A Comprehensive Review of Path Planning Algorithms for Autonomous Underwater Vehicles显示文摘The underwater path planning problem deals with finding an optimal or sub-optimal route between an origin point and a termination point in marine environments. The underwater environment is still considered as a great challenge for the path planning of autonomous underwater vehicles(AUVs)because of its hostile and dynamic nature. The major constraints for path planning are limited data transmission capability, power and sensing technology available for underwater operations. The sea environment is subjected to a large set of challenging factors classified as atmospheric, coastal and gravitational.Based on whether the impact of these factors can be approximated or not,the underwater environment can be characterized as predictable and unpredictable respectively. The classical path planning algorithms based on artificial intelligence assume that environmental conditions are known apriori to the path planner. But the current path planning algorithms involve continual interaction with the environment considering the environment as dynamic and its effect cannot be predicted.Path planning is necessary for many applications involving AUVs.These are based upon planning safety routes with minimum energy cost and computation overheads. This review is intended to summarize various path planning strategies for AUVs on the basis of characterization of underwater environments as predictable and unpredictable. The algorithms employed in path planning of single AUV and multiple AUVs are reviewed in the light of predictable and unpredictable environments. | Madhusmita Panda Bikramaditya Das Bidyadhar Subudhi Bibhuti Bhusan Pati | 2020 | International Journal of Automation and computing2020,17,3: | 8
Abdominal obesity adversely affects bone mass in children显示文摘AIM To determine the effect of childhood obesity and insulin resistance on bone health. METHODS We conducted a cross sectional study in pubertal adolescents and young adults 13-20 years old who were either overweight/obese or normal weight. Participants were Tanner 3 or above for pubertal stage, and had fasting blood work done to measure glucose, insulin, C-reactive protein and lipid levels. Homeostatic model of insulin resistance(HOMA-IR) was calculated using the formula(Fasting Blood Glucose *Insulin/405). Body composition and bone mineral density were measured using dual energy X-ray absorptiometry(DXA; Hologic QDR 4500, Waltham, MA, United Kingdom). RESULTS Percent trunk fat was associated inversely with whole body bone mineral content(BMC), whereas HOMA-IR was associated positively with whole body BMC.CONCLUSION Our results suggest that abdominal adiposity may have an adverse effect on whole body bone parameters and that this effect is not mediated by insulin resistance. | Sowmya Krishnan Michael P Anderson David A Fields Madhusmita Misra | 2018 | World Journal of Clinical Pediatrics2018,7,1: | 3

Diabetes mellitus susceptibility with varied diseased phenotypes and its comparison with phenome interactome networks显示文摘An emerging area of interest in understanding disease phenotypes is systems genomics.Complex diseases such as diabetes have played an important role towards understanding the susceptible genes and mutations.A wide number of methods have been employed and strategies such as polygenic risk score and allele frequencies have been useful, but understanding the candidate genes harboring those mutations is an unmet goal.In this perspective, using systems genomic approaches,we highlight the application of phenome-interactome networks in diabetes and provide deep insights.LINC01128,which we previously described as candidate for diabetes,is shown as an example to discuss the approach. | Madhusmita Rout Bhumandeep Kour Sugunakar Vuree Sajitha S Lulu Krishna Mohan Medicherla Prashanth Suravajhala | 2022 | World Journal of Clinical Cases2022,10,18: | 0
Plant growth-promoting rhizobacteria(PGPR)and its mechanisms against plant diseases for sustainable agriculture and better productivity显示文摘Plant growth-promoting rhizobacteria(PGPR)are specialized bacterial communities inhabiting the root rhizosphere and the secretion of root exudates helps to,regulate the microbial dynamics and their interactions with the plants. These bacteria viz.,Agrobacterium,Arthobacter,Azospirillum,Bacillus,Burkholderia,Flavobacterium,Pseudomonas,Rhizobium,etc.,play important role in plant growth promotion. In addition, such symbiotic associations of PGPRs in the rhizospheric region also confer protection against several diseases caused by bacterial, fungal and viral pathogens. The biocontrol mechanism utilized by PGPR includes direct and indirect mechanisms direct PGPR mechanisms include the production of antibiotic, siderophore, and hydrolytic enzymes, competition for space and nutrients, and quorum sensing whereas, indirect mechanisms include rhizomicrobiome regulation via.secretion of root exudates, phytostimulation through the release of phytohormones viz.,auxin, cytokinin, gibberellic acid,1-aminocyclopropane-1-carboxylate and induction of systemic resistance through expression of antioxidant defense enzymes viz.,phenylalanine ammonia lyase(PAL),peroxidase(PO),polyphenyloxidases(PPO),superoxide dismutase(SOD),chitinase andβ-glucanases.For the suppression of plant diseases potent bio inoculants can be developed by modulating the rhizomicrobiome through rhizospheric engineering. In addition, understandings of different strategies to improve PGPR strains, their competence, colonization efficiency, persistence and its future implications should also be taken into consideration. | PRANAB DUTTA GOMATHY MUTHUKRISHNAN SABARINATHAN KUTALINGAM GOPALASUBRAMAIAM RAJAKUMAR DHARMARAJ ANANTHI KARUPPAIAH KARTHIBA LOGANATHAN KALAISELVI PERIYASAMY MARUMUGAM PILLAI GK UPAMANYA SARODEE BORUAH LIPA DEB ARTI KUMARI MADHUSMITA MAHANTA PUNABATI HEISNAM AK MISHRA | 2022 | BIOCELL2022,46,8: | 0
Carbon Nanoparticle Exerts Positive Growth Effects with Increase in Productivity by Down-Regulating Phytochrome B and Enhancing Internal Temperature in Rice显示文摘The effects of carbon nanoparticle(CNP)on rice variety Swarna(MTU7029)were investigated.CNP induced effects similar to shade avoidance response(SAR)of Arabidopsis, with increase in shoot length, root length, root number, cotyledon area, chlorophyll content and total sugar content in rice seedlings. In mature plants,CNP treatment resulted increase in plant height, number of productive tillers per plant, normalized difference vegetation index, quantum yield and root growth.A total of 320 mg of CNP per plant administered in four doses resulted in improved grain traits such as filled grain rate,100-grain weight, grain length/width ratio, hulling rate, milling rate and head rice recovery.Seeds from the CNP-treated plants showed increase in amylose, starch and soluble sugar contents compared to controls.Strikingly,CNP treatment showed an average of 17.5%increase in yield per plant.Upon investigation to the molecular mechanism behind CNP induction of SAR,a significant downregulation of phytochrome B transcript was found.Decrease in perception of red wavelengths led to responses similar to SAR.Increase in plant’s internal temperature by 0.5ºC±0.1ºC was recorded after CNP treatment. We suggest that the internalized CNP aggregates may serve to absorb extra photons thereby increasing the internal temperature of plants.Phytochrome B accounts the hike in internal temperature and initiates a feed-back reduction of its own transcription. We suggest that moderate SAR is beneficial for rice plants to improve agronomic traits and yield. It presents a potential non-transgenic method for improving rice yield by CNP treatment. | Madhusmita PANIGRAHY Subhashree DAS Yugandhar POLI Pratap Kumar SAHOO Khushbu KUMARI Kishore C.S.PANIGRAHI | 2021 | Rice science2021,28,3: | 0
A review of concurrent infections of malaria and dengue in Asia显示文摘Concurrent infections of malaria and dengue are when both of these mosquito-borne diseases occur simultaneously in an individual. In this review, reported cases with these co-infections in Asia are discussed. The focus is on the overlapping clinical presentations and the difficulties encountered in differential diagnosis. Also, cases reported in some special conditions, viz., pregnancy, foetal infections, and co-infections with one or more other infectious agents are highlighted. Due to similar clinical presentations of malaria and dengue, these co-infections may give rise to an incorrect diagnosis. Moreover, the treatment regimens for these co-infections are not the same as those for mono-infections.Hence, a delay in implementing the appropriate treatment regimen for these concurrent infections due to poor diagnosis can be fatal. The present review is intended to increase awareness about the clinical significance and the importance of these co-infections among clinicians, public health workers and health authorities in the Asian region. Though malaria-dengue concurrent infections are seldom reported from the Asian region, it is probably increasing particularly in the countries known to be endemic for both of the above diseases. A compulsory reporting of the incidences of malaria-dengue concurrent infections is recommended. | Aruchana A/P Selvaretnam Priyadarshi Soumyaranjan Sahu Madhusmita Sahu Stephen Ambu | 2016 | Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Biomedicine2016,6,7: | 0
Performance Analysis of 5 G Wireless Hybrid Precoding Using Evolutionary Algorithms显示文摘Emerging 5G communication solutions utilize the millimeter wave(mmWave)band to alleviate the spectrum deficit. In the mmWave range,Multiple Input Multiple Output(MIMO)technologies support a large number of simultaneous users. In mmWave MIMO wireless systems, hybrid analog/digital precoding topologies provide a reduced complexity substitute for digital precoding.Bit Error Rate(BER)and Spectral efficiency performances can be improved by hybrid Minimum Mean Square Error(MMSE)precoding, but the computation involves matrix inversion process. The number of antennas at the broadcasting and receiving ends is quite large for mm-wave MIMO systems, thus computing the inverse of a matrix of such high dimension may not be practically feasible.Due to the need for matrix inversion and known candidate matrices, the classic Orthogonal Matching Pursuit(OMP)approach will be more complicated. The novelty of research presented in this manuscript is to create a hybrid precoder for mmWave communication systems using metaheuristic algorithms that do not require matrix inversion processing. The metaheuristic approach has not employed much in the formulation of a precoder in wireless systems.Five distinct evolutionary algorithms, such as Harris–Hawks Optimization(HHO),Runge–Kutta Optimization(RUN),Slime Mould Algorithm(SMA),Hunger Game Search(HGS)Algorithm and Aquila Optimizer(AO)are considered to design optimal hybrid precoder for downlink transmission and their performances are tested under similar practical conditions.According to simulation studies, the RUN-based precoder performs better than the conventional algorithms and other nature-inspired algorithms based precoding in terms of spectral efficiency and BER. | Madhusmita Sahoo Harish Kumar Sahoo | 2023 | Journal of Bionic Engineering2023,20,5: | 0
Immunoprophylactic potential of filarial glutathione-s-transferase in lymphatic filariaisis显示文摘Objective:To elucidates the immunoprophylactic potential of glutathion-s-transferase(GST) from cattle filarial parasite Setaria digitata(S.digitata) against lymphatic filariasis. Methods: GST was purified through affinity chromatography(SdGST) and chacterized by SDS-PAGE and Nano-LC MS/MS analysis.Antibody isotypes to SdGST were measured by ELISA.Antibody dependant cellular cytotoxicity(ADCC) was performed in vitro using sera from immunized animals and immune individuals.T-cell proliferation and cytokine response to SdGST in different groups of filariasis were measured.Immunoprophylactic potential of SdGST was evaluate in animal model. Results:SdGST exhibited 30-fold enhancement of enzyme activity over crude parasitic extract. It was found to be 26 kDa by SDS-PAGE.Nano LC-MS/MS analysis followed by blast search showed 100%homology with Dirqfilaria immitis(D.immitis) and only 43%with Homo sapiens(H.sapiens).Immunoblotting analysis showed putatively immune individuals carry significant level of antibodies to SdGST as compared with microfilaraemics.Immunized sera and sera endemic normal could neutralize the enzymatic activity of SdGST and inducing in vitro cytotoxicity of microfilariae.Peripheral blood mononuclear cells(PBMC) from endemic normals upon stimulation with SdGST showed a mixed type of Th1/Th2 response.SdGST immunization clear microfilariae from circulation in S.digitata implanted mastomys. Conclusions:The heterologous GST could be potentially developed as a vaccine candidate against lymphatic filarial parasite. | Madhusmita Bal Mandal N Achary KG Das MK Kar SK | 2011 | Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Medicine2011,4,3: | 0
