| 1 | Effects of temperature and organic and inorganic nutrients on the growth of Chattonella marina (Raphidophyceae)from the Daya Bay,South China Sea显示文摘The effects of temperature and different forms of nutrients on Chattonella marina growth have been investigated in strains isolated from the Daya Bay,the South China Sea.The strain of C.marina preferred high temperatures, with an optimal temperature of 25°C,and 18 °C was the minimum for its survival.Higher cell number and growth rate were obtained in high nitrogen and phosphorus concentrations (500 μ g/L, 74 μ g/L) than under nutrient limitation.Nitrogen influenced the growth most, as the specific growth rate and maximum cell density were lower in nitrogen-limited cultures than noted under phosphorus limitation or under limitation from both.C.marina was capable of using many kinds of organic nitrogen sources including L-serine (L-Ser),glycine (Gly),alanine (Ala),L-threonine (L-Thr), glutamic acid (Glu) and urea, but could not utilize uric acid.Various forms of organic phosphorus compound such as glucose-6-phosphate (G6P),sodium glycerophosphate (GYP),adenosine triphosphate (ATP),adenosine monophosphate (AMP),cytidine monophosphate (CMP),guanosine monophosphate (GMP),uridine monophosphate (UMP),4-nitrophenylphosphate (NPP) and triethyl phosphate (TEP) supported the growth as well. | 3 | A necessary and sufficient condition of convexity for SOC reformulation of trust-region subproblem with two intersecting cuts显示文摘We consider the extended trust-region subproblem with two linear inequalities. In the 'nonintersecting' case of this problem, Burer and Yang(2015) have proved that its semi-definite programming relaxation with second-order-cone reformulation(SDPR-SOCR) is a tight relaxation. In the more complicated 'intersecting' case, which is discussed in this paper, so far there is no result except for a counterexample for the SDPR-SOCR. We present a necessary and sufficient condition for the SDPR-SOCR to be a tight relaxation in both the 'nonintersecting' and 'intersecting' cases. As an application of this condition, it is verified easily that the 'nonintersecting' SDPR-SOCR is a tight relaxation indeed. Furthermore, as another application of the condition, we prove that there exist at least three regions among the four regions in the trust-region ball divided by the two intersecting linear cuts, on which the SDPR-SOCR must be a tight relaxation. | 4 | Copper‑Based Catalysts for Electrochemical Carbon Dioxide Reduction to Multicarbon Products显示文摘Electrochemical conversion of carbon dioxide into fuel and chemicals with added value represents an appealing approach to reduce the greenhouse effect and realize a carbon-neutral cycle,which has great potential in mitigating global warming and effectively storing renewable energy.The electrochemical CO_(2) reduction reaction(CO_(2)RR)usually involves multiproton coupling and multielectron transfer in aqueous electrolytes to form multicarbon products(C_(2+) products),but it competes with the hydrogen evolution reaction(HER),which results in intrinsically sluggish kinetics and a complex reaction mechanism and places higher requirements on the design of catalysts.In this review,the advantages of electrochemical CO_(2) reduction are briefly introduced,and then,different categories of Cu-based catalysts,including monometallic Cu catalysts,bimetallic catalysts,metal-organic frameworks(MOFs)along with MOF-derived catalysts and other catalysts,are summarized in terms of their synthesis method and conversion of CO_(2) to C2+products in aqueous solution.The catalytic mechanisms of these catalysts are subsequently discussed for rational design of more efficient catalysts.In response to the mechanisms,several material strategies to enhance the catalytic behaviors are proposed,including surface facet engineering,interface engineering,utilization of strong metal-support interactions and surface modification.Based on the above strategies,challenges and prospects are proposed for the future development of CO_(2)RR catalysts for industrial applications. | Fangfang Chang Meiling Xiao Ruifang Miao Yongpeng Liu Mengyun Ren Zhichao Jia Dandan Han Yang Yuan Zhengyu Bai Lin Yang | 2022 | Electrochemical Energy Reviews2022,5,3: | 2 |

| 6 | Contemporary Asymmetric Genetic Introgression Between Two Pelophylax Species in Shanghai显示文摘Human disturbances are considered to break reproduction barriers among species.Significant increases in hybridization events have been reported among a large number of taxonomic groups in anthropogenic environments,providing novel insights into species evolution mechanisms and conservation management in the Anthropocene.The Eastern Golden Frog(Pelophylax plancyi)and BlackSpotted Frog(P.nigromaculatus)are two sympatric anuran species with a long history of mitochondrial genome introgression in highly urbanized continental East Asia.However,there is only limited understanding of the pattern of their contemporary hybridization and factors influencing their interspecific relationship under anthropogenic disturbances.Here,interspecific hybridization between P.plancyi and P.nigromaculatus at the population level was investigated in Shanghai.All except two haplotypes obtained from both species in Shanghai were mixed together,and located in the introgression clade,implying multiple ancient mitochondrial introgression events occurred in the populations of our study area.Asymmetric genetic introgression was detected by microsatellite markers,with 0.7%of P.plancyi and 14.6%of P.nigromaculatus identified as contemporary admixed individuals.Consistent with the trend of population density,higher genetic diversity of neutral microsatellite loci was found in the more abundant P.plancyi;however,variation in mitochondrial(Cyt-b)and nuclear(POMC)genes was higher in relatively rare P.nigromaculatus.The population density of P.plancyi and number of water patches within local habitats were significantly positively correlated with both occurrences and proportions of admixed individuals in the populations of P.plancyi and P.nigromaculatus.Considering the prevalent transformation of habitats in urbanized areas,these results imply that a high population density in isolated artificially altered habitats is likely to increase interspecific hybridization.Thus,population monitoring and improvement of landscape connectivity between habitats would be needed to control the intensity of interspecific hybridization between P.plancyi and P.nigromaculatus in anthropogenic-disturbed environments. | Xu WEI Wenli LIU Gang WANG Rui MA Meiling HUANG Jiaxin ZHENG Tingwei DONG Changqing YUAN Shunqi BO Xiao YUAN Ben LI Shuo MA Qu YUE Youzhong DING Zhenghuan WANG | 2024 | Asian Herpetological Research2024,15,1: | 0 |

| 11 | Inhibition of pyruvate dehydrogenase kinase improves carbohydrate utilization in Nile tilapia by regulating PDK2/4-PDHE1αaxis and insulin sensitivity显示文摘Pyruvate dehydrogenase kinases(PDKs)-pyruvate dehydrogenase E1αsubunit(PDHE1α)axis plays an important role in regulating glucose metabolism in mammals.However,the regulatory function of PDKsPDHE1α axis in the glucose metabolism of fish is not well known.This study determined whether PDKs inhibition could enhance PDHE1αactivity,and improve glucose catabolism in fish.Nile tilapia fingerlings(1.90±0.11 g)were randomly divided into 4 treatments in triplicate(30 fish each)and fed control diet without dichloroacetate(DCA)(38% protein,7% lipid and 45% corn starch)and the control diet supplemented with DCA,which inhibits PDKs through binding the allosteric sites,at 3.75(DCA3.75),7.50(DCA7.50)and 11.25 g/kg(DCA11.25),for 6 wk.The results showed that DCA3.75,DCA7.50 and DCA11.25significantly increased weight gain,carcass ratio and protein efficiency ratio(P<0.05)and reduced feed efficiency(P<0.05)of Nile tilapia.To investigate the effects of DCA on growth performance of Nile tilapia,we selected the lowest dose DCA3.75 for subsequent analysis.Nile tilapia fed on DCA3.75significantly reduced the mesenteric fat index,serum and liver triglyceride concentration and total lipid content in whole fish,and down-regulated the expressions of genes related to lipogenesis(P<0.05)compared to the control.The DCA3.75 treatment significantly improved glucose oxidative catabolism and glycogen synthesis in the liver,but significantly reduced the conversion of glucose to lipid(P<0.05).Furthermore,the DCA3.75 treatment significantly decreased the PDK2/4 gene and protein expressions(P<0.05),accordingly stimulated PDHE1αactivity by decreasing the phosphorylated PDHE1αprotein level.In addition,DCA3.75 treatment significantly increased the phosphorylated levels of key proteins involved in insulin signaling pathway and glycogen synthase kinase 3β(P<0.05).Taken together,the present study demonstrates that PDK2/4 inhibition by using DCA promotes glucose utilization in Nile tilapia by activating PDHE1αand improving insulin sensitivity.Our study helps to understand the regulatory mechanism of glucose metabolism for improving dietary carbohydrate utilization in farmed fish. | Yuan Luo Wenhao Zhou Ruixin Li Samwel MLimbu Fang Qiao Liqiao Chen Meiling Zhang Zhen-Yu Du | 2022 | Animal Nutrition2022,,4: | 0 |

In this study, we have identified WD repeat-containing protein 74(WDR74) as a novel transcriptional coactivator for Smads in the canonical TGF-β signaling pathway. Through direct interactions with Smad proteins, WDR74 enhances TGF-β-mediated phosphorylation and nuclear accumulation of Smad2 and Smad3. Consequently, WDR74 enables stronger transcriptional responses and more robust TGF-β-induced physiological responses.
