarWell Infant Ear Correction System's treatment and modular parents'nursing education in Guangzhou Children and Women's Medical Center between April and October 2018.The modular parents'education program is standardized by EarWell system.Physician and patients'parents compared the severity of auricle deformity separately before and after the treatment by using the auricle deformities visual analogue scales(VAS)rating system.Patient satisfaction was evaluated by using global aesthetic improvement scale(GAIS).The data collected of auricle deformities VAS and GAIS satisfaction score were applied to measure the treatment's effectiveness.Results:All the 42 patients(73 external ears)completed the treatment with EarWell Infant Ear Correction System and modular parents'nursing education.The mean age at initiation of treatment was 37.87±19.44 days and the therapeutic time span was 47.21±17.36 days.At the end of treatment,the physician's and patients'guardians rating of the severity of auricle deformity were significantly improved separately compared to the initial rating(8.33±1.27 vs.6.51±0.84;P<0.005)(5.77±1.59 vs.8.19±2.38 P<0.05).During the treatment and parents'home nursing care period,the side effect and complications were minor like skin eczema and irrigation;there were no severe complications such as necrosis of the skin and cartilage.The patient tolerance for the treatment was acceptable with the adequate parents'nursing care.Most patients'guardians were satisfied with the treatment outcomes of EarWell Infant Ear Correction System with more engagement of nursing care,the GAIS's rating were increased from pretreatment stage's 26.19%to treatment completed stage's 90.48%,and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusions:In this study,we proved that EarWell Infant Ear Correction System with its unique parents'modular nursing care education,as a noninvasive treatment,reasonably improved auricle morphological malformation,and patients'guardians satisfaction with few complications,which is worthy of a wildly clinical promotion. | Wei Wei Ren-Zhong Luo Zhen-Yun Huang Rui Mi | 2020 | Frontiers of Nursing2020,7,2: | 2 |
