| 2 | Identification of advanced spin-driven thermoelectric materials via interpretable machine learning显示文摘Machine learning is becoming a valuable tool for scientific discovery.Particularly attractive is the application of machine learning methods to the field of materials development,which enables innovations by discovering new and better functional materials.To apply machine learning to actual materials development,close collaboration between scientists and machine learning tools is necessary.However,such collaboration has been so far impeded by the black box nature of many machine learning algorithms.It is often difficult for scientists to interpret the data-driven models from the viewpoint of material science and physics.Here,we demonstrate the development of spin-driven thermoelectric materials with anomalous Nernst effect by using an interpretable machine learning method called factorized asymptotic Bayesian inference hierarchical mixture of experts(FAB/HMEs).Based on prior knowledge of material science and physics,we were able to extract from the interpretable machine learning some surprising correlations and new knowledge about spin-driven thermoelectric materials.Guided by this,we carried out an actual material synthesis that led to the identification of a novel spin-driven thermoelectric material.This material shows the largest thermopower to date. | Yuma Iwasaki Ryohto Sawada Valentin Stanev Masahiko Ishida Akihiro Kirihara Yasutomo Omori Hiroko Someya Ichiro Takeuchi Eiji Saitoh Shinichi Yorozu | 2019 | npj Computational Materials2019，，1： | 7 |
| 3 | Fibrinogen degradation product levels on arrival for trauma patients requiring a transfusion even without head injury显示文摘BACKGROUND: There have been few reports on the clinical significance of the fibrinogen degradation product(FDP) level in trauma patients with and without head injury. We retrospectively analyzed trauma patients with or without head injury to investigate the clinical signifi cance of the FDP level.METHODS: From April 2013 to June 2015, a medical chart review was retrospectively performed for all patients with trauma. The exclusion criteria included patients who did not receive a transfusion. The patients were divided into two groups: a FDP>100 group, which included patients who had an FDP level on arrival over 100 ng/m L, and a FDP≤100 group.RESULTS: The ratio of open fractures and the prothrombin ratio in the FDP>100 group were significantly smaller than those observed in the FDP≤100 group. The average age, ratio of blunt injury, Injury Severity Score(ISS), volume of transfusion and mortality ratio in the FDP>100 group were signifi cantly greater than those in the FDP≤100 group. There was a weakly positive correlation between the FDP level and ISS(R=0.35, P=0.002), but it was not associated with the transfusion volume. | 4 | Efficacy of direct-acting antiviral treatment for chronic hepatitis C: A single hospital experience显示文摘AIM To evaluate the efficacy of direct-acting antivirals(DAAs) in Kanto Rosai Hospital. METHODS All patients with hepatitis C virus(HCV) who underwent DAA prescription were enrolled in this study. The present study was a single center retrospective analysis using patients infected with HCV genotype 1 or 2. Resistance analysis was performed by using direct sequencing and cycleave PCR in genotype 1 patients treated with interferon(IFN)-free DAA. The primary endpoint was sustained virologic response at 12 wk after therapy(SVR12).RESULTS A total of 117 patients participated in the study, including 135 with genotype 1 and 42 with genotype 2. Of the 135 patients with genotype 1, 16 received protease inhibitor + IFN + ribavirin and all achieved SVR. Of the 119 patients who received IFN-free DAA(in different combinations), 102 achieved SVR and 9 failed(7/9 were on daclatasvir/asunaprevir and 2/9 on ledipasvir/sofosbuvir). Efficacy analysis was done only for 43 patients who received daclatasvir/asunaprevir. From this analysis, Y93 resistance-associated substitutions were significantly correlated with SVR.CONCLUSION The SVR rate was 98% for genotype 1 and 100% for genotype 2.
