| 1 | Preoperative biliary drainage in hilar cholangiocarcinoma: When and how?显示文摘Hilar cholangiocarcinoma is a tumor of the extrahepatic bile duct involving the left main hepatic duct, the right main hepatic duct, or their confluence. Biliary drainage in hilar cholangiocarcinoma is sometimes clinically challenging because of complexities associated with the level of biliary obstruction. This may result in some adverse events, especially acute cholangitis. Hence the decision on the indication and methods of biliary drainage in patients with hilar cholangiocarcinoma should be carefully evaluated. This review focuses on the optimal method and duration of preoperative biliary drainage(PBD) in resectable hilar cholangiocarcinoma. Under certain special indications such as right lobectomy for Bismuth type ⅢA or Ⅳ hilar cholangiocarcinoma, or preoperative portal vein embolization with chemoradiation therapy, PBD should be strongly recommended. Generally, selective biliary drainage is enough before surgery, however, in the cases of development of cholangitis after unilateral drainage or slow resolving hyperbilirubinemia, total biliary drainage may be considered. Although the optimal preoperative bilirubin level is still a matter of debate, the shortest possible duration of PBD is recommended. | 2 | Ozone and ozone/hydrogen peroxide treatment to remove gemfibrozil and ibuprofen from treated sewage effluent: Factors influencing bromate formation显示文摘Reuse of treated sewage effluent is an important option to overcome water scarcity.Conventional wastewater treatment methods are inadequate for the removal of several persistent contaminants such as pharmaceuticals and personal care products(PPCPs).In this study the removal of ibuprofen and gemfibrozil by ozonation and ozone/hydrogen peroxide(O3/H2O2)advanced oxidation process(AOP),as well as the formation of bromate were investigated at different temperatures and pH values.Complete removal of gemfibrozil and a maximum of 80%ibuprofen removal were achieved using ozone dosage of 1.5 mg/L with O3:H2O2 ratio of 1:0.25 in the O3/H2O2 process.The effect of temperature on the removal efficiency of these two compounds was found to be negligible from 25 to 40ᵒC for both processes.pH effect from 6 to 9 was also found to be negligible for gemfibrozil removal,while ibuprofen had relatively lower removal by ozonation at pH 6 compared to higher pH values.Bromate formation was decreased to 0.012 mg/L when the pH was increased to 9.Increasing the temperature to 40ᵒC also resulted in less bromate formation which was the lowest value obtained in this study at 0.0102 mg/L.Addition of H2O2 did not affect the formation of bromate and in some cases it was found to be slightly higher compared with ozonation treatment. | Hajar Farzaneh Kavithaa Loganathan Jayaprakash Saththasivam Gordon McKay | 2020 | Emerging Contaminants2020，6，1： | 4 |
| 3 | Antioxidant activity of newly discovered lineage of marine actinobacteria显示文摘Objective:To investigate the antioxidant activity of marine actinobacteria.Methods:The content of total phenolics,the level of antioxidant potential by DPPH radical scavenging activity,metal chelating activity,FRAP method,βcarotene assay and NO scavenging activity in extract were determined.Results:In all the methods the extract exhibited good scavenging activity except NO scavenging activity.The IC50 values of marine actinobacteria extract on DPPH radical were found to be 41.09μg/mL.The zone of color retention was 12 mm inβ-carotene bleaching assay. DNA protective efficiency of the extracts was also studied using UV- photolysed H2O2-driven oxidative damage to pBR322.HPLC analysis identified some of the major phenolic compounds in extracts,which might he responsible for the antioxidant potential and cyto-protection.It showed a 100%cytotoxic effect in brine shrimp lethality assay within 10 mins.The novel actinobacteria was identified as Streptomyces LK-3(JF710608) through I6S rDNA Sequencing.Conclusions:The results obtained suggest that the extracts bear anti-cancer metabolites and could be considered as a potential source for anti-cancer drug development. | Loganathan Karthik Gaurav Kumar Kokati Venkata Bhaskara Rao | 2013 | Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Medicine2013，6，4： | 3 |
| 4 | Strategies for scalable symbolic execution-driven test generation for programs显示文摘With the advent of advanced program analysis and constraint solving techniques,several test generation tools use variants of symbolic execution.Symbolic techniques have been shown to be very effective in path-based test generation;however,they fail to scale to large programs due to the exponential number of paths to be explored.In this paper,we focus on tackling this path explosion problem and propose search strategies to achieve quick branch coverage under symbolic execution,while exploring only a fraction of paths in the program.We present a reachability-guided strategy that makes use of the reachability graph of the program to explore unvisited portions of the program and a conflict-driven backtracking strategy that utilizes conflict analysis to perform nonchronological backtracking.We present experimental evidence that these strategies can significantly reduce the search space and improve the speed of test generation for programs. | KRISHNAMOORTHY Saparya HSIAO Michael S. | 7 | Acaricidal activity of synthesized titanium dioxide nanoparticles using Calotropis gigantea against Rhipicephalus microplus and Haemaphysalis bispinosa显示文摘Objective:To assess the acaricidal activity of titanium dioxide nanoparticles(TiO_2 NPs)synthesized from flower aqueous extract of Calotropis gigantea(C.gigantea)against the larvae of Rhipicephalus(Boophilus)microplus[R.(B.)microplus]and the adult of Haemaphrysalis bispinosa(H.bispinosa).Methods:The lyophilized C.gigantea flower aqueous extract of 50 mg was added with 100 mL of TiO(OH_2)(10 mM)and magnetically stirred for 6 h.Synthesized TiO_2 NPs were characterized by X-ray diffraction(XRD).Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FTIR),Scanning electron microscopy(SEM),and Energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy(EDX).The synthesised TiO_2 NPs were tested against the larvae of R(B.)microplus and adult of H.bispinosa were exposed to filter paper impregnated method.Results:XRD confirmed the crystalline nature of the nanoparticles with the mean size of 10.52 nm.The functional groups for synthesized TiO_2NPs were 1405.19,and 1053.45 cm^(-1)for-NH_2 bending,primary amines and amides and 1053.84and 1078.45 cm^(-1)for C-O.SEM micrographs of the synthesized TiO_2 NPs showed the aggregated and spherical in shape.The maximum efficacy was observed in the aqueous flower extract of C.gigantea and synthesized TiO_2 NPs against R.(B.)microplus(LC_(50)=24.63 and 5.43 mg/L and r^2=0.960 and 0.988)and against H.bispinosa(LC_(50)=35.22 and 9.15 mg/L and r^2=0.969 and 0.969).respectively.Conclusions:The synthesized TiO_2 NPs were highly stable and had significant acaricidal activity against the larvae of R.(B.)microplus and adult of H.bispinosa.This study provides the first report of synthesized TiO_2 NPs and possessed excellent anti-parasitic activity. | Sampath Marimuthu Abdul Abdul Rahuman Chidambaram Jayaseelan Arivarasan Vishnu Kirthi Thirunavukkarasu Santhoshkumar Kanayairam Velayutham Asokan Bagavan Chinnaperumal Kamaraj Gandhi Elango Moorthy Iyappan Chinnadurai Siva Loganathan Karthik Kokati Venkata Bhaskara Rao | 2013 | Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Medicine2013，6，9： | 2 |
