| 3 | Pancreatic schwannoma:Case report and an updated 30-year review of the literature yielding 47 cases显示文摘Pancreatic schwannomas are rare neoplasms.Authors briefly describe a 64-year-old female patient with cystic pancreatic schwannoma mimicking other cystic tumors and review the literature.Databases for PubMed were searched for English-language articles from 1980 to 2010 using a list of keywords,as well as references from review articles.Only 41 articles,including 47 cases,have been reported in the English literature.The mean age was 55.7 years(range 20-87 years),with 45%of patients being male.Mean tumor size was 6.2 cm(range 1-20 cm).Tumor location was the head(40%),head and body(6%),body(21%),body and tail(15%),tail(4%),and uncinate process(13%).Thirty-four percent of patients exhibited solid tumors and 60%of patients exhibited cystic tumors.Treatment included pancreati-coduodenectomy(32%),distal pancreatectomy(21%),enucleation(15%),unresectable(4%),refused opera-tion(2%)and the detail of resection was not specified in 26%of patients.No patients died of disease with a mean follow-up of 15.7 mo(range 3-65 mo),although 5(11%)patients had a malignancy.The tumor size was significantly related to malignant tumor(13.8±6.2 cm for malignancy vs 5.5±4.4 cm for benign,P=0.001) and cystic formation(7.9±5.9 cm for cystic tumorvs 3.9 ±2.4 cm for solid tumor,P=0.005).The preoperative diagnosis of pancreatic schwannoma remains difficult.Cystic pancreatic schwannomas should be considered in the differential diagnosis of cystic neoplasms and pseudocysts.In our case,intraoperative frozen section confirmed the diagnosis of a schwannoma.Simple enucleation may be adequate,if this is possible. | Toshiyuki Moriya Wataru Kimura Ichiro Hirai Akiko Takeshita Koji Tezuka Toshihiro Watanabe Masaomi Mizutani Akira Fuse | 2012 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2012，18，13： | 8 |

| 6 | Analysis of Machinable Structures and Their Wettability of Rotary Ultrasonic Texturing Method显示文摘Tailored surface textures at the micro- or nanoscale dimensions are widely used to get required functional performances.Rotary ultrasonic texturing(RUT) technique has been proved to be capable of fabricating periodic micro- and nanostructures. In the present study, diamond tools with geometrically defined cutting edges were designed for fabricating different types of tailored surface textures using the RUT method. Surface generation mechanisms and machinable structures of the RUT process are analyzed and simulated with a 3D-CAD program. Textured surfaces generated by using a triangular pyramid cutting tip are constructed. Different textural patterns from several micrometers to several tens of micrometers with few burrs were successfully fabricated, which proved that tools with a proper two-rake-face design are capable of removing cutting chips efficiently along a sinusoidal cutting locus in the RUT process. Technical applications of the textured surfaces are also discussed. Wetting properties of textured aluminum surfaces were evaluated by combining the test of surface roughness features. Palaeon-tological and lithological characteristics and structural features of these formations are entirely identical tothose of the Mino terrane of the Japanese Islands. Prior to opening of the Sea of Japan, these terranesformed a single superterrane together with the Western Sikhote-Alin terrane. Tectono-stratigraphic terranesvery similar to the Nadanhada and Mino terranes are also found in the Ryukyu arc, the Philippines andprobably in Borneo. | 9 | Research and Implementations of Structural Monitoring for Bridges and Buildings in Japan显示文摘This paper provides a review on the development of structural monitoring in Japan, with an emphasis on the type, strategy, and utilization of monitoring systems. The review focuses on bridge and building structures using vibration-based techniques. Structural monitoring systems in Japan historically started with the objective of evaluating structural responses against extreme events. In the development of structural monitoring, monitoring systems and collected data were used to verify design assumptions, update speci cations, and facilitate the ef cacy of vibration control systems. Strategies and case studies on monitoring for the design veri cation of long-span bridges and tall buildings, the performance of seismic isolation systems in building and bridges, the veri cation of structural retro t, the veri cation of structural control systems (passive, semi-active, and active), structural assessment, and damage detec- tion are described. More recently, the application of monitoring systems has been extended to facilitate ef cient operation and effective maintenance through the rationalization of risk and asset management using monitoring data. | 10 | Serum Mac-2 binding protein is a novel biomarker for chronic pancreatitis显示文摘AIM: To determine the efficacy of Mac-2 binding protein(Mac-2bp) for diagnosis of chronic pancreatitis.METHODS: Fifty-nine healthy volunteers(HV), 162 patients with chronic pancreatitis(CP), and 94 patients with pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma(PDAC) were enrolled in this study. We measured serum Mac-2bp using our developed enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay kit. Additional biochemical variables were measured using an automated analyzer(including aminotransferase, alanine aminotransferase, γ-glutamyltransferase, alkaline phosphatase, triglyceride, C-reactive protein, and amylase levels) or chemiluminescent enzyme immunoassay(carbohydrate antigen 19-9 and carcinoembryonic antigen). The ability of Mac-2bp to predict CP diagnosis accurately was assessed using receiver operating characteristic(ROC) analyses.RESULTS: Serum Mac-2bp levels were significantly increased in CP patients compared to HV(P < 0.0001) and PDAC patients(P < 0.0001). Area under the ROC curve values of Mac-2bp for the discrimination of CP from HV and PDAC were 0.727 and 0.784, respectively. Multivariate analyses demonstrated that serum Mac-2bp levels were independent determinants for CP diagnosis from HV and PDAC patients. Immunohistological staining showed that Mac-2bp was expressed faintly in the pancreas tissues of both CP and PDAC patients. Serum aspartate aminotransferase, alanine aminotransferase, γ-glutamyltransferase, alkaline phosphatase, and triglyceride levels were significantly higher in patients with CP or PDAC. Serum Mac-2bp levels were highly correlated with protein levels of alanine aminotransferase, γ-glutamyltransferase, and C-reactive protein, but not amylase, suggesting that the damaged liver produces Mac-2bp.
